With the limited outdoor dining season in our area ~ we are always happy to find a restaurant with al fresco dining. When you enter there is a large dining area and the bar is off to the right. Patio was heavily shaded which was perfect. There were TVs mounted on the wall so I am sure they would put on any sports game that might interest you. The salsa served with the chips was not spicy so I was able to enjoy it. Varied menu but, to me, rather limited. Once we placed our order it seemed to take a very long time to get our food. Which was fine as we were not in a hurry, but those seated after us seemed to get their food in a regular amount of time. My husband enjoyed his fish tacos. I had the chicken quesadilla which was not to my taste and, next time, I would try something else instead. read more

Our waiter was what was to be expected and checked all the boxes. He even helped with a minor mistake (our fault) without hesitation. The food was good, but we were not amazed by it. The ambiance is typical but nothing overly lively. The seating and decor: exactly what you'd want (quantity-wise) - bring anyone or everyone! If you have a meal here you'll leave having felt you ate but your life wasn't changed, you had a good time but not the best time, and you appreciated the effort but weren't wowed. Cassidy was amazing! My mom and I stopped by for a later dinner. It was my mom's second time, and my first time visiting this restaurant. I loved the whole ambiance - decor on the wall, big fun signs, it was a great vibe! We got 4 tacos each, sides of their rice, and the margaritas!! They have an amazing selection of everything, it was almost hard to choose from the variety! They have a flight of tacos that I really wanna try, with a bigger group. Like I mentioned earlier, Cassidy, our server, was amazing! She checked on us throughout the meal. We didn't have any issues, and she really made sure we went home happy. My husband and I stopped in for a drink during happy hour and thankfully for us the place was fairly empty. This was on a Monday around 3:30pm so it makes sense as to why it wasn't crowded. Service was consistent and great. Our server checked in on us the perfect amount of times and didn't hover. Ancho and Agave is beautifully designed. I really like the touches of blue from the couches and the numerous and different light fixtures they have. We decided to sit at one of the couches which made me feel like I was at a lounge vs restaurant. My type of vibe. We both got margaritas. I tried the prickly pear and the signature. We had a really great experience at this Ancho and Agave. It was a beautiful day outside and we were hunting for a patio to enjoy. It just so happened to be happy hour, too - what a great combo! Margs on a patio...say less. As we didn't eat or drink anything off the happy hour menu, this is solely a review for that. We ordered a prickly pear and strawberry pineapple margarita, taquitos and enjoyed some chips with guacamole. The margaritas were good, on the sweet side, but good. I wonder if they're all that sweet or if it depends on which flavor you order. The taquitos were much better than I expected and a large portion of four for $5. The guacamole ranked high above average with the perfect balance of lime and salt. Salsa had a roasty flavor and I'd categorize it as mild. Service was kind and attentive from entering to exit. I was seated at the bar which was packed as well. My hostess came right over and filled my glass up with ice water. I didn't have to wait long in placing my order. Ancho & Agave is a fairly new addition to the Yorktown area, so after seeing a few glowing reviews combined with a craving for Mexican, I grabbed an Uber from my nearby hotel and made a lunch date with myself out of it. Ancho & Agave are Tex-Mex inspired and have all the classics from tacos to nachos, enchiladas to burritos, and a few things in between. The vibe in the place is energetic with lots of windows, bright artwork and decor, along with neon and lit signs through out. The food was okay, a bit overpriced for the quality. I went with the birria tacos that were sided with cilantro lime rice and refried beans. The tacos were well prepared, but the meat and consommé were lacking the spice I am used to. The rice is bland and the beans were beans. Additionally, I got queso to start my meal and it was also lacking in flavor beyond the cheese. There were pickled veggies, but the actual dip was forgettable. Relating to pricing, my lunch of queso, birria tacos, rice and beans with a water cost me close to $40. Overall, while the atmosphere was pleasant, the hype behind the place was not in line with what I experienced. I may have a different experience collectively as a larger group, but my singular experience would not bring me back on my next visit to Lombard. read more

