Who knew Anchor was is in Frederick? We didn't. My wife, a Buffalonian born and raised and we've both been to the original Anchor Bar in Buffalo dozens of times so we had to check this location out. In the door we noticed the place was clean and had a very warm and cozy vibe but had a sports bar atmosphere with plenty on TV's to watch a sport of your choice. The staff was super friendly and the menu has all your favorites. Our server was Nicole who was actually amazing in every way, very sweet and attentive to whatever we wanted. We ordered a small pizza, The special which was ribs and a side, we chose Cole Slaw and of course wings (Original). The pizza was very good, had Cup n Char Pepperoni which is what I expect from a Buffalo bar/resteraunt. The only thing is it could have stayed on the brick another minute or so to crisp up the bottom more. The Ribs were dynamite, perfectly cooked with a slight char on the bottom. They were fall off the bone with an amazing smoke flavor. The Cole Slaw was awesomeness as its how we like it, sweet and creamy. Now, drum roll, the wings, cooked wonderfully to be juicy and saucy but...yes but, could have been a little crispier but, they were great. We live 50 minutes away and will travel to come back. Our first visit an we were certainly satisfied. We ordered 10 medium wing and buffalo dip. My wife, who's not a big wing eater LOVED them. The best she's ever had. The medium sauce was perfect for her and good for me. I could have gone a little hotter. There a a number of levels and as we watched more orders we realized we could have mixed sauces. Next time. My wife loved the wings by the dip was even better. If Anchor Bar was closer to us we'd be regulars. The service was great and wait time seemed normal. Stopped at Anchor Bar for late night bite and drinks after running errands. We wanted something low key, and glad we decided to stop check them out. We got there around 830pm and they were pretty busy. We grabbed two seats at the end of the bar and we're greeted by the bartender pretty quickly. I opted for a long island, which is very unlike me, but I really enjoyed it. Since we weren't really hungry we ordered and shared the buffalo chicken nachos. They were pretty good, but could've used a few more chips since there was still a lot of queso left. They seem to have a lot of options on their menu, so i definitely plan to stop by again and order their pizza or one of their sandwiches. Anchor Bar is a sports bar and im sure they get pretty busy during football season. But I can see why a lot of the locals enjoy it. Overall, good experience and would definitely go back. read more

We really, really like this place. We've been twice and both times it had a great, high energy atmosphere. There seem to be several locals that tend to hang out at the bar, but that doesn't prevent the wait staff from being attentive to everyone else. The pizza is really good and they're obviously known for their wings. The wings, both boneless and traditional, live up to the hype. It's a great sports bar, with plenty of TVs in the bar area and the dining room area. We met the owners on one of our visits and they really seem to take pride in the place. Sat on the patio for 15min. No one came by. No one at the door to assist. Bar backs were clueless in help and making of drinks other than pour and service taps. No button no drink. Wings were raw... again. So freaking gross. Rubbery and gross. Friends got food poisoning from Anchor Bar before from eatting raw wings, but we gave it another try. I ate one and hope I don't get sick. I will never order wings again from Anchor Bar. As a side note, the wings also had zero sauce on it. Seen that happen nearly everytime we've gone. Had to ask for a little side of it, but ended up not eatting them even though we paid for them. They only comped our friends. The burgers were also all over cooked and the crab pretzel wasn't great. I doubt we go back. Before the wing complaint when we asked for ketchup the waitress got annoyed and listed out other items we should ask for at that time. We used to love Anchor Bar, grew up in Buffalo so it's been a long time of loving their wings! Still do but their customer service is non existent or at least it was for us. We ordered beer and an orange crush along with wings. The orange crush was bad, cheap orange juice I guess because I asked for Tito's vodka. I told the waitress I didn't like it, and she said ok. I asked to get something else but she said that was against policy and one of the floor manager agreed. So lose a customer over $3.00 worth of liquor??? If they aren't allowed to do that, then offer me a dessert or something on the Josue to appease the customer. Then they burned one of the two hot dogs we got, so badly it was backed and thick, not char broiled but burned. The waitress apologized and couldn't believe how bad it was. She took it off our bill. So they do know something about customer service I guess? Just so disappointed in the way they handled things. We eat out quite a bit and have gotten a drink I just didn't like the taste of and have always been allowed to change it out. I don't do that often, I'm not an obnoxious customer, but when you're paying so much for a drink you want to like the taste. I was alittle skeptical because they were a chain restaurant but they win best wings of Frederick year after year so I thought I'd give em a shot. I was pleasantly surprised they were actually pretty good! Not many places can't get dry rub down and theirs were pretty good! The wings are a decent size and cooked well but they are pretty expensive I got a bucket of 50 and after tax it was around $75. The service was fast so I would probably come back but I do believe there is better wing places in town. read more

We hadn't been here in a while and decided to go again last week because we passed the restaurant and saw the sign, "Vote Best Wings". Upon pulling up to the restaurant we notice the best wings sign was three years old. Although the waitress and staff were very friendly the wings weren't great. Sure, they are big, but they definitely should have been cooked longer, as they seemed rubbery and undercooked. The two different sauces I had weren't great either. We did like the number of tv monitors with sporting events. This made for a nice eating experience. read more

