I received a couple recommendations to use American Auto Shipping, but it's been an absolute nightmare for me. Besides the recommendations, I was also lured in by their reasonable prices and the promise of a free car wash. Below is the timeline of events: Before and around 12/4/2021, I inquired with American Auto Shipping for the service of shipping my family's car across the country. The latest shipping quote I received on 12/4 was for $1669. On 12/6 I tried to accept the quote, but kept getting an error online. I initiated a live chat on the website and Jasmine called me. She took my details over the phone and took my credit card information over the phone for $319. ($1275 due upon delivery). I informed Jasmine that the car was available starting Monday, 12/6 and must be PICKED UP before Saturday, 12/11 because the family member in possession of the car was moving out of Massachusetts on Sunday, 12/12 (therefore, Sunday was not an available pickup option). She advised that STANDARD service should be sufficient because it had a 93% chance of being picked up within 1-5 days, with Monday, 12/6 being Day 1. Therefore it had a high chance of being picked up by Friday, and if it wasn't, I could cancel the order for a full refund. After I signed the contract, I sent an email stating that I was anxious to get the car picked up by the end of the week. Aerin gave me a call and reassured me that 93% of the time, my kind of shipment would be picked up within the time period, and if not, I was entitled to a full refund. On 12/7 I sent another chat to support to indicate my anxiety and stress that the car did not receive any pickup dates yet. Aerin called me again and advised that if they were still unable to secure a shipping company by mid-day on 12/8, I should increase my payment by $200 to increase the chances of getting a pickup within 1-2 days. She reassured me that the vehicle would then have a very good chance of being picked up quickly (93% chance). On 12/8, American Auto Shipping increased the invoice by $200. I did not sign a new contract nor make any additional payments at this time. On 12/10, I received an email saying my order was assigned to a carrier and the pickup date would be between Sunday 12/12 and Monday 12/13 (!!!!!). As I had mentioned multiple times to both Jasmine and Aerin, the vehicle had to be picked up by the end of the week, Saturday 12/11, and would NOT be available afterwards. I immediately tried to call the driver and left a message asking if it was possible to pick up on Saturday, but he did not reply. I called driver's company as well and was unable to reach anyone. I then called American Auto Shipping three times and was passed through a couple representatives before I finally reached Aerin again, who stated that I was not eligible for a refund and she strongly advised finding someone to release the vehicle, leaving it at a dealership, or leaving it in a public place unattended. I attempted to find a friend, but it was too late notice and inconvenient, and I tried to call the car dealership, but was unable to reach anyone to ask if it was ok to leave it. Leaving the vehicle unattended in a public parking lot was not an option for me. With the help of a friend, I immediately made other arrangements for the vehicle and cancelled the shipment by calling and emailing my cancellation request and reasons to the email listed in the contract for cancellation, which was support@americanautoshipping.com. It bounced back as address not found, so I emailed it to Aerin instead at 2:45 pm. We also spoke on the phone and confirmed the cancellation. She wasn't very nice anymore at this point and said that any chargeback would be hard fought by them because they had already fulfilled their service. Absolute BS. On 12/11, I received a voicemail from Jasmine saying that the car would be picked up on Tuesday or Wednesday and if I still wanted to cancel it. I had to laugh. If I had stuck with them, Tuesday or Wednesday would now mean that my car would be unattended in a parking lot for 3-4 days. LOL. In order to have further documentation in writing, I sent a chat to their support team, which was marked as read by a human. TL;DR: The contract states that my vehicle would be PICKED UP in 1-5 weekdays from the first available pickup date, which was 12/6, at the agreed-upon price, or I would be issued a full refund including the down payment. 5 weekdays was 12/10. The vehicle was assigned to a carrier on 12/10 but was not able to be PICKED UP until 12/12, which is 7-8 days after first available pickup day. Then they delayed it until 12/13 or 12/14, which is 9-10 days. Therefore, the vehicle was not picked up within 1-5 weekdays as promised, and according to their contract I am due a full refund. read more

Hard to put in words how unprofessional these folks are. They took the order on 8/1 with a 5 day pick up window of 8/5 I tried reaching out on the last day of the pickup and a day before and after. The only response was we have not found a truck for your order. I was luckily able to find a different carrier (Road Runner) that was able to pick up the car in 2 days and delivered the car in the promised 7 days. Unbelievably trash, please whatever you do. Whatever your friend tells you, whatever the internet says, do not make this mistake like I did. I legit (really actually) had to call this company 6-8 times before they answer. You may find luck in the initial booking, but once you've booked it's a GHOST town I was floored at the trash of the service. All the employees will tell you is "a carrier hasn't been assigned to your route." Nothing else, ever, even if they're 2 weeks late to pick up the car, nothing. "A carrier hasn't been assigned to your route." I want to get a voodoo doll that has a string that says this. Luckily they gave me a refund (after talking with them 2x and