The ID policy is not clear at the theater or online. The policy states "be prepared to show an ID" for an R rated movie. No where does it state that one has to show the actual ID nor that the ID cannot be a picture. Daughter forgot her ID and was refused entry for an R rated movie. She had a picture of it on her phone, but this was not acceptable to Kate, the supervisor. I called and explained to Kate that my daughter is indeed 17 and not lying. She made me drive to the theater to produce my daughter's ID. Rigid interpretation and poor customer service.

I love AMC bc they have comfortable seats that recline and most are clean. They have popcorn that's fluffy and good and you add the butter. This one is huge and they serve food and alcohol also. Huge parking lot. I know everyone is addicted to smart phones and apps for entertainment but it's still great to see movies in the theater.

A perfect place to beat the heat, on a comfy recliner, in the dark. It's Ghiblifest 2024 and I've never seen Princess Mononoke before. I was pretty invested until one of the characters was voiced by Billy Bob Thornton. No line at concessions, self-serve drinks and butter, clean bathrooms, pre-ordered tickets. It's all pretty convenient, plenty of parking. The theatre was about half full. I ended up taking a nap -- oops!

We chose to watch a movie here mostly due to the discounted price (25%) for a weekend matinee. We ordered our tickets at the front counter from an actual person (gasp - no kiosks) and she completed the transaction really quickly. The theater itself could use an update (style looks very 90s). But no complaints with the seats, they reclined properly, were comfortable and clean. I also liked that there was enough space away from the person next to you. Also the stadium seating also provides no worries about what seat you choose. The theater had the a/c pretty high, so bring a hoodie if you get cold easily. Parking is easy and there is no lines in front of concession stands. So all in all would recommend if you're truly just going there for the movie - not if you're trying to go for an all out luxury experience.

    Trash near the counter.

Popcorn is self service though, and that means free refills. Auditorium lights are kept on through the coming attractions. The Ugly: Light leakage from the hallway in theatre 7 leaves a light reflection across the bottom of the screen. I reported this to management. Hopefully they will address it.

It looks quite modern inside, and has more extras for guests including a bar, games etc. The biggest standout and the reason for that wording s the self serve popcorn. (Like, What??) It was an interesting experience to fill my own bucket but it was cool. The popcorn was nothing super special but it was good quality. The staff are friendly enough and I don't really have much negative to say. However, I will say that the process of getting in and having our tickets checked was a bit hectic as they have you go in the side door and wait in a single queue. We tried a pizza from their menu and it was pretty good. Would recommend. Slightly confusing for new comers but not really much to be concerned about. A nice addition to wheeling area and one I hope sticks around for awhile. [Date of Visit: 2/14/26]

It's a festival in two parts; the newly renovated Pavilion and the Lawn. The Pavilion is more expensive but every seat has a view of the stage. There is a limit to what you can enjoy in the seats, whereas the lawn is bring your own (mostly) everything (legal). You can pregame on the lawn and then enjoy the pavilion if you get Pavilion tickets. You won't be allowed into the pavilion until 30-60 minutes before the show starts. The shows generally start on time. The lawn is where the party is at. It's broken in sections, some is reserved for group tickets. The rest is generally first come first served. You can bring blankets, chairs, food and drink. You can buy libations and snacks from the shop but they can be spendy. Folks get very creative with their BYO. You may or may not be able to see anything on the lawn but the sound is pretty good since they renovated. Rental chairs are available but can sell out, best to reserve in advance. There are a couple restaurants onsite. Best to make a reservation if possible. There may be bar seats available depending on the show and timing. Getting there can be what makes or breaks your experience. Best practice is to get there as early as possible to ensure you get parking or an early train. If you miss out on parking, there are overflow lots but they also sell out. The shuttles get full and you can end up waiting long times. The Metra can be convenient but at the end of the night it leaves almost an hour after the show ends. We've seen quite a few amazing shows in this unique under the stars boutique experience, including: Buddy Guy Johnny Lang Rob Thomas Violent Femmes with the Chicago Philharmonic KT Tunstell Roger Daltrey Dolly Parton John Fogerty Ricky Martin Paul Simon Can't wait to see what next season brings'

Basically though one of the main things you have to decide if you want to actually see the act or not. If it's classical, a picnic on the lawn maybe fine. Sound is great anywhere in the park except maybe the farthest corners. There is a usually big lawn screen for pop/rock acts, but the lawn is very crowded over there. If you want to actually see the act, you really must buy pavillion seats. Ravinia made it extra difficult after the 2026 remodel to get a glimpse of the acts while standing outside the pavillion. Otherwise I would have recommended that in the past as an option. For most acts we get to the park early, picnic on the lawn, and then move to our pavillion seats before the show starts. The picnic is fun and relaxing, and it is obviously so much less expensive than the food served in the park. Otherwise in a nutshell - Ticket prices: Fair, compared to other venues. And no gawdawful TicketMaster fees. Ticket ordering: A disaster. All tickets for the season go on sale the same day. Lawn: Nice but overcrowded. Can't see the act (except if near the big lawn screen). Very good sound. Pavilion: Very nice. 2026: New padded (wider?) seats. Excellent sound and views. Parking: A disaster, get there very early. I don't know about the train, it's not an option for me. Food and drink: Not very good and overpriced. Bring your own, it's a great perk about Ravinia actually.

However, the last few movies I saw were last minute and didn't leave many seat options at AMC. And so we ended up at CMC Old Orchard Luxury instead. However, this is anything, but luxury... - The line for the concessions is unnecessary long because they only have 1 person working it. And then you pick up your drink (and perhaps other things) in a window, which requires another wait. Why don't they have do it yourself fountain machines like the rest of the movie theaters/local businesses. - I've never met a movie theater popcorn I don't like until here. It's so stale and while i was bummed my husband got a kids pack popcorn for us to share at first, it turned out to be too much popcorn since it was inedible. The seats themselves are comfortable so they get a star for that. I recently when to the theater in the Glen and these seats definitely beat those, but AMC at NBC is still the winner when it comes to movie theaters in the North Shore. If you do find yourself here I suggest parking at Buffalo Wild Wings for an easy access to the theater unless you want to take advantage of all the dining/shopping options at Old Orchard.

I am OBSESSED with William Blake...like, I own his entire poetry collection and two coffee table art books (one of which is from the current Block exhibit -- Age of Aquarius -- that I had to buy after visiting). The current exhibit is freaking brilliant. It's so well done, amazingly curated and organized, and is really ingenious. I admittedly don't know much about art (I'm kicking myself now for never taking an art history class during my time at NU), but I've been to The Block several times over the years working there, and I'm ashamed I never went as an undergrad. In the meantime, I have a hot date with Blake at least 2-3 times more before it closes, including some of the fun special events they have planned in collaboration with other parts of the university and members of the Chicago community.
