For our appetizer we ordered the chicken quesadilla and the chicken tasted terrible. the chicken wrap I ordered for my main course really wasn't impressive either. Despite how bad the food was, our server was very polite and offered to take the appetizer right off our bill when she saw that we did not enjoy it. The Anchor Tavern has been morphed from Connolly Station, which was a Belmar mainstay for many years. I believe it was remodeled in the past year and new owners took over. Post Labor Day, The crowds are not too large in the dead of winter. We decided to have dinner and enjoy some libation on Christmas Eve. Not too many establishments were open at this time which is somewhat surprising. Our server, Jordan, went through her routine very nicely. We ordered an Ahi Tuna sandwich, lobster Tacos and a chicken salad sandwich. I loved the Ahi sandwich and was told that the other two orders were excellent. Libation was in the form of beer. I feel the beer menu should have been a little more localized. The staff in general was very polite. The restrooms seem very clean. Had Not been to the Jersey Shore in years- even though i live in NJ! Took a drive to Belmar/Bradley Beach to go fishing early in the morning. Weather was so Warm for late October! A local guy walking his dog on the Beach told us about Anchor. We sat Outside on patio which was clean and beautiful. And we had the best Lunch! We have Not been dining out much due to Covid, but Anchor felt safe and was so clean. Service was great and Food was absolutely Delicious!!! It was such a treat to dine out and to eat some fried food which i had not had in 8 months. Everything was home-made Not Frozen and So Good! Will go back for sure and wont wait so long. Food was very mediocre. We ordered the fish and chips, which was fatty, and the Kobe burger, which didn't even taste like a burger and felt like a Burger King patty. For the prices there the food did not meet our standards. Also, the drink cups were really small so you continually need refills. Vegans and Vegetarians be aware they are not properly labeling their menu items. Brussel sprouts are cooked with bacon although does not state on menu. Had to unfortunately figure that out the hard way after having ordered them and eaten some. Their magical fix to this? Taking the $1 up charge for the side off the bill. ONE DOLLAR. I'm glad me accidentally consuming meat that your establishment improperly labeled on the menu that made me feel absolutely disgusting and sad was worth one single dollar to you. Came here one summer for appetizers after spending a day at the beach. I just got an order of wings for myself. I was really pleased with the wings. They were really saucy, spicy and the meat was tender. We sat outside during ~golden hour~ and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I'd love to come back for happy hour or for a complete dinner experience, preferably when the weather is warm so I can sit outside again. Also noticed that they often have live bands play. I was brought here again. I really wanted to like it. The chicken is small and dry. I think if you make a lot of chicken it would be better. I suppose the the kind of bird they use might need a little tweaking of the handling to creat a juicer item. They do not serve a chicken that i will buy. So i order a roast pork Cuban.. I foolishly expected pieces of roast pork. I got a deli style meat. I have never seen roast pork cold cuts. I did not want a sandwich made with cold cuts. Service and Ambiance were amazing, went there today. Got a chicken wrap, everything seemed to be good. however later on in the day, (today) I started feeling a little under the weather. My stomach was cramping, hurting and gradually grew worse over time. I tried showering, massaging my stomach, drinking water, drinking ginger ale, which seemed to calm it. I tried to recall everything that I did within the past few days leading up to today that possibly could've made me feel this way. But I haven't felt anything like this until today. I am experiencing SEVERE stomach pain, extreme and frequent bathroom use, hot flashes, feeling like I could throw up, loss of appetite, and occasional dizziness or headache. Horrible! Been here for drinks several times and today put the mark that I won't come back anymore! Paid for an over priced sprite and Ice instead of my vodka sprite. Grilled cheese with bacon and bacon was burnt, hubs got the short ribs grill cheese which left a lot to desire. Friends ordered the southern chicken sandwich only thing some what decent! Bathroom left a lot to...zero paper towels insanely hot and dirty! Bartender and servers need to learn a smile and customer service goes a long way. We started with the BarVarian pretzels; something I typically steer away from at restaurants because the pretzels never meet my expectations but these we're on par! Horrible! We visited yesterday during the parade. We had our 4 year old with us so just wanted to run in and buy something from the food kiosk they had. They made me pay the $10 cover to run in for 5 min and buy 2 over priced sandwiches. Then when my 4 year old needed to use the bathroom I asked to go back in (since I already paid the cover) so he could use the bathroom and was told no. I will never patronize this place. I called and spoke to the manager Brendon. He told me I should have had the person at the door come and get him so he could rectify the situation. Anyone with a young child knows I didn't have time to do that. I had to get my child to a bathroom. A lot of the reviews on here mention the unprofessionalism of the staff. Formerly known as Connelys, it's been revamped for a much younger beach town crowd. With beautiful outdoor porch seating and bar. They have a very reasonable happy hour 7 days a week from 11:30-6 on weekdays and 11:30 -5 sat/sun. I have only been here for happy hour cocktails and bar snacks which is usually pretty laid back. I have also been here for a family birthday. The food for parties is only buffet style here with trays like buffalo wings, beef/gravy, mashed potatoes, muddled and salads. The staff all was working very hard with a smile on their faces. The menu is completely different then when it was Connelys so old timers such as myself don't plan to come here thinking it's just a new name is a completely new restaurant. read more

I had an enjoyable dinner here! I ordered a salad with beets, goat cheese, baby greens and candied walnuts. The walnuts were super sweet and really good. The best part of dinner was the beets. The beets were fresh and outstanding (and I'm Pennsylvania Dutch, like Dwight from "The Office" so I think this qualifies me to appraise the beets). I ordered a side of broccoli with my salad, and it wasn't cooked for a long time (no fault of the chef, I just have a personal preference for over-cooked broccoli) and I asked them if it was possible to get broccoli that was softer and they were very accommodating and nice about it- which I appreciated considering it was only a $3 side. This place also had all sorts of interesting coffee options. I didn't try any because I don't drink hot coffee, but such a wide range of coffee selections is cool and unexpected from a tavern. Followed the COVID-19 protocol, some of the outdoor seating is a little too close to one another but when we asked to be moved farther away from people they were accommodating. The food was awesome.
