Anyway, one of our dogs barfed on a fancy faux fur blanket and the matching pillows needed to be dry cleaned too. Last time we took them to a different cleaners in Ballwin, it cost us $96 just for the blanket. At American Cleaners, with one of their awesome coupons, the blanket and pillows were $32. All. Together. On top of the seriously reasonable prices, the women that work there are so genuinely friendly and helpful that I was sort of looking forward to picking up my dry cleaning? June 7, 2025 To the Management of American Cleaners, I am writing to formally report the loss of twelve dress shirts that were left in your care for cleaning services. I am requesting your immediate attention to resolve this matter. Details of the Incident: On May 15, 2025, I purchased twelve dress shirts from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store located at 11015 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63141. Immediately after my purchase, I walked across the parking lot to your establishment to have these shirts professionally cleaned. At the time of drop-off, your staff added my twelve new shirts to my existing order of twenty-three shirts that were already being processed. I provided my tickets to your staff so they could be properly attached to my existing order for tracking purposes. These shirts were predominantly smaller sizes than I typically purchase, as they were quality brand shirts, and I was accommodating recent size changes. The Problem: On May 24, 2025, when I arrived to collect all my shirts, I immediately noticed that the twelve shirts I had purchased from the thrift store were missing from my order. When I brought this to the attention of your staff, they insisted that I had received all my shirts, which I know to be incorrect. To substantiate my claim, I provided your staff with the receipt from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store as proof of my purchase and ownership of the missing items. Since that date, I have called your establishment multiple times seeking updates on the location of my missing shirts. Unfortunately, I have received no meaningful communication or progress updates, and no apparent effort has been made to locate my property or resolve this matter. Resolution Requested: I understand that items can occasionally be misplaced in a busy operation, and I have been patient while waiting for a resolution. However, the lack of communication and apparent indifference to my situation is concerning and disappointing. I did have one person said that they would look specifically into the paper receipts for that day, but they never called me back. I am requesting that you: 1. Conduct a thorough and systematic search of your premises for my missing shirts 2. Review your internal tracking system and processes to locate where these shirts may have been misplaced 3. Provide me with regular updates on your investigation and a realistic timeline for resolution 4. If the shirts cannot be located, provide fair compensation for their replacement value I have been a customer of your establishment and have always treated your staff with respect. I expect the same level of courtesy and professionalism in return. Well, all I can say is take a picture of your belongings with the date & time stamp for alterations/repairs. Dropped off slacks for hemming on 7/17/25. My claim ticket had 7/29/25 the slacks would be ready for pick up. Went in on 7/29/25 & was told check back in a few days. Went in 7/31/25, still not back & told call in a few days. Called them in the morning on 8/2/25 & was told they'd call on Monday to see where they were. I intentionally waited until that Monday (8/4/25) & called at 5:30pm to see if they were ready. The lady said she was leaving at 6:00pm & I could call her Tuesday at 9:00am. I called Tuesday 8/5/25 at 9:45 & the same lady said if I wanted to talk to a manager he's only there until 8:30am. I shared with her I did not mention a manager just following up to see if she found anything out. She told me call back in 10 minutes. I called back in 15. She told me again call back in 10 minutes. I called back in 55 to give her more time. She told me "I've been on vacation lady. I got roped in the middle of you looking for your garment." I asked if the owner could call me. She said "no" & again went on about her getting roped in to looking for my clothing. I shared I just wanted to know if my garment was lost. At first she said, "we can't find it." then immediately said " no, but I don't know where it is." On 8/4/25 I sent a note via the website politely asking if a manager or owner could just call me. But, the owner & or manager didn't even give me the courtesy of a call to let me know my personal property was lost or they were still working on it. The positive in the story is I took pictures of drop off, my brand new silk slacks, the ticket, & recorded all calls where I was beyond polite while the worker was so ugly. The neighbors on NextDoor will jump on this story. Who knows, maybe this kind of advertising will have an impact. Delays occur, as do snags with things sometimes. But, to have such blatant disregard for the customers they need to have this type of business is a BIG RED FLAG! I have been going to this location for almost 10 years but never again after today. I did not appreciate being passed over by 3 clerks to help other customers, all whom I was in front of. The 1st clerk walked away from the counter didn't say I will be back to help you. She just went to the back and appeared to being doing something all the while she just continued to look at me like I was a freaky alien. The 2nd clerk came out looked at me and smiled as I attempted to hand him my claim tickets. He also went to another customer and asked that customer did he need help. The 3rd clerk just came out and didn't even look in my direction. He just came out and helped another customer . So the 1st clerk finally comes back as says have you been helped. Uh no I haven't... I was initially concerned about going to American Cleaners based off of the reviews but I saw that there weren't that many and figured that most people write reviews for dry cleaners when they did not meet expectations. That being said, I assume that the majority of customers really have no issues. So I went here after having a bad experience at Olive Cleaners where they totally messed up a stitching job on one of my suits, it was bad. Thankfully American Cleaners has been awesome. Firstly, they are so flexible in everything I ask from folding, to delivery time frame, to tailoring. Secondly, they always do what they say they are going to do. If I want my clothes tomorrow, I don't pay any extra and get my clothes completed tomorrow. Now usually, you are going to have to pay a lot for next day delivery, tailoring services, and even the cleaning BUT I religiously use the American Cleaner coupons from their website and I save a ton of money. Shirts are usually $1.99 for laundering (which is already an amazing deal) and I use a coupon to drop the price down to $1.79. In the long run, when I travel all the time, this really adds up. They are also very prompt in completing services when I arrive and are flexible when I forget to use coupons when dropping off the dry cleaning and instead update my bill when I provide coupons to them when I pick up the dry cleaning. Now there is a reason they keep prices low. Firstly, all cash or check no exceptions and secondly, there are no computer systems to log your order so you better keep your ticket. All in all, I am totally willing to pay cash and keep my ticket for all the savings and prompt, correct services that American Cleaners provides. read more

