The service was absolutely wonderful. The quality of my nails was amazing. The fact that they don't make you wait they are always on time. There's only two people in the shop working so when you make an appointment, they keep it.. the vibe in the shop is very relaxing. There's no drama. It's very clean. It's a very nice environment and Amy doesn't absolutely amazing job. I used to go to her sister's shop in lemon Grove for many many years and she was very disrespectful always late so I changed and started going to Amy and I love Amy. Aymie's nails fixed them and I go in every 2 to 3 weeks for touchups and I love them. I garden, swim, and I'm generally not gentle on nails, and so far one has never broken. If I could give 1/2 star I would. The worst experience ever. My usual lady didn't have appointments so I decided to try this place based on reviews. I don't know who is reviewing but it was a big disappointment. The lady who did my nails was the Sister to the owner. I asked for a full set. She started to put nails and I explicitly said I wanted them short and thin. She argued with me and kept telling me they would be better long. I told her because of my job I needed them to be short. She kept saying she would fix them. I told her I wanted them thin not thick. She kept saying she would fix them but she didn't. Then after she applied the acrylic she then cuts them and tries to shape them. What a mess. They were thick and horribly shaped. I told her I wanted her to fix them and she said she would but didn't. Then she grabs polish to paint them and I stop her and say you didn't fix my nails she says "I did". No she didn't. They were horrible. Then I try to show her a picture of what my nails usually look like and she refused to look at the picture. Her response was "I don't want to see". I have been getting my nails done along time. And this by far was worse ever. I wanted to cry. I asked her to remove nails because every time she tried to fix them they looked worse. Then she removes them and says she will file my nails down, now my real nails are damaged. They are hideous. All the times I get my nails they are cut and down first then acrylic applied and then filed down. She did it all backwards. Never again. Worst pedicure, not a great experience what's so ever. The lady who did my pedicure was rude, cold and way too fast. She did my pedicure in less than 20 mins. When I told her this was the fastest pedicure I have ever received, her response was you didn't get the callus remover, then proceeded to be rude, talk to her co worker in her language while looking at me with an angry look on her face. So unprofessional. I know the last lady who owned this place had way too many decorations out front but at least she treated you kindly and was very professional. I use to leave here feeling extremely happy and smiley. I will never come back nor recommend this place to anyone. read more

Under new management. Amy is great. Just got a pedicure from John and I have had a lot of pedicures in my life. This was the best!!!

I went to this nail salon on a whim for a gel manicure. It took FOREVER (like 2 hours) and by the time I got home the gel polish was coming off in chunks. So strange! I've never had that happen before. So I went back the next day and showed the owner and said I wanted a refund. She refused to give me a refund because the lady that did my nails wasn't there.. she told me to come back the next day (which was very inconvenient for me). I went back and the owner (Annie) sat me down and told me she fired the lady that messed up my nails and gave me this huge apology. She never refunded my money fully ($35) but gave me a gift card for $20 and said she would do my nails. I went back a week later and Annie started my manicure and kept trying to up-sell me with new things. She told me since my nails are so short I should do the "new" acrylic powder dip.. I agreed and she began free handing this stuff on my nails without any acrylic nail to form it. They were so thick and awkwardly shaped I just wanted to laugh. I thought she couldn't be serious.. the polish wasn't even and you could see the brush strokes. She was also her rough with my cuticles and it was vary painful. After she finished she still charged me even though I gave the $20 gift card. THEN to top it off, I saw the lady in the shop that messed up my nails the first time, the one she supposedly fired!!! She is a liar and not good at her job! Don't go there. read more

To be honest, I don't review many places but this was one of the nicer nail salons I've been to in a while that charges at such reasonable rates so I want to rave about them. I love that as soon as I walked in I was greeted and they immediately ask me what I came in for and offered me water or soda that they have in a mini fridge, which is nice and cold just how I like my drinks. The location parking lot is small but they have a lot of street parking. The salon was very clean, modern and organized and everything was labeled unlike many salons (I notice little things like this). I could tell that all the equipment they used were clean and sanitized and most of it looked kinda new. The main reason I was so pleased with them though was because of how my nails turned out. I came in with my nails cut to the very ends because my nails kept breaking. It was not pretty but the technician was able to make it look so cute and was even able to give it some shape. They took their time and I'm so impressed with the gel. There are no bumps or bubbles and my nail is even! This will be my go to spot to do my nails when I'm in SD. Will definitely recommend to all my friends going down there as well. read more

Went here today because I had a gift certificate from mother in law and have been looking for great nail place in SD. I called first to make an appointment since I don't live in East County. It is a hole in the wall place next to a car maintenance lot. Really small parking lot. They were really friendly and started on me right away. The place looked clean but I wish they would have offered me a magazine while I sitting there. They did a great job and even fell asleep on the chair when they massage me. First I want to say that I've been going to Halo Nail & Spa for a long time and Hannah and Cindy have always done a fantastic job and are very sweet and friendly! Unfortunately, the management has changed recently and during my last visit I got the worst manicure ever from the new manager. (My pedicure from Cindy was great though, as usual). The new manager (Annie) talks as if she is very experienced, saying she ran a salon in North County and came here to take over for her "sister or cousin". She explained all the improvements she made in the salon and even told me she insists that all the nail technicians speak only English around customers. I should have known things were not as they seemed when Annie proceeded to speak Vietnamese to the other nail technician often while they were working on my nails. It went downhill from there. She kept trying to upsell me products and jewelry she had on display. She told me they have a new pedicure product from Hawaii and that its really good and I should try it. I agreed, not realizing it was $50. (I didn't notice anything different from my usual $30 pedicure.) I usually get a gel manicure, but Annie said my nails were short and if they were longer they would look better. She told me she uses a new product and they will look great. Annie proceeded to use what looked like an acrylic powder to freeform the nail extensions but she didn't use an acrylic preformed nail as the base for the nail extension as I've seen done every other time. She was rough with my nails as she worked and ended up cutting the corner of my cuticle and it bled. She never said anything or apologized for injuring me. I had to show her the blood before she would wipe it away. I told her several times that I didn't want my nails to be thick and wanted them to look as close to my natural nail as possible. She said not to worry, that she knows what she is doing and said I will be happy with the result. When she was done with them I was appalled. They look terrible! My nails are uneven and malformed, thick on one end and thin on the other end, and there are ripples on the surface of the nail from the brush strokes. If I didn't have to pick up my daughter from work right then, I would have asked her to remove them. I spent over $100 for the mani/pedi and it was a waste of good money. I won't be going back! read more

Had a wonderful experience here! I used to come here when it was under the name Halo Nail, but after a few bad experiences I stopped coming. I was happy to see that it had changed ownership.
