We were enrolled in American Comfort Experts' annual maintenance subscription. When we noticed a persistent "dirty sock" smell in our home, we were told additional duct services were needed. This cost us an additional $870. However, during the duct cleaning service visit, the technician informed us that coil cleaning was not part of this additional service because it was supposed to be covered under our existing yearly maintenance plan. It became evident that the coil cleaning was never performed during any of the previous maintenance services. The duct cleaning technician called the technician who had previously performed our annual maintenance to visit our home and ask him about this. In front of my husband, the technician who performed our yearly maintenance acknowledged that the coils had never been cleaned during prior maintenance services because they were difficult for him to get to. You would think this would be mentioned to us instead of pretending to perform coil cleaning for several years. Because the coils weren't being cleaned, there was a dirty sock smell, which we thought would be resolved if the ducts were cleaned. Finding out that this smell would have been resolved if the coils were properly cleaned​ is frustrating because we would have never paid the $870 for the ducts to be cleaned if this were the case. We attempted to resolve this matter directly with the owner of American Comfort Experts, but they refused to give us any money back, despite not receiving services that we paid for (coil cleaning). Absolutely unfair and unprofessional. ****ADDENDUM: The company keeps replying to my reviews stating that they did clean the coils during the duct cleaning. This is a true statement. The yearly maintenance plan that I have paid for several years includes coil cleaning. I found out years later that the coils had NEVER been cleaned during the yearly maintenance... When we complained to the company that the coils had never been cleaned before, that is when they cleaned the coils. So we have been paying for a service for years that we were not receiving. They did not give us any money back and they continue to comment on reviews without addressing the actual complaint. read more

Awful service. Each time a tech came out they did something stupid like turn the backup drain pipe upwards so it couldn't drain and tripped the emergency shutoff. Or dolloped a bunch of mastic on an open crack by the blower - that they installed - could never dry because the cold ducting was so wet the condensation kept it went until it dripped so much it was not longer covering the whole. And that's just the service visits. All the new ducting they installed is black with mold after just a few years because it wasn't properly installed and the overall efficiency of the system is WORSE than it was with the original ducting that they replaced. Sales guy came back out and all he had to say was that they installed what was on the purchase order. Zero ethics. Zero reliability. Do not hire. read more

Based on Our neighbor's total satisfaction, they highly recommended ACE since they had their Two AC units installed by them w prompt follow-up maintenance service when requested. ACE promptly came out to our house to inspect our 3 ton 17 plus AC Unit which was running but way past it's ability to cool. On summer days when the outside temperatures were in the mid 90's, the upstairs temp thermostat set at 75 would not drop below 88-89 degrees UNTIL the evening and even then the condensing compressor ran constantly. I cut to the quick: Josh from ACE came out to our house promptly and on time for our scheduled appointment.... - tested the old 8 Seer rated for free .. Then discussed/explained in detail why the old unit could go out at any time because the compressor was running SUPER HOT unit (which had run its lifespan - which I already knew) and how a new 3 ton unit w either a SEER rating 14 or 16 could reduce our electric bill but most importantly would maintain the set thermostat temperature w/o running 24/7 Turnkey installation/ cost options included replacing the entire system (including the old 17 plus year gas furnace and evaporator coil in the attic W and w/o optional financing. I responded to ACE w detailed Q&A's to which the Owner Doug called me the day after I wrote the email and personally took the time to call me to review my questions and address any of my concerns - which he did as they say w/NO BULL! Completed satisfied, we hired ACE to install our new 16 SEER UNIT which unlike most other AC companies came w a TWO year labor Warranty Vs the usual ONE YR The cost was dead on to others estimates and had the same 10 year / 20 year warranty for various equipment failures In addition the unit came w a new programmable WIFI thermostat plus the 16 SEER came w a micro fiber filter system that is installed w the unit in the attic that can be replaced w ease once a year James (Lead 30 plus years installer) and his two assistants w professional courtesy arrived on the scheduled day - On time and proceeded to remove the entire old system and w great attention to detail install the new unit w/o delay. A few days later I called Doug - the owner- and asked if they could come back out to check the attic return air ceiling duct work baffles which I had installed many years ago. At no charge James showed up and adjusted two of the baffles that serve the Great Room upstairs