I have had an exceptional customer service experience with the Londonderry customer team of Amerigas. When my payment was incorrectly posted at corporate. I was charged a mandatory $140 leak inspection fee when ordering propane. The technician arrived, spent approximately five minutes on-site, connected the hose, and left. When I contacted customer service to understand what the fee covered, I was told the "inspection" consists solely of a visual check - if no obvious leak is detected, no further action is taken. There is no way to opt out of this fee. I believe a $140 charge for what amounts to a brief visual glance is unreasonable, especially given the lack of transparency about what the inspection actually entails before the service is performed. read more

Do not use Amerigas if you live in the Upper Valley in Vt/NH. Find a local company who will be there for you in an emergency even if they are a little more expensive. When we lost heat in the house in the middle of January our plumber was away on vacation. It was a weekend so we called the "emergency number" for Amerigas. That number connected us to someone in India with whom it was impossible to have an exchange of ideas because she would not deviate from some script Amerigas apparently insisted she stick to--a script that must not have contained any reference to "emergency" or "frozen pipes." After a frustrating twenty minutes or so she said she would call an Amerigas technician in our area. When the Amerigas technician finally made contact with us, it was to tell us he couldn't come to the house because it was snowing--and in truth there may have been some flakes in the air but everybody else, including our eight year old granddaughter's hockey team--had no problem at all getting where they needed to go. This company is a total scam. We ran out of propane and needed an emergency order. We paid $300 for us to be put in a system that can take up to three days after you paid the fee to even receive the propane. We had no heat and hot water in the brutal cold of New England winter with a newborn after calling customer service multiple times to speak to another person who gives you completely inaccurate information the first person we spoke to guaranteed 24 hours the second said they will try to escalate it after being completely ignored. We still have not gotten it on the third day. Everyone tells you different information. They also have a bunch of hidden fees. I couldn't believe that we don't get some type of emergency order based on that information as well as being a premier member. Also, the delivery for the propane is a policy that I've never heard of in my entire life. The driver does not call you or give you a timeframe of when they're going to be there... For the whole three days so if you have to work and can't have someone go to your house for you because there needs to be an adult that's 18 to receive the delivery you have to look at your camera or wait for your door to knock and take work off for three days until you receive your delivery. Even when you buy a couch they give you a delivery date and a four hour timeframe window for someone to be there. Their drivers do not even call to tell you when they're going to be there if you need to leave work or make reservations for someone to be at your house I've never heard of this anywhere else. There is absolutely no timeframe or window and all of those three days, yet we already paid the emergency fee. Apparently this is not an emergency to them, and this is how their poor business model works. They want people to miss their delivery so they can re-charge them the $300. Do not use them! read more

