It was nice. Timberline Grill had good food. Slot machines are ok. Nice and spacious.

Was told early check im would cost me when it was 150pm. Other guests were allowed to check in right after me before 2pm free of cost. Not sure if i was being targeted but sure wasnt a pleasant experience.

A fine location in Black Hawk, Colorado. Canyon views. A mountain feel. The pool was fabulous. I was there during the Memorial Day weekend and it didn't seem too busy. Hardly any screaming children. Outside rooftop deck with firepits were relaxing. Casino was decent. Spotty restaurants to choose from with some being good and others not so good. You take what you can get I suppose. I noticed it is somewhat of a food desert in the early morning hours from 3am to 7am. Overall a nice getaway from the big city. A mixture of spar relaxing, gambling and food. 4 stars!

First time stay at the Ameristar Black Hawk and I had a great experience and time! This is my bestie's favourite casino and she frequents it often. She suggested we all go up for a couple of days to hang out and relax and rejuvenate since my first visit to Black Hawk involved a birthday celebration, too many shots, and no good memories. We arrived during a rush so valet and the front desk was a bit hectic. Valet was missing Sergei who would have made sure everything was running smoothly. The front desk was swamped with a line of about 15-20 guest groups. They recovered by bringing out a couple more desk clerks and the line moved quickly and we got up to our room. The two queen room was on a high floor away from the elevator. The rooms are spacious as is the bathroom. Love that the rooms have a water closet for privacy. I love the mission-style decor throughout the hotel, casino, and rooms. Our first night included a spectacular dinner at Timberline (which I already reviewed). We received excellent food and service at Timberline. I would go back in a heartbeat! After dinner we sat in the bar and enjoyed cocktails and the DJ spinning. Music and atmosphere were on point. The bestie is the gambler in the family so we headed up to the room and called it a night. Bed and pillows were so comfy and loved that the AC got the room nice and chilled. Slept great. The next day we enjoyed the pool and hot tubs on the 34th floor. It was perfect hot rubbing weather: rainy and chilly. We chatted with some nice people also partaking of the amenities. We followed up by having lunch at Fireside Kitchen and enjoyed another great meal. Our server was great and our food was delivered by a robot which was hilarious! We hung out on the casino floor and did some lookie-looing and drinking for a couple of hours before heading out and back down the mountain. Thank you, Black Hawk!

I really like this casino- it's the perfect balance between "laid back" while still being upscale. My friend even brought me to this "club 48" to eat dinner one night while we were there, though I have to admit I was quite disappointed that the food overall was very "meh." However the rooms are quite nice and I'd totally stay here again!

Nice looking casino. I like that all casinos are in one area and literally next door and across the street from one another. The parking ramps are a bit confusing but still easy to get in and out of. Since I was a passenger, I went with the flow.

Ask the Community - Ameristar Black Hawk

    Does this casino have roulette?

    Yes

    Does the casino allow smoking?

So, there is no smoking in any Colorado casino, but they do have nice smoking patios with heaters. Also, the hotel itself recently went completely non smoking in all of their rooms.

    How loose are the slots?

On a Friday or Saturday night the red one's are hot, but check to see if someone won recently. If so, then they will likely be cold for a bit. It all depends on amount of people playing, weekends are better.

Before booking, I called several times to confirm availability and finally got through to someone who told me there were openings at 2:45 and that I could finish the booking online. I completed the reservation online, entered my credit card information, and pressed complete, so I was surprised when I visited today to be told it appeared the booking had not gone through. When we arrived, the spa couldn't find our reservation and explained they'd been having problems with their new booking system. A few staff members even mentioned that other guests had experienced similar issues. My mother-in-law was visiting from Pittsburgh PA, and we had driven over an hour for the appointment, so it was really disappointing. We also ended up having to choose different services than we originally wanted because our massage reservation could not be found. Thankfully, the staff was very kind and did their best. They were able to fit us in for manicure and pedicure instead but a different times. The spa itself was beautiful and relaxing, and we still ended up having a nice experience overall. Shelly, our manicurist, was fantastic. That said, I truly never complain, which is why this was especially disappointing. I really hope management gets the booking issues sorted out soon because it put a damper on what was supposed to be a really special day. I also feel like some kind of gesture or acknowledgment would have been appropriate for the mistake. Overall, the staff and service were great, and if we had received the experience we originally booked, it easily would have been a 5/5.

We are both short ('5, "4) and we're both able to soak at the same time. Our room was spacious and the king bed was so comfortable - it was awesome! Staff were so nice and kind throughout our stay. Pros: Free Parking for all (not just those who stay here), luxury on a budget, free soft drinks and coffee/tea on the casino floor, kiosk check-in available Cons: Food options weren't my scene. The choices were a buffet, 24/7 diner, steakhouse, or a taco bistro. We opted to eat at Jinya Ramen at Ameristar. Also, I was unimpressed by the sparse new player rewards.

It is a very charming place to walk around. The casino only has valet which is nice so you don't have to worry about remembering where you parked the car or having to walk back and forth in the weather. Each staff member we came across was very helpful and happy to greet you whether it was security, waiters, dealers, or custodians. The building seems to be new but well-kept on the inside based on the amount of business they were doing. The casino does have a player's club where you can earn the buffet and other rewards based on your playing mostly the slots. They had a huge variety of slots starting with penny machines all the way up from there. Some machines were all computerized while others were old school (my fav!). Machines let you play without just taking your money. I saw quite a few people when the jackpot on the machines. They were also having drawings for hundreds of dollars for being present and playing. We didn't have an ice bucket in our room and had to call down for one. The shower does not get that hot, which is frustrating. At check-in the lady didn't know how to work the key card machine. She only gave us one key card and it expired the next morning even though we were scheduled to be there for 3 days. There was a huge line, so we tried using the kiosk and it would not register either of our id's. So we got back in line and waited 20mis to get new keys (she was understandably checking in new guests, it just sucked to wait when we had somewhere to be and this could have been avoided in the first place). We ordered food from the room and payed for it with our card, but they also charged it to our room upon check out. The person at the front desk didn't know how to erase the charge, but called their manager who over the phone said they would take care of it. There are a few unsavory individuals that run around the motel. A girl and her guy friend that were literally rolling off of nitrous that she was actually carrying around in her arms going floor to floor during check out time. So...that was interesting. There's not a store or anything nearby, so if you needed something extra, other hotels in the area will actually have something. Also, there are some weird smells coming from the hallway near the elevator on the check-in floor.
