Nooooooooooooooo.... I went here once when I was house sitting for a friend in the neighborhood. It was a good experience, then. My manipedi held up fine, they do a paraffin dip for your hands and put some on your heels- nice touch. However, the second time- awful. I said, "Ouch," twice during my pedicure. I had had a pedicure the week previous, it's not like I had cuticles from all winter that needed to be trimmed. And if I DID, it still shouldn't hurt. The girl was tugging at my toes. I'm gettin upset now, thinking about it. She was veryu sweet and apologetic when I cried out (not that dramatic, but whatever), but regardless, it still hurt and she didn't need to do anything differently. My nails started chipping the following day. That has never, EVER happened to me. The color looks like shit, it's peeling, chipping, seriously looks like total crap. I could have done a better job myself. I will NOT be going back here. Granted my first experience was fine, but the second was such shit I don't want to risk it. read more

This used to be my place. Neighborhood go-to for a mani/pedi. Was a loyal customer for 2 years. And then there was the time that the manicurist RIPPED off not one - but two - of my cuticles so drastically that there was blood. And she just kept on working. I asked her to stop and stood up to pay for my pedicure. The owner was there, I told him what happened. Did he take the mani off my bill? NOPE. Needless to say, this is no longer my place. It's over. The end. I suggest walking the extra block to nearby ZaZaZoo instead. See ya there. read more

While the service was good (the ladies were really pleasant, they massaged my arms/legs/back, etc), my manicure literally chipped two hours after I left. Today (two days later) my right hand has four chipped nails. My nail tech cut my toe (it bleed everywhere) and the blood mixed with the nail polish and when one came off, so did the other. I wouldn't normally care about either one of these experiences, but together it kind of sucked. read more

I'm sitting here getting a pedicure by Kim. I'm so disgusted by the number of times she has already nipped my toes that I figured I would vent here instead of at her. I think its her first time doing one. I came here because my reg was busy. But Kim snipped my feet trying to snip nails and failed to remove any calluses or really do anything noram land significant to my feet. Told her to cut short but all she did was nip the corners and file till it hurt I didn't even want to waste my time telling her. She sanded heels for 20 seconds instead of using rasp and I left with the same cracks I came in with. It had to be her first time and she was training on me. Some of the other ladies may be alright but NEVER have Kim do your pedicure. read more

I went to Nail Gallery for the first time after moving into the neighborhood. I was annoyed that they had a $38 mani-pedi sign outside, $40 price on the price list and charged me $42. Now I'm reading that people have gotten the special for $34. Which is it? Aside from the price - since they are all relatively cheap - they just did not do that good of a job. My manicure never really looked that good and had chipped at the edges before my friend's wedding THE NEXT DAY. My pedicure held up better, but she filed my nails down way too short after I specifically told her not too. I got the feeling that I got an inexperienced staff member while other more-typical Bucktown ladies came in gushing and getting service right away with the woman who appeared to be the owner. I did like the paraffin heel thingys - that was a nice touch, but didn't seem to make all that much of a difference on my rough feet when it was all said and done. I probably would have preferred a good scrub with a pumice stone. As others have said, the place is clean, but I could do without the regular FRESH FM radio (and commercials) on full blast. Maybe they need a TV for something to look at while you get your nails done instead of the big orange wall? I think I'll make the trek back to Lakeview for my $32 mani-pedi at Vie's Nails or try one of the other Bucktown salons from now on. read more

