The chef is a former Sous Chef from a Michelin star restaurant in Las Vegas. The food was good, the flavor spot on. I would stick with the fish or chicken offerings over the meat dishes, but one in our company did love their meat dish as well. The bread is fantastic, even though you pay $3 for it, do it--well worth the cost because both the bread and the dipping oil with honey and balsamic reduction are utterly fantastic. Attractive setting/dining area as well. What is amazing here are the prices for what you get, very reasonable! We were astonished, and we do hope to spread the word that for the money, you really can't go wrong at this restaurant. We weren't sure, but definitely glad we gave it a try! Food was incredible, service was fantastic! Our server was Deanna and she didn't miss a beat! My husband had the cod fish & chips which were amazing and not overly breaded, I don't eat much fried food so Deanna had them grill my halibut.....all I can say is YUM! We also started with oysters on the half shell and the buffalo wings (not breaded) EVERYTHING was up to par and there was nothing on our table that we could have considered less than great. After hearing about Amelies on TV, we decided to give it a try and wow! were we surprised. The inside is inviting and attractive, the service was excellent and the food was a great surprise. Delicious shrimp & pasta with sirloin steak made my husband happy and I thoroughly enjoyed the halibut and chips which gave me a large helping with plenty to take home for another entire meal. The seafood boil with crab, mussels, shrimp, potato and corn was.in a garlic butter sauce with spice that was flavorful. The chef came by with sangria that was quite tasty. We just had a wonderful meal at Amelie's. We got there during happy hour and ordered appetizers from the happy hour menu. We had the calamari, oysters Rockefeller, the wagyu ravioli and a cup of chowder. We were pleasantly surprised at the portions, presentation and how delicious everything tasted. The calamari is quite spicy so if you are not a spice fanatic ask for it on the side. The oysters came out flaming and were excellent. The ravioli and chowder did not disappointed. Our server was attentive, courteous and the knowledgeable about the menu. We even had the manager/owner visit our table to ask about our meal. The ambiance was elegant but not overly and we felt comfortable in our casual attire. We will be back and will definitely try one of the boils as we oooed when it came to the table near us. The food menu didn't seem appealing first off, so I just went with an appetizer of fried calamari. It was terrible. The only flavor that could be tasted was that of rancid cooking oil. Otherwise, it was the most bland calamari I've ever had. The bartender was friendly and professional, but the rest of the waitstaff just walked around and cursed and complained the whole time I was sitting there. Best Caesar salad I've ever had. Weird thing to review, but it was exceptionally fresh and tasty. Calamari made the perfect appetizer. Clam chowder was excellent. The Hawaiian shrimp were also a big hit at our table. Oh! And I'm so glad we ordered dessert cause the beignets were better than ones we even ate in Louisiana. The chef here is obviously talented. The old brick building and ambiance has so much character that it feels more like an experience than just a meal. Our server had a fun personality and kept things moving at the perfect pace. I also noticed that they have an event room that would make for a great party or wedding venue. There's lots of seating, a dance floor and patio area. We had the fish and chips, I liked the flavor of the fries, had a nice spice but my husband thought they were to soggy. The fish was good , he would have liked it cooked in several pieces instead of one big one. Tried the Citrus Louis salad, ordered to go and it was missing the dressing so maybe it would have been better with their vinaigrette. I would have liked the shrimp grilled better and the crab was to fishy for me. It also didn't have the pistachio crunch listed on the menu. It was so scrumptious and delicious. We got the le captain boil Cajun style it was very good we also had the cauliflower bites and those were amazing. My favorite place for a seafood boil. Never disappoints. Happy hour is also a great time for really cheap drinks. 