to push more air flow to the upstairs 3 bedrooms. That did the trick!!! I could not be happier - so w/o hesitation I highly recommend you trust ACE to do whatever involves your heating and/or heating needs! What's that old saying.. Tyler and Johnny were the technicians and they fully explained the process and did a good job to set my expectation before work began. They started by laying down floor protection over any surface they would have to cover like the entry, stairs, hallway, etc, leading up the attic. These two professional young men were meticulous in their work and clearly having a solid work ethic, made sure to get everything correct the first time. I can't imagine having to be up in my attic for the periods of time they spent (it gets warm in Houston), but they did a solid job and I couldn't be more pleased with their work. After the A/C was installed, Josh came by to inspect every last detail of the install to make certain is was done right the first time. I've only used ACE one time prior to this, it was a 11 years ago and Doug came out to replace a capacitor on a Sunday in the summer on short notice. He didn't overcharge me either, just his normal service call fee. It was that experience that led me to call ACE when my downstairs system failed and my upstairs system was only limping along to get a quote on the replacement. I ended up getting multiple quotes. Doug was not lowest quote on a 2-story, whole home A/C and furnace replacement, plus added a duct to a very hot closet, but his bid was fair. I will continue to use ACE in the future. Already have them scheduled to clean the ducts and blow more insulation in my attic (after 15 years, I had some serious low spots). They didn't try to upsell me on either item, I asked them because I knew I needed it done and now that I see their work, I don't need to shop around. It's 103 degrees outside at the moment. It's HOT, and my AC decides to go out at about 3:00PM. In about 15 minutes my inside temp went from 75 to 83 degrees, and with a 4 month old, we needed help; fast. I called my previous contact in the AC business and had to leave a message. I checked Yelp and found ACE. The woman on the phone was nice and courteous, documented my problem, and told me that a technician would be at my home within an hour or so. 40 minutes later, our tech, Nick Shelly, arrived. Nick was professional, nice, and easy to talk to. He applied protection to his boots when walking through our home to be courteous, and upon inspecting the attic, placed a large rectangular pad down to catch any falling insulation. Outside, he clearly explained what he was doing and helped me understand the problem. Within the hour, Nick had our AC working again. He explained what I could do to help prolong the life of our AC, but wasn't pushy with adding on additional services. Nick was simply awesome. So in summary: 1) He arrived early and within half the time than expected. 2) The technician (Nick Shelly) was professional, courteous, and friendly. 3) Nick wasn't pushy with adding additional services, but did explain their benefits. Needed a new furnace installing. Applied for and was approved for credit, through ACE. After installation the finance company changed the terms of the finance and because I wouldn't accept their new terms, my loan was cancelled. The finance company claimed if I didn't pay immediately the owner would put a lien on my property. I called the owner, he was rude and abusive and he wouldn't do anything to help me with the finance. Diane the dispatcher was nice and was able to schedule a tech to arrive within one hour of my call. Dwayne the tech actually put on shoe covers before he entered my house. He was knowledgeable and didn't try to pressure sell me. He of could of charged more for a fan that didn't start at first but then showed me that it did work after he replaced the faulty capacitor. What a great service provider I have found. 10 mins to my door and working to resolve issue. Nick was friendly and respected my home with foot covers, blankets and cleaned up all work areas. I can tell by how my issue was resolved, it was done right and the root of the problem was corrected, not just temporarily fixed. These guys saved us! Our warranty sent a different company that told us it would take *days* to repair our AC and then tried to push a new indoor unit on us. We felt something wasn't right, so my husband called American Comfort Experts. The repair man came over and replaced the outdoor fan motor and capacitor same-day. Within 90 minutes, our AC was running beautifully again. In this Texas heat, you can beat service like that. Pricing was about what I expected; ACs aren't cheap, but at least these guys did the correct repair right away, instead of pushing for a whole new AC unit. My A/C unit went out on a Friday night about two weeks ago. Doug Smith, the owner, came out at 10:00 PM! and got the system running again. It was old and really needed to be replaced. I nursed it along for a while but finally decided to have it replaced. I called American Comfort Experts and they came out two days later and replaced the entire system. The guys who came out to do the install were on time (bonus!) and got right to work. They were very nice and pleasant and did a great job. They cleaned up after they were done and other than the nice new air conditioning unit you couldn't tell they had been there. We had