I enjoyed Doggos Gus back when it was a pop-up business located inside a University Heights neighborhood bar. I even remember when it was a participating vendor at a now defunct local food festival. Their current location is a corner shack in the East Village section of downtown next to The Church by The Lost Abbey. Everything in this area involved curbside metered parking or a paid surface lot. The shack was part of a large courtyard with multiple picnic tables for seating. Cornhole boards and a flat screen TV were set up for entertainment. You order using a tablet next to the service window. The menu used to be strictly bacon-wrapped hot dogs (i.e. Sonoran style). It has now expanded to include burgers, sides, appetizers, and desserts. A fountain station had dispensers for sodas, lemonade, and agua frescas. The hot dogs were divided into two sections, Classic and Signature. I selected two of the classics for my takeout order. The first was a Baja (grilled onions, pico, chipotle, avocado crema) and the second was a TJ Style (grilled onions, tomatoes, mayo, mustard, ketchup). The sweet bun used to hold everything resembled that used for a lobster roll. The flavor combinations were hearty and not spicy which was what I preferred. The grilled onions added some char and texture to the jumbo beef hot dogs. What has changed significantly over time were the prices. Each of my choices cost $8.99. Some of the other varieties were as high as $12 which is insane for a loaded hot dog. I did appreciate the bacon wrapping to the franks, but I can't see myself coming to East Village that often for these products because there are plenty of diverse dining options that are more satisfying in this part of downtown.

Came here for our first time cause we live down the street and this place has great reviews. It's a cute little place to sit outside on a sunny day. You order by yourself on the little pad outside which is great. After we ordered our food was ready almost right away. We ordered the chilli cheese dog and Sonoran dog. I don't know what I was expecting but I thought the hot dog I was going to get would be better quality hot dogs. It literally tasted like the hot dogs you just go buy at the grocery store. Nothing special and they're actually small if you don't get the jumbo dog. There's a lot of ingredients on your hot dog so your bread gets soggy fast. I think if you're craving a hot dog it's a good place to come. Maybe we'll try something with less ingredients and jumbo hot dog for a better experience next time.

The food is yummy! All the seating is outdoor which is pretty nice considering we're in SD. You don't really interact much with the staff since you order on a tablet. If you don't live in downtown the parking will prob be a bit rough.

This place did NOT disappoint. Doggos Gus serves some seriously good hot dogs. The hot dogs were loaded, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the fries were hot, crispy, and addictive. Portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. It's the kind of food that hits the spot whether you're super hungry or just craving something good. Will 100% be back!

Needed to grab some food before going next door for some more beer. A hotdog restaurant, yes and a very good one at that. I opted for a bowl of street corn, esquites. Boy was it good! Crunchy fresh corn covered with cheesy, spicy deliciousness and add a squeeze of lime!!!! Hit the spot. Outdoor seating in a cozy park with picnic tables.

When is the last time you had a chili cheese dog? Hmmm.... High school? That's a long time ago!! Found ourselves in the neighborhood and decided to stop in for a "little snack" the hot dogs are large enough to be cut in half if you're looking for a snack. However, who are we kidding you should get the whole hot dog. The chili cheese dog was delicious, the chili cheese was very flavorful and made to perfection. Also, ordered the street corn, it was ok. I would definitely skip next time. The service is quick and efficient. You order online and they call your name for pickup at the window. The ambiance on a Sunday afternoon was surprisingly quiet a few tables were taken one with a larger group who was strictly there to eat and another group of four, drinking an soaking board games. As we were leaving a couple small families walked in with young kiddos. The brewery does a nice job of keeping some activities available to keep them entertained. Great experience. Great Hot Dogs! Bonus: located on Lost Abbye's brewery backyard.

Quick service, delicious eats and so nice it's all outdoor seating. The sd foodie dog hit the spot, it was the right amount of sweet and savory which I never knew was possible for a hot dog. Street corn was also good but didn't look like the photo they advertise on their window, it was in a much smaller container.

Perfect spot for sitting outside enjoying our perfect weather. Grab a beer from the brewery then head outside and order up. The Baja dog is my favorite, but have tried and enjoyed quite a few others. Don't forget the churros. Not only are the dogs the best in town, the churros are as well.

Solid place if you're itching for the Mexican style hot dogs. Came here on a whim since we were craving it, the outdoor seating and vibes are nice. Olive trees are a nice touch! Also next to a brewery so good place to chill around and watch a game!

Yes yes yes. The food here is a fair-ish price and the service was quick! You order on a tablet, so try to read the menu prior to avoid delay. It's an outdoor space, so be aware if you go in the winter. My meal was a 10/10! Want to try the fries next. Also street parking only.

Wagyu burger - just ok. Michelada was good.
    Yvonne A.

Wagyu burger was quite bland. Hot dog, however, was tasty and the bun was buttery and soft. Michelada was very good and generous on the mix. Choose your beer at the brewery next door. Cute patio and nice place for a casual lunch.

We happened to come here looking for a snack. We thought we ended up at the wrong place since we didn't see Doggos right away, but what appeared to be a small church which ended up being the Lost Abbey! Doggos is located to the side and back of the outdoor seating area. It was early when we stopped by and no one was around. Simple menu, we ordered the Jumbo California doggo and Doggos fries to share which was more than enough for a snack! The California doggo was delicious! The Doggos fries were fully loaded with cheese, crema, bacon and hot dog bits! I really wanted a milkshake, but it was off the menu for now since they didn't have extra staff to cook and make milkshakes which was a bummer. Staff was friendly. The outdoor seating seemed chill, with picnic style seating. It was a little cold so we took our order Togo. Overall it was better than I was expecting! Thanks for a delicious Doggo!

Nice outdoor seating in downtown San Diego with a fancy hotdog in one hand and a cold beer in the other, can't get better than that! (+) Service was great and owner was very friendly. Positive vibes all around. Fast casual style: order via QR code or counter at the front. (+) Both the Lost Abbey and Carnitas dog were surprisingly tasty (coming from someone who never gets hotdogs on their own). The smashburger was crisp and had the perfect amount of sauce. Both buns were SUPER soft. Dog friendly area and great vibes. Would definitely come back for a quick bite.

The most prominent detail I really liked about this location was the ocean view. We made a reservation for outdoor seating, and had an amazing view of the ocean and sunset. Parking was a little difficult. There's only one row for free self parking, but it is very limited. They offer $10 valet which I had to do because I could not find any parking. Because this restaurant is a more high-end / upscale restaurant, I would recommend this location more for a special occasion or date night rather than a casual place to eat.