2$! For a lemonade vodka tea that was strong but delicious at the same time. Country Bay Bistro- nope Came with the girls for our lunch break. So disappointed. The atmosphere is ok. Service started out great but once they knew I didn't like my food, they barely came back. We had to ask for drink refills since they wanted to cash us out quickly. Food is way under seasoned and slightly overcooked. Lobster tail was overcooked and extremely hard to remove from the shell. The shrimp fried rice over seasoned and very salt. Scallops had absolutely no flavor-even the garlic butter was mediocre. The mixed veggies way undercooked and had a very bad taste as if they couldn't figure out what to spice them with. The Bacon Benedict was the only truly tasty dish. The red potatoes very well cooked. This place is a hidden gem. The food, service, and ambiance are amazing. I had one of the best meals I have had in a long time, and I am a bit of a "foodie." I ordered the Beef Bourguignonne, and it was fabulous. So tender you could almost cut it with a fork! My friend ordered the Steak Frites, and she was just as pleased. The most incohesive restaurant. There is nothing French about the menu, it is all over the map, as if they are using the former seafood menu as a template. The ravioli were wontons. It's a cool building, but not French. A French restaurant would not have football on or have butcher table paper, which is fine if they are sticking with the seafood boils (of which there are alot). I've been to this location many times over the years. I loved the original seafood place but can't remember the name of the now nearly defunct chain. As for O'Crab, it was pretty good but this place is so big and they seldom filled it up. Their Nampa location seems to be going strong. I wasn't expecting much since there were almost no cars in the entire parking lot at 2 pm on a Monday. Both Cracker Barrel next door and Twin Peaks down the block a bit looked fairly crowded. I only ordered appetizers. Fried calamari/oysters combo and a bowl of clam chowder. My waitress recommended the chowder over the other soups. I can see why! It was a good amount with great flavor and plenty of baby clams (15-20) on top. They seemed to have been cooked in the chowder rather than added as an afterthought. The broth was wonderful and this was not just potato soup with clams added. There was also some small pieces of toast that were perfect for sopping. I'd eat this anytime. I'd suggest a side plate to put all the clam shells in. As for the calamari, there are two ways to perfectly cook it. Lightly cook for a minute or two--sometimes even less. OR cook it a long time until it turns tender again. This was just a bit undercooked. It needed maybe 20 more seconds in the deep fryer. Some thin circles were done, most were like rubber bands. The taste was excellent with the lemon. I took about 60% home and reheated/finished in the oven for lunch the next day. The oysters were nicely cooked but had a slight irony flavor. A bit more than usual. There were plenty of them. The value of the calamari/oyster appetizer was tremendous. Country Bay is full of antique items. It's very clean and everyone was friendly. Still kind of a nautical theme but more downbeat than Red Lobster. Either way, I'd definitely go back for chowder alone, and next time I'll have a dinner as well. (Follow up, I drove by Sunday afternoon on my way to Costco. There were barely a handful of cars in the lot. If you like this place, go often and immediately. It won't last much longer otherwise). read more

My friend and I came into Amelies on Dec 17, 2025 and this is my new favorite restaurant. The ambiance was awesome: chandeliers and lighting was perfect. The menu was very eclectic which it was interesting to read. My friend had the Jager Schnitzel which she liked. We had both been in Germany so I thought she had a good read on it. I had the fish and chips. I'm always afraid to order that because so many times it's fishy or greasy or the breading is awful. It was perfect in every way. We shared the cauliflower bites. Oh my goodness, I can't wait to go back in for these. The sauce was so good and the breading on the cauliflower was perfect. The owners introduced themselves. Received a coupon in the mail for $9.99 fish and chips, cod or halibut. My husband and I both ordered the halibut. This was our first time here. The fish was mushy and did not have the consistency of halibut so we doubt it was halibut. My husband also got a cup of the tomato bisque. He took one sip of the soup and slid it away saying it tasted "off". Not good at all. He told the waitress but all she did was take it away and she did not remove it from our bill. We enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating our 59th Anniversary, culminating with a very special dinner at Amelie's. That story is romantic in itself because the owner & fabulous chef, Jason Wang, named the reimagined restaurant after his wife, Amelie. They were both such gracious hosts, along with our terrific server, Neil. The inside of the restaurant provides a lovely atmosphere and every bite of food was delicious--from the mouth watering appetizers to the amazing entrees.