some trouble with our air conditioning in mid June on the weekend. Called ACE at 8am on Sunday and they had someone arrive at 12pm. Nick was very patient and could answer all of my questions. We were constantly moving from the inside unit to the outdoor unit and every time he took his booties off when going outside and put them on when going in. Terrible company! Do not use these people, find another company unless you want your system screwed up. We called them to come out and repair our unit, the fan wasn't running and the system wasn't cooling but the condenser was clearly running. Well they sent Cory out to get us up and running but when he was done he never he never checked our inside temps or anything just got credit card information at the door and left. Paid $633 for this part......he supposedly replaced the fan motor because that was dead. We went outside to watch some fire works and heard what sounded like a train, it was our A/C unit. It was vibrating and whining so badly that we couldn't imagine that Cory did that. Next day was the 4th so we just waited, cancelled our payment and credit card cause he had all it the card information with him and we had a blank receipt. Got a call on 7/5 from Linda looking for payment for their service, credit card wasn't working as she stated. We filled her in on the issues we had to which she was completely surprised that Cory had possibly bent the fan and didn't fix the unit right. She sent Travis out to fix the problem, who never came inside to check anything just tore into the system outside and attached the fan motor properly. Told us the other guy put motor in the harness wrong or something to that effect and got our check $633 and left. A couple days later we woke to a loud humming sound inside the house, checked outside and sure enough the system sounded like a train again! Called again 3rd time spoke with Derek who knows nothing, said he would put us on the schedule for 12-2 that day. 1 comes husband calls to see what's going on, told the tech had to take a quick lunch and would be out soon. 2 passes and at 2:09 Derek calls to inform us no one would be coming out due to our fan being bent it would need to be replaced. They diagnosed this from the office.....fan blade couldn't be ordered till Monday so that is when someone would come out. So we sat and waited for absolutely nothing. Husband asked for manager to which there wasn't a manager in the office but Derek said he could have one call us. Minutes later service manager calls, apologizes said they dropped the ball new fan blade wouldn't come in till Monday but he would get someone out that day Saturday to get the system running more smoothly. Travis returned, same thing never checked inside tore into outside unit, rigged the system to run till Monday. Left no receipt nothing. Immediately we cancelled our check. Monday Doug the owner showed up with Cory to replace fan blade. Fan blade replaced free of charge, Doug explained Cory was new and shouldn't have been alone working at all. System should be good, no checks inside nothing left with apology the end. Receipt says fan blade replaced zero charge. Days later Linda calls to check system. Then after that Doug calls to inform us they did more research on our system and found that they put the wrong size motor in, something about a shaft being too long and the fan blade not being in the right position. So that he wanted to come out and replace it. When I spoke to him he stated that he knew the motor was too small that it was all Cory had on his truck that first day so that is what he put on to just get the system cooling, that's what they do get it cooling no matter what! He says they will come out next day to fix it, next day Doug called found out check was cancelled. Said he wouldn't do business like this so we could keep our little motor! He was the good guy cause he called to tell us they screwed up but thought we should still pay for his awesome service! Hahahahahaha! Do not use them, they do not know anything about a/c systems. Except how to screw them up! My older brother has been in the A/C business but lives in another area of Texas he said these people have screwed up since day one that not one of them knows what they are doing. Love this company and the owner Doug he seriously saved me from being ripped off by mr Rogers air conditioning company they tried to charge me 4000 for a new air conditioner saying my compressor is out and they and disabled my unit so we could not use it. we suffered for a week and spent 175 on hotel room that we never needed to do the problem was a low voltage wire needed to be replaced simple fix and 39.99 was all it cost and a/c is up and running all because of ACE he is honest and not money hungry and cares about your family this is my go to A/C company from Now on. My A/C had gone out during the night time. I called these folks up at 8am the next morning to schedule someone to come out. I was told I would have a guy at my home between 12pm and to 2pm also gave me a timeline and what to expect, that the techs have most of what they need on the truck already as far as repairs/parts. Around 11:45 I got a call telling me Dennis was on the way to my home! He gets to my home and goes straight to work, and he had my A/C up and running not long after! He also relayed serial numbers, part numbers ect. Because they even checked to see if the unit still had