They are a horrible company to deal with period.You can only talk to advisors, that are not located in the US.They can only forward you to a manager to sit on hold for an hour. Both times I sat on hold I was disconnected to take a review and then heard a dial tone. I was scheduled for gas a week ago but they are behind and yesterday I ran out of gas. It is 13 degrees outside, I have no fire place, not furnace and no way to cook. My account says someone is coming and nobody shows. They suck and have no customer service. After 4 plus Years of Complaining off gas smell when the weather got hot. I went and check the 325 gallon tank on a 90 degree plus day. I finally found a leak at the end of tank in the weld. I called the fire department instead of the AmeriGas. 5 trucks showed up. dispatch called the company. 5 hours later a truck show showed up. then a technician came. the tank was pumped out. The absolute worst company to deal with. On hold for hours when you try to reach them. No one ever, ever calls back. Service reps just pass the buck from one person to the next and no one can solve a problem (of getting a tank monitor installed). It's been 8 months and literally no one can tell us what company they use to install the monitor because they don't do it themselves. Use anyone else for you gas or propane. BEWARE AMERIGAS DISCONNECT FEES. Before receiving my final closing bill, my balance was paid in full. After notifying them I wanted to discontinue service, I received an invoice for $274.99. I called AmeriGas and was told that their terms & conditions had changed recently and that customers are now charged a $75 Service Dispatch Fee and a $199.99 Pick-up Charge - thus a total of $274.99 to disconnect and pick up my tank !!! Additionally, it took 2 months for AmeriGas to pick up the tank (which my new provider was forced to disconnect so as to set up my new service). To add to my aggravation, it was after the 2 months that I was forced to call them to request they remove their tank. So for the second time in as many years, I was just charged for 200 gallons of propane for a 100 gallon delivery. Done with these crooks. If you happen to make the mistake of ordering propane from them, take a photo of your gauge with a date stamp. I just ordered 200 gallons with my gauge at 500 gallons. 3 days later the delivery came while I was not at home. My gauge is now at 600 gallons but they sure charged me for 200. Buyer beware. Update: Apparently these scumbags own my tank so I'm stuck with them. If you're in a similar situation, I encourage you to be make sure you're there for the delivery to read your gauge before hand and verify they in fact delivered the amount they are charging you for. I recently bought a new home and decided to use the old homeowner's propane company AmeriGas. Like other viewers said the worst company I have ever experienced with. I went online to open an account with them and scheduled tank swap service first. Guess what? No show on April 26th tank swap. Its system keeps charging me monthly fee $137 but until today the old gas tank is still locked and no gas for my new home. I called customer service at least 7 times and until today no gas... its customer service line offshore does nothing for you. This company is operating like a mafia coz playing monopoly game, cut corners, keep taking your money without providing its service, like gas or customer service. I just found out that they have been charging me $1.50 more per gallon than their competitors. And, I thought it was great that they were topping off the tank every two weeks until I discovered they have a $25 charge per delivery. Beware, you won't get any customer service other than robotic like individuals from somewhere outside the country. They are completely unhelpful and read from a script. I started service with Amerigas bc they portrayed to me that they were cheaper than the current company I had. They took TWO tanks out of my yard and installed three. They told me to call and lock my rate on May 1. When I called I was told that I'd be paying $2.34 a gallon or 2.85 if I didn't use as much propane as they want you to. I then told the gentleman on the phone that I knew why it was those two prices and I was hung up on. When I called back I obviously got a.different call representative who then proceeded to tell me that I NOW couldn't lock my rate until June 1 and to call back then. THEY LIE AND HAVE TH WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PLANET!! UPDATE June 17- So when I called on May 1 to lock my rate as I was instructed to the end result was being told I now couldn't lock it until June 1. I did call back on June 1 and was then told I could not lock my rate until August 1. Amerigas is one of the worst companies ever but I do want to add that their drivers are top notch. I have only had good experiences with their drivers. Those are the men that do all the work to keep the company afloat. I bet they're highly underpaid. Worse company ever! Avoid them like the plague. They promised a 10 calendar day window for delivery of gas. We were in an out-of-gas situation so they required us to be at home. We were told four days in a row that they were coming to deliver gas. They missed all four days. On the 10th day they could not tell us when they would deliver gas and that we were not scheduled on a route. In addition, they charge a yearly fee for the tank when there competitors do not. They also charge $1.20 more than there competitors. Osterman is charging me $3.299 for gas while AmeriGas is charging $4.50. Osterman is also giving me a free tank. I was told by multiple supervisors at AmeriGas that they would honor the $3.299 fee especially since they had missed delivery four days in a row. They came back telling me that they would no longer honor the $3.299 fee and that they would schedule a pickup of their tank. read more

we are very frustrating with Amerigas service and have now taken the steps to cancel. They lie, mis-quote prices, overcharge, and you can never reach anyone in the local area on the phone, you get a call center and reps have thick accents and could care less about your problem. After many phone calls trying to get service to move a tank, we finally gave up and cancelled our account. Now we have to fight to get credit for unused propane and rental fees. this Company is stealing from us all . Their billing is a joke we are paying thru the nose for awful service . We called because we smelled gas a week later a guy shows up at 5 pm worked till 8 replaced the line and attached some sort of regulator to the rotted deck post then charged us over a thousand for repair . We complained that regulator isn't safe they sent someone to fix but did nothing that costed us around 300 twice ITS STILL THERE. We are on auto delivery and pay in full for delivery's . February 13th ( now we are at 8 % and minus 5 at night)we had a scheduled delivery received an email they couldn't get to us . After multiple phone calls to Pakistan for Ameri gas support ( really ) all they said was very sorry and hopefully coming soon ! What is that ! So we ran out of propane on the 18th no cooking showers or heat until 3 pm thursday the 20th 200.00 eating out w fam of 5 , showering at friends for two days and I spent 200 on electric heaters . Set appointment to pickup my tank and nobody arrived. Now, 2 months later still no removal. They did remove the propane in the tank quickly and have not yet refunded the money for what they took. The latest problem is a payment made 27 days ago has still not been credited to my account even after 5 phone calls and sending them proof of payment. The last person I spoke to on Dec 27th guaranteed me the payment was being processed and would reflect on my account within 48 hours and that her supervisor would return my call within 24 hours.