I have used American cleaners for over twenty years. Only once have they lost a garment and I've never had a problem with their cleaning ability. I print their coupons online and save a lot of money as compared to the regular price, I highly recommend you do this. They usually have them ready before i need them but occasionally I have asked for next day service and there is not an extra charge for it. read more

Time for the cleaning of down comforter and quilt. My regular cleaner has closed. I had coupons for American, so gave them a try. My pick-up day was Saturday, but I couldn't make that, so I picked them up yesterday. I wrote a check. I know they don't take plastic. My quilt and down comforter were so perfectly clean, well-presented/covered and preserved. I put them immediately on my bed to replace the lame other things I had on there for a a few days. What a beautiful night's sleep! With the coupon, I paid half what I paid at my cleaner who went out of business. Last time I went to him with these two same things, I paid more than $70. read more

American cleaners is cool. I like that they're open on Mondays and they stay open everyday till 8! very convenient! I think I pay 4 bucks for a pair of pants which is great compared to the cleaners down the street where I paid 6 bucks ugh! Customer service is fine too. I would recommend this cleaners if you live in the area. They have same day service, but of course there's an extra charge associated with that. Hey "nothing in life is free." PS. Do not go here. I dropped off my peacoat and when I picked it up I paid the amount they and it was in the exact same condition I had left it in. I made sure to let them know to take the lint off and they assured me they could get it done. Got the whole procedure done two times and it was in the same condition. They do not take credit cards or I would surely perform a chargeback. I requested a refund from customer service and they just gave me a run around. DO NOT GO HERE, worst cleaners in the city. Terrible place. Somehow they lost the button on my pants, and they wrecked 5 shirts of mine by leaving crease marks across the arms, up the front, on the collars, in the middle of the backs, and it looked like under the arms was never pressed. I returned a couple of garments explaining that I could not bring them all because I had to take them elsewhere to get fixed so that I can have them ready to wear. The manager Gary insisted I give all of my garments back to him to fix...YEAH RIGHT! When I told him that I did not trust him to fix them he only would refund my money for two garments. I dropped my dry cleaning off and was given a ticket for $6.71. However, when I picked it up I was told that the ticket was incorrect and the manager changed it to $7.50 without notifying me, saying that the intake employee made a mistake when I dropped it off. They would not release my clothes without me paying the higher price. This is not the way this should be done!!! read more