First off, the space is beautiful. Really well thought out and decorated, I loved the design and lighting. The outdoor area looked like a nice spot to hang out on a warm day. The staff was warm and welcoming and our waitress was nice. Unfortunately, the food left a lot to be desired. I should have known from the salsa, which was bland. The rest of the meal followed suit. The was a mix up and my husband received a burrito bowl instead of a burrito. We were able to get it fixed, but it was the saddest burrito he's ever had. The mole sauce on my enchilada was good, but the carnitas were mushy and just not very good. The drinks were okay, I had sangria and my friends had the seasonal cocktails. They didn't love theirs. Overall, they need to work on their food. I had the Chicken Asada Burrito made Chimichanga style. It barely had any meat and was full of rice and beans. Flavor-wise, it was a bit bland. However, the queso was good. Another guest had the Stacked Nachos. It was okay but a bit challenging to navigate eating. My jalapeño margarita was spicy but I didn't taste the tequila. My parents and I came here for an early dinner and to check out this location recently because they're getting a new one in Naperville soon. Happy to report, the food was awesome and the service was super friendly (shout out to Rashad, our awesome waiter). It's like elevated Tex Mex; I had a delicious pork belly quesadilla with a sherry glaze that was just amazing, but still had some yummy chips and queso!! My skinny margarita also packed quite a punch; often those are a bit light on the booze. Went here for a friend's celebration with a group of 12 and had a great experience. There as some similar concepts with upscale Mexican cuisine nearby, but I feel that this one addresses some of the issues i had with the other restaurants -- which were that they were too crowded and loud, and the menu isn't very interesting. Ancho & Agave feels much better spaced out, with more comfortable furniture and plenty of outdoor seating. It also feels much easier to park here and I didn't have trouble hearing others, despite the entire restaurant being full of diners. I also found the pricing here to be fairly reasonable, given the better than average food options, though the value for each dish seems to vary a bit as some items are definitely larger and provide more food than others. The food here was overall very good from start to end, starting with the tortilla chips and salsa. The chips themselves were fried nightly with a good crunch and the salsa has a good earthiness and consistency to it. The different tacos I tried were not the meatiest, but I did like the presentation and distinctly different flavor profiles to each one. In particular, I enjoyed the smoked pork belly quite a bit, which had a good level of fattiness and was quite tender. i found the pork al pastor to be quite interesting, with the extra bits of pineapple adding an extra level of sweetness to the dish. I would've preferred a bit larger chunks of pork however. Another interesting mix I enjoyed was the chipotle crema and pickled onions on the carnitas tacos. This overpowered the flavor of the meat a bit for me, but was still enjoyable. The birria was very good here, even without the consommé it had a good level of savoriness, particularly in the quesadilla preparation with a good helping of cheese and crispy tortillas. This is probably one of the best versions I've had in the suburbs and would gladly order it again. The desserts were also great. The churros come in a very generous portion size with caramel, vanilla, and berry sauces. The iced horchata coffee comes in a very large glass with a nice balance of horchata to coffee and nice balance of cinnamon. The triple chocolate brownie was a big surprise, with a delicious hot fudge brownie, delicious fried plantains, a very creamy roasted banana ice cream with a very natural flavor (I don't think I've had any particularly good banana ice creams, except this one), and a delicious dulce de leche sauce to tie everything together. This dessert like the others is also quite large and can be shared amongst 3 people. Overall, delicious meal in a comfortable more upscale setting. Service was good, food was delicious, presentation was very nice. I enjoyed my visit so much I'm already making plans for a return trip to try more of the delicious sounding menu items like the cabo calamari, chile lime fajitas, tres leches cake, and more! read more

