DISGUSTING!!! This establishment is always dirty and unkept. The seats are filthy, the floors are coated in something slippery, multiple over flowing garbage cans, and the counters for the napkins and condiments are always littered with spills, popcorn and used dirty napkins. After a 3 hour movie nothing improved, in fact it was worse. A few minutes into the credits a young lady came in the theater and attempted to clean up the trash in the rows of seats with people already seated but that was futile and ridiculous. The decor in the theater looks very 80's. I don't understand how management allows this and keeps their job. We will not return for fear of taking bugs & germs home. Smh read more

Dirty sticky floors , overpriced concessions outdated seats that have seen better days

The place was wonderful my mom enjoyed her birthday and the movie we watched was soo good it was so unpredictable it's called Obsession.

The staff is very friendly, the food was good. and the bar is nice. The restroom was clean, but the seats are old uncomfortable & dirty!!

Love seeing a good movie, but here in theatre five - I don't think the seats have been upgraded or cleaned well since I was a young teen here in 2006. I will say the video and audio are still kicking but BARELY -(speakers sounded like they were broke) - Food here is good too! Get some popcorn and enjoy your show! read more

Movie was great, but theater #9 was very dirty, seats and walls were stained with who knows what and just plain grossand sticky, it needs a very deep cleaning. Then to top it off the popcorn was stale. Employees seemed to have better thing to do than take care of customers. Food expensive, service good, and ambiance good. Tickets expensive also. Prices stopped me from 1 or 2 movies a week to 1 or 2 a year.

Quick service at concessions, great sound and the laser projector made sharp visual. Family had a great time, looking forward to coming back yo watch The Warning concert film. read more

Every single time I come to this theater I have a very poor experience with the girl who sells tickets in the front. Whether it's her snatching tickets, her straight up yelling at us or just having no customer service etiquette, it makes our theater experience suck. I used to love coming here. Red headed bartender is extremely rude! Never in my life have I been forced to bartend. I asked her if she was able to make a drink and she rolled her eyes and replied no and turned her back to me. Asked for a beer and closed tab immediately. Was unaware that you're given gratuity when closing out with cash, no mention of it btw. Closed out with credit card, woman checks tab before grabbing beer and handing it to me. Unsatisfied with tip. States "next time tip your bartender better. " with her hand in my face to dismiss me. This place needs a huge revamp, only thing keeping it from a one star is the screen/picture quality. Parking lot is an absolute nightmare of potholes, poorly marked lines, and old patches that are disintegrating. Seats are worn out, dirty and uncomfortable at best. They did update the arcade area, added a bar.. all well and good but people don't go to theaters to have a drink. Should've spent that part of the budget on updates to the actual theaters. Went to theater to see Air. Bought tickets and chose seats ahead time which is always a plus. There's plenty of outdoor parking. The place wasn't too crowded and it took very little time to get our tickets checked and buy popcorn and drinks. The theater was on the smaller side but wasn't crowded. The sound and picture quality is good. The seats don't recline like the newer theaters but they were fine. Lots of snack options which is always a positive. read more

This theater needs an update and remodel. The seats are old, dirty, and narrow... even in the 3D theater. The sound system was very clear but volume is turned up so loud that we had to leave during previews. Customer service is very good though. They were very courteous, empathetic, and they refunded our money. read more

I have never been to this theater before and I went to see two films. The first film played just fine without any problems. The second movie, Fly Me to the Moon, played on one of their biggest screens but the film was playing wrong. The picture was in the middle of the screen with black bars all around. I went and talked to the manager (MIKE). MIKE kind of blew me off but he said they would "look into it". They didn't. Then another person went and complained because the sound got worse as the film played. It was very hollow, tin-y, and was only coming out of the center and right speakers. Again, nothing was done. I finally had enough and went to talk to the manager again. When I told MIKE the problems hadn't been fixed, MIKE sat back in his chair and laughed at me. Not a big laugh but one of the condescending small laughs. MIKE told me they are not checking it again. I told MIKE they didn't check the first or second time but MIKE blew me off. I asked for MIKE's name and MIKE refused to give it to me. I told MIKE he was ripping people off and I left. On my way home, I called the theater FOUR times and no one picked up. I turned around and went back to the theater. I talked to a really nice girl who had scanned my ticket for the film and she gave me his name which is MIKE. I thanked her and left. I will NEVER return to this theater after the way I was treated. MIKE needs a reality check. You can't talk to people like that. MIKE was rude, condescending, and not a very nice person. When I complained both times, I was nice about it and I was met with by being laughed at. That is right. MIKE laughed at me for wanting to see the film the way it was supposed to be seen. Not the most comfortable movie theater but it did that job. It was actually pretty difficult to find since there are 2 AMC 2 min away from each other and of course we went to the wrong one first. The tickets were cheap which explains the 0 leg room and uncomfortable chairs. I personally prefer to spend more and get to actually be comfortable but since we were in Indiana and we're in a hurry that was our best option. read more