I get my nails done. A lot. I didin't realize it until I saw the high volume of nail salon reviews I've written. Well, when you have man hands you gotta do what you gotta do, I suppose. I'm in denial. I have a problem. I was walking through Bucktown looking at my mitts killing some time before some Memorial Day Weekend day drinking began. I used the Yelp app to find a nearby salon and Amy's Nail had the highest rating. So it was decided. First, they take you over to dip your hands in parrafin wax and wrap them up tightly - a unique touch. The rest of the manicure is pretty standard but after your hand massage, they then further massage your palms with a hot rock. Another unique touch that works. As for the craftsmanship of my polish - nails still look great Tuesday morning with only one nick and that nick was my fault for being an impatient son of a gun so by no fault of theirs. If I lived in Bucktown this place would be my go to for sure. And did I mention that special little manicure was only $15? $13 Mon - Wed. Lots of color choices. Friendly enough staff. Note, they prefer their tips in cash - it's plastered everywhere. Of course I was the a-hole who had $1 measily dollar on me, but when I tried to hold up my manicure for five mintues to run to an atm they assured me they would not hate my guts if I tipped on my card. And to top it off, I rather enjoyed the art on the walls. When does that happen? Nevs. Another solid nail salon. They've more than earned their high rating. read more

Since my last review Amy's has been amazing! The last 2 times, however, have been awful!!! I had a girl whose name was Blue(on her name tag) and wanted a toenail repair and also a pedicure. She couldn't figure out what I needed or couldn't understand what I was even asking her to do very frustrating but then had attitude the entire time but I dealt with it. That was over two months ago fast forward to two weeks ago, I went in for a pedicure and A no chip manicure. The same girl, Blue, was the person doing my Man/Pedi. Started with my pedicure and everything was going fine and she was super nice until the pedicure was done and the rubber slippers she put on my feet broke and I asked if I could please put on my normal sandals which I brought and she looked me in the eyes and said "no you can't wear those". I was taken aback as even pre-Covid I would not walk around any nail salon in my bare feet given the fact who knows what germs I am picking up no matter how cleanly they are! She had attitude the entire time I was getting my no chip manicure and when I asked if she was done she basically looked at me and said yes there you go and I said "thank God "I didn't even tip her because she basically literally shoved the receipt in my face and said there you go I was so frustrated and done never going back ever ever ever!!!!!! If I could guarantee I couldn't get this woman again I still wouldn't go back, she was awful!!! If you have no other choice and have to go to this salon, don't get the girl named Blue!! read more

With the amount of nail salons in the city, you'd think that the search for a good place wouldn't be so frustrating! Well, I have been on the hunt for a new place for about 2 years and I think I have finally found a winner! My friend used to own a boutique across the street, has been a long time client here and highly recommended Amy's. She's a picky gal and hard to please, which is why I don't take her recommendations lightly. So, in dire need of a pedi, I decided to finally try out Amy's. The salon is clean, well organized and the staff friendly. So far, so good. They had plenty of current and classic nail colors to pick from and also have discounted rate specials Monday-Wednesday. I picked my color and settled myself into my spa chair, grabbed a magazine while the tech graciously scrubbed, polished and painted my feet. Their basic pedicure not only offers the traditional spa whirlpool, but hot towels, paraffin wax treatment on your heels AND a leg, neck and back massage....AS STANDARD! Most places would be itching to charge extra for these things but not Amy's. I was thrilled with my service and my pedicure is going strong 3 weeks later. I WILL be back and I WILL tell ALL my friends :). read more

My friend and I had both read great reviews of Nail Gallery on Yelp and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. We were not disappointed! The standard manicure/pedicure is $35 and feels like it should cost way more! I was specifically really impressed that the parafin dip for both your feet and hands was included in this price! Most other salons would nickel and dime you and charge $10 more for that. I also really loved the warm wrap they put over your shoulder while you got the pedicure. Also, the manicure lasts a really long time! They put a layer of top coat after each coat of polish which I think really helped the manicure last longer! We will definitely keep coming back here! I've gone to two nail places in the past few weeks and this one is just stellar. The other not so much... The best things about this place is 1) the paraffin dip for hands... at first, I was like WTF is that?! but then the nice ladies showed me the light and my hands have never felt better. :) 2) the girls are attentive and do not make you feel out of place, they laugh at your jokes and pay super close attention to your nails. I had Naomi who was just delightful, very sweet and awesome at her job. 3) My nails look perfect and my manicure lasted over a week... which is rare. 4) Punch card - after spending so much money with them, they give you a discount on your next visit. :) Me gusta mucho! read more

