    The store front

I usually don't leave reviews but I am surprised at the improvements they've made, as a person who's been visiting this location for 3 years. Their services has improved tremendously, the wait time has decreased, and the food has started to taste better. The surroundings seem clean, the area is spacious, and the tables are generally clean. I would really recommend some tenders and brown rice from here. It is just the perfect dinner when I need to have something filling and is too lazy to cook myself something after a tiring day of work.

Just flew back into town and we didn't feel like cooking, but my wife wanted wings so we checked out this place down the road. We ordered Lemon Pepper and bbq wings, onion rings, and fries. Neither of us were a fan of the plain tasting onion rings and fries. We were hoping for something homemade with flavor I guess, not something I could've purchased at the grocery store next door to the wing place. The wings were good though. My wife thought the lemon pepper were too salty...that tanginess...but I told her I've had worse. I tend to like it. It seems many order in advance and pickup. We ordered at the store and had to wait about 20 minutes. Not sure we would return to try another of their 30 wing flavors or look elsewhere.

I ordered the grilled whiting with dirty rice combo via uber eats, the food came hot and fresh! Although the fish was lightly seasoned with garlic pepper, I wish they added a little more however once I squeezed the lemons on top it was pretty tasty :)

Very Impressed!!! This place first of all was super clean. Our order was ready for pick up right on time. Staff was very personable and actually cleaning when we got there. Wings were very fresh and by far king of the kitchen when it comes to a perfectly perfected wing. The Philly was fresh, not on an Ambrosia, but good just the same. Who would have thought, my best food review in DC is the chicken shop in the Supermarket parking lot. You must dine in or order from here!!!

This is definitely a hole in the wall-type restaurant. The exterior isn't great, and honestly the inside isn't much either. There's no place to sit, you come to order your food and go- but the service and quality of the food more than make up for it. We ordered an XL order of soy garlic wings (20 pieces) and a M order of honey spicy (10 pieces) and it was more than enough for 6 people. The crunch and flavor were TOP. I heard great things about the honey lemon pepper wings only after we placed our order, but unfortunately we didn't get to order any. I also have to shout out the employee that took our order. He was so friendly to us and also threw in extra sauces and Oreos when he saw we were celebrating my bachelorette. That extra touch of customer service made our visit here memorable. I'll be back to try the honey lemon pepper soon! - Ambiance: 3/5 - Food: 5+/5 - Service: 5++/5

Don't take it from me...if you're on social media you'll see that food influencers have travelled from afar to rate these wings. And even they were in disbelief how amazing these wings were. The honey lemon pepper is not just a unique sounding flavor but the taste execution is something else. If you haven't tried KoChix don't walk...RUN! Service is always nice and they get orders ready fairly quickly for a fried wing joint. Ambiance isn't much to write about. Kind of your standard takeout place. We got the wings and stood outside and enjoyed them. The weather was nice. Bring plenty of paper towels and water to rinse your hands off.

You will find a few parking spots on the street in front of the restart and within a reasonable walking distance. They serve wings and tenders with a large selection of sauces to choose from. I placed my order online, so it was ready by the time I got there. I just double parked, like most people do in the city, ran in and got my food. The staff there was very nice. The inside customer area is very small, but I was in and out. I ordered 10 wings, which I thought I ordered in 2 flavors. however it only came in one, mambo. That is ok. The wings were very delicious. I mean like finger licking delicious, packed with flavor. I also got a side of mac and cheese, which was also really good. It was cheesy like I like it, fresh and tasty. All in all, I really enjoyed my meal here. I am always skeptical when a see a restaurant claiming to have the best of something. This restaurant claims to have the best. After eating my meal, I would say there is some truth to that. I highly recommend checking this place out.

There was no Parmesan cheese on the salad, and there were 2 croutons in the salad. Pass. Perhaps it would be good as compost. There was no tomato soup delivered. Instead, there was an extra tub of Mac n' cheese, which was tasteless. The hummus was good, but the wedges of pita bread were hard, possibly a week or two old. Disappointing, but it's okay to serve crap food to people restricted to the hotels in snow-bound DC.

These are the classic characteristics of traditional smoked chicken wings. The tenders on the other hand are good however not as crispy on the breading as I'd like. I believe they are trying to accomplish a soft breading which is OK however theirs is a different kind of soft breading resulting from the batter/flour and frying process. Borderline soggy. These tenders are very tender and would be exceptional if they'd change their flouring and frying technique. Overall a good chicken tenders that I'd purchase again when ordering chicken wings. I don't think I'd travel here exclusively for tenders. As far as sauces are concerned, I tried the Smokey Buffalo, Alabama White BBQ and Honey Mustard. Would like to have some traditional flavors available for the traditional palates. Overall a very good experience.

My grilled chicken was moist, flavorful, and cooked very well. The fried catfish was not too salty and had great balance where you can taste the fish. The mac and cheese, cabbage, and green beans were all of nice quality, the weakest link is the potato salad, however that is a dish that can be complicated for different restaurants to get the hang of, fortunately I can prepare some awesome potato salad myself. The peach half and half drinks were balanced perfectly well not too sugary and sweet. I swear some of these places make drinks way too sweet and you want to check your insulin levels. The server was highly attentive and a great conversationalist and paid attention to our wants and needs and had superb professionalism and a strong work ethic. He was hospitable and accommodating. The staff was friendly and approachable. We had fun and enjoyed this more than Milk and Honey and even Carolina Kitchen. DC keeps gentrifying and losing its soul, but there are still some hidden gems around. This spot blends in with the Walmart, and funnily enough I have driven past here a gazillion of times and assumed it was some bakery or another spot and did not know it was a soul food joint, something DC has been minimizing and pushing out to Maryland like the city always does. I think it is masterful that they use clear plastic containers for their food making it easier for the staff as that can be expensive and time consuming with the dish washing/prep, sound economical move. It is nice that the business (U Street etc. location) has been in the DMV for over 20 years and expanded to Baltimore in Fells Point. I think Baltimore will like this spot! This felt authentic and soulful in a way that I had not experienced in the city in quite some time, as the city has had a lot of restaurants be sterile, bland, flavorless, and catered to certain demographics while completely ignoring others. I liked the soundtrack with R&B and was able to hear some TLC on the soundtrack which was very nostalgic and a throwback to DC before the gentrification when it was truly Chocolate City! Overall, it is a spot that you can visit more than once certainly not a one and done like a lot of restaurants that lack service, food, and ambiance/vibe.

At that time, I was upset about what happened with George Floyd a week earlier; still in 2026, it was wrong what happened to Floyd (not to mention more recent news that happened in that city was horrible too). I hung out with a friend on that warm day having a beer outside his apartment in Takoma Park. He is a mega-leftist politically (I'm more independent), but said he wanted to support a black-owned business; I said that's a good idea; I might do that for dinner. He was doing his own thing for dinner, so I was on my own. So, I looked up on Yelp what was in the area, and I saw just across the border in DC, Oohh's & Aahh's. Staff was nice, and I got a fried chicken platter. As this was Covid times, there was no dine-in. So, I schlepped all the way straight up Georgia Ave 6 miles back to my home in Wheaton fairly quickly on that Sunday as I don't like my food getting cold. I think my food stayed pretty hot as it was well-wrapped, and if it had cooled off, I could always microwave at home. The fried chicken, mac n' cheese (my favorite vegetable...I know not really a veggie but a joke), etc. were all solid. If I was ever over here, I'd consider coming back; just so rare I go to DC these days.
