What is there not to love about a big American breakfast. A weekend staple i would say. American Host provides just that with an ensemble of American breakfast dishes we are all too fond of. Ordering their dishes to go does not take away from the goodness either. One of the best restaurants in Lompoc for sure. read more

Open daily until 2:00, serving good, traditional breakfast and lunch. Their breakfasts can't be beat. The best in town. Lunches are good as well. Their biscuits and gravy, waffles, and homemade soups are all my favs. The servers are all friendly and efficient. The best "diner" in Lompoc. read more

American Host exemplifies all that is a quaint, rustic, mom and pop style restaurant. The decor is farmhouse and vintage. It's a little nostalgic. The dining area is small and feels a bit crowded but being sat was quick, and the service was good. The food is phenomenal. I had the French Toast, Eggs, Bacon and Biscuits & Gravy. Everything came out steaming, but not too hot to eat. I really enjoyed the way they scramble the eggs and the portions were perfect. I was under the impression that the coffee was complimentary as the cups were already on the table when we were sat. I was not warned it was at cost, and was slightly disappointed to find the extremely low grade coffee was priced at nearly three dollars. But aside from that, and the lack of space I really enjoyed my visit. read more

This is not a place for someone watching their waistline, this is true farm style breakfast food. Food is very good, I truly would recommend sharing a plate unless you are looking to take food home with you. read more

Great old school cafe, I have only visited for breakfast but many friends love their lunch menu as well. Hash browns are awesome. Veggie omelet is huge you will not be hungry after breakfast. I found American Host because of Yelp! I was looking for a good breakfast spot to eat at in Lompoc. Wow! What a great find!! My companion and I came here early on Sunday morning around 9-10 am. It was worried there would be an hour or so wait, but we were lucky enough that the restaurant wasn't too packed. After we finished eating however, there was a few people waiting for tables! Anyway, when you get to your table, there are already coffee cups there for everyone in case you want coffee. If you do, you turn your coffee cup over. We were waited on fairly quick, I ordered the French Toast with sausage and eggs. We also got the Banana waffle special of the day which came with Bananas, caramel, walnuts, and whipped cream $8ish. Both dishes came out fast, both dishes were excellent. The sausage was well made and they were thick and juicy. The eggs came out well, and I liked that the French toast was made with cinnamon raisin bread. You have the choice of either having it with cinnamon raisin and some other type of bread but I forgot what it was... but getting it with raisins was good to chop on while you dipped it in butter and syrup. Now the banana waffle, it was amazingly good, so good I wish I had ordered it myself so it could be all mine. The walnuts added the perfect amount of crunch to the banana and waffle combination and the caramel and whipped cream made it perfect. What a great dish if only I could have it again. I would have ordered it myself, if I didn't always want eggs and meat with my breakfast. Luckily I didn't have to order it, but I could take bites out of it. Several BIG bites, in exchange for bites off of my meal. A great trade-off. read more

American host is the best cafe around and surely a Lompoc staple. I have been coming here since I was a little kid. Iv lived and traveled to many different places but this American cafe stays my favorite. The food is consistently delicious, the place is clean and welcoming and it has been that way for many years. 1/13/2019 Sunday 9:30 am, the wait was about 10 minutes even though quoted 20 minutes, which was good . This place seems popular as people were waiting outside even in the cold weather. The restaurant was packed. We were greeted by a friendly host , after only waiting 10 minutes, we were seated in a nice booth tucked away in the corner which I like. Drinks and food were brought out quickly, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. French toasts were really good , crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. We were traveling to Santa Barbara from Santa Clara and stopped at Lompoc for the night and decided to try this place for breakfast. And what a great experience this has been! This is an authentic American restaurant with two separate sections - old and a new addition. I am guessing this is an old restaurant that was initially on the right side of the entrance and later got expanded into the newer space on the left. We were a party of two and reached the restaurant around 8:45 am and the parking lot was already quite full and we had to wait a while after putting our names at the reception. Most of the other customers looked regulars at this place and seemed local with us being the only tourists passing through the town. We got our table after 10-15 minutes. The place was quite jam-packed but we had our own sweet niche and loved the table that we were assigned. We ordered a light breakfast with omlette and ham and a 2-egg omlette with ham, cheese and mushroom with hash browns. The food arrived within 15 minutes and the plates were delicious. We loved the small American flags on the food (see pics). The portion sizes were perfect for us and quite in line with the prices being charged. We really had a great start to the day with breakfast at this place and I highly recommend to try out this place. read more