I convinced my boyfriend to get a pedicure with me earlier today and it was hilarious. He walked in and sheepishly asked if they get a lot of men in the salon (the answer was yes). His embarrassment only last a few minutes though, because he decided that massage chairs and foot massages really are quite nice, even for a man :). (While his feet were in the foot bath, he closed his eyes, leaned back into the massage chair, and muttered "this is awesome"). I believe there is different pricing on weekdays versus weekends, but on a Saturday, a pedicure is $30! On the menu, there is a spa pedicure for $45 and a regular pedicure for $30, but the regular $30 pedicure included a foot soak, exfoliation, a massage AND paraffin wax. I was really impressed. The employees are very friendly and welcoming here-- I will definitely be back! The decor inside could be nicer, but for the value and the quality of service you get here, I would not recommend any other place. read more

The people were so friendly and a great choice of colors. I wish the massage part was a bit longer, but o well!!! I did have a chip on my no chip within a day, however, I called, went back in and they fixed immediately. I have to admit I was annoyed by this, but they fixed with no problem and will give them another try and report back. This is one of my favourite nail places in the city and it's about time I write a review. Yesterday, a close friend was in town and, after a day of shopping in drizzly weather, we decided to treat ourselves to a mani/pedi. We arrived at Amy's right at 6pm (closing time on Saturday) and they actually let us come in for the full treatment anyway!!! They didn't rush us at all and we were amazed that, even though it was Saturday night, they still took their time making sure they got the polish on our hands/feet just right. Continually telling us as we apologised for keeping them after hours, "no, no no! it's okay, don't worry about it!" All done with very sweet attitudes. Now THAT, boys and girls, is exemplary customer service. Full mani/pedi (and can I get a big amen for their amazing massage chairs?) for just $42 on the weekends... heck, I'd gladly pay that just for the leg, hand and neck massage part of the treatment. Beautiful nails and clean quick service! Free street parking a plus!!! I absolutely love the parafin wax and neck/shoulder massage that is thrown into the service. And like most nail spas there is a discount earlier in the week. The color choices are pretty good and the massage chairs are standard. What did it for me was that my nail tech Jane was nice and very maticulace. She did my mani first and then my pedi which was genius so that I would have time to let them dry! I think I had gotten 4-5 manis in my life before my roomie(a nail polish fiend!) dragged me to the Nail gallery. And now I'm addicted. So being the cheapo that I am, I used to hate spending money on manicure for it to chip immediately within a few days. This is the first place I've found where my nails look flawless for 7-10 days. My roomie and I sometimes do our nails at home with base coat, polish, gel coat, top coat, and all the works but can never get our manicures to look as good without getting those stupid annoying sheet marks from sleeping. I swear I watch the ladies doing my nails every time I go, but I have no idea how they make our nails so pretty and chip-proof. Also, Paraffin is included and it's fun to pretend that you have a waxy ghost hand for a few minutes! Best. Mani-Pedi. Ever. My friend and I have been saying for months, "Let's get our nails did!" Well, summer is long over and we FINALLY got around to doing it in December. We took advantage of the $38 mani-pedi special and wow! You really get your dollar's worth! Paraffin, massages, and the sweetest staff I've ever encountered in a nail salon. The little things make all the difference, and they really pay attention to details. Examples: *All of the staff wore uniforms! I don't know why I found this so great - but white shirts, black pants, aprons (and Santa hats!) made them look very professional. They seemed to all get along and work together well, too. *There was a great selection of OPI and Essie colors. *They were all very consistent in technique. I've seen some other places all do different things. Makes you wonder if the girl next to you is getting a better service, y'know? *The place was clean and well-lit! There wasn't an obnoxious TV blaring, but rather some festive (not annoying) Holiday music. *They gave everyone in the shop a free pair of pedicure socks as a Christmas present! AND offered my friend and I some cookies, as we were the last customers of the night. I had a really wonderful experience and great time hanging out with one of my girlfriends. Mani-Pedis are a real treat for me, and the next time I feel like being good to myself I'll definitely be back to Nail Gallery. read more

