I'm not sure if I haven't reviewed this in the past I've been going here often and on more than 20 years recently back to the area. The last couple years have been quite a few times better than even when I was younger. It looks like the sons have taken over the business and deathly done some upgrades inside and with the streamlining of how the place runs. Very reasonably priced you get a lot of quality homemade Greek inspired cuisine that I really love their salads are phenomenal. Everything they cook is great. They have great service. All the staff is very attentive. It feels like you're having a home-cooked meal. I would recommend for everyone located with so much parking around in Watertown Square behind the CVS or right on the street. They deliver as well. Demos in Watertown was really disappointing. We ordered two gyros, one lamb and one falafel, and the total came to about $30. The falafel gyro only had two small pieces of falafel and it was very dry. The tomato in it tasted old and not fresh. The lamb gyro also tasted old and not very good. One of the best Greek restaurants in MA! There was so much on the menu that I wanted to try and the staff let us completely customize our meal so that we could try a bunch of different menu items! They were super friendly and accommodating. The food was outstanding especially the spanakopita and shrimp skewers. Great portions too! Tonight we decide to grab takeout at Demos, a Watertown staple for many many years. The restaurant is clean and very quiet even though there were a half a dozen people eating in. My order of one chicken skewer and salad, and two chicken skewer dinner with rice and salad was ready when I arrived. Salads come with dressing on which makes some of the lettuce look undesirable but overall the salad is good. The dressing is oil based and ok but not my favorite. The salad does not come with pepperoncini and that stinks. The rice is very fresh. It was light and fluffy and flavorful. The chicken was better than I remembered. The chunks of chicken were large and the chicken was moist and tender. There were a couple of bites that were tough but most pieces could be cut with a fork. There was a nice char on the chicken which added to the overall flavor. Demos is very consistent and always a great place to grab a quick meal. read more

I went there last night with my girlfriend for the first time. The service was A++, the guys behind the counter were so nice and greeted us as soon as we walked through the door. The food was amazing, we love Mediterranean food. Their food is the best we've ever had. Today my salad was romaine and mesclun. It wasn't the iceberg that I have loved for the 31 years I've been coming to this place. The food was still great. This salad was fresh but it wasn't the salad that I thought was famous at Demos. I understand that the owners might want to 'class it up.' I've been getting take out from here for years. A friend referred me, and they have been going there for years as well. Both of us live promoting local businesses. Back then I ate meat and always got the lamb chops, now vegan they still can satisfy my needs. Ordered a grilled veggie sandwich in a pillowy soft pita. I'm sorry but this is some of the worst takeout, let alone Greek food, I've ever had in the area. I ordered a salad with gyro, the salad was completely wilted and inedible. The avgolemono tastes like a cup of hot water that may or may not have had a lemon placed in it. I ended up throwing everything out except for the side of tzatziki. I am Greek, so I know good Greek food, And Demo's is the perfect spot if you are craving Greek. The inside of the restaurant is updated and beautiful. Demo's offers a wide range of choices, however, I always get the chicken souvlaki with rice and Greek salad/pita bread. Manny was great and so was the rest of his staff. I called him at 10:45am to prep and cook for 30 people. He double checked my order and made sure I got everything I needed. Helped me pack the food into the car and and had everything ready in about 1 hour. They have top notch service there. The rice and rice gravy was terrific. The lemon potatoes were soft and flavorful. The green beans were tasty and still had a nice snap from it. The pita was solid especially with the sauces he gave us. The skewers were absolutely phenomenal! Chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. The steak blew us out of the water though, nicely seared from the charcoal grill with the perfect amount of seasoning. Haven't been here in a while because I did not like the ambience of the previous place but since they have totally remodeled the entire restaurant, it looks absolutely great! Of coarse I ordered the lamb shish kebab that came with two skewers and a side salad and a plate of rice pilaf that were absolutely perfect. The lamb was perfectly cooked and pink in the middle and not too salty. Prices were very good and actually I got more here than another place in Watertown. Walking into Demos I was having much higher expectations for what I experienced. Understanding they have come off of a remodel, the decor is nice and aspects of the meal were good but so many other misses it killed the experience. For my salad, as simple as a greek salad is they seem to not be able to hit it. A lone cucumber, a single olive, a wedge of tomato with a ton of iceberg lettuce and enough onions is NOT a greek salad. It has feta, but after about half a plate of it I decided to let it suffer in peace. The gyro had some high notes, but also so many lows it just overall made it a meh. The lamb itself was good, but then they pile in a ton of bland mediocre fries. A gyro doesn't need fries, and why you add bad ones is beyond me. You could have given another piece of lamb and I wouldn't have noticed. As for tomato there wasn't a lot and given the quality of the tomato I guess I understand why. But sure they love their onions here. If there was lettuce I couldn't tell. Yet there was an abundance of tzatziki which by the end became a pita with just onion and sauce I couldn't finish. Looking at pictures of the chicken, and even the lamb from the gyro, Demos looks like it can do some stuff well. But at least the things I seemed to get served were not able to meet any of it. I would like to give it 3 stars but I honestly can't say my meal was even ok. So a 2 star meh is what you get. read more