This place is excellent. Only been here twice, new in town, and it is the go to for breakfast and lunch. The CFS , garbage pail omelette and Belgium waffle are all top notch. Had the pastrami sandwich today and it's pretty much the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had. That BLAT my daughter had was also delicious. Plenty of bacon and avocado. We'll be back. read more

This is really one of the best breakfast spots on the central coast. Two suggestions: 1. If you are headed here on the weekend, DEFINITELY expect a wait. Either that, or make sure to arrive extra early (this especially applies to Sunday before church services are out) 2. Add a waffle to your order and thank me later read more

Absolutely fell in love with this place. It is a must every time I come to visit my sister. Everything we have eaten here and shared along with the family has been really good! But my go to is the chicken fried steak with the yummy southern style white gravy. My niece gets the ham steak every time and it has a nice cut on it too, not a thinly sliced one like other places usually have. When it comes to the waffles we've tried lots of varieties, ALL have been awesome, but my favorite is whatever fresh fruit of the season they are offering at the time. Everybody there has been super friendly, its outside seating due to COVID but its nice and spaced out and good for a family because our island family is never less than 8 people ;) Mahalo for the great food and friendly service! More often than not they're undercooked, leaving the potatoes hard in the middle. On the rare occasion I mention it, the replacement usually comes back overcooked instead. It's frustrating because all I'm hoping for is the perfectly cooked home fries they used to be known for. I can't quite put my finger on everything that's changed, but the overall quality just doesn't feel as consistent as it once was. The food is still pretty good, and that's why I continue to support them, but I definitely find myself coming less often than I used to. This place used to knock it out of the park almost every visit. I genuinely hope they can get back to that level because I'd love to see one of my longtime favorite breakfast spots thrive again.

We both decided the first item on the menu we would try; Orcut Hash, did sourdough toast and homemade biscuit We had just a couple minutes to sit and order iced tea to go. Before the server could get us our iced teas our food was ready. It's super cute inside...can't wait to come back and enjoy the sit down restaurant. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Large alcoholic choice of drinks... really wanted that spicy Mary but since we were in a rush stuck with iced tea. The only 1 minute drive back to the gun range in Santa Maria was grueling smelling that gravy... We were both were thrilled at the large portions. It was amazing! I love gravy and could have used a little bit more but honestly I think it was fine for a normal person plus remember we go to go order so I suspect it soaked up a little on the drive. The staff threw in pepper and Tapatio which the hubs loves. I had Yellow Bird Blue Agave Sriracha in my travel trailer and used a little on it. OMG! It was so good! The potatoes had a nice crunch on them. That gravy was amazing. The biscuit was great, had a bite and saved the rest for later. The hubs managed to eat his whole plate and was stuffed! I might have eaten 1/4 of mine saving it for later. We will for sure be back!

Whenever I come home I always have to stop by the American Host. I'm always loved the Biscuits and Gravy and today I tried the Figueroa. It was amazing. Yes this is my brother's restaurant, however, even if it wasn't, there is no comparison to other restaurants. It's a must stop every trip home. I travel the country as a journalist and I have never found anyone who has a better biscuits and gravy. The same goes for the home fries. No other restaurant can get the taste and crispness of the American Host home fries. My other favorite is the Thursday meatloaf special. read more

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the Lompoc Valley. Went to school with the owners kids, great family run business! If you want a good filling meal try the Host Breakfast of the Gaviota.
