Spring roll with vein still in shrimp
    Rob C.

An Vi feels like a restaurant with an identity crisis -- and unfortunately, it shows up on the plate. The menu reads like a United Nations summit: Vietnamese, Cajun, Chinese, and Thai all sitting together wondering who's really in charge. I came in with high hopes -- the online ratings promised greatness -- but what I got was a culinary shrug. The spring roll arrived with a shrimp still sporting its vein. I'm no chef, but that's not the kind of authenticity I was hoping for. Between our group, we ordered four bowls of pho, and all four shared one sad truth: the broth was flat, flavorless, and missing the soul that makes good pho sing. On the bright side, the rice dishes got high marks from the two lucky diners who went that route -- one with fried rice, the other with Cajun fried rice. Apparently, the wok is pulling more weight than the soup pot here. When a restaurant puts "Vietnamese" in its name, I expect them to nail the Vietnamese part. Sadly, An Vi missed that mark. I left disappointed -- and still craving a real bowl of pho.

Love An Vi! The owners are so nice and the food is delicious. I ordered a large amount of food and asked if they were able to package hot and cold items separately. I was driving this food down to my parents' party in sarasota. An Vi was very accommodating and all the food made it through the drive safely. It was all Vietnamese parents approved! Special rave for the banh mi. The best bread I've tried in central Florida by far. If you're looking for a great Asian spot north of Orlando, this is the place to be. Love all the decorations on the inside as well! Phenomenal authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a friendly owner and staff. The menu is expansive , offering a wide variety of options. They also have generous portions for the price. A great value that I will absolutely be returning to. The inside of the restaurant is spacious with ample seating and a comfortable updated environment.

I'm in love! I have been searching for a good vietnamese restaurant and have not been able to find one, until now! I am so sad I didn't know about this place sooner. However, I will now be a regular customer. They are going to be sick of me! The lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl was what I have been looking for. You have to mix it all up with their amazing fish sauce. Their fish sauce is better than at other restaurants! Other restaurants make it too vinegary or acidic, but not here. It is perfectly balanced. I like that they incorporate flavors from other cuisines here as well, such as with the Cajun fried rice. Why not? The perfect chewy texture of Vietnamese fried rice with spicy Cajun flavor. You can't go wrong! The summer rolls and the peanut sauce that come with them are also good. The passion fruit lemonade was really good. I was worried I wouldn't like it since I'm picky about lemonades and sweet drinks. But this wasn't too sweet nor too tart. The passion fruit made it perfect. It was not too busy when I went. The owners of the restaurant provided excellent service. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. Update: I went back and tried more dishes. The beef pad Thai was amaaaazing!!! Super saucy and flavorful, just how I like it. Not too sour or tangy, which is hard to find. I was surprised how good it was because the photos online didn't look that good to me but then this beauty came out!

Although the location is a little hiden beneath the 436-Red Bug Lake overpass, this husband and wife chef team has a great passion for Vietnamese and Cajun cuisine. They moved from Seattle, planning to retire in our sunshine state. Please see my caption for each photo. They currently open for dinner only Mon to Thu, and both lunch and dinner on Fri, Sat and Sun.

Wow what a pleasure! We wanted Vietnamese food and didn't want to go far. This restaurant delivers good fresh pho! The fresh rolls and vermicelli bowl were also delicious. Friendly and conscientious service. Just a pleasure for a relaxing Saturday lunch.

Picked up some to go Bun Bo Hue soup here.So good, I was feeling under the weather and this soup brought up my senses back. The broth and leafy greens like cilantro, green onions, bean sprouts and other fragrant herbs made it come alive. Loved the slurpy noodles to go with it too. It's said to be very spicy so they gave it to me as a side which was good because I added a bit and flavors popped out even more. Inside the broth had a very tender meat bone stew with the bone taken out I enjoyed every bit. Soup can feed two servings so it's a good enough amount in my opinion for the cost around 20 something. I would def come back to try more.

I hadn't been back to An vi vietnamese restaurant since their soft opening and it was time to see what they were fully capable of. We had a grilled pork banh mi which has a delightfully fluffy but crusty roll and juicy grilled pork. 3-meat pho with a quite light broth that still packed the lunch of those delightful warm pho spices. They use a wider, flat rice noodle and I believe it might be fresh? Not pictured were the fish sauce fried chicken wings that came out nice and crispy and perfectly cooked and juicy inside. The sauce didn't really stick to the wings though so a bit of chili garlic sauce helped amp up the flavor. Finally we had the house vermicelli special platter with a great selection of grilled meats and fresh veggies for a DIY lettuce wrap experience. The spring roll - while just a little side treat - was so flavor packed and lightly fried that I considered a to-go order. Excellent food, friendly service and great value for the quantity and quality (leftovers for tomorrow, woot!)!

I randomly stopped in this restaurant and glad I did! Although I ordered my food to go, the restaurant was clean and a nice place to eat. The server was very nice and patient as I ordered my food. The food was super tasty. I would definitely recommend!