calling 6-8 times each time until I actually spoke with someone), and I booked with another company. I always book a month in advance, and they still take a week or three to pick up and deliver. They don't provide communication and just leave you hanging. I'm going to try and write a very long and comprehensive review because shipping a car is a nerve wracking experience and I do not believe there's enough information out there. Out of all the quotes I received, this company quoted me the least expensive. I have a regular 2008 SUV , nothing too fancy, it doesn't require special handling so went with them as they were the cheapest. I made a specific email to test if the claims that they sell your information holds true , I filled out their form on the website and immediately received a call from Aerin. We spoke about the details of the transport. Never received another spam email or any other emails besides the necessary ones from Aerin. I believe there's another website with the same name that is selling the information, as long as you follow the link on this yelp page I don't believe you'll have a problem with receiving spam calls and emails. Once they find you a driver, they charge you 20% of the quoted price and put you in contact with the driver. You will pay the remaining balance when they drop of the vehicle in cash/check. The driver wanted to pick up the car 3 days before the scheduled pick up date we came to an agreement to pick it up one day earlier than scheduled. You're allowed to pack your trunk with 100lbs of items, I didn't pack anything too important just clothes, shoes etc. I strapped my pets cage the back seat as it didn't fit in the trunk and they didn't have a problem with that either. The driver walks around the vehicle with a form marking all dents and scratches on your car and then you sign, you receive a copy of this form. My car was picked up from NYC, I was under the impression that it would've been put on a tow truck from the beginning but the driver came with I guess another worker and drove my vehicle off, understandable as there is a lot of traffic in NYC. Aerin called me the day after pick up to see how things went and told me she will call when I receive the vehicle. During the transport part I received no further updates. My car was picked up on Sunday. Monday of the following week they had called me to ask if anyone can pick up the vehicle in Los Angeles. I didn't arrive until Wednesday of that week so they arranged to deliver it on Thursday morning to my address between 7-9am. The driver called me the morning of and arrived within the allotted time frame, this time the car was brought on a tow truck and delivered to my door. My car had an additional 50 miles and a quarter tank less gas than when I gave it to them. The outside of the car was very dusty, according to them they will reimburse you for a car wash, have not had one done so not sure how true that claims hold. I noticed that the spare tire cover for my vehicle was missing , I called Aerin to inform her as I had not noticed when the vehicle was dropped off. I couldn't get a hold of her and was told she would call me back, so far no phone calls. My car did not have any additional scratches or missing items that I've noticed so far. I called back to see if they could rectify the situation according to them since I had already received the vehicle there's nothing that they can do, I called back the driver and he had a nasty attitude about the situation got defensive from the beginning so I guess I'm left to pay for what they lost. What otherwise would have been a 5 star experience is now a 2 use at your own judgement. We shipped our car across the country "door to door". We were allowed to put boxes in it at no additional charge. The Russian driver called from a half hour away at a Lowes parking lot. He said he couldn't get his truck/trailer down the street (not true) and demanded $100 for hauling the boxes. After a half-hour argument, he gave up the keys without the $100. American Auto Shipping was completely unsympathetic and said to call their driver. Beware Rachel's response is utterly disingenuous. We were up front when we asked to put the boxes inside the car. They said it was ok as long as it was less than 100 lbs and also said the car could have a full tank of gas. Big trucks, long trailers, and long moving vans are common at this destination/neighborhood/street. Rachel is not being honest. The reason why your driver unloaded our vehicle more than 20 miles away was to create a desperate and urgent situation for us by making us drive 1/2 hour to pick it up and to gouge us for another $100-demanding it be sent directly into his personal account. This was calculated. We did not give in to your demands, but still had to be inconvenienced. There are several places within a half mile you could have chosen (see google maps). YOU DID NOT DELIVER THE VEHICLE TO THE DOOR! YOU DID NOT ATTEMPT TO DELIVER IT TO THE DOOR! YOU DID NOT HAVE THE DECENCY TO UNLOAD THE VEHICLE AT THE CLOSEST PARKING LOT DOWN THE BLOCK! YOU HELD OUR VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO GOUGE US FOR ANOTHER $100! If you continue to screw the public you will get more of these harsh, but true reviews. It seems that there are a lot of nightmares and shade with shipping cars and I'm happy that we went with American Auto Shipping. We shipped my car from Portland, OR to San Diego, CA (about 1,000 miles). Initially, we paid for an enclosed carrier at a premium price. My car wasn't picked up within five days of the available date because there weren't any enclosed carriers on the path. After calling customer service (just keep calling until you get someone on the line... I never received a call back when calling from my husband's phone and leaving his number), we switched the carrier to open and it was picked