1 of the 2 Signature Pork Belly Tacos (2)

I do not know why there is not a line outside the door of this restaurant. Every bit of our experience at Anacacho was wonderful, from the quick, very friendly waitress, to the fabulous food, everything was wonderful. Our waitress was lovely. She was so friendly and did not miss a beat. Another waitress came at one point to fill our waters, she noticed it, and she complimented the other waitress and thanked her. To me, that is teamwork, and I love that vibe. The tables are smaller with some longer ones in the back, so we were barely able to fit 3 dishes on it, but the dishes are smaller but pack so much flavor and joy. We got the Big Red Barbacoa tacos, grilled skewers, and the Pork Belly tacos. With each bite I understood more and more why it was a James Beard semifinalist for best new restaurant this year. $9 a taco? Yes. And I would pay it again without hesitation. We enjoyed the pork belly taco the most, and what I loved is that we weren't chewing into a fat cap. This pork belly was tender, moist, perfectly seasoned and the slaw was perfect to cut through the rich pork belly. The Barbacoa tacos were also very good To Barbacoa tacos were filled to the brim with Barbacoa, and I loved the slight sweetness from the Big Red in the tortilla. I needed that pickled radish and the salty cheese to balance the meat, and it was delicious down to the last bite. The grilled skewers were also very good, especially the Wagyu, and I just loved how simple yet perfectly balanced the sauces were and how they complimented the meats without overpowering them. I honestly like the chicken more than the pork belly, but my kiddo ate that pork belly so fast I barely got to eat one! Perfectly crispy, not greasy, just a great end to our meal. We also got the Daylight cocktail which was such a refreshing cocktail during the day, tart and crisp and simple. I could drink that cocktail all day everyday! And the espresso martini looked divine, but I just couldn't have caffeine this late in the day. Anacacho was so good that we are heading over there now to grab some breakfast and coffee. Their corn tortillas were thick and strong and carried the weight of the inside of the taco nicely, and they have breakfast tacos that are calling our name along with some gluten free pastries too! The waitress was very well versed in gluten allergy concerns, and they also have a GF modified French Toast...yes please! Anacacho is a perfect place for some small bites, cocktails, and delicious food. The 3 dishes we got were PLENTY for all 3 of us to share and kept us full for hours. What an excellent experience! We cannot wait to come back!

Daylighter: Cucumber vodka, mint, lemon, & sparkling wine.

My friend and I were touring the St Anthony Hotel and decided to pop in here for a drink. The décor of polished wood, leather, terracotta accents, & vintage centerpieces make you feel as if you are in the living room of an upscale ranch house. The large chandelier and western murals are a focal point. The establishment has only been open a few months but feels like it's been here for decades. I had the Daylighter - a refreshing mixture of cucumber vodka, mint, lemon, & sparkling wine. It was prefect for a hot & humid day. My friend ordered the Bourbon King Old Fashioned and said it was exceptionally good. The servers were friendly and hospitable. They checked on us frequently to see if we needed anything. We didn't order food but the dishes that passed by looked good, and the fries with house seasoning smelled amazing!

Flew in around 3pm and my room wasn't ready. This was a great respite. I loved the Big Red Barbacoa and papas bravas. I wanted to stay for drinks but I had to meet co workers later. I wish I got the chance to grab a drink because their menu looked amazing.

Recommend: Yes Food: Had the corn, big red barbacoa tacos, and the carajollo. The corn and carajollo were soooo good. The pork tacos were good but not sure I'd have them again. I have never had Dr Pepper and Barbacoa Tacos and my initial feeling is that it tasted like a desert. Maybe it's an acquired taste? A friend had the vegetables and the aguachile and she really enjoyed them. Service: awesome service, very attentive. Ambiance: Small place, very intimate but really nice atmosphere with music playing in the back ground.

I stopped in for an iced coffee and opted for an iced mocha. Anacacho uses Pulp coffee (which is locally sourced). The taste of the iced mocha was incredible, however my cup was filled to the top with pebbled ice so there wasn't much coffee to drink. I would absolutely order the iced mocha again but will need to remember to ask for half ice. Breakfast ends at 11am. I'll come back another day to try breakfast here.

10-10-10 across the board! Beautiful spot! Service was excellent, food was even better!! The air conditioning was chefs kiss!!!! I didn't try any coffee but the drink I had was refreshing. The hotel is beautiful and worth a walk around the lobby. Definitely a place I would return to!

We came here to try it out and give this location another chance since it was no longer the night club/bar from before. We ordered two drinks the vodka espresso and the day lighter- we were told they did not have the sparkling wine for the day lighter- but they could make a cucumber martini. We saw the Bartender asking questions and looking up a recipe for the cucumber martini- and it still came out very clear and vodka forward. So much so that we only took about 2 sips out of it. The vodka espresso was the worst vodka espresso I have ever had. I had to ask the bartender for some kind of sweetener, ANYTHING. She gave me some kind of syrup which helped me take two more sips, but this was bad. If you want food possibly try this out, if you're coming for the drinks at the bar- this was not it. I would highly recommend that the bartender tastes the drinks before giving them to people, had she done that I don't think she would've served us those items.