Do not recommend. 1) She didn't smooth out the ridges on my big toe nails when she did the pedi; this is Pedicure 101 kind of stuff! I was willing to forgive this and figure next time I'll make sure to ask. But then: 2) Another chick started the mani and was very roughly and quickly cutting at my cuticles and the skin below them, until she drew blood. And then she couldn't get it to stop bleeding, and it stung! What was more annoying was, in addition to having a big scab on the edge of my cuticle for a while after, she shredded the cr@p out of the skin below my cuticles so I had little strands of skin sticking up that were very irritated for weeks after. Needless to say - after the shredding of the cuticles I opted agains proceeding with the mani. I do not recommend this place. read more

I agree with Kim! My girlfriend took me here for a pedi/mani last weekend for my birthday. We were contemplating going to Nail Bar, and I'm so glad we didn't (thanks to you yelpers!). Ok, so we were 15 minutes late, but no worries, we walked in and got seated right away. They were all smiles! No talking "behind our back", no nasty looks, just a great energy...felt bad about being late, but we made up for it in tips. Im not a huge massage chair fan, but their pedi chairs are great! The actual pedicure was the best I've ever had. the products and care she put into my feetsies was fantastic. They do this heal treatment that I've never had before. Splendid! On to the mani. They offered the paraffin wax hand treatment and I took it! Felt great. Manda did my manicure and what a doll. I could'nt stop laughing the whole time. It was great. Im so used to not talking during my appointment, but not here! We chatted the whole time. My fingers and toes still look great, and I'm a massage therapist so my hands get put through a lot! After Irina, the Ukrainian manicurist who'd been painting my fingers and toes for a decade, suddenly picked up stakes and headed to Pennsylvania in the middle of the pandemic, I took my hands and feet to a number of salons in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area...It would take six months of 2-day manicures, half-hearted pedicures and a few outrageously priced mani/pedis before I discovered Amy's Nails... And they really have it all: clean, professional service, a wide array of Opi nail shades, a friendly owner/manager and discounted weekday rates along with automatic hand warming (see other reviews for the proper name for this service) and hand massage, and--in a first for me--assistance getting back into your shoes or boots when you're ready to leave. The customer service was great and everyone was super nice but I wasn't a huge fan because of the following: My no chip manicure chipped in 3 days so I went back in to get them fixed and it was no problem but they only fixed the 5 fingers that chipped. Then the next day I had 2 more chip- very frustrating. I wasn't so sure about the cleanliness either. I watched them use tools and not clean or sanitize after. I also think it's kind of weird that they wear name tags with names that are clearly not their real names. read more

I came here just to try out a new place. It's very clean and bright and colorful place. I can't remember the girl who did my pedicure, but she was super patient in helping me pick out a color. It probably took me like 10 minutes. She did a great job, and I felt so relaxed. I forgot to grab a magazine before I started and the owner got me one without me even asking. To get me on my way, Ashley came to give me a manicure. They do paraffin waxes here for your hands and your heels. They also try to squeeze in a quick shoulder massage. I've been here a dozen times since it's close to my apt. My experience has been inconsistent, but generally good. I love that they use paraffin on your hands and heels. That's a nice touch. They also do warm stones on your legs, but sometimes they skip this step... The experience is very dependent on your girl. Sometimes I have a perfect experience. Sometimes I feel rushed out and my pedicure chips right away. Again, I've had mostly good experiences here. They are always very busy, but you can call ahead or walk in. Amy is always happy to see you again and I always feel like she remembers me and knows what I'm coming in for (I never make appts). Prices are reasonable. Staff is polite and I've never had to wait to get a mani/pedi, just walk in and you're good to go. The owner is also very nice. I got the no chip manicure a few months back and it ended up chipping in the first week. I went back that wk for a pedi and showed them my chipped no chip and they fixed in right then and there. Also Amy told me to come back in the next wk and get a new no chip mani free of charge. She explained that OPI had come out with a new product that they were using that apparently wasn't working and that was the reason for the chipping. I heart this place. A lot. I used to be completely loyal to Pinky's on Damen, but this place is cleaner, nicer and definitely more affordable! Pinky's pedicure=42 dollars. Convenient location and I am always able to get in. The mani/pedi combo is under $40 on Mondays and Tuesdays and that is when I usually go with my 8 yr old daughter. We have been regulars for years. I love this place! My friend took me to prep for my big birthday bash last weekend. We got mani/pedis. They were extremely accommodating to the fact that we wanted to sit together to chat and get primped simultaneously. I could tell they made special effort to accommodate customers in that way, it wasn't just us. It has now been a week and my nails have not chipped at all. The polish is still glossy and beautiful. They took their time to make sure all my small toenails were painted to perfection. My short fingernails look as amazing today as they did a week ago, despite traveling and partying over the weekend. I can imagine, as in any salon, the busier the salon, the more rushed the service. We went around 5pm on a Thursday, and it was not busy at all. I would definitely wait to go to Amy's during a down time to get the best service possible. I will surely go back when I am in the neighborhood again! read more

