Extremely poor customer service, overpriced propane at nearly 2x the industry average in New Hampshire (they are charging me just under $5 per gallon - Eastern Propane quoted me at $2.85 a gallon) and had to wait multiple weeks for propane during the middle of winter last year. Worst Customer Service I have ever encountered in my life. They made an error on my bill. Several customer Service agents (I had to call many times on the same issue) understood and agreed that an error was made; but were not authorized to rectify the situation. I was promised a call back from a supervisor who could help on more than one occasion, which never happened. 2 years later the account has been sent to collections and is now showing up on my credit report... all because the woman who handled metered accounts retired; and they didn't have anyone else qualified to fix the issues. They tried billing me $20 after the bill was actually paid in full.. and continued to add late fees to that charge up to the amount of $96. I don't owe any of it, and still cannot get anyone on the phone who can make this right. This company is poorly run and has a lack of integrity. read more

The worst company in America hands down. All of the employees should be American citizens first of all. Every time I order propane it takes 45 minutes. Calls get disconnected, the payment doesn't work, no option to order online. Then when you call back, a different representative gives you a different total. They tried to sneak an automatic "leak check" charge onto my total $150. Most of the representatives are rude and act like you interrupted their relaxing work from home time. One guy sounded like he was in a tunnel running on a treadmill. I couldn't understand anything he said. Whoever took over the company is an ass hat. read more

Amerigas couldn't have a worse customer service. We decided to go all in with Rymes. which btw has an outstanding staff and service. After calling Amerigas several times for almost two months, they finally came over to get their tanks out of out house. The next day we get a bill of $199 plus another $99 as a dispatch fee. They think we are idiots. I am reporting them and I am not paying for this fraudulent bill. please get away from this bankrupt company sooner than later and for those who are contemplating becoming their customer, choose Rymes instead . I have been using them for over 8 years and decided to switch from oil to propane and they couldn't have a better team of professionals and knowledgeable staff with a great customer service. This is an absolute criminal organization. I have a 500 gallon tank that was originally installed by EnergyNorth and unless I consumed 250 gallons every year (half the tank size), I would have to pay a rental fee. Fast forward to when AmeriGas purchased EnergyNorth and the MINIMUM amount I have to consume is now 1,000 gallons! 4x MORE than I had to use with EnergyNorth!! My home is very energy efficient and so we average 600-700 gallons a year. AmeriGas is trying to capitalize on this by making us pay an obscenely high rental fee and their customer service is absolutely horrendous (and that's if you're lucky enough to even understand what they're saying). read more

The worst company I have ever dealt with. After years with the company, and never missing a payment, I moved and closed my account. Suddenly an invoice shows up at my door noting an outstanding balance of $440.20. I immediately call them and get told that the invoice is from 2020 (it is now 2024) but they cannot explain why I was not notified of this old invoice. I escalate to their resolution team and get hung up on. I call back and get told that the invoice should not be billed to my account and that the issue should be resolved in a week or two. A month later I receive a late charge so I call them again and receive a completely different story on what happened but am again told that it will be removed from my account and not to worry. The cycle has repeated for months with no resolution. On the most recent call, I am told that the invoice actually belongs to the new homeowner and that they need to rebill it to them and I am also notified that all prior inquiries were escalated and closed out without any action taken. After again getting a late charge on my account and checking online to confirm the charge is still there, I contacted them this morning. I am told that this will be resolved but they need more time to work on my case (it has now been 4 months). It is seemingly impossible to get any ownership of the issue from anyone at this company. I would not recommend this company to anyone under any circumstances; try to find a local company that is reputable and accountable, Amerigas is anything but. read more

Our tank was completely empty in the winter and they weren't able to come for 5 days for an emergency call and when they did delivered, they locked our tank so we couldn't turn on the heat (bc no one was home when they delivered). Terrible customer service, flawed automatic delivery scheduling algorithm. My 91 year old mother is on automatic delivery and ran out on a Friday night. Low temps for the weekend in the single digits. I talked to 2 customer "service" reps to get an emergency delivery, especially because of her age and the low temperatures. Both reps told me she had to wait until Monday for a delivery since that was when the auto delivery was already scheduled based on their scheduling algorithm. The fact of the matter is it's not only AmeriGas but all the gas companies in the Hillsboro Hancock area are horrible. Larger small companies this seems to be a missing Link in between the field people and the office. In the contracting business usually you get an aloe window for someone to come like a carpenter, or electrician. But in the propane gas world doesn't seem to be the case. Without exception that gives you a full of 8-hour window where you have to take off of work and wait for them for many hours. Often they call and say they're going to be late. When they do come the office workers are pretty great but again as I stated the office part of it is horrible. read more

I am being charged for a delivery I never received. No one from amerigas had ever been to my house on that date (11/19). I did get a delivery days later (11/24) from that date that I have PAID IN FULL....I have called 6 times. Each time they tell me my dispute has been approved. However, I am receiving collection calls now. First time user. I am about to call my lawyer. Do not use them. The 5 to 10 cents a gallon is not worth the headache. Fyi... when you can only fill it to 80% pretty apparent you can not put 542 gallon in a 500 gallon tank that is 30% full. UPDATE: after several bad reviews added today online, I was finally issued a refund after 4 months, 8 phone calls and several emails. We waited for a scheduled propane tank change and piping to pool heater. We prepared a sand fill trench to gas co specs. We filled the trench next to the tank with sand so the propane tank had access on both sides and left a note on the tank which said if you need anything more to install knock on door. AmeriGas came to site and left said there was material in the way. They left the open trench for a holiday weekend filled with rain. They did not come to install they came to find a reason not to do work. No phone calls no knock on door and the worst service in State of NH. read more

