Overall, new ownership has organized and made the business more 2020. Customer service was great as well the communication. Pricing was favorable when comparing online prices and even extended a great rebate. While they were quick and professional, a few comments. - Don't use factory tire pressure when filling tires of a special order where the factory calls for 40psi and the tires call for 80psi. If no one is the wiser, tires will expire quickly. - Asked for TPMS to be reset, confirmed twice on phone they completed. When I returned home to add another 35psi to my tires, the dash display indicated tires not being reset to the TPMS screen. This means the actual driver side tire is on the passenger rear, etc. - Explain any warranty with new tires and if rotation is included when purchasing all new tires. Nonetheless, I will return as I've used the former owners for many years and all of my vehicles. The shop is presentable and people aren't grouchy. read more

I was on my vacation with my family in Monterey area and while in the parking lot I noticed my front tire was a little flat. I panicked because it was on Friday June 12 near closing time for many businesses. I googled the area and found American Tire Depot near me so I called them and then went there. I spoke with someone (sorry forgot his name) then he told me he can squeeze me in (closing time). After he fixed my tire then I asked how much, he told me it was on the house. Wow! What a surprise! I've used Monterey Tire multiple times for alignments on different cars. Always very friendly and efficient.

They did a wheel alignment on my car. The guy at the reception desk was marginally friendly but the worse was that they did not even give me a report of the alignment. I had to ask for it and they had to go print it from their alignment machine. They will, however, gladly take your credit card. Not a place I would recommend for these reasons. read more

Waking up on a Saturday morning and learning your car has a flat tire isn't the way you want to start the weekend. A quick phone call to Monterey Tire Service soon allayed my fears. "Yes we're open" yes we'd be happy to service your car - we do close at 12:00 on Saturday " So think about this - happy to hear from me even though I'm getting a very inexpensive service: you'd think I wanted 4 new Michelin tires... so I drive, they are busy-- in 30 seconds my car has a Jack under it and we are in motion. Bill on the former and Carlos (A1 guy) getting the wheel off. About 10 minutes later Carlos comes over and says "no leak"-- to which I reply "it's down 10lb according to the dash instruments " They look again, add more air to 70 lbs and find a previous patch ( yes a bad luck tire..) is causing the problem. I ask them if I'll have to buy a new tire? Carlos says, "no." Just a patch". I don't know zip about evaluating the inside of a tire so they could easily told me I did need a new tire. These guys a super honest and no nonsense. Simply expert service. So when I need my new set replacement where do you think I'll go? PS-.the total bill was $26. No, I'm not kidding. SO glad to see that American Tire Depot has arrived in Monterey! They are my go-to tire service center, everywhere I travel. There's one in every major city, generally, and are now owned by Big Brand Tire as well, where you will get the same great service. I love them for allowing me to bring in the oil of my choice and only being charged for their labor. They repair flat tires free, wherever you bought them. I paid $25 in Santa Cruz at some local shop there when I experienced a flat a couple years ago. Now I would drive the distance to see these guys, making an easy appointment online. Yes, American Tire Depots are amazing. Don't forget they do tire alignments too, and always offer free alignment checks. My favorite is their computers remember everything you've ever come in for, so don't sweat ever having to find your paperwork, across all the shops including Big Brand. I recently bought a new set of tires and they were able to give me the $272 prorated discount with proof that I had my tires rotated regularly. Good going, guys! read more

Probably good for basic tire stuff...think Costco. They were unable/unwilling to diagnose a problem I was having while driving 65mph. It doesn't make sense to pay them to provide a service if it's not addressing the problem. (I would have paid for someone to diagnose the issue but they indicated they had plenty of work and didn't need to offer that service.) read more