warranty which it did which saved me a ton of money! My experience was outstanding! My first visit from ACE was in the Fall of 2010. I was facing my first winter in Houston/Katy, and wanted to have the heating system checked out. I have been a Comfort Club member ever since. They come out each Fall to check the heating system and each Spring to check out the A/C. It's an incredible value, and I've referred ACE to many of my colleagues, neighbors, and friends. David Smith with American Comfort Experts came out to repair the air conditioning yesterday, and I really could not be any happier with the service this company provided. My appointment window was for later in the afternoon, but David was running a bit early, and sweet Kristie from the main office called to make sure it was convenient for me if David arrived early. I was at the pharmacy picking up a prescription, and David got to the house before I did; but that was no problem for him. He waited for me, and gave me a big smile when I drove up. David quickly assessed the problem, showed me what I needed to see, and explained everything fully and carefully, including precisely stating what the charges would be. He answered every question, and never made me feel rushed or pushed. After that, David quickly repaired the unit, and, again, patiently waited to make sure the unit was cooling properly. In the end, the cost was exactly what I expected. David also offered a maintenance contract, which is a great deal, and he explained all the particulars; but there was no hard sell. So I got a wild hair and decided to change the thermostat on our home. Well I didn't shut the power switch to my furnace and after two hours of trying to change the thermostat to the new one and then back to the old one we determined that I broke something. So after my hubby being pissed and of course it was after hours I called one repair person he told me he could not get to me until two days later, JMoore would come late next day and then I stumbled on American Comfort Experts, I filled out the form online and within an hour I had a call back from Doug. They did not charge an after hours fee and David Smith showed up about thirty minutes later and it was 10:30 pm that night and he stayed until he fixed the blown fuse in the furnace and he was kind enough to change the thermostat the right way for us. The pricing was AWESOME as they have a fixed flat rate and I was more the happy with writing the check. So thanks to ACE, not only did I not have to sleep on the couch w/ no heat that night he saved me from several hours of listening to my hubby complain that I should have listened to him in the first place and turned the power off. I called this incompetant company onSept 29,2013. they were to come out and look at my ac. They were supposed to be there between 11am and 2pm. At 2;30 I called checking to see where they were. The answered and said theyt were running late. That would have been fine but to get no call are update as my wife twiddled her thumbs waiting. They show up and dont even check both of my units which I asked to be done. I called there office and asked why this was not done and they said they would call the tech to come back and would call me right back.. They never did. Again the incompetance level of this want to be company. I had to go out of town while all this was going down. They billed my wife 69$ for doing half of what they were supposed to do. I had to call another company which did exactly what they were supposed to do. I dont mind paying more but damn if you say your gonna do something, do it!!! We bought a large, older home about a year ago and knew upfront that all or almost all of the HVAC would have to be replaced (the house has 4 AC units and furnaces). We spent several months talking to various HVAC companies getting bids, and we felt overwhelmed by the process. Our experiences ranged all the way from getting detailed bids that we did not understand at all to receiving bids that were just a number (the cost of an AC unit). We didn't know how to make an informed decision until we met the folks at ACE. We received a very competitive bid (it helped that we were replacing our AC system in February), the owner came over early one Saturday morning and took several hours to explain everything to us, and by the time he was done, we knew for certain that the folks at ACE are the people we wanted doing our HVAC work. Before talking to the owner of ACE, my husband was hell-bent on getting Tranes, but he changed his mind after hearing a detailed comparison between Tranes and other brands. Everything about their operation says professional. They are a relatively small company that we believe first and foremost wants to get it right. Our very first appt was w/David, the serviceman, who showed up in an ironed white shirt w/the ACE logo, and who presented us w/2 business cards, one w/his name on it in big print, and the other a general ACE business card before setting foot inside the house. Booties on his feet whenever he was inside. Floors were covered. Thorough inspection of all the systems. David recommended we meet w/the owner to get the best price on the work we wanted down. Owner Doug met w/us on a Saturday, and took as much time as we needed to understand our options and feel that we knew enough to make a good decision. Scheduling w/Christie in the office was wonderful. She's great! Everybody including the installers were on time, neat, quiet - again, professional. Follow-up by owner and others. Came back to finish the duct insulation. Also, their working around our schedule has been a challenge as some of our family members work night shift and sleep days. ACE worked w/us to do the work in that part of the house around their sleeping schedule, which was a HUGE challenge! I could go on and on . . . 