up four days later. We did end up having to leave the car with a friend and still paid the enclosed price, but there was no haggling which was good. The company we were matched with reached out to us before we got a connection message through AAS. I recommend confirming with your shipper that they are working with your carrier before giving them any information just to decrease your chances of being put into a poor position. After confirming that our shipper was working with AAS, we got the connection email from AAS and everything went decently smooth after this. The shipper dispatcher was pretty disorganized but with a few extra days they got the job done. I also recommend putting your initial pick-up date as soon as possible and anticipating a late pick up. I don't know where they get this "93% of cars get picked up on time," but I am highly skeptical. Overall, my car was delivered within a week of the original delivery date and was in great shape. I think that there was supposed to be a car wash, (my car arrived very dirty) but this is not a big deal. I'm happy that my car was delivered without any damage. My biggest issue was the inconsistent, incorrect, and at times rude communication. When I called them, they said "because I felled off shipping time window", suggested it is my fault, they have to pay more to the driver to ship my car... What a heck! Let me start with their glitchy website, which did not allow me to complete the order. Their very nice IT specialist ended up filling out the form for me. The available by date was incorrect, but customer service refused to correct it. From there things went downhill. I have been yelled at, hung up on, called names and told lies. I have filed formal complaints with 3 agencies so far. They still hold my deposit, but now refuse to talk to me, which is fine because I won't put up with the abusive phone calls. Communication is nonexistent. I paid for my car to be shipped from Colorado to New York on January 30 and was told it would be picked up February 6. They state they have a 93% success rate to have the car picked up within five days unfortunately, I waited 8 until mine was shipped. The worst part about this company is their communication is nonexistent. I was never filled in that the car was it was not being picked up that day. I would have to call them consistently with only a 10% chance that they'd actually pick up the phone. When you speak to a representative, they extremely Kurt and make it seem like they're doing you a favor. Most shipping companies should only take a deposit, and then you'll pay the driver when the car is delivered. This broker service takes the whole amount upfront. Once my car was finally dispatched they've emailed me the wrong drivers information. I called the driver consistently for 2 1/2 days until he finally picked up and I was informed me he's not my driver and does not have my car. I had to call the dispatch to figure out who my driver was only to find out that he was arriving late. Ultimately my car arrive safe and sound but the process was extremely frustrating. Do they have negative stars!!! Absolutely horrible customer service. They like to say '90% pickup rate within 4 days of YOUR scheduled request. What they should say is if your in the 10% that the truck doesn't show up then they literally have know idea when your pickup will be because according to 'Joshua' (they don't like giving last names ) "no one can predict the future . So how do they know when a truck will arrive". Not even an idea : 1day late ? 1 week late?? 1 year late?? Never?? I had a totally weird and creepy experience with these guys. Spoke with Rachel initially. She was straight-up professional and helpful. Everyone I dealt with thereafter was seemed out to lunch or plain shady. They couldn't find us a driver, and outside of automated emails, there was no useful communication.  We canceled the transaction.  Strangely, instead of just reversing the charge for our deposit, they insisted on returning our deposit through Venmo. Unbeknownst to me, my wife had disputed the charge because nobody was giving us any helpful status updates, and she didn't see a credit to our Visa after we had canceled. In the end, we owed them $350. A month later, Mark and Mike contacted us accusing us of wire fraud (for $350--comical!), and threatened legal action if we didn't drop the dispute. Realizing our mistake, I returned the $350 they had paid us through Venmo the next day so that everyone was whole again; but that wasn't good enough for these goons. I was still getting threatening emails. It's all settled now, but only because I was the only party in this matter with the calm and sensibility to propose the simplest and most obvious remedy. Dealing with AAS was a nightmare. I can't recommend them. * I fully expect Mark and/or Mike to reply with accusations that I'm being dishonest here. I chose American Auto Shipping based on reviews. Shawna was great setting everything up for me. That's where it ended. I was told someone would always respond with any issues. I was told it wouldn't be an issue picking up the car on a certain date. I was told the carrier would call ahead of time. None of this was true. The carrier came too early and then after many attempts at communication said the truck was in the shop and they could not deliver the car until later. I could not get Amercian Auto to respond to the issues after multiple calls and messages. If anyone else is currently having this issue go straight to their 24/7 online chat. Andrew, the support agent, was very helpful in pushing this forward and my daughter received her car the next day. The front plate was dented but there wasn't any paperwork to sign. Nothing. This was the worst experience ever. I usually ship cars; in the past I have used sites such as Uship or autotransportdirect.com without any problems until I tried americanautoshipping.com. I decided to try them because they always seem to offer prices that tend to be very low compare to other shipping dealers. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for... I scheduled my car to be picked up any time from April 20th, 2020. I got 3 quotes from American Auto Shipping: Pick up within 1-7 days for $860. Pick up within 1-3 days for $970; and pick up within 24hours for $1270. I chose the 1-3 days option for $970. My car never got picked up within 3 days. On day 5, a guy by the name of Andrew told me that if I want my car to be picked up faster, I had to add more money and upgrade to the $1270 option; if I accept, they will dispatch someone and my car will be picked up within 24 hours. Desperate, I agreed. I waited 3 more days (or 8 days total), nothing happened. Andrew started getting rude whenever I called. Finally a certain lady by the name of Kirshawna called to tell me that my car was going to be picked up the same day (day 8). She also sent me the name and details of the transport company that was going to pick up my car. I waited until almost the end of the day and my car was still not picked up; I called the transport company she gave me. The transport company said they don't know anything about my car. I called Andrew and he told me that the person who called me to tell me that my car was going to be picked up must have been a scam; the call was not from their company; I checked the number and it was 702 750-2300. I told him that the number belongs to them. After denying, he finally acknowledge and he passed me to Kirshawna. Kirshawna surprisingly told me that they were within their rights because they were still within 24 hours timeframe to pick up my car. I don't know how they count 24 hours in Las Vegas; it was day 8 of waiting and they were still within their 24 hours window. Finally, since they insisted being within their 24 hours timeframe, I agreed to wait another day. On day 9, they told me they are still looking for someone to pick up my car. I asked for refund; they told me they can't re-issue my refund to the credit card I used to pay. It has to be by cash (meaning I have to fly to Las Vegas) or send me a check in a mail. The driver was terrific, and we exchanged contact information to do business in the future. This review is in no way about the driver but the service I received from American Auto Shipping. The representative, Mike, is highly snarky and condescending. At first, he will act as if he cares about providing quality service, but as soon as you inquire about your service, he becomes insulting. To provide a better context of my dealing with AA shipping, let me start from the beginning and highlight why you shouldn't work with this company. I first booked with this company in March for a May pick-up. During my booking period, the rep, Mike, was charming. Naively, I took this as Mike being kind, but I soon realized this is his ploy to get you to book with AA. 1) AA is not a shipping company. They are brokers. Their job is to post your car on a board at the price they locked you in, and drivers on your route can either accept or decline your car. What AA will fail to tell you is that when they book you, they lock you into a price that is so low that no truck driver will want to pick up your car within their estimated window. Here is where the scamming comes in. They will provide you a window that your car will be picked up, and they will tell you that 90% of the cars are picked up in this window, and that's the first lie. There is no evidence that they meet this rate; in fact, what they will do is intentionally place your car on the board with a low price to convince you to pay them more on the back end. They will tell you if you pay XYZ amount, a driver will feel more willing to take your car! They are trying to hustle because if you pay the extra, you are provided with another pickup window with another "90%" window that they will most likely no make. If this happens, please ask for a refund once the window is up. When you do, they will tell you that they can't refund your original payment, but they will send it via cash app or Zelle! Sign #2 of horrible business practices. However, since they do not want to lose the down deposit/return the money to your bank (which will cause a flag against their company), they will magically find a driver to come pick your car up. Beware of this company of their slick practices and their representatives fast-talking. They are running a scam, and you do not need them to ship. I was not home to meet them to drop off the car so I asked for a refund and they refused. They have also refused to reschedule the transport. That, to me, constitutes stealing. I literally just got off the phone with a woman named Robin. My vehicle has yet to be picked up even though I paid for priority shipping. Robin could care less! Kept asking me what do I expect them to do? They don't have trucks... I expect a follow up with the customer when you can't keep up with your priority agreement. I expect someone to let me know that they at least pretend to care and that they are working on it. Why do I have to keep calling American Auto to find out whats going on? I said to her that I keep getting the same response every time I call, her response was, Well... Your gonna keep getting the same answer. In my case, the carrier's vehicle broke down in Tennessee just before the Juneteenth holiday weekend. Service wasn't available there, I was told, then a long waiting line for service, so I got my car five days later than expected. During the delay, the dispatcher at American kept me well informed. The communication was excellent. Vehicles break down--things happen, this is life. Because they let me know every day what the updated status was, I came away happy that I had chosen them.