NEW ELEVATED DAY-TO-NIGHT COFFEE & BITES IN SAN ANTONIO Guys be sure to add this spot to your must-visit list ASAP! The new concept by the great Chef Leo Davila opened its doors at the st anthony hotel and we're loving it! Anacacho's menu is carefully crafted with Latin American and Asian influences, while the space itself brings a timeless Texan charm. This one-of-a-kind place also proudly features Pulp Coffee and is open day to night, with a breakfast and all-day food menu, all delicious! Congrats Chef Leo on yet another amazing concept!

This is a lovely space, to relax and have a coffee, tea, a bite to eat, or cocktails! The service is wonderful and attentive. The space is clean and comfortable! The morning I visited, my goodness was a perfectly crafted coffee. Kudos!

Service was good, most of the staff were friendly, food was good, but the tortillas need a little help. If you're in San Antonio you should have some amazingly authentic tortillas.

It was amazing food! I was the lo mein, delicious. Very cute scenery for studying and a cute little date moment.

Great food and drinks and good service. Just loved the atmosphere. You can tell a lot of thought and love was put into the menu and the decor of the bar is very cowboy chic. I highly recommend that locals and tourist visit this place whether it's for coffee and breakfast or late night drinks and dinner.

So I went to Bar 1919 in Southtown, a tucked-away speakeasy-style bar. I'd heard it could be difficult to find, and that mystery is part of the charm. Once I stepped inside, I was struck by how polished and inviting it felt: low amber lighting, dark wood, intimate seating, and a quiet hum of conversation that made the room feel removed from the rest of the city. The atmosphere was elegant without feeling stiff. The dim light glowed against the bar, and the cozy layout made it easy to settle in. There was something satisfying about searching for the entrance and then emerging into such a carefully designed space. [NAME] took care of me, and the service was warm and attentive. I was there by myself, but I never felt awkward sitting alone. The bartender checked in without hovering and made the experience feel relaxed from beginning to end. He also made me a from-scratch cocktail. [COCKTAIL NAME/INGREDIENTS] The drink was beautifully balanced, with [YOUR WORDS ABOUT THE TASTE/QUALITY OF THE DRINK]. The aroma rose from the glass before the first sip, and the flavors unfolded gradually rather than overwhelming one another. It tasted fresh, deliberate, and carefully prepared. I also had [FOOD], and [YOUR WORDS ABOUT THE FOOD]. The dish arrived [DESCRIBE PRESENTATION OR TEMPERATURE], with [DESCRIBE TEXTURE, AROMA, OR FLAVOR]. Each bite added another layer to the experience, and it paired especially well with the cocktail. Bar 1919 was exactly what I needed that night: a small escape with thoughtful service, a handcrafted drink, and satisfying food. The hidden entrance gives it a sense of discovery, while the intimate setting makes it easy to linger. Excellent idea.

Great night, sky and cityscapes, but you're not facing anything that is particularly beautiful to look at. That said, the outdoor area of this sky. There is an outdoor seating area as well with views of downtown. We sat outside, so to order food you have to go to the inside bar. I ordered a mojito, veggie tacos, and the shrimp and artichoke dip. Found seating outside and vibed to the live DJ playing latin music. Food took awhile to come out but we weren't in a rush. The tacos weren't anything to write home about and could've used some spice. The chips served with the dip were crispy and light and yummy. The dip had a decent amount of shrimp and I enjoyed it. The ambiance is giving upscale lounge but the fact that there is no table service outside, it feels like a basic bar. Im not sure if there is table service inside. The DJ really set the vibe for the place. Im not sure if I wouldve enjoyed myself had the DJ not been there.

The food offered during lunch/dinner is pretty good, but I do wish there were more expansive options. It is odd that there is not one tv at their bar (in case a hubby wants to watch a sports game lol) but I get it's not the vibe. Their brunch is ok but the price is not worth it. It's over $30 if you want the meat and things like cereal , bagels , and juice. Half the price if you only want the basic cereal yogurt and bagels. I would not recommend the brunch to anyone unless they are strictly going for the view. The view and vibe are stunning. The daytime vibe is much different than the nighttime so I highlyyyy recommend going for dinner and drinks. Make a reservation because it gets crowded. The coffee bar that's there early in the morning , which is probably more for the hotel guests because it's not open for long, was kind of a let down! I had the kindest barista that was easy to talk to. However half of their menu wasn't available because there was no matcha and apparently there hadn't been in weeks which is so unfortunate. They have tons of potential and have the right staff, so hopefully they fix that soon!

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)
