We came to Anaba Sushi pretty late at night (an hour before closing). They restaurant itself is small and intimate. It was also the perfect setting to have date night with a sleeping newborn ;) We ordered the following: Tamago - I usually don't care so much about tamago (I'll pick a little bit off for taste before passing to the hubby), but you could tell how fresh the tamago was and I left less for the hubby :) Seared Black Pepper Tuna - if you've never tried seared tuna, it's a must. Anaba's seared tuna had a wonderful presentation and it had a great flavor profile Black Snapper Sashimi - amazing! The snapper just melts in your mouth. Definitely get it as an appetizer Super Philly Roll - generous amounts of salmon and they did not skimp on the cream cheese. They probably used a whole brick of cream cheese (a little too much for my preference). Spider-Man Roll - I'm a sucker for tempura soft shell crab and especially inside a roll. This is a go to roll of mine and it was prepared very nicely. Yellowtail & Ono Rolls - for simple rolls, you really can't go wrong with the classics. Both fish quality were very fresh. It's a small place with 4 tables and a sushi bar. My 5 year old loves salmon sashimi and was excited to eat some sushi. Place was busy but once again...there are 4 TABLES!!! Anaba has been a sushi stable for my husband and myself for the last 3 years since we've moved to Glendora. It's seriously a HIDDEN GEM in the SGV area. Since COVID, we have been ordering take-out from them at least once a month to satisfy our sushi cravings. The fish (salmon belly, yellowtail, and bluefin) is always so fresh--they always have special sashimi offered for the day with my favorite (hotate: jumbo shrimp)! The selection is reasonably priced as well. A small nuisance is to expect the wait time to be longer than normal since it is run by just two people (not sure if they are husband and wife) but they are super friendly! This place is small but packs a punch. the food here is amazing. if you don't mind paying for premium sushi then visit this spot. Not a lot of seating l, but thats ok with me, it keeps service a little tighter and more active. Large portions and big cuts of fish. they will make you custom rolls that are not on the menu and have blue fin tuna. read more

First off, they're only open for dinner right now and there's always a line but it's totally worth the wait. Every roll is delicious and no matter what combination, the flavors are fresh, innovative and different. This is real sushi made by a sushi chef who knows what he's doing. Here are my favorites: Harry Potter roll is baked crawfish basically on top of a California roll. Lemon roll is spicy tuna with a sliver of lemon, avocado, and fresh tuna on top. (The lemon sounds weird but it's really delicious and fresh) Spicy tuna on crispy rice is exactly what it sounds like, only topped with avocado. read more

I'd like to give a tremendous shoutout to the chef who not only shows outstanding skill but elegance in every plate he sets to serve. The environment in this small building is spectacular but most importantly ROMANTIC. The food was fresh as fresh can be and more. This is a small family restaurant. A definition of "hole in the wall". Richie is a wonderful chef. That said, he is the only chef and takes pride in his creations. Don't come here on a busy weekend and expect prompt service. Yes, when it's busy, it takes a little longer to get your dish. Be an adult and enjoy some appetizers and drinks while your sushi is being made. Richie doesn't disappoint. His sushi/sashimi are delicious and fresh. We try to come to this place once a week, usually during a weekday when it's not as busy. Service is excellent all around and we will continue supporting this small business because we need more quality places like this. read more

By far the best sushi I have ever had! The sushi chef, Richie, is so skilled and so friendly! The flavor combinations are so unique and delicious! On the weekend nights they can be very crowded, but trust me that is a good sign... it is ALWAYS WORTH THE WAIT! The fish is so fresh, it literally melts in your mouth. No wonder they are so crowded sometimes! But if you stop in on a week night, you can get all the flavor and none of the crowds. The BSCA roll topped with cooked scallops, the Hamapeno dish of yellow tail topped with thinly sliced jalapeños all drenched in ponzu, and the 911 roll are my favorites... so far! Best kept secret in Glendora. Everything is delicious! It's pricey but not your run-of-the-mill ayce mayonnaise bath kind of sushi. It's legitimate. I've been waiting for 40 mins and I've only gotten water and one soup for the 2 meals I ordered. The place is cute and I guess the staff is nice even though there wasn't any communication? But the wait was way to long. And there wasn't even anyone coming to say sorry for the wait or we are backed up. I had to get up and ask and she said our food was coming. But what seems to be happening is she's bringing literally one piece out of like 3-4 of a meal to us, to keep us here waiting for the rest. No one wanted to let me know that it was going to be longer even though I addressed that the people before us were barely getting food, so how long was it gonna take to get ours? I appreciate the recommendations from the waitress, and I appreciate her letting us know to continue to come just not on busy nights since it is a small little spot it can get crowded pretty quick. Our service was great, fast & the food came out pretty quick. So maybe try and take that same advice. We enjoyed some sake & beer a couple of rolls. This place is maybe 3.5 stars - good but not great. We came here on a Sunday night around 7:30 and all tables plus bar were full except a two seater. We were 5 and it looked like the two girls next to two seater were almost done. The waitress told us it'd be a 30 minute wait. Was a little over 20. The waitress was nice but she was the ONLY waitress for the entire restaurant. Granted it was a small place with 4-5 tables plus a bar, but still! There was also just ONE sushi chef and what I assume is one chef in the back to cook the hot stuff. We ordered a Kirin beer (they ran out of sapporo), waters all around and edamame to start. One cool thing was we asked if they had kids cups and they said yes. What they brought out were little to go soup bowls filled with water and a straw poked in. That was a nice touch. We got the spicy tuna on crispy rice (eh), the Jessica albacore roll (good but slightly fishy), the Friday Night Happy Roll - really delicious but my sister in law found a fish bone! (Had saw a Yelp review/photo about finding a fish bone before so I guess this is a thing?) Also got the mango salmon was which was tasty. The kids has the chicken udon which they liked but I thought was average. Overall a nice place - weird Chinese/Japanese Decore, nice but slightly slow service and decent but highly priced for what it is sushi. read more
