We found Ampol on Yelp and were very pleased with the service we received. We moved from a 1 BR/1 Bath apartment into a townhome. I admittedly have alot of stuff and the guys from Ampol didn't complain at all. They showed up on time, reviewed all of our rooms and got started. We have a fireproof file cabinet (I won it at a trade show years ago). Anyway it weighs almost 400 pounds. They got it from our 2nd floor apartment(with a narrow winding staircase) into the basement of our townhouse(with an even more narrow winding staircase). They put all the boxes where we asked. It only took them an extra hour because of dealing with the difficult exit at our apartment. Adam, Rafal, and Chris were friendly and fast! Will be recommending Ampol to anybody planning to move. The guys at Amol moving did a great job. They were quick, efficent, and courteous. They lay down a runner carpet so they wouldn't damage our floors with the snow and slush from outside. They were gentle with our furniture so the wouldn't damage it or the walls of our new home as the maneuvered and manipulated heavy items up the stairs. Based on previous reviews, we decided to use this moving service. We HIGHLY recommend them! First, I phoned them to get a basic overview of the services offered. One of the owners patiently explained to me the process and the basic fees. Next, the other owner came to our home and walked through it with me. Based on what we had, he emailed me an estimate. After doing further research with other movers, my husband and I decided these were the people to hire. I am SO happy we did!! The 4 men showed up right on time. They looked at what we had and went right to work. It took them 2 hrs to pack our 3 BR house into their truck.(Mind you, we took apart the bed frames & dining and kitchen tables & had staged the garage w/ 80 boxes & tubs). After a 45 min drive to new home, it took them 2 1/4 hr to offload everything. We opted to do reaasembling ourselves. We also chose to unWrap our furniture as well. My secret skill is picking bananas. I can almost always pick the bunch that will go ripe at just the right speed and won't have lots of black mushy spots. My husband on the other hand is in charge of picking the movers from here on out. My pick three years ago kinda sucked; Ampol on the other hand, rocked. They came in with a great rate quote, and they were really friendly from the get-go. Sometimes you worry that low hourly rates mean they will either do a crappy job or take their sweet, sweet time, but this was neither. I also discovered that "Ampol" has GOT to be short for "American Polish" because these guys.... definitely Polish. Three young, strong guys showed up and while they all spoke perfect English, they also communicated amongst themselves in Polish. Anyway. +Low rates: $65/hr for two guys, $85/hr for three, and they prorate per quarter-hour. +Low travel fee. +Shrink-wrapping and blankets are included! No nickel and diming here. +No day laborers/contractors -- these guys all work for the company. +Quick response -- e-mails and phone calls were returned promptly. By the president of the company! +Careful, thorough, friendly, not interested in wasting anyone's time. Took us about 4.5 hours to move from a two bedroom apartment in Wood Dale to a three bedroom house in southern Lombard. While I sure as heck hope we don't have to move again anytime soon, I would definitely use these guys. So yes, my husband gets to pick this kinda stuff ... I will stick with the bananas. read more

Timely, conscientious, thorough, and very cost-effective - Ampol didn't charge extra for moving from the third floor, stretch-wrap, mileage, or time to/from their office (all of which other companies I received quotes from planned to bill for). These guys did such a fantastic job on our move, I had to write a review for them. We moved in June of this year, and we were extremely disorganized - I was 9 months pregnant and working 7 day weeks leading up to the move, so everything was kind of chaotically thrown around. Even so, Ampol still came in exactly on estimate. They HAULED ASS to get everything disassembled, loaded, moved, and set back up. They worked like it was their money at stake if they took too long. It was also great to not have to watch them doing their thing so we could focus on corralling our cats. Overall, they were fast, professional, accurate to the quote (which was one of the lowest around), and didn't damage anything. So it's been a while in the making, but we still absolutely recommend Ampol to everyone who asks and would use them again in a heartbeat (which, hopefully won't be for a while now....) read more

I had to find a moving company with only two week's notice. I kid you not, every other moving company was charging an arm and a leg for every little thing (packing, transportation fees, making additional stops, etc.). Ampol was available and had a flat rate fee (as others on here have commented). The movers came to my home in the suburbs on time, worked VERY fast, were careful to make sure everything was wrapped up, and were very polite. Then we made a stop to my sister's place in Chicago, and finally arrived at the final spot in the city. They had to climb a few flights of stairs for my sister's place but they were so polite about it and did not charge extra. Once at the final destination, they worke dveyr quickly and had everyhting unpacked into my apartment in about 20 minutes. Overall, it cost $292.30 for about 2.5 hours of work and all that traveling. They are men worth tipping because of their quick and efficient work. The two men were great and I am very satisfied. I highly recommend them. UPDATE: I used Ampol Movers again in April to move from one apartment in the city to another/ Once again, they were very thorough, gentle with all of my furniture, and they even disassembled my bed frame and reassembled it all at my new apartment with no issue. I have moved quite a few times in my life. Maybe even 15 times. I usually get friends to help out, but this time I just couldn't bring myself to request the help of others. So I hired movers. I came on Yelp and found Ampol Moving and they had a lot of great reviews. So I took the leap of faith! They were excellent. Arrived 10 or so minutes early. Were fast, friendly and affordable. I called about 4 other places to get quotes and this was the most reasonable.The other places were charging for equipment and the commute time from their place, to my place and back. I moved about 20+ miles away so for some was going to pay $100 just to drive from my old place to new place. I also called maybe 3-4 times prior to the move date with questions, etc and spoke to Milos (sp?) everytime at all hours and was super friendly and helpful. Bottom line, I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking to do a move in the Chicago-land area! Support your local business owners. Especially hard working ones! read more

