This was a really good brunch buffet. I met a friend here for their weekend brunch buffet which we both enjoyed. Staff were friendly and the Bellinis were tasty. A very large space inside with lots of seating. The buffet was on the bar side of the restaurant. There was a seafood section, some pastries, main breakfast options, fruit, an omelette and prime rib station, and mini desserts. I did enjoy the seafood although it lacked any sauce (hot sauce, vinegar) which I requested from my server instead. Overall, a very good buffet with plenty of options for people to enjoy.

I cannot thank Christian and the wonderful staff at J. Gilbert's for making our anniversary dinner a magical experience. The food was phenomenal, the timing was everything, we never felt rushed, and they saw to our every need. We will definitely be back again! If you go, try the scallops and truffle butter wild mushrooms. They are the stuff dreams are made of.

They offer a great happy hour with full sized discounted appetizers unlike other places that discount portion with the price. Drinks are great and atmosphere is intimate and welcoming. Also love the smell of real wood charcoals

Location has plenty of parking and indoor seating. Hosts were welcoming and our waiter was attentive. I really enjoyed my pineapple martini and loved my added cherries. Food was flavorful and the bread was absolutely delicious!!! Dessert was ok, but presentation was nice. If in VA we will def visit again.

Went here for dinner the other night. The service was really nice. They did forget my friend's side but brought it immediately once we notified them. Restaurant had decent amount of parking outside restaurant as well as option for valet. We had reservations ahead of time. The place was decently lit and not too loud. The lamb was delicious with a side of mushroom risotto and corn. The carrot cake was huge and really good. My friends said: it was some of the best they've ever had. The crème brûlée was also good (not too heavy).

This is the perfect place to celebrate! My partner & i went to celebrate his birthday and we enjoyed everything from the service to the food. The restaurant gives a intimate and romantic vibe. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling! S/o to our server Lara who gave us awesome recommendations and took very good care of us. We will definitely be coming back and i definitely would recommend!

Went here for a mother daughter date for Valentines Day Dinner. BE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION! We went at 6pm and it was packed so thank God we had our reservation. Parking is tight, but they had a garage directly across the street and Valet. Ambiance is very cute and nice. I wasn't too fond of the table we were at as it was flimsy and close to the neighboring table. Oyster Rockefeller was terrible very soupy and taste was bad. Cesar salad was super basic. However, the steak and lobster were good. My martini was perfect and my daughter loved the lemonade. Deserts were a heart shaped chocolate cake which was superb. I will go again on a regular weekend to see how the food compares as valentines was very busy.

We came here for lunch during restaurant week and it was so packed I definitely recommend getting a reservation! The food was excellent- we really enjoyed the steak frites, crab bisque, and chocolate mousse! The whole restaurant was so pretty and the service was very kind and fast! Definitely worth it

I walked here from my hotel and it was cold outside. When I walked in, I appreciated the warm vibe inside. Since I was by myself, I sat at the bar. The service was adequate. I ordered a bottle of wine and filled my own wine glass. Bartender did check in on me after my food arrived and when I appeared ready to pay. The food arrived a little quicker than I expected, which was great. My steak was cooked perfectly, had great flavor and was tender. I loved the crispy skin on the baked potato as I eat that part too, but did have to brush off a good bit of salt. I like mine with just sour cream, but you can order it loaded. The truffle butter mushrooms were truly delicious.

I've always enjoyed J. Gilbert's, but this visit was disappointing. The service was unusually slow, and when the food finally arrived, it wasn't very warm. The shrimp were overcooked and not as described on the menu. Overall, the quality seems to have gone downhill from what it used to be. Unfortunately, I'll probably look elsewhere next time. The sour cream and onion martini tasted nothing like sour cream and onion

Disappointed--French Onion Soup was too salty--too much bread and Cheese was chewy--like gum--Beef rib tips were so overcooked and sparce--Prime Rib was not Prime-not even Choice.

My mom felt very special dining here for her birthday as I made a reservation and let the restaurant know what we were celebrating! All the food was absolutely delicious and definitely the best steak I've probably ever had. The server was very attentive and knowledgable since it was our first time dining here (won't be our last). Thank you J. Gibert's for making our dinner so special.

We've been coming to J Gilbert's for years, mostly for steakhouse dinners. We had a not so great experience two years ago and hesitated coming back. This past weekend we checked out the Sunday brunch for my father's 80th birthday. It was wonderful. The brunch features oysters, shrimp, bagel and lox, and omelette station, fresh carved prime rib, lots of desserts... there's table delivered waffle service although we did not take part in that. The service was excellent, and the price was just right. I'm glad we went back and gave them another try :-)

The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. So that was kind of a disappointment for us. I think if we go again, we would request to box our food ourselves since I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of all of his lamb.