UPDATE 2 Thanksgiving Friday 2023. Auditorium 13 was very clean and odor free. Screen was a bit small but laser projection was perfect. Audio was twice as loud as it needed to be, I suggest bringing tissue to stick in your ear. And did I mention the audio is very distorted? Old seats were comfortable but need replacing with the recliners at newer AMC venues. Getting to the seats was very complicated and inefficient when buying tickets on line. Mens room very clean and odor free. All told though, I have decided it's just not worth the price to go to the theater for a movie. Matinee tickets averaged about $9 x four of us at about $36. Online convenience fee is $8+ for buying the tickets. A large popcorn is $10+, and how many sodas do you want at $7.50 each? $30 for four would buy 18 two liter bottles when they are on sale. Plus we are about an hour drive each way so add another $14 for gas. Total price to see the movie was about $98 for four! I love theaters with big screens and sound but these aren't those. A 90 minute movie takes a whole day to travel to. I'm sorry but I just cannot support theaters any longer when I can wait 45 days and buy a 4K UHD disc for $29 delivered to my home. No travel to watch it repeated times in comfortable chairs with my own refreshments at less than a buck each. For their own benefit, these theaters should study the price and return curves. Instead of making $5.75 profit by selling four sodas at $1.50 each, they made zero profit selling no sodas. And discouraged return visits. I don't, unfortunately, see much of a future for theaters. read more

This place is disgusting. Went there last night to see Thanksgiving, and the whole place was dirty. The lobby, bathrooms, bar area and the theater itself. There was carpet coming off the partitions, the seats felt dirty, the carpet was dirty. Schererville is a nice area and this theater is an abomination. I can't believe this is what AMC allows. I'll never go back to this theater, I'll make the drive to the Emagine theater in portage from now on. read more

I have hearing loss, I need closed captions for every movie I see. There should be Open captions for every movie because those little devices aren't dong there job. They're always broken or dead. And no one likes to read from the cupholder. People who are deaf and have hearing loss disabilities (like me) should be able to go to the movie theater and enjoy it just as much as regular people do. We went to see the new Avatar movie in IMAX at this theater. We traveled over the border from IL just because of the 3D IMAX feature. Overall a solid movie and cool effects but not wowed, severely underwhelmed largely with the setup. Seats were cheap, old and springy, we were packed like sardines and it was super cramped when people had to get up during the 3 hrs of the movies. All in all, I'd rather go to a Marcus near me with spacious dreamlounger seating and discounted tix. Would not come back to this location. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY GOING HERE!!! Also make sure you go to the correct theatre. This was totally my fault, as I went to AMC Schererville 12 instead of AMC Schererville 16 which is a couple blocks away. We come to Crown Point a handful of times in the summer and this is the first time going to see a movie in Indiana. Not only are the tickets more money than the prices in the Chicago burbs, but the food and drinks are crazy expensive as well. All of the theaters by us are amazing. The chairs rock, they recline, you can even get a pillow and blanket if you ask. THESE seats sucks! The chairs are so uncomfortable, and you can barely move in them. I thought I was in a 1990's theatre. The worst is when my feet were sticking to the floor! I can't believe they charge way more money for nothing! We actually left the movie due to bugs flying all around us. they were swarming our food and drinks. talked to management and they couldn't figure out how to refund our money, so gave us free passes. we will never be returning. The seats are very uncomfortable and the seating is tight so I hope you are sitting next to someone you like if not it will be a long movie. We saw The Sound of Freedom today. The building, bathroom, snack bar and theater were filthy. A family, mom, dad, gram and 6 kids probably under 8 were in our theater. It's rated PG13 and I know....the parents were with them. The baby cried off and on. There were a number of older people who couldn't find their seats. Three different groups of people just sat down in seats that weren't their seats but stayed there until the actual ticket holders showed up. The movie was very eye opening but half the audience didn't stay for the "special message" after the credits. I'll check out another theater. read more

AMC Schererville 16 reminds me of why I hate to go to the movies. Tonight, I paid $12.50 to see the movie "Smile". I was pleasantly surprised that this movie is a true horror film and not just some brain dead, slasher schtick. No matter how good the film was, I could not enjoy it because the movie cinema contained no less than 12 middle school children in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. In spite of the fact it is an R-rated movie, these twerps were not accompanied or supervised by any adult, whatsoever. The illusion of being immersed in the story was ruined because these children kept getting up and literally running through the theater while the film was playing. Also, these snots would not stop talking, giggling, or belching regardless of how many times they were shushed. The jackanapes also kept taking out their phones and distracting the audience with the lights from their devices. My first question is, if the movie is rated R, who let them in? AMC must really be hard up for business if they allow children to watch R-rated films, (I had to wait til I was 17 before I was even allowed in the theater where an R rated film was being shown!). My second question is, are there no ushers checking the R-rated movies to ensure that children did not sneak in (which is against the theater rules)? Consequently, I cannot recommend this theater until they start monitoring who is in each cinema and if they are behaving appropriately. I certainly hope this review was seen by someone in charge of the theater. If I can't get my money back, I'd like to know what they are going to do in the future to keep loud, obnoxious, brats from ruining an otherwise good time at the theater. read more

They are out of Minute Maid drinks - MINUTE MAID????? What in the hell is going on here?????????

I was so excited to go to the movies with my family and experience a great movie. Each of us took a seat and you soon noticed that the drink holders are very shallow, therefore making it easy to tip your drink over. As we were getting settled in with a person on each side of me I had to set with my arms folded or be totally embarrassed by wanting just relax and rest my arm on a 2 inch area of space and therefore inconveniencing others. Please fix this problem with armrest for each person and deeper drink holders. read more