To be honest all we've really had here are the wings over 3 visits and truly they are amazing. The Buffalo is great. The garlic parm is probably the best we've ever had anywhere! Well, the food was good. At least the food that was correct was good. A grilled chicken sandwich was a grilled cheese. Except it was ordered as a grilled chicken. So, that error cost them a star. The loaded fries were awesome. Fried pickles were pronounced yum. Philly Steak egg rolls, yum! Overall, the error cost them one star. The food was quite good, so they are on our go-back again list. I experienced a clear case of discrimination based on ethnicity at the Anchor Bar in Frederick, MD. As soon as I sat at the bar table, the server, instead of asking what I wanted to drink, asked, "Where is your accent from?" Some dreams don't come true. I recently traveled through Buffalo with my family and was disappointed that we didn't stop at the original anchor bar for buffalo wings. I thought I had a Mulligan while traveling through Frederick, MD and saw that the anchor bar was open for lunch. I could barely contain my excitement. The service was decent, although maybe a little bit detached. The restaurant was clean and had buffalo sports teams as well as local sports teams paraphernalia posted throughout, petty cool. My wife, children and I all ordered buffalo wings and shared an order of French fries. We were all disappointed. So much so that we ate around 3 each, plus all the fries and decided that we had enough and box the remaining wings to go. As we continued our travels and got to our destination we placed our leftovers in the refrigerator and that's where they stayed. Once we were preparing to leave our holiday we decided not to continue to travel with our leftover wings. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I didn't. Food terrible. Service ok. My spouse stopped in for wings with a friend and brought some chicken fingers home for me. The wings were decent, though the chicken was dry, and the service was good. The problems grew with the food they made for my take out. We ordered their "signature" chicken fingers. The first thing I noticed was that the chicken smelled almost burnt. When I bit into it the chicken tenders were also dry. The fries were mediocre at best. The only plus to my meal was the honey mustard, but even their "anchor sauce" was gross. It tasted like some kind of crab dip but it was terribly greasy and not that good. We have been to anchor bar many times and have always loved their wings. The last 2 times we ordered fried pickles for $12 and literally got like 6 pickle slices. The first time we brought it to the waitresses attention and she quickly apologized and brought a few more (we figured it was just a fluke). Today, when we asked about the portion, a manager came over and literally said "our portion size is 8oz so there's really nothing I can do." I just want to say that I absolutely love how many options for the wings there are here. You can get them with different dry rubs before they're fried, you can get all drums or flats, cooked well done for extra crispy, and a ton of flavors. I ordered original buffalo medium (all flats, of course ) and the Soup of the Day (chicken pablano). The soup was absolutely fantastic and didn't come from a can. Chunks of chicken and amazing flavors dominated my pallet. It kind of reminded me of a chicken tortilla soup. The wings were amazing as they were served steaming hot. I love that they came with a bowl to put the bones in while you're eating. The wings sauce is SO good and full of flavor. The service was outstanding and I absolutely love the decor. On the walls they have local sports jerseys framed and Bills memorabilia everywhere. The bar is also very spacious and great for game day. Don't let the crowd deter you from watching a game there. We should definitely speak with the individuals who were seated with us and around us, as well as the waitstaff who witnessed the events unfold. It's crucial to note that the police were called even before our incident due to the establishment being overcapacity and issues. There were serious concerns, including a drug exchange occurring in your restroom, which speaks to the type of patrons present that night. It was not the police who allowed those individuals to leave; it was your management that chose to let them go. If we were truly the aggressors, you would have instructed those patrons to remain so that a police report could be filed. Your team was aware of the potential trouble brewing due to the excessive alcohol being served to the real aggressor, who then turned aggressive towards me. It felt as though there was a complete lack of control over the situation at your establishment. Patrons were even seen standing in the road of parking lot drinking alcohol because there was no room for them inside, which is unacceptable. Did you see the same aggressor attacking his wife /girlfriend earlier. I bet not!!! That is because this place was out of control. Let's be honest: if my husband had assaulted anyone, he would have been detained, and charges would have been pursued right then. We did not leave and filed a report at that moment because my husband had visible marks on his face. HOWEVER , because you did not detain them we had no names to give to police. We have pictures of the marks on my husband. As a customer, your ability to review the video raises questions. We asked for police to review video and told no. So how was a customer?? Perhaps you need to take a closer look, as the man in question was indeed pushing his chair back to block my path. His girlfriend or wife was repeatedly urging him to pull his chair in. He was not only verbally abusive by calling me a "fucking cunt," but he was also physically detaining me against my will. I urge you to consider the facts before making any public statements. It might be wise to re-watch the video to gain a clearer understanding of what occurred. As I believe you are the manager, who mishandled since you say you reviewed video. it's your responsibility to handle situations like this properly, and I intend to forward this information to your corporate office for further review. read more

Some of the coolest things I have to say about here at the bar. It's a sports bar through and through!!!!
