We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio where the steady cool breeze refreshed us. The small appetizer plate with falafel and hummus was my favorite part of the meal. The falafel were flat and oblong, crispy and flavorful. I appreciated the texture of the hummus and babaghanoush (hearty and chunky, rather than smooth). The lamb adana and chicken Adana were delicious as well, complemented with pickled purple cabbage, red and white rice, and roasted green chili pepper (caution--spicy even if you remove the seeds!). Love love love this place. First night in Brookline and walking to Whole Foods for supplies, we saw two big families leaving here looking happy and sated and rubbing their tummies; so after our shopping we came for dinner right at dusk, and immediately sat outside. Our server Bahar was so kind and helpful: I have a dairy allergy and really wanted to try the Ali Nazik, but the lamb marinade has dairy, we we got the Sultan's Delight (same smoky eggplant puree with baked lamb). We also ordered Chicken Adana, and the small appetizer with falafel and hummous; all to share for 3 of us. Our fourth got the Iskender Kabob for himself. Bahar first brought a bean salad (so fresh and light) and bread (yum). Then the appetizer: the falafel was flat (not spherical) which meant the surface area of crunchiness increased--so delicious; and the hummous was much grainier than I've had, which gave it such a lovely texture. Bahar came out with the Sultan's Delight, and rushed back apologetic that the chef used dairy today, so we ordered a second appetizer with babaganoush and falafel (we really needed more falafel once we got a taste)--the babaganoush was, like the hummous, grainier in texture than we were used to and so pleasing to eat. If it weren't for my dairy allergy, we might never had ordered the chicken adana kebab, which was so flavorful and lovely: the orange rice was so nutty and made my mouth happy. We realized that we wanted to try the Lamb Adana Kebab, which had such a phenomenal flavor palate with a nice spicy kick. This is a nice cozy spot in Brookline Village, just next door to Blossom Bar. The mixed grill and a lamancun is more than enough food for two people. The hidden gem in the whole experience is the basket of fresh bread and the small plate of white bean salad that comes to the table after ordering; the bread is steaming hot from the oven, and the beans and vegetables taste really fresh. This place feels so nice when you can enjoy the food in their outdoor seating during the warmer months. I no longer live near the neighborhood, and wish I had a place like it closer to where I now live. read more

There is outdoor seating and a decent amount of indoor seating. It is spacious inside, but the night that we went was empty (Thursday night). Where this restaurant loses points is the service. Unfortunately, our server was very difficult to work with on getting our orders correct. Multiple times she got our order wrong or forgot what we got and had to come back to the table to get the order again. Additionally, when the food was coming out, she was giving it to the wrong people at the table (party of 7 in an empty restaurant) and 2 of the plates came out very late compared to the others (about a 15 minute difference). This made 2 people feel left out eating with the rest of the table. When the 2 remaining plates finally came out, one of them was the wrong one!! At that point, we already shared our food with the other 2 people and they weren't even hungry anymore and were frustrated. Overall, service was very slow and confusing. Our server was nice, but she either needed more training or attention to detail. Considering we were the only customers at that time, this was a very surprising experience. read more

I was going to go here in person because I thought it was an all you can eat buffet, but when I called ahead of time to confirm after some confusion with not being able to find a buffet price on the website, the person who answered the phone confirmed that there is no all you can eat buffet at this restaurant. That was a little disappointing, but I was still in the mood for some Mediterranean food so I decided to order delivery instead. I got the Lamb Shish Wrap with Babaganoush for $11.95, which was a great price for a wrap with a side! Lamb Shish Wrap: The pita was a little on the dry side and the entire wrap was also a bit skinny, but there were sizeable chunks of lamb in the wrap with tomatoes, red onion, and lettuce. The lamb had good flavor and $11.95 for lamb alone is a pretty good deal, so this is definitely worth it. Babaganoush: This had some nice flavor and added some needed moisture to the wrap. I alternated bites of the wrap with this and it ended up being an amazing combination. Really nice texture and taste on this one! In addition, the menu didn't say it but this meal came with a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onion, and parsley with a nice olive oil based vinaigrette, which was a nice surprise. The salad also added a nice freshness and burst of flavor to the wrap. All around, this is a really great deal for $11.95. You get a good amount of food and everything complements each other really well. While there were individual things with the wrap that could be improved, the meal as a whole is a really good value. I will definitely be back and try some of the other items, although I am quite sad that there isn't an all you can eat buffet here. read more

