I want to start off by screaming, "What a wonderful spot in Downtown Tustin!" Went here with the wife and took advantage of the % off Yelp Check-in. Upon entering the restaurant you're warmly greeted and notified that this is a fast-casual style of eatery. You take your order at the front and then take a seat wherever. It has a nice vibe on the inside, very cozy, semi-industrial, with a contemporary country feel. The service was impeccable and the foot outstanding. The menu is short and simple, but boy or boy do they do it right. The wife and I had burgers, onions rings, and wings. Guilty Burger A monster burger that is perfectly stacked with swiss, cheddar and pepperjack cheese, fried egg, bacon and chipotle mayo. The egg was sunny side up but not too runny which made it perfect for a burger. This is the type of burger you have to eat leaning forward. AG Burger A well balanced burger with smoked cheddar and housemade peppered bacon. Onion Rings Well plated and perfect fried topped with a sprinkle of what appeared to be Parmesan cheese. Highly recommended! Chicken Wings We opted for the Lemon-Pepper wings which were well seasoned and fried crispy without any breading. Decent, but nothing to write home about. Overall, this is a great little burger joint albeit a bit on the pricier side. In comparison to another burger joint in Tustin, American Grub is definitely a better place to eat. Though, I wish their burger patties had a bit more "beefy flavor" compared to that other place. This probably comes down to their selection of cuts and grinds for their patties. One of the best places for all American comfort food! My Favorite is the grilled cheese pulled pork sandwich with a side of cajon fries and fried green beans. My entire dish is always on point and worth every penny! The atmosphere in this friendly bistro is warm, and lively #cozychic. We really enjoyed the selections on the menu and the AG Shrimp Salad was divine! I ordered a burger and I assumed it would come with fries. When it is served to me, it didn't come to fries, the server said the fries is separate. No where on the menu mentioned that or cashier mentioned it while ordering. As for food, the burger was great, one of better burgers. The fries were fried just right, very good amount of crispy and no raw tastes. I would place this place well above Red Robin's. It's so good that I could not finish my fries. That might be why they didn't include the fries as part of the meal? But still, the fries should be included regardless. As for prices, they charge a shiny quarter! I paid $25 for burger, fries and large craft beer. But if you are looking for great burger, this is the place to check out. But if you are trying to save some money, then this place is not for you and you can settle with average burger at In-n-Out in Tustin Marketplace. read more

Worst treatment I've ever experienced. Three of us from a local company, who eat here all the time, walked in with a client, and there was nobody at the front so we walked in the front door. A young man with short hair told us we were supposed to check in outfront, and we explain nobody was there, and if it was OK if we sat down, which he said yes, in a bit of a snippy attitude. We shrugged it off and sat down and started looking at menus until some rude lady with her hat on backwards came over, and started to scold us that we were supposed to wait to be seated. When we started to explain that there was nobody upfront, she got even more nasty and told us she was educating us about how things worked there. So, we kindly handed her our menus And went down the street. We are blocked away from this place and have a couple hundred employees and I can tell you that it'll be a cold day in hell before any of them attend this please. I'm sorry for the ownership but if you get people that nasty representing your place, it's going to hurt your business. No wonder, there was nobody in the restaurant and when we went down the street the restaurant was full that we chose instead. Too many better options to put up with bad treatment. read more

Really cute place in Old Town Tustin. The burgers are great, but the garlic tots and the black pepper fries with garlic have been the real winners in my book. Delicious and addicting! I dare you to just try a few and not eat the whole thing. We also tried the lemon pepper wings and thought they were just ok. As for the burgers, so far I've tried the breakfast burger and the bacon cheeseburger. Both were good, but really, really need some sort of sauce or aioli to add some additional flavor and make the burgers seem less dry. Update - appreciate the thoughts from the owner - looks like we should not have been charged for all the dressings since one of our orders were onion rings. It is the appearance/perception of looking cheap by charging extra for those items and not even mentioning it prior to doing so. It is the nickel and dime thing. Trying to help you out here because our perception when we left was $120 for 4 adults and two kids and we had to paid for condiments. From a marketing word of mouth perspective, you want to avoid that as much as possible. Food is good and location is great in downtown Tustin. The one thing that irked us on the visit was that we ordered a large basket of fries and onion rings to share. We asked for a couple of ranch dressings for the baskets. Server brings these two little plastic cups of ranch dressing and when the bill comes we are charged for the rand dressing. How cheap is that. Our bill was $120 for 6 people and they charged us for little plastic cups of ranch dressing. Didn't even mention that it was extra. We deducted the dressings from our tip. American Grub has good fresh food! We have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. I ate first ate here when they had just opened since then some things have changed. It went from an order at the counter to now sit down. Where you once were able to refill your own drinks, you now have to wait for the staff to notice that your cup is empty. The place is still set up for this but it's not allowed. This can be frustrating when you're drink has been empty for awhile and it's just as easy for you to refill it. So disappointed! 3 of us getting sandwiches (one just a turkey, 1 BLT, 1 pulled pork), 1 side of Mac cheese, which the counter server warned us was 'bland',& garlic fries- $52!!! The spread was because he items came out 1 by 1- with enough time in between EACH of us was done before another item came out. We complained- and the server put cookies on the table- but they were ice cold...kept in the cooler I guess. The garlic fries were the only bright spot.
