I highly recommend the John E Roberts Funeral Home for their meticulous organization that is personal and not perfunctory. Everyone on staff was genuinely warm and understanding. From coordinating church service, military honors with flag presentation and a bronze plaque at his gravesite for Veterans to the flowers on my father's casket (gorgeous white lilies and ranunculus) it was beautiful and understated. Our family didn't feel rushed or pressured at the wake or the service and burial. The personal service set it apart from other funeral homes: I'd been to two services for my grandmother and stepfather 10 and 15 years ago and they were cold and impersonal compared to John E Roberts Funeral Home.

For such a personal experience it felt intrusive having the facility pick up truck lined up with our vehicles. Apparently a Corporation out of Texas bought them out and flat-out fired the best of the best people they had. Even the staff was complaining " they know nothing about Buffalo." They don't put a penny back into the business. The prices nearly DOUBLED! Joe and Gordon and I think Debbie are gone. There was no one at the door, no golf cart and some lady who refused to make cookies when we asked nicely. She said " we've had enough and we close soon." It seemed unkempt and run down. Even the coffin! They could only afford to rent one but it looked all banged up and scratched. What used to feel warm and homey is now just worn and neglected. The staff was even complaining how "they" ( Some out of state company,) ruined the business and the " call volume?" had plummeted. It's so sad. You can see they are unhappy working there. You could cut the air with a knife. Not only because such a great person was lost but the complete opposite of everything Mr Lombardo stood for. I hope Joe and Gordon and Debbie and everyone who quit or got fired, open a fresh new funeral home somewhere nearby.

OK, weird to be a "fan" of a funeral home…read more But I am. Ive been to far too many wakes/funerals etc this year. As a result ive spent time in many places I don't go often. This is one of them. Located on Delaware in a stately mansion this location has multiple rooms to accommodate different gatherings. The rooms are nicely done, have a number of couches and chairs, allow for plenty of room for flowers and pictures and are generally well laid out. The Amigone employees are terrific. They are courteous but reserved. They answer questions as needed but don't get in the way. They will even take message for people there if needed. The parking lot often has an attendant or two if its crowded, which is pretty useful. Its also big and can accommodate many cars if needed. If you are in the need of these services this location is worth a call to check availability.