As soon as we entered, General Manager Sam welcomed us like old friends. After we were seated, my wife asked if he had previously worked at The Dabney, and sure enough, that's where we recognized him from. It was great catching up as he shared what he'd been doing since then and how his dream had always been to open his own restaurant. Seeing that dream come to life made the evening feel even more special. The restaurant was busy (definitely make reservations), but we were able to enjoy cocktails while we waited for our table. My Grey Goose martini with bleu cheese olives was phenomenal and set the tone for the rest of the meal. We started with the Bison Tartare and the Ceviche. The bison tartare was leaner than traditional beef tartare, and the crispy chips added the perfect savory crunch. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and bright. For our entrées, I had the ribeye while my wife ordered the Dory. The ribeye was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My wife couldn't stop talking about how buttery and delicious the fish was. To finish the evening, we ordered the 100-Year Port Flight featuring 10-, 20-, 30-, and 40-year ports. Vertical tastings are such a fun way to experience how a wine evolves over time. The 40-year was absolutely outstanding, and the 20-year was another favorite. The 10-year was enjoyable but still showed its youthful character compared to the older vintages. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and relaxed. The main dining room can feel a little tight when the restaurant is full, while the bar area has a few TVs for anyone wanting to catch a game. One thoughtful touch that stood out was the women's restroom being stocked with amenities like hair ties and hair clips. We noticed they also offer a tasting menu, and after this experience, that's already on our list for our next visit. Between the outstanding hospitality, exceptional food, excellent cocktails, and welcoming atmosphere, Evelyn Rose absolutely earned five stars.

We had a family event of approximately 36-40, and 4 waiters to attend to our party. I think it would be better if they split the waiters by section- I felt it was disorganized - I had to ask for the drink menu 3x and waited 20 minutes. They also took our dessert order but then my mom and I never got ours- but the waiter said he brought everything out (there was nothing served to us), and he did eventually bring it out about 25-30 min later when we were leaving. It seems like they bring around the meat selections speedily for about 30-45 min (it's like one immediately after the other) and then it's finished- so make sure you get the selections within those first 30-45 min. But they did bring some meats back when people asked- so that was nice. The ribeye and filet were the best, I'd skip the chicken- super dry. Desserts were average to subpar. Cosmo was watered down but the espresso martini was good! I think I'll try again as just a smaller party/regular dining guest and see how that goes. DELICIOUS! He also recommended the: 2. Smoked Old Fashioned and it was served to perfection as well. Nice and smoky and smooove. Then...we had the lobster tacos. I don't like lobster. Well, I didn't like lobster until I tried these tacos. To be honest, the lobster tasted like crab legs and the taco was dressed in all fresh ingredients (avocado, charred corn, cilantro, and a fresh flour tortilla) Alright...then next up was the Panko Crusted Sole. It is not filleted tableside because it is pan seared in the kitchen. It was very filling. I think I had three nice-sized filets. It came pretty much with a light and fresh tomato salad. You should do it! Then there was the Crab Cake, which was good. It was in the sweeter end. It was a large portion. It does not have jumbo lump crab meat, but don't let that deter you. Christ also informed us that the "Accompaniments" (sides) could be ordered in half sizes and indeed we - I - had a half size of the Au Gratin Potatoes. They were very smooth, flavorful, and creamy. Also, shouts out to Oscar who held down the water service and the other little things in between that also made this evening even better. The ambiance...I can't wait to head here again on Friday! House-smoked Prime Rib: the sides of the prime rib have a strong Smokey flavor which goes well with the aju gravy from the poutine. We got the 16 oz for a $15 upcharge. Braised short rib: quite tough but the flavor was good with a nice mashed potato. There was celery which confused the taste a bit since celery is quite strong and overtook he rest of the vegetables' flavor. Flourless Chocolate Cake: dense chocolate cake with a cherry glaze. It was okay, but not my favorite. Bread pudding: very dense and a bit too rubbery texture, likely from slight overcooking. Flavor was lovely though and it was warm.

I have wanted to come here for a long time. It is a local restaurant near the office. I saw it on…read morethe websites and everything looked awesome. Several coworkers said they came here and enjoyed their time. I came here for dinner mid week in order to try it out. The restaurant was very busy but we were able to find a table at the back. To start I ordered the Margarita. It was not too sweet and had the right amount of liquor. For starters we ordered the Tex Mex Eggrolls with avocado dipping sauce. These were great. I really enjoyed them and would love to have more. For the entree I ordered the Patsy's Lobster Roll. I was very happy with it. They had a great amount of lobster on the roll. The fries were great as well. I enjoyed the meal here. I would love to come back as well and try out all their other options.

The raspberry lemon drops were really good, but a little too strong for me so my husband ended up finishing mine. The crab and shrimp fritters were different from what I would usually order, but they were surprisingly delicious. My husband's Louisiana pasta was so flavorful and very filling. We really enjoyed everything and I definitely want to come back to try more things on the menu!