We ordered catering from this restaurant for a party we were having. They were helpful guiding us as to how much food would be needed and what options would be gluten free. The food was ready when it was supposed to be and they were incredibly friendly and helpful in getting it to my car. All of the food was DELICIOUS. The hummus was fantastic, the chicken kabobs were perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the grilled vegetables were wonderful. Our friends all wanted to know where the food came from and we were happy to recommend it! This is a somewhat under the radar restaurant in the heart of Brookline village. What reassured me is that the wait staff were actually all Turkish, as were many of the patrons. This restaurant specializes in northern Turkish cuisine and was recommended by one of our Turkish friends. We tried a bit of everything, but the highlights of the meal were the Ali Nazik Kebab (listed under main entrees), the stuffed cheese phyllo, the lamb kebab, and the Ezme. If you like smokey roasted eggplant, the Ali Nazik Kebab was one of the best versions of eggplant I've ever had in my life! All my dining companions tried to eat my dish as they also loved it too. It's a smokey eggplant base with sharp garlicky flavors topped with juicy chunks of lamb kebab. The contrast of the creamy base with the tender meat was just incredible. Lahmacun (sort of like Turkish pizza) was fun to try too, not sure if I would get it again as it was a bit dry for my taste, but others seemed to love it. This is my first time trying Turkish food. I could not remember what I ordered but I was surprised by the presentation! The rice plate came with sliced lamb wrap and seasoned rice with a flame in middle of it. The food was tasty, the staff were friendly and provided recommendations on what to order. Never ate much halal food before but this was one of the most amazing food I have tasted. The meat tray was out of this world. Maybe the chicken wasn't super amazing (it's chicken, it can only taste so good) but the lamb and beef might have been one of the best I've ever had. To be honest, I didn't really know what I was eating, just everything in that meat tray was outstanding. I'm sure if you show them the picture of the meat tray they can tell you what meat it was but 100% recommend trying everything but maybe the chicken. The menu prices seem steep but they give huge portions. I ordered delivery through Uber eats and got the mixed grill entree and lahmacun pizza . I really wanted to try their bread because of all the positive reviews but couldn't find it as an option on the app. I ended up just asking for the bread on the side. The mixed grill ($32.95) came with chicken shish, lamb shish, lamb adana kebab, kofte kebab, doner, rice, bulgur, carrots, onions and parsley, fresh tomatoes, and grilled peppers. The portion was suitable for splitting between two hungry people or even three people. The adana, kofte, and doner were super flavorful and not overly salty. The chicken and lamb shish had awesome flavor but were on the dry side. The restaurant gave me 2 breads and the bread was so fluffy and soft. All the veggies were super fresh and the bulgur was tasty. I would order this again. The lahmacun pizza ($5.50) came with parsley, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and lemon. The bread was flaky and flavorful and everything tasted very fresh. This could honestly be a meal on its own if you're not super hungry. We came here for brunch one day and ordered a few things off the menu. We liked the fact that the meat options here are halal as everything is made with turkey meat. The mezze is just an egg with cucumber, tomato, and olives, and I would skip this unless you want something light. The Turkish omelette as well as the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich here are quite tasty. Nothing extraordinary though, just a nice place for a bite to eat outside. We shared: -The stuffed grape leaves- I usually don't order dolma, but these I enjoyed! -Stuffed cheese phyllo- feta & diced dill wrapped in phyllo and fried. Worth it even if you're sensitive to lactose... -Iskender Kebab- we were deciding between the Doner and the Iskender, and I have no doubts that either would've been delicious. In this iteration, the Doner is served atop of bread with a tomato sauce and yogurt on the side -Dessert: Kazandibi - delicious milk pudding, slightly burnt/caramelized on the bottom, with a date sauce The portions were very generous and it was more enough to leave feeling stuffed. The food at Anatolia's is normally very flavorful. We had a sample platter with babaganoosh, grape leaves, stuffed eggplant and stuffed filo. The platter was very good. We all had entrees: falafel plate, doner, Adana and kebabs. The hummus and eggplant salad were very good and fresh. Oddly, the babaganoosh side dish was different from the stuff served in the platter. The side was bitter. We all thought maybe the eggplant got burnt for the babaganoosh. Disappointing they decided to serve it. Our sandwiches were excellent. We had leftovers and asked for boxes for our leftovers. When it came time to pay our bill, we found a charge for the boxes and sauce cups for our leftovers ($1/box, $1/cup). I have never seen a restaurant do that before. Very family oriented place, with great customer service. We went during Ramadan, so a bunch of groups were coming for dinner after sundown. It was really sweet- they had a whole special dinner for the holiday. There were dates, stuffed grape leaves, and fresh feta as an appetizer, then you could choose a soup (the lentil with a squeeze of lemon was delicious), 2 entrees, and a dessert. We got the lamb shank and a white bean and beef dish- which was awesome. You got a side with that as well. We got the rice, which was tasty, but the salad also looked great (it was a kind of chopped up tomato Mediterranean salad). I've been here a couple of times, once for dine in (pre- COVID pandemic) and once for takeout. The sandwiches are delicious. I have tried the Izgara kabob sandwich and chicken Adana kabob sandwich. Both are delicious. The bread for the sandwich is fresh, soft, and tasty. Sides are usually salad, hummus, or garlic sauce. I have tried better hummus but it isn't too bad to pair with this sandwich! This place is heaven! Amazing oriental food - from someone from that area. Great variety and quality. Whenever I miss home, I visit Anatolia and I get transported. Highly recommend.