3/26/2013 Update: The city inspector just left after inspector the HVAC work that ACE did for us. Said all the work looked really good. Not surprised. The work took almost a week to complete at our place (6200 sq ft), and we could not be happier with our experience w/ACE. We ended up replacing 3 complete AC systems and 4 furnaces. ACE also wrapped all the vents to prevent air loss and tweaked a few things that were pre-existing. Again I say: these guys are pros! We are very confident that what they have done has been done to the highest standards and we are customers for life. In the past we have paid A LOT OF MONEY to a lot of different HVAC companies. We are no longer in search of a good HVAC company now that we've found ACE. Quit wasting your time and money and use them. They are wonderful!!!! read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. I called at the end of most people's business day because my A/C stopped running. All day long I heard the motor in the attic making strange noises and it finally stopped coming on. Earlier I tried to fix it myself by replacing the capacitor but it only worked for about 30 minutes after that. I did not have hope that I'd get it repaired that day but after a quick online search I found ACE and it stated they worked 24/7. I still had my doubts that I'd be able to reach anyone but I called anyway. I was presently surprised that my call was answered by a real person and they promised to get someone out a.s.a.p., probably within an hour they said. I started getting concerned when I didn't hear from anyone and it was already and hour and bang! the door bell rang! Tracey the tech was at my door and apparently got a bad number on my phone number but he came anyway to our address. He immediately got to work and replaced the motor...outside in the dark and while being tortured by mosquitos. He never complained. The price was very reasonable considering it was emergency after hours work and most companies would have raked me over the coals with a call like that. I started using American Comfort Experts in 2013 and they have exceeded my exceptions each and every time I have called on their service. They have a very professional team and are a reliable company I know I can count on. I am a member of their Silver Service Package and the biannual routine checks on my AC & Heater assure my families comfort year around. The techs are professional, detailed and always explain exactly what they are doing. I recently had ACE install an Oxy Quantum LED UV Light system and a HEPA Filter system in both my units to help reduce allergens in my house. Their installation was precise and their price was very competitive. Through my past experience with ACE it also helped knowing that that the job would get done right & in a timely manner. they have great customer service and do a very good job with repairs and service, but I spent 12 k with them to replace a 10 yr old system and the new unit has had issues cooling the house since it was installed. its been an on going battle getting the issues resolved, they always come out and look at the unit when I call them about it, but they continue to tell me its not the unit its just very hot out side and the temp differential is to much to handle. When working my old unit did a better job cooling the house. The last service call was a month out of the 1 year install date and they were coming out for the same issue we delt with last summer after the install and they charged me $180.00 to change a filter and re calibrate the thermostats stating they were off and that's why they read 78 degrees and they are set at 74 ....well the house is still hot and when I checked the room temperature with a digital thermometer against the thermostat temp - after the re- calibration they are off. The re-calibrated thermostat reads 72 degrees room temp and the actual room temp is 76 degrees. good company for service and repairs , but be aware when spending 12 k for a new unit. read more

I was looking for someone to fix my A/C fast but not come in pushing a bunch of stuff i didn't need. The first company i called never showed and when I called them back I got a voicemail full message. Called ACE and their tech Ryan was promp and extremely patient with me watching everything he did. He explained how things worked as he went and was knowledgeable and quick to answer any questions. Turns out my problem wasn't even related to my inside or outside unit but my disconnect breaker box instead. Mine was half melted on the inside. He had everything with him to replace that and was done and left my house cooling in about less than two hours. Nice to not have someone coming in telling me how old the unit is and it needs to be replaced. He also gave me tips for extending the life of the system. Best thing is that the price was great for the repair and Ryan made sure I knew the price before doing the work. I will call them first from now on and anyone within their sevice area should do the same. read more