I really loved this restaurant! The decor is so beautiful and the restaurant is large so there is plenty of seating. It does get pretty busy though so I recommend having a reservation. We really liked the margaritas and guacamole. I wasn't the biggest fan of the salsa as all of them, except the corn/bean was pretty spicy. The tacos all were excellent! The food is something we will come back for. The service left things to be desired. The place is now our spot for Mexican. First you walk in and it's fresh and not gimmicky. It's got a modern flair for the ambiance. Starting with the staff Reyna our waitress was extremely attentive and showed a very positive attitude while serving. Are there many other places to get cheaper, more 'authentico' Mexican food? Yes....but: My wife had been here and wanted to show it to me. She was relieved that the MRI she had just completed was less stressful than she thought it would be....We were both famished and this was a bit after 2pm. I give very high marks to the woman who was our server and I lament that I forgot her name! She was prompt, efficient, and checked back on us perfectly...not pushy, but seemed to genuinely care about our dining experience. (Note: It was practically empty, like 4 tables and 2 people at the bar. Delightful ambiance, large and spacious with high ceiling --airy, friendly, and bright! Cost: A Dos Equis Ambar and a refreshing sangria and 4 tacos (2 pork belly, 1 carnitas and 1 crunchy shrimp) and a yummy Key Lime pie dessert special came out to $61 total which included a tip that was about 23%. The complimentary chips and salsa were a great start. The salsa was not spicy but interesting. Pork belly taco were yummy, shrimp tacos had shredded cabbage and pineapple with a unique tangy flavor, but didn't feel real Mexican. My wife liked her carnitas. We scarfed everything down, even asked for more chips. A very good filling lunch experience that my wife said "...felt like a mini vacation." Ancho & Agave has been a much anticipated addition to the Lombard community. Their new location has a huge indoor dining space, large bar, and what looks to be a great warm weather patio. I visited on a Friday afternoon with friends and had no troubles getting a reservation time. Our group got a variety of drinks throughout the night. I thoroughly enjoyed the Signature and Cadillac Margaritas & others enjoyed the Piña-Rita but the Skinny-Rita and most flavored margaritas fell flat. We started with the Guac Trio trying out the Piña, Señor Hector, and Hickory Bacon and Goat Cheese options. The Señor Hector Guac was by far my favorite having a slight sweet note from the corn. Close second was the Hickory Bacon and Goat Cheese Guac. The table also gets a complimentary chips and salsa serving. For entrees, I ordered a couple of their vegetarian Street Tacos: Sweet Potato, Cauliflower, and Avocado. The Sweet Potato taco was by far my favorite and I would skip the Avocado taco next visit. I also shared the Fried Plantain and Mexican Street Corn side with a friend and loved both! Everyone in our group very much enjoyed the food! The only true struggle we ran into was turnaround time. When we arrived, the restaurant was not crowded and items came quickly. As it filled up more, there were large delays from the bar getting drinks to our table. Through the struggles, our waiter Arsenyl was WONDERFUL! He was such a warm personality, made us laugh, and we truly felt taken care of by him. 1st time here. Right on the outskirts of the mall. Was with a crowd of 23 set at different tables in the same vicinity so it was nice. Nice decor, good lighting, modern farm feel. The service was solid, could have been faster but they were very busy. Even had outdoor seating. Meal starts with complimentary Chips and Salsa. Chips were above average and the salsa was tasty, a bit of a smoky taste 4/5. The chicken tortilla soup was really good. Good flavor, good amount of chicken. 5/5. And for my entree I got the steak fajitas. 3/5 sadly. Meat needed salt wasn't that flavorful. Everything is ala carte as well had to get side of beans and rice. Did pinto instead of black. Nothing great about it, they were just OK. Overall the ambience might be better than the food. And in this case the friends made the meal. What a great find. The salsa on the table is absolutely a top five for me - not too hot, so flavorful, and house made. So good that it brought me here for a second dinner. First night I had an assortment of street tacos. I'd suggest skipping the cauliflower (poor battered fry) and squash (a stick of squash: no). I had a few other oddities like the Chinese style chicken which was fine and tasted good as well as the fried chicken, also fun tasty and spicy. The second night I went for the taco salad. Again, another top five. Plenty of avocado, chicken, absolutely well constructed and plenty to eat. Good parking and seating inside and outside, the fabulous Nuevo Mexican place has any adult beverage you might want and plenty of mexican style sodas and drinks. The waitress was efficient but not warm. We tried the guacamole with pineapple and pomegranate seeds. It was good. It looks like the guacamole may be all the same with added toppings based on which type you get. The chips were fresh and the salsa was a strong roasted style that we enjoyed. We split the fajitas (steak and shrimp). It is only fajitas with no sides included. I believe it was $22-23. The flavoring was good, especially the shrimp.