There didn't seem to be much attention to detail and I had to keep pushing the technician to ensure that my cuticles were tidy and the color was painted neatly on the all of my nails. I've been going to Nail Gallery for the past two years and I never complained about anything.. it's the busiest salon in Bucktown and they truly have the BEST service, clean and bright atmosphere, friendly staff and affordable prices. I highly recommend group appointments for special occasions. They recently purchased new furniture and pedicure chairs too! So I live in the West Loop area and saw the amazing reviews for the M-W special and made a trek out to Bucktown and what a treat, totally worth it! The atmosphere is relaxing, but not too quiet, and the nail techs aren't chatty amongst themselves and I think they do a great job of making you feel comfortable. For $38, the mani/pedi is quick but not rushed at all... somehow they've found that right balance. I think it's the little things (paraffin wax, knowing everyones names, quick massages, no pushy "extra $5 for this/that") that makes this place my new favorite nail place. The only complain is that it's not closer to my place, but that's my problem and not theirs! read more

Very impressed. This was my first time here and first time doing a no chip manicure. I must say, one of the best pedicures I've had in a long time, the leg and foot massage was wonderful. I'm a runner so it was nice when she massaged my achy calves! They use warm lotion which feels so nice. They also put a warm oil on your heels, can't really get better than that. The no chip manicure is great! Once I was sat down I got a little shoulder massage, a nice touch. The process takes a little longer than a normal manicure, but totally worth it. I was my hands on an average of 20 times a day (I'm in the medical field) and no issues with chipping. It's a miracle. I will definitely be back, thank you for a great experience ladies! read more

I have lived in Bucktown for 14 months now and decided with the snow and cold it is time to stop driving back to the old 'hood/ West Loop for my mani pedi as much as I love Nail Lacquer on Monroe and Morgan. So I read some reviews and went to Amy's. Two times now I have received 5 star treatment-once was a busy holiday party weekend Saturday afternoon and the other a cold ass Wednesday. The important point here is I had the same quality service both times (busy and slow). The staff is very nice and they even put your shoes and coat on for you when you leave. The tools and towels are clean and you get a massage, paraffin, hot stone, and a neck/back buckeye heat pad . Top notch. read more

Let me start by saying that I do not get mani/pedi's often. On a good year, twice, out of town on vacation,etc. I've lived in Chicago for about 8 years now and this was my 2nd mani/pedi... the last one was in April 2005...on my wedding day! After a trip to Amy's last week, this is all about to change, in fact, I'm about to pick up the phone and make another appointment for today. The staff was sweet as can be! So friendly and ridiculously adorable with my 7-year-old niece who was standing up in a wedding the following day. It was her first time in a nail salon and probably her last for a very long time, but they managed to make it incredibly memorable for her! Completely went above and beyond with her. Loved all the little extra touches..parafin, shoulder massage! It's been a week and my nails and toes are still looking great, I almost feel silly going back again already! Very friendly staff. My first time there my mani polish bubbled so I went back I got it re-done at no cost. Yesterday my mani smudged a little & today I got one nail re-done.
