Recently Moved to Joshua Tree from San Diego and blew the motor on my van pulling a trailer too heavy for my vehicle. Vehicle was old and tired so decided to buy another rather than pay a mechanic $6K to replace the motor of a vehicle with 280,000 miles on it.. Just bought a 2012 van with 62k miles on it from American Auto Dealers today for $2k less than I could have bought it anywhere else. I plugged my computer with a very good diagnostic program into the van's computer before I bought it to see if there was something hinky with it that wouldn't be obvious on a test drive. The readings on the diagnostic program during the test drive were as good those on a new car. Van came with Carfax info sheet that listed 26 service records for the van. All service was only for maintenance while under warranty to keep the warranty valid, nothing else. I read Yelp reviews for American Auto Dealers before I went there. There were very good reviews with a few very bad ones. I read both good and bad. I know from having been in business myself that you can't please everyone and then there are those who are just haters who seem to get a kick out of putting others down for whatever psychological deficiency they have that drives them to do such a thing. All the cars are clearly marked that they are sold AS IS. Not one of the people who wrote bad reviews stated that they had made the effort to do a proper inspection of the car or took it to a reputable mechanic to have it inspected before they purchased it. I say too bad for them if they weren't happy with what they got. Sonny is a VERY personable person to deal with as well. I purchased an excellent vehicle at an exceptionally fair price. Well, after talking to the shop and luckily a tow driver that actually knew there were issues with this truck that Sunny 100% knew about but lied and hid, I have now contacted the BBB and a lawyer who is looking into this. I called sunny and asked him to make it right, he did not care in the least. No problem. He obviously has no clue what I do and the people I will contact. I will have this place CLOSED before Christmas. All I wanted was for this crook to be a decent person and give me what I paid for. But I guess thats too much to ask. I have bought 4 vehicles over the course of about 8 years from here. I was sent here by a friend of mine. Two of the four vehicles are still on the road today. The other two suffered their fate of old age and miles but trust and believe they got their monies worth. The two that are still running are a 2002 Dodge Neon that I'm sure has well over 200k on it. It had one or two things happen to it when in bought it in which Sunny had no issues helping me! The other that is still on the road today is a 2006 GMC Envoy XL that might I add we bought for over 7,000 off bluebook! The car was almost four years old when we bought it with very low miles. She is still running to this day and the only issues she's had were recalls. I don't see how y'all say you are scammed, if you don't research what you are buying that is your fault! You are free to have any vehicle anywhere you are trying to buy and have them inspected. Of course it costs to do so unless you have a friend that will do it for free. Exercise that right you have.......another thing don't drive a used car like you stole the damn thing either until you know what it can take........ I would have no issue buying a car here again! I still often check the site to see what's available. I just prefer to pay cash for cars when I'm not buying them brand new! Sunny always has one of the best priced assortment of trucks and SUVs at great prices! Anyways to each their own but I cannot see him scamming anyone. What I can see is some pissed off angry people flipping out to where his only stance would be to ignore you until you can be civilized and calm. These people saying there is another side to the story are full of it. Sunny fed u some BS. You want the whole true story???? I read what Sunny had to say and he lied. Yes he did help me with an alternator but that was after the fact that my check engine light had come on a week after I bought the car took it to Vegas and after I had questioned him why it took so long to smog my car. While i was waiting with the money in hand to get my car he told me that they had to drive it for it to adjust to the new elevation it was at cause it was from down the hill. I am a girl and don't know much about cars. (Now i think he was running around trying to find a place to illegally smog my car.) He was never rude too me but lied about helping me. I told him I was iffy about purchasing the vehicle and he reassured me that everything was fine and that if anything was to come up with the car by the time it was time to smog it that he would take care of it. So I purchased the car thinking that by the way he smoothed talked me he was a man of his word. So I waited and every month I would call and leave a message which he never returned. I eventually got to the point where I told my bf that we would probably have to take care of it. My bf got out of the military so we had to relocate to Stockton and the car kept getting worse. Unfortunately yes we moved but the whole time I was down there he never once tried to return my phone call. So one day when it was really bad I called agian and he happened to answer and told me he would look into getting the part and that he would call me back, in the meantime he told me to get a quote on how much it would be to get it fixed. I called around and found a place that would do it in yucca valley for around $750. He never called me back. A month later I called agian he answered and told me he was still looking.....(in the meantime you couldn't have called me to tell me the status?) Anyways I informed him of my estimate and that I was willing to pay half. He said he still wanted to look around for cheaper!!!!! Really I was going to pay half . I also informed him that I would come down there when he got the part that it wasn't an issue since he agreed to help me. So once agian I waited for a call for about three weeks he never called. I finally called agian and he said I can get the part ( oh really? Cause u never called to inform me) but you have to pay for the part and I'll take it to my mechanic to install it? Um no for one after all you put me through I don't trust you and I don't trust your mechanic. So all in all he lied and said he would fix it when the time came which he didn't he tried to find a way out of it where it was no cost to him. If I were him I would have paid half to get it fixed to make sure my customer was satisfued, felt safe, and proved I was a man of my word. He knew he shut off that check engine light, he knew the issues, but lied because he is a money hungry scam artist. It's just funny my mom and friend had the exact same issue. I did consult legal advice told them of my situation and that what he did was illegal i had a good case and i could have took action. I didn't want to waste anymore time. So I traded in the car and the "Professional dealership I went to said I got ripped off as well. Now I have An amazing car with no issues. I ask that you do take any car you consider purchasing from this man for a full on inspection because if I would have done that instead of taking his word I wouldn't have been in that situation . read more