I placed a PREPAID order for a residential propane delivery on 12/14/20 and advised the CS rep that I was quite low and she told me that it would still be 7-10 days to receive my delivery. Well today is 12/29/20 and am still waiting! When I call and ask for a delivery status the system states that my delivery is now? Well I've heard the now delivery status since 12/24! Today I filed an official complaint with the NH Attorney General's office due to their continued lack of service commitments. If I hadn't already prepaid, I would drop them like a hot potato! Avoid AmeriGas at all cost! Every year I had them for my propane company they raised my rates, regardless of whether the price of petroleum products were up or down. They charged all kinds of delivery fees. They charged me an under-usage fee, because I wasn't using enough propane. I finally left and found another company who would supply propane at $2/gallon vs. $2.91 from AmeriGas. Now I have a big 500 gallon AmeriGas tank sitting in my front yard and they told me it could be up to 2 weeks to pick it up, and they're going to charge me $150 to pump out the remaining propane and credit me for the remainder. For the second winter in a row, Amerigas (aka Keene Gas of Keene, NH) has consistently lied to me about when they will make a delivery. They promised a delivery by today; now they say it won't be for another five days. I moved to the area two years ago and started using Amerigas. I very foolishly accepted their explanation that last winter was an exception, caused by an acute labor shortage, and that the problems would not recur this year. I pre-bought 1500 gallons, so now I'm stuck with them. You can't reach their local supplier and have to deal with reps on an 800 number, who are very pleasant but consistently make promises that do not get kept. I don't know that you could find a company that cared less about. Their customers are customer service than this company. I was dumb enough to sign up two different homes that I own with them. One is in Marshall, North Carolina and that one has actually gone OK and I just bought a home in Fairview North Carolina and called him up to add that to the account and they said no problem. They have been charging us monthly and we have been paying and we ran out of gas yesterday. We called them and they said the earliest they can come out is a week from now and before they can fill the tank, they have to come out and do a site survey and they can't get here for a week. So here we are with snow in the forecast and no propane and no one ever told us a site survey was required, they did not require it at our Marshall house. We have been paying them for the last 2 1/2 months and no one ever. Let us know that this is necessary, although they readily cash the checks. There is no way to ever find a phone number or ever reach a local office so know that. You will only get an answering service, and when I tried multiple times to get a number for a manager, the answering service tells you there is no way they can connect us to a local office. I have only written about 5 reviews in my life, and all were positive. But I must say that this is the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with. If there were options, I would change service providers in a heartbeat. A little background - we have a large propane tank behind the house that serves a few outdoor appliances: a spa, a gas grill and a fire pit. We rent the tank from them, they own it. We've had a single tank for about 25 years and called for a fill-up whenever we needed one. About 6 months ago, I noticed the tank was rusting and we called and asked them to check the tank to consider replacing it. They did so and said it was fine, no replacement needed. Then inexplicably, they replaced it about 2 months later. Ok so far. Then a couple of weeks we ran out of propane completely, something that had never happened before in the 25 years we've had the tank. Concerned that there might be a leak, we called and asked for leak check. The call center representative said he placed a fill up order to be done immediately after the check, assuming the check was negative. 4 days later, the serviceman came, did the leak check (no leak) and said there was an order in to fill the tank within 3 days. After those days came and went, I called them again. Had to go through 2 different representatives to be able to communicate with anyone, they said it would arrive the next day. This has gone on each day now for a week - each day they fail to deliver the gas, and each day the call center person says it'll be there "tomorrow". My frustration is with the call center. EVERY phone number Amerigas has is routed through this offshore center. You are completely unable to call the local office. When you check the website, it says that the office does not service the public .... essentially, don't bother stopping by, we won't deal with you in person. Twice now, I've asked to speak to a supervisor, and amazingly (!) both representatives stuck to the script and said there are 2 supervisors there and both are in meetings and can't be disturbed. Each time, I've asked to be transferred to the local office and they transfer me back to the call center line. Bottom line, IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF PROVIDER - AVOID AMERIGAS LIKE THE PLAGUE! read more

We needed an emergency refill of the propane tank to heat our house and they refused to come for two days. They are WORTHLESS. They outsourced their customer service somewhere and no one there at all has any authority and each representative invents a new answer. They own our tank so it will be nearly impossible to switch. Amerigas had been my propane supplier for the past 4 years, because I thought I had to stick with the company who owned the tank. Year after year they have raised my propane rate, much higher than what other competitors are charging. When they offered for me to lock in at $2.96 per gallon for the winter 2020/21, I had had enough and switched to another company who's rate is $1.78 per gallon. Amerigas' tank was 22 years old and needed to be replaced. The tank was removed and had 15% propane in the tank (75 gallons) of which I had already paid $225.75 @ $3.01 a gallon last year. Amerigas informed me that they do not credit back for the propane I already paid for! Then today I received a bill for $144.99 for them having to come out to collect their tank and to pump out the 75 gallons. I called their customer service department and they told me this was company policy. AVOID Amerigas at all costs. What a terrible experience! read more
