Always had a very good experience here overall, except for the last visit, Mon Aug 16th. We requested a table outdoor, gave host my mobile #. 10-15 min wait, no biggie, 20mins later, no text, host says we texted you, I never got it, repeats my # correctly...funny, all other hosts texts came through. After we were seated in a rear section, very noisy table, I politely requested to be seated at the front table, near the sidewalk, quieter - I was told it's already, "taken"? Why a party coming after us, gets "table previdence" over a party that's already been seated, I'll never understand. Any other restaurant has always obliged. Manager came by, told me nothing they can do? Really? How about listening to your customer simple request, and simply seating them at the next available table in the area they requested instead of seating everyone else arriving afterwards, putting them in the better sections. Makes no sense at all. Food & service are fine . Also, I guess they had no problem with a guy Vaping away, in one of their sidewalk tables. My boyfriend and I were THRILLED to choose this wonderful restaurant as our first dinner outing since the covid outbreak. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and kind (despite having to wear masks in this heat!), and the atmosphere was great. But the food... the food was incredible!! Appetizers were delicious, fries and salad yummy and our sandwich & wrap entrees were delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. We went for happy hour, overall we tried the onion rings (a bit oily), chicken sliders (small pieces of fried chicken dipped in sauce), fried pickles (recommend these), pirogues, and brats - pretty much the Happy Hour bar menus. Decided to eat dinner here after the beach because it looked nice from the outside. Loved the outdoor seating so a party of three of us asked to sit out there. We were put in a corner in the blaring sun and immediately knew it would ruin our experience. We asked the waitress if we could move a nearby umbrella over just to block the sun and you would've thought we asked to build Rome in a day. Eventually we moved inside because it was a terrible seat and our time went up from there. Mussels diavolo were super small mussels but what they lacked in size they made up for in flavor. Got the house salad with shrimp added and it was so good; fresh, clean and left feeling full but not gross. My friend got the BLT and it looked so amazing I wish I asked for a bite @brynn - the speciality margarita was also so amazing it had pomegranate and prosecco ! Now things aren't so smooth after the fact. When we paid, we asked $37 be charged to the card. In fact $57 was charged -- while the server was decent, that is way too generous of a tip. read more

Food ok, I got the steak salad that didn't have much flavor, service was good, but the hostess' need to get their act together. Arguing in front of customers on who gets a seat now or later looks extremely bad on the business. When you have a restaurant on a Friday night with open tables and you still push people out the door telling them ins a half hour wait but then behind you you'll seat the next walk in customers with no wait time looks really bad. Although my salad was ok , my friends dinner was over spiced , after he had asked for it to be mild . What turned me off was the fact that the salt and pepper shapers were filthy outside. They were best used by 10/21, which is OK as salt does not go bad, but they were dirty and stickly and I am quite sure that they have never been cleaned. With everything that is going on with Covid and awareness to safety , one would think that they should be cleaned between guests or at leasts every day. Take if from me it has been months since these were cleaned. ( or the person before us had really dirty hands ) We were told that the inside ones which are not disposable are cleaned once per week ...... Yuck ... Sat at the bar with a friend for lunch. We each got cheeseburgers and fries and share a small plate of shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits was tasty although I felt 4 shrimp was a bit light. Burgers and fries tasted fine. The bartender left a lot to be desired. Nice enough guy but inattentive. Bar was not crowded but it took a bit for him to help us and then we waited 15 minutes for our checks as he was busy shooting the bull with another customer. After several visits here over the past few months I'm dropping their rating a bit because of the overall food value. And lets face it the food is the single most important aspect of any restaurant operation. As an example my chicken pot pie last night was fail with it's piece of grilled chicken bone in covered by a goopy filling and chewy crust. I arrived with a guest about 530pm on a nice Wednesday afternoon and the hostess escorted us to our table and gave each of us a menu. As we were waiting for our waitress to take our order, the food servers were delivering some good looking plates to other diners. At 545pm I asked one of the food servers if he could take our order. He apologized that he was unable to do so and I heard him tell to our waitress that we were waiting. The waitress walked past our table and did not even acknowledge us. As a matter of fact she ignored our table as she passed by several times! At 555pm, my guest and I stood up and left our table and we were approached by a female who I would call a manager-want-to-be. She made every excuse in the world why the waitress never approached our table in the 25 minutes we were sitting there even to bring a glass of water and advise us she would be back to take our order. I guess the manager never heard of teamwork. She apologized profusely for the waitress and made no attempt to convert unhappy customers to happy customers! I gave one star because the food that was delivered to other customers looked delicious. I would give zero stars for service! read more

By far one of the worst Dinning experiences I've ever had. I gave one star bc the ap doesn't allow you to give zero. We waited for a table and then ... I had to send back an appetizer and the rest of the food was a solid C. The service was terrible and our waitress was training so I guess they were training more poor service. Overall I was very impressed with my dining experience here! Right off the bat, the staff recognized and catered to my elderly grandmother who uses a cane to maintain balance while walking. The outside hostess kindly directed us to an alternative entrance with a ramp and the inside hostess asked us our seating preference automatically ruling out high-top tables. Our waitress was very friendly arriving with popcorn for the table as she asked for our drink orders and the service remained prompt! My family of 4, including myself, were all pleased with our lunch. With moderately large portions and 4 beers, our bill total came to about $75 which I thought was very reasonable! Although my Anchor Burger was overall tasty, I asked for an add-on of avocado which arrived as a tiny brown mushy sliver on the top. As the avocado-lover I am, this was a big disappointment to me. Also, this place was very loud for a late afternoon and a lot of projecting/almost shouting had to be done to converse at the table. My Father and I have been going here for the past two years. We spend almost every weekend in Belmar. We are fully aware of the 90 minute limit. But when there are no people waiting for a table, the servers themselves will tell you that you can stay past the time limit, which we have done many times. Today around lunch time our server informed us that there were people waiting for tables and we replied no problem, used the bathroom and started to walk out. Then the recently hired new manager named Brendon, who seemed like a nice person, walks out with us and asks, which way are you guys walking? I wanna walk and have a talk with you. Then he goes on to say....what's the deal guys?? What's going on?? Why are you here so much?? As if he's a therapist of ours. He claimed servers were complaining about us staying too long every time we come. I replied, that we always make it well known to whoever's serving us that if there's a wait to tell us and we'll pay our check. Then he says....well you know young servers can be timid and they've complained to me about it, and besides you guys took for ever to leave after you paid your check, (which is because we used the bathroom before we left). Then he goes on to say...I could see if you guys were spending $400 here but your not and the waitresses have to make a living. REALLY?? we go here every Friday night through Sunday night!! I can't imagine how much money we've spent here, and long before he has even started working here. But the end of the conversation was what we found the most troubling. He ends it by saying....well for you guys to be here as much as you are is just really awkward....basically saying that my Father and I are losers and have nothing better to do then come here all the time. We both were extremely insulted by this comment, and we really hope the owner of this restaurant reads this and gives Brendon a little lesson on how to talk to customers and how to give suggestions. read more

This is a go to for my husband and I. We live in Belmar and we're never disappointed here. The wedge salad (with steak) is awesome. The steak is cooked perfectly. We also get the burgers, have tried the chicken cordon bleu (amazing), the Ruben and roasted chicken. (All different visits) :) now that we are trying to eat cleaner, we are never disappointed with the salads. They are delicious and fresh! The servers are always so sweet and friendly! read more

Not sure if it was due to sitting near the bar but there flies everywhere to the point of exhaustion from swatting them away.