The worst cleaners in St. Louis. They lost my classique pants (which aren't cheap) and ripped my silk shirt. When I complained about the shirt, they said I needed to call the manufacturer and it wasn't their fault. When I complained about the pants being lost, they asked me to look again at my house... Lousy Lousy Lousy. My wife dropped off (among other things) a white shirt and a cashmere sport coat. The shirt came back with a mark on the pocket. When she took it back they acknowledged their error. When she picked it up the 2nd time there was a hole where the mark had been. They said it was the threads not their fault! The sport coat shrank. This coat was not new and had been cleaned before. they weren't responsible here either. The fault (they claim) was a poor lining. They need to acknowledge that they make mistakes and own up to it. read more

Went in to pick up an item today. Service was fine until I was denied using a coupon based on the excuse that I can't use a coupon after something has been rung up, even though the clerk saw my coupon as he was ringing it up. Also, he didn't even think to ask if I had a coupon. Clearly the employees were not trained correctly. I'm going to take my laundry to a cleaner that actually lets customers use the coupons they send them. read more

If ever there was a business that you should not patronize it is American Cleaners. I was a loyal customer that used them for at least 10 years. I stupidly ignored the sporadic mis-ironing and broken button, because the price was reasonable and they were convenient. A few weeks ago they ruined a sweater, returned it faded in different parts and all pilly. First I was told that I had to write a letter, because the owner doesn't accept phone calls or emails, only handwritten correspondene, then I was finally given the contact information for a customer service person at the Manchester location. This person does not know a thing about customer service. She basically called me a liar when I told her that they damaged it. They would not replace the sweater and instead made me bring it back twice so that they could "review" the damage and make a decision on it. The only thing they did was continue to clean it. They cleaned the sweater three times in total. I know nothing about dry cleaning or the process, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that continuing to dry clean a damaged sweater isn't going to fix it. The last time they cleaned it, she called and said, you're sweater has been cleaned and it's fixed now, and hung up on me. This company is the worst of the worst! Please, do not use them. read more

If I could rate 0 stars I would. So I'm with a tour traveling through St. Louis. It's normal practice in this situation to send clothes in a laundry sac with $20-$25 in an envelope inside that more than covers the costs of simple laundry service. There were about 5 or 6 of us in the group who sent our laundry out. Upon receiving my clothes back, found them all thrown together with everyone else's clothes(socks and underwear all mixed together). This is totally unacceptable. They also went through the painstaking process of unnecessarily putting tags on every single article of clothing. It is customary as part of this service to have everything folded and put back in the bag it came in. Not today. Nothing was folded and everything was mixed. Most of my shirts have brand new stains on them now. The kicker here is they had the audacity to charge us over $1,400.00 for this. Yes you read that correctly. ONE THOUSAND, FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS to launder 5 potato sac sized bags of clothes. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and certainly not your money on this place. What a rip off. read more

I have been a faithful customer of this location for over 20 years. NEVER had a problem with any article of clothing or any employee! I took a 2-piece knit outfit to be cleaned and picked it up the same day. I noticed when I hung it up on the door in my bedroom the sleeves looked rather short. I tried the outfit on and it was toooo little!!! I immediately took it back and had to honestly demand that the youngsters in the store call the manager on his cell phone. I spoke with Gary and he said they would send it to the corporate office which handles their claims. After receiving a call from "Denise" she stated that she would send the outfit to their "lab" who would then in turn analyze it to determine if any shrinkage had occurred. Of course, I had not heard from Denise and after 3 weeks, I called her and she said she was waiting on the lab. She finally called me on 4/20/17 and told me that the cleaners did nothing wrong and there is no evidence of any shrinkage. Yes, I am beyond upset and ever so disappointed in this cleaners and my outfit!!! They have so many young people working that have no clues about the proper handling of fabrics and clothes! I will never go to this cleaners again, nor any other American Cleaners! Now on to the BBB and the next contact to complain about their services and Ms. Denise!!! read more

Their customer service is terrible. I brought a shirt in to get a spot on the chest out. When I picked it up, the spot on the chest was still there and I also noticed black spots all over the shirt. They told me they would run it back through to see what they could get out. The spot came out but the black spots were still on it so they sent it to "customer service" where they "determined" it was no fault of theirs. I don't normally spend a lot on shirts but with this shirt I did. Needless to say, if you have anything of value, do not bring it here. They offered no solution and left me with a ruined shirt that I wore twice and had for a month. I had rather pay the extra month somewhere else to get my garments cleaned then to take the risk of them ruining it. I also brought a dress in at the same time as the shirt and you could tell they didn't run that through the first time either. read more
