When your washing machine is broken you need service within a couple days. Strange message I wish this company the best. But evidently they don't want any new business at the present time. This was such an unbelievably wonderful experience for us. The freezer on the fridge in our new house hadn't been working since we moved in. We called our home warranty company, who sent someone out to add freon and then just gave up on the thing when that didn't fix the problem. We were searching for a replacement fridge (for a $7K custom build in ). I was a little wary of this place when I saw they used an answering service, and worried they would farm out my work. I was grateful to get a call back within an hour of my call, and had a technician thoroughly assess what was going on over the phone. I'd seen other reviews mention they came out with the tools needed to get the job done, and think this is incredibly thoughtful, as most other spots seem to be happy to charge you for an extra service visit after the initial assessment. Vic came in, immediately spotted the problem (dirty condenser coils!) fixed it on the spot, and even inspected and fixed a separate appliance. He was great about explaining what went wrong and letting us know how to maintain it ourselves. After months without a freezer, we were back in business within hours, with great advice to boot. He even texted to follow up a few hours after he left to see if things were going okay. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I called on July 4th 2021 (and left a message) and didn't receive a response back (as it is 7 days later). I called them back after they reached out. Backstory: I had a dishwasher that needed service. It took them 4 months to get the part (which I guess happens). However, the first guy barely looked at the dishwasher and immediately said I should get Greenbacks from DTE (to get a whole new dishwasher). I knew the dishwasher was fine and just needed a new heating coil (red flag number 1). The second guy (with the part) indicated that the company couldn't be liable for pulling out the dishwasher (and ruining the wood floors). I called back and asked if they could have someone look at it again (as the second guy didn't even look under the dishwasher) to see if it could be pulled out. This will be an unusual recommendation, because I didn't actually need a service visit! I phoned American Appliance Repair request a check of my Jenn Air gas stove burners, which had been slow to fire up and burned yellow flame instead of blue. A technician called me back, explained that humidify in the house can cause yellow/orange flames, and described ways for me to first try cleaning the burners myself. He told me to call back if his suggestions didn't work. Well, voila - they did! I greatly appreciated his honesty and time. Other repair businesses would have sent a service person out and charged $$$ for the visit. Their approach alone impressed me, and if/when another appliance goes on the fritz in the future, I'll be calling them again. read more

A few places on Yelp were inaccessible, others offered ridiculous quotes and there was a long wait to schedule. I called to schedule an appointment and the woman who answered the phone said they do service GE front load washers. The way it works is they put your info into the computer and a tech calls you back. She couldn't tell me any timeframe for when I would get a call back. A tech called me back pretty quickly but immediately said they do not service GE appliances and that they answering service doesn't know that. Just seemed weird and poor customer service. read more

Called them Thursday morning to see if someone could come out and look at our refrigerator's ice maker. The repairman showed up precisely on time (called ahead to make sure someone would be there!), diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 20 minutes. He then inspected our leaking freezer, figured out its problem and fixed it in no time at all! Can't say enough good things about this company. After a frustrating few days of calling many appliance repair companies a neighbor recommended American Appliance Service. Spoke to the office and they said the techs set the appointments and one would call me. Jason called shortly after and was able to give a tentative 'diagnosis' on my refrigerator and checked that he had the likely part needed in stock. Came the next morning and made the repair, but as there was a chance that there was an additional problem he left an invoice but said to wait a day or so to make sure the problem was resolved before paying, and If there were further problems to call and he'd come back. He called to check in two days later as well. Highly recommend the expertise and customer service. They'll definitely be my first call for appliance repair in the future. read more

We have a Sub Zero fridge that needed a new slide arm for one of the drawers. Another company (the only official SubZero approved service in St. Louis) quoted us a ridiculous price for parts and labor, so we ordered the part ourselves and called American Appliance. Right off the bat, they were very accommodating with our schedule. They were willing to come the next day, but we opted for 1 week later. The technician was quite friendly and knowledgeable. He was very efficient and finished the job in a timely fashion. Total charge was about 6x less expensive than the other business. We couldn't be more thrilled and would definitely recommend any SubZero owner to call them with any issues! read more

I am giving this service three stars instead of one because the first time we had them come out in March to fix our refrigerator it was a successful transaction. This time we couldn't get past the dispatcher who first put us on a week-long waiting schedule, but then after a week when we called to check our status he denied we had ever been put on the schedule. When he finally admitted we were on the schedule, he claimed (falsely) that someone had already been out and reported they couldn't fix our refrigerator. His tone was rude and dismissive throughout. When the part came in and they gave me a call with the price of the part, I asked if there would be any other additional charges beyond the part and the service call. I was told no. One of the best customer service experiences I've had! Initial phone call was handled well and then passed off to the technician who called me later that day to find out what the problem was. My issue was my freezer on my Jenn-air unit was malfunctioning sometimes going back to 0° and then sometimes going as high as 24° I spoke to the technician when he called me and he asked me some good questions to help him diagnose the issue and then he came the next day with the appropriate part and my freezer was running like new! The technician was very professional and very efficient. The rate charged for the repair was very reasonable. I had contacted Jenn-air to see what repair service they recommended and when I checked Google all the reviews on that repair service were terrible so I canceled my service call with them and booked with American appliance service and am I glad I did! He was here today, diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes and then didn't even charge me, b/c it was going to cost more for him to fix the washer than for us to buy a new one.
