We have been testing new parks around town and stumbled across this one off of two big roads,…read morenestled behind a high school and in-between different neighborhoods. It is ungated and large, but right on a busy intersection, which is scarier with smaller kids playing everywhere. There are two seating areas, a large one with lots of tables and a smaller one with one table underneath the awnings. There are restroom facilities on location but I did not check to see if they were unlocked (as other reviewer said). There was a small putt-putt area with a flat grassland with lots of holes for playing, but no balls or clubs around. Three large areas of play were set up, each with their own playscapes and smaller amenities. Lots of twirly things for kids to sit, stand, or ride on. Lots of open spaces to run around or fly a kite, maybe?, And sidewalks for kids to ride bikes or scooters. The areas are sort of divided into age groups for recommendations on who should play where to help parents and kids control some of the chaos otherwise. It sort of works but there is still a good smattering of kids of all ages all over. There were only traditional swings with infant seats. They had the giant rope swing thing for older kids, but no regular swings. The parking lot was easy to access and had ample spaces available. They was a lot of people coming and going during spring break. We were here for almost two hours and it didn't get nearly 1/3 as crowded as Exploration Park and was just as fun! The ice cream man with the power ranger sidekick made it to this park, too, and made a killing in sales. Lol. I would recommend this park, but be careful about kids running around because they could wander into the street. The open grassy areas would be great for playing soccer or catch if there was a gate or something to stop kids from bolting after rolling toys, which is the only reason I took one star off of this otherwise beautiful, spacious and fun park.

I was really looking forward to Houston's FIFA Fan Festival and expected to visit multiple times…read moreduring the World Cup. With Houston hosting matches, I imagined fans from around the world chanting, singing, and creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. The biggest disappointment was the lack of energy. People wore jerseys representing their teams, but there was very little cheering or interaction. Surprisingly, the festival seemed to feature more NASA exhibits than World Cup exhibits. As an engineer, I enjoy anything related to space, but it felt out of place at a FIFA Fan Festival. Note the Houston Hall was the best place to watch the matches because it was indoors with air conditioning. There were long lines throughout the venue--for entry, exhibits, and giveaways. The Bank of America bracelet booth regularly had 30+ minute waits, and I was shocked to later see those free bracelets listed on Facebook Marketplace for over $100. Food and drinks were also expensive ($8 for a Coke and $6 for bottled water), and most food trucks didn't display prices, so you had to wait in line just to ask. Similarly, prices weren't listed on the football jerseys so you had to keep going to the check counter to ask how much; pretty annoying! On the plus side, you can bring an empty clear water bottle (remove the label) and refill it at the free water stations. They also provide complimentary sunscreen, which was a thoughtful touch. I also want to recognize the staff and volunteers, who did a great job keeping things running smoothly. Many were friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions throughout the day. If you plan to visit, arrive early, especially for popular matches, as capacity is limited. I also recommend parking at the Harrisburg Metro Garage for just $1 after validating a METRORail ticket, then taking the train two stops to the festival. It's much cheaper than parking nearby. I'm glad I went once to experience it, but I wouldn't go back and don't recommend. I'd much rather enjoy the matches at home with air conditioning and an ice-cold beer in my hand. More than anything, I wish the festival had embraced the passion and culture of the World Cup. Instead of feeling like one of the world's biggest sporting events was taking place just minutes away, it felt surprisingly dull.

On popular gamedays, def go early. I heard that the last Mexico game (which wasn't until 8pm) hit capacity by 2pm. That's probably expected for this coming Tuesday's match of Mexico vs Ecuador. Wear a hat, sweat wicking clothes, sunscreen, take an empty water bottle, and drink those electrolytes before you go... It's also very family-friendly, but I saw too many babies (like, infants) and toddlers looking miserably hot. Shout out to the volunteers. Can't believe FIFA isn't paying people for their service. They're making record profits. SMH.

HWSA is definitely "on top of their game" and are efficient and organized. If it's raining, they'll be sure to post the most updated information for you to inform you if your game is still on or if it's been re-scheduled. The parks that HWSA holds games at are safe, clean, and relatively easy to find. The referees are (for the most part) good at what they do... every now and then you'll get a ref that you just want to replace, but hey, it comes with the territory. I highly recommend coming out and joining HWSA even if you've never played soccer before in your life. They have divisions 1-5 co-ed soccer. I think 5 is the most beginner, so if you're more advanced, then you'd want to sign up to be in division 1. It's so much fun, and you'll meet a lot of new people for sure. If you want to "exercise" without having to run on a treadmill or elliptical machine at the gym, come chase a soccer ball around, you'll definitely get what you asked for, and the best part is, it won't even feel like exercising!

Upon my morning visit, I witness diverse athletes enjoying themselves, youth soccer camps, bike riders, and dog walkers. It is a hidden, large park with plenty of parking. Pressed by the public restroom buildings that featured hands-free soap, dryers, and even toilet paper napkin tissue. It was my first time experiencing this Kleenex-like dispenser. It was well appreciated when one is hot and sweaty!