They bring their own materials to wrap and move furniture carefully, so all we had to do was keep our stuff packed and we were ready to go. Ampol Moving did a seriously good job with my recent move. These guys were some of the hardest working guys I've seen. I had to move my 3 bedroom house with appliances and a lot of boxes. We took two trips since my destination house was nearby and I had to swap appliances at each house. These guys were careful, courteous, and non-stop. I had to basically force them to take a break with some tempting sandwiches. They asked me where everything was to be placed at my destination. Several times they were extra careful moving large items and often recommending that we remove additional parts to avoid damage. These were things I didn't even think of and they were very well on top of it. I was also very happy that they were able to schedule my move with short notice. I contacted them on Monday afternoon for a Friday morning move. The arrived on time with 3 guys and a large truck (just like they said they would), and the price was exactly what I was quoted and agreed upon over the phone. This was our second time using Ampol movers. The second time was just as pleasant as the first time. They showed up 15 mins before their scheduled time. They made sure all of our items were secure with shrink Wrap, and placed neatly in their truck. The items that they needed to take apart, such as our kitchen table, and our daughters crib, were put back together. Instead of just putting our items in one place, they asked us where everything was suppose to go. They made the extra effort to make sure our things were in the correct spot so we wouldn't have to move it ourselves. Moving is very time consuming, and a lot of work, but Ampol movers made our experience very pleasant. These guys are seriously awesome. I was looking for someone fast and fairly priced, and decided on this company after reading the great yelp reviews. Ampol did not disappoint! The movers showed up right on time, carefully handled all of my belongings even though some furniture was very heavy and it was all the way up on the third floor of a unit with no elevator. They got to my destination in no time and I was probably moved out of my one bedroom into my new place in about two hours or so (one hour being the driving time). I was really in a hurry to move and they were so helpful to me. This is the fastest I've ever moved, hurry or not, and they made it so easy and stress-free. The five star reviews are truly genuine! These movers are the best of the best! We needed AMPOL to move us from Rolling Meadows to Arlington Heights. We were moving from a two-bed townhouse to a one bedroom high-rise. AMPOL was there every step of the way, and made my move stress free! I called and booked my reservation about two weeks before the move! I'm glad I called when I did, as they book fast for a reason. The quote included the truck, fuel, three guys, and two hours. Additional hours quoted at $85 /hour. (very reasonable) On moving day, they called me an hour ahead of time. Upon arrival, they called and notified me of their arrival. I let them in and they got to work. They asked us what was to be moved and made a plan amongst themselves. Then, they kicked it into high gear! They got over 40+ boxes and two large pieces of furniture out in under an hour. I have never seen movers like this! They lifted everything like it was a feather! Most movers polk around to rack up the bill, not AMPOL! These guys know what they're doing and do it with care. Everything was loaded with care and compassion. Additional kudos to them, as they had to hear my dog bark like crazy! Upon arriving at my new place, the men made short work of moving everything into my new place. I'm sure they loved the convenience and ease of the freight elevator. They did an excellent job of carefully moving everything in. They were happy to place everything exactly where I wanted it. When it was all said and done, they charged me a very reasonable $400! It was all done in the two-hour quote window! We are so happy with AMPOL we always hand our friends one of their business cards! I recently used Ampol Again (see my review 2/17/2015). Ampol moved all of our household belongings to our new home in an adjacent town. They were professional, courteous, meticulous and efficient. Everything arrived in perfect order, not one scratch or nick. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the amount of work they did, moving up and down stairs, setting up furniture the way we asked, and the speed in which they did so. Moving is very stressful enough as it is, but utilizing Ampol makes the actual transportation of your goods stress free. We had a very positive experience with Ampol movers. We got four movers and two trucks to move us out of a storage locker and into our new home. They worked very quickly yet very careful, and were very thoughtful about their moving strategy. All of our stuff was moved without any damage. One thing that helped keep the move going efficiently were these big, open wheeled boxes that helped move many smaller items at once. The cost was very reasonable considering the quality. We used Marcin and his crew for a move this weekend. 4 men, 95+degrees and a full truck. We had 3 stops and things moving out-in-and around in the second stop. These men were continuously working, gentle with items and maneuvered things like our oversized couch and bed frame like no other company we had before.