We've had good experiences at An Vi dining in and doing take out! This is a new Vietnamese restaurant in the Casselberry area that has a Cajun take on some of the dishes. We've tried various things from the menu, including the soups, rice dishes, and sandwiches. My favorite is the Cajun fried rice. I love the flavors! The grilled pork and firecracker shrimp are also very good. No alcoholic beverages on the menu. Service has been great on our visits. They are located in a shopping center so you shouldn't have trouble finding parking here. It's also pretty quiet in the restaurant so it would make a good date night spot. Overall, there is something to eat for everyone. Glad we have this great new spot near us!

The interior Is nice, there is a little place that is good photo Op. when we went in, it was Sunday afternoon and it's kinda quiet. My husband ordered Pho and I ordered bun cha Ha Noi. I feel the bun cha Ha Noi is good up to par. It's not the same as where I usually get my fix but each place offers their own style and I was good with that dish. The pho was average. I was hoping for it to be more pho fragrant and just more beefy to it. But overall, it's worth the try!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting multiple Pho restaurants in Central Florida over the past year, and I'm thrilled to say that I have finally found my favorite spot for Pho! I decided to try the House Special Pho, and I was impressed by the fresh rice noodles, beef tendons, beef balls, and especially the delicious brisket that just melted in my mouth. Additionally, the chef surprised me with a small bowl of beef broth containing perfectly cooked, medium-rare beef flank steak slices that were also very enjoyable. The service at the restaurant was excellent, and I enjoyed the pleasant ambiance, complete with a large TV showcasing a variety of different shows. While waiting for my Pho, I found myself amused by the funny wall decor and sayings, which helped make the wait time fly by. I highly recommend paying a visit to this restaurant if you're in the area. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out other items from their extensive menu. I am not sure if it came with my order or its because I was special. (I am gonna think its the latter)

Tiny hole in the wall but once you're inside there is a very nice amount of seating, both tables and a barstool area to sit at. I placed an order and proceeded to sit at the bar area and wait for my food. Once it came out (super fast despite how many people were there), I understood why the sandwiches here are a little on the pricier side. The Ya-Mon which is jerk chicken, sweet plantains, pork rinds, jalapeno pesto, mango jam, gouda, jerk lime mayo, was heavenly. All the flavors blended in perfectly and the bread was so soft. The lime mayo was outstanding! It was about $16 and we'll worth every penny. The staff was super friendly and got everything cooked and sent out to each table very quickly. I will say if you come here during peak times, be ready to take the order to eat in your car or somewhere else because the tables filled up insanely fast while I was here!

I do wish their patio had more coverage though, great little outside seating area but often the sun is beating down on you and that sucks.

Today, though, I noticed them selling Japanese Wagyu as: Sake Infused Dry Aged A9 Kobe Strip. This is a very scammy way of selling a product. First, meat is graded broadly on three scales - USDA (choice, prime), BMS (beef marbling scale - common in Aus), and the Japanese grading scale. (A1-A5, with most high end steaks being A4 or the gold standard, A5). https://meatnbone.com/blogs/the-clever-cleaver/meat-beef-grading-system-understanding A9 doesn't exist. A BMS 9 could be an A5. But this is mislabeled. They have also used the term A11 in their instagram account. Maybe they are confusing BMS for A-scale, or maybe they are intentionally trying to make their product seem better than competitors. Furthermore, not all Japanese Wagyu is Kobe beef. Kobe beef refers to Tajima cattle raised in Hyogo Japan. The export of this beef is highly regulated to only certain restaurants and purveyors, who will display a seal and certificate certifying the origin of the beef. It is rare, expensive, and most importantly, Bush Brothers (Local Butcher's wholesale purveyor) is not certified to sell, nor do they use in any way, the term Kobe Beef. So it is incredibly likely that this product is mislabeled. This isn't illegal (Kobe beef doesn't have a TM in the US), but it is disingenuous. https://www.kobe-niku.jp/en/contents/certification/index.html https://instagram.com/bushbros Next, "sake infused"is incredibly confusing. Is it referring to the myth that Kobe cattle are massaged with sake? Is it referred to the use of koji (fermented cooked rice) which is often used as an aging accelerant? Or did they really take Japanese Wagyu and infuse (inject, soak?) with sake? And why on earth would you do that!? It would be like making sangria with a bottle of DRC. This product is likely a A5 strip loin (which Bush Bros. does carry) that has been aged. Market price would be somewhere around $175-185/lb. (An unaged cut would be around $150/lb.) When I asked for more information on the most expensive cut of meat in their shop, I was treated with disdain and a dismissive attitude. Neither member of the staff could answer my questions other than to say "It's the highest grade of Kobe beef." To charge $215 dollars for a grade that doesn't exist, for a steak that isn't from Kobe, with an aging method that seems dubious at best, is disingenuous and plays on a lack of consumer knowledge. If The Local Butcher themselves don't know the differences here, they shouldn't sell this product. If they do, they should be ashamed of themselves.
