My boyfriend and I had wanted to come here for a while because we love wings and the original Anchor Bar is the home of the original buffalo wing! Well, they have buffalo wings but so many more flavors: we had to try a bunch! We got the original (medium buffalo sauce), garlic Parmesan, loganberry chipotle, and hot bacon pepper jam. Overall, they were all amazing! My least favorite was the garlic Parmesan just because it was a little more garlic than I would like (overwhelmed the Parm) but my boyfriend liked them. The original were good but tasted... just like a buffalo wing, which I guess is the point! My favorites were the loganberry chipotle and the hot bacon pepper jam, and if I had to choose I would pick the loganberry: nice blend of sweet and smoky. We also had pretzel bread sticks with queso as an appetizer which were yummy. Our waiter was busy but kept a good eye on us and answered our various questions. We went here for the first time today as part of our "6 dates for 6 years" tour. We brought the munchkins with because our oldest has been wanting to try it. We went on a Sunday at noon and it was near empty. No complaints about that. It was very fast to get a seat. They sat us at one of those round booths with the squishy seats. The kids loved it. They had a kids placemat snd crayons. Theres a kids menu as well. Kids got spaghetti and mac and cheese and liked it so much the oldest said they want to eat there for every meal forever. Hubs and I had a hard time choosing as there were so many good sounding options! In the end we both got the buffalo chicken wrap - Mine mild, his with the medium. I very much enjoyed it. I wanted the buffalo flavor without the heat (nailed it) and he loved the medium but said it didnt seem to have as much heat as hed expected so if you're a mild gal like me you could handle the medium here! I got tater tots (crunchy, well seasoned, took what was left to go!), he got fries (hubs and kid approved). My only complaint was that the floor was very sticky, which, I get it's also a bar but it was near opening time so I didn't expect the floors to feel that way had they been washed at close. Our waitress was kind, fun, and friendly! Great service! Talk about a Buffalo NY find in the burbs! Greeted immediately by a friendly smiling host. The building is a that "home" feel of the original in downtown Buffalo. We had the Buffalo Wings which were on point. Then we went to the Beef On Weck, beef is good. The bun didn't quite hold up to the way they do in Buffalo & North Tonawanda NY area. Was nice to have Labatt on tap. We sat in the bar area itself great views of the Buffalo Bills game, plenty of Bills Mafia there!! Our server/bar tender was super sweet. I've been in search of a place that serves that upstate NY specialty, "Beef on a Weck" and lo and behold, the inventor of chicken wings, the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY has started expanded, and there's one in the distant suburbs of Chicago. An hour's drive for me, but we went, and ordered the beef sandwich, really nothing like the NY ones other than the bun. In NY, it's freshly cut rare roast beef. This one was more like Arby's. We came in with a group of 8 on a Friday night! It was busy but we were able to be seated right away which was nice. Very casual bar ambiance. The restaurant is brand new so I think they are still finding their footing. Everything felt new and clean. They had some slot machines in the corner as well! TONS of televisions and plenty of seating. Service was very friendly! We tried the cheese curds and pizza logs for appetizers. The cheese curds were decent, pizza logs were unique. They were pretty much egg rolls with pizza cheese and pepperoni inside. It was your average bar food. The fries were underwhelming. Loved the tots though!! The burger and chicken tenders were just okay. The others at our table that ordered wings liked them a lot too! Let me start by saying, I lived in Buffalo for a year and the Anchor bar is by far the best wings ever. So, I was excited to see there was one here. I wish they weren't. The owner, by the lack of responses to any social media comments I've looked at before leaving this review, clearly doesn't care. This is the most honest and hardest revue I have left. This place is sad. There's a great prideful location in Buffalo, and then this place that doesn't care about anything except buying the name. Just go there, you'll see. We went on a weekend, we had 20 wings and a beer each. With tax and tip it was over 70 dollars. That's ok, this is the anchor bar, just wait until you get your food, it's going to be great. Nope, the wings came with hardly any sauce. I'm being nice, they were basically plain. I found out on my next visit, this is common when busy. I was told, the cooks don't care when it's busy and they just send things out as fast as possible. Ok, that's fine, but not if you're charging almost two dollars a wing. We didn't complain, just asked for more sauce. It took at least ten minutes to get a little cup. The wings weren't even warm, so we just took them back to reheat and eat later. As you can see in the pictures, after we sauced them, still no sauce really. But everyone has a bad day. So, I went back for lunch. While there, the owner was walking around drinking something and the server said, I never call off. But two days ago I woke up and was puking everywhere. I called and said, I can't come in. Then yesterday, I got up, tried chicken broth, threw it up, then tried yogurt after sleeping, threw it right up. Then I had some apple sauce, that stayed in. But today, I'm feeling great. This wasn't something we asked about, nor cared to hear. Completely out of nowhere. So, the wings did have sauce on them, but who wants to eat while their server is talking about throwing up the day before in detail. We had eaten here a few times when it first opened. As my original review said it wasn't good. After a year away and hearing good things, we tried it again 10-4-'25. The hostess made sure to seat us where we could watch the game of our choice. Our waitress Madison was very busy but never let our drinks run dry. Anchor Bar is the classic, the original, THE place to get buffalo wings. If you like wings then you must try this spot. Granted, I think they are still working out some new-opening kinks but we had an enjoyable time. A small (6 people) group of us went for a late-dinner/snack one night and had our sights set on one thing: wings. Well, beer too. After meeting our waitress and placing our drink orders we quickly decided that we were going big: a Bucket (50 wings). Naturally we had a majority flavored with buffalo (medium) but, honestly, we all agreed that we'd go a step hotter next time. We also had the Honey Bourbon BBQ and come char-grilled. The BBQ was good but the char-grilled is the way to go! Everyone agreed they were the most tasty. Overall it was a pretty smooth operation. It didn't feel like it was firing on all cylinders but we did not experience near any of the service problems that other's wrote about in their reviews. The wings were good, though toned toned down from typical wings you'd get in Buffalo. In buffalo medium wings are hot, here medium wings are on the milder side, still good flavor and the blue cheese is excellent. The beef on weck is ok at best.
