Stopped by &pizza around 9:30pm on a Saturday because a sis was hungry and I was in the area. Walked and was greeted...cool. The pizza maker behind the counter was sweeping and then proceeded to put on gloves...no bueno. I kindly asked her to wash her hands first and she obliged without an attitude. She was really pleasant after that and walked me through the first steps of making my pizza. I asked her about olives and she let me know that they would be after my pizza was cooked at the end of the line but they were out at the moment. I was a bit disappointed and wish they would put a notice on the door or right before you order but cool...I'll make it work. Get to the end of the line and they are out of a bunch of stuff...no olives, no pickled onions, some of the sauces were out. I feel like the end of the line is what makes the pizza flavorful. I had no desire to eat a bland pizza. I left pizza-less and hungry. Sigh. read more

All of the build your own pizza places are the same. The problem nowadays is that online ordering makes things difficult. You will be standing in line and make an order, then there will be some random online order take precedence over yours. Something needs to give a little bit. read more

Didn't expect it but, &pizza - Brookland is certainly rather darn cool. Honestly great value for the price. Every thing that I have already tried has been rather flavorful. Staff are really helpful and service is very quick. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Took my wife to try &pizza and of course it didn't disappoint. I love this place! The idea of having a custom made pizza to-go is just beyond me!! I was going to order one of "the hits" but decided to make my own: tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, pineapple, salami, tomatoes, and banana peppers on the side. I finished it all in one sitting. My wife ordered the Farmer's Daughter and liked it a lot as well. We will definitely be back!! read more

Since there are a million &pizzas in DC, I figured it was better to try it sooner rather than later once I moved here. As someone who has traveled quite a bit, it's interesting to see how many cities have copied this idea. &pizza has some specialty pies to choose from, but the good news is that pizzas here have a flat price of $10.25/pizza. I ordered the Farmer's daughter with a few added vegetables and garlic instead of hot sauce. The quality of the ingredients are pretty good, and the veggies tasted very fresh. The meat was also much better quality than at eateries of the same idea. The price was fine, although, if you are coming with a group, it would be cheaper to go somewhere that does whole pies because it adds up per person. I will say that I am unlikely to return unless I have thirty minutes to blow because this place is SLOW. I cannot imagine all of these people talking about great customer service because 2/4 employees I interacted with were rude. I walked straight up to the counter to place my order, and it took 30 minutes to get to the cash register. I'm sorry, but really??? There was no structure to the way they filled orders, and they started getting out of order. This was a weekend so imagine weekday lunch rush while school is in! Eek! Came in. Got a pepperoni pizza to go and a fountain soda. The format was simple enough. And they were like 6 people ahead of me but I felt like it took forever to get my food. The soda machine says all natural and natural sugar and no corn syrup. Idk what drink I got but was way too sweet. I couldn't finish it. The pizza I ate had sat for several hours before I ate it. Night shift nurse problems. The pizza was ok. Nothing amazing. I did like the thicker cut pepperoni but other then that forgettable. $13 for a soda and mediocre pizza. Not again. read more

Karisa's review is hard to follow. I came to this spot and left thoroughly impressed. I sampled several of the pizzas (spicy food lovers go with -Kissed by Fire) and left very pleased. The staff was very friendly, prices were reasonable, and pizza and mozarella was delicious. It can get a little crowded inside, but very soon they will have outdoor seating making this a prime location for lunch or happy hour. Another &pizza location off the list. Not that I'm collecting pokemon monsters, but this would be my 5th &pizza location through the DMV area, and the service rocked! Example 1: we printed out a piece of paper on instructions on four different pizzas, and they followed it with ease and efficiency. 2: they asked if I wanted them to switch gloves, since they had touch cheese and I asked for soy cheese. 3: they cooked my pizza perfectly with all of my favorite ingredients (1/2 spinach pesto, 1/2 roasted garlic puree, spinach, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, falafel crumbs, italian sasuage, pepperoni, meatballs, 2 scrambled eggs, sundried tomatoes, arugula) Pro tip: the garage across the street has 30 min free parking, if you can't find a spot on the street. read more

Oh I get hungry thinking about this place. I'm in here too often because the food is so good and the staff is so nice. I love how they are so patient with my indecisive kid. Once she figures out what she wants, they're super quick with getting the pizza out. Granted getting two individual pizzas is kind of pricey, so worth it. We've eaten here several times and typically, aside from being very slow, we are happy. The food is great. HOWEVER, DO NOT ORDER A PIZZA WITH EGG ON IT. We tried last night and, while the rest of the pizza was perfectly cooked, the egg was 100% raw. The whites were still completely clear and that's not safe to eat. We got take-out, so we didn't notice until we got home, but we had to toss parts of the pizza for food safety reasons. Runny yolk = good, raw white = very real problem. read more

I love the &pizza chain, but this particular location has the worst customer service. The staff is inconsiderate and incompetent. During every visit, my orders have always been messed up, somehow. Whether it was a burnt pizza, missing topping, or most recently, a signature salad without the bread because, as the staff explained, "we don't have the mechanism to create the side bread." This was followed by a sarcastic "sorry to deprive you of bread, ma'am". I had no clue how to respond to that, especially as I was watching dough bake right in front of me. Very good food, creative. I got the farmers daughter and enjoyed every bite! My boyfriend got the maverick and it was also delicious! As everyone likely knows, I love &Pizza and could eat it daily if I didn't need to fit into my jeans! This location is typically one of my favorites in the city, not only because of it's more efficient layout, but because the pizza just tends to taste sooo delicious. I came during lunch, and unfortunately, they were not equipped for the lunch rush and ran out of ready dough. Further, the assembly line just seemed to be all out of whack and efficiency just wasn't there. I'll attribute this to the lunch rush because usually I'm in and out. I found a new love in my life and it's &pizza. I've been to several locations -- all experiences have been great, and the people incredibly friendly and efficient. Each time I've stuffed my face more than I should, but it's hard to control yourself when you get your very own, fresh pizza! I've devoured: - Gnarlic - tasty and cheesy, just be prepared with mints/gum afterwards - Kiss & Fire - an interesting flavor with the strawberry balsamic. This is by far my favorite &pizza to visit! It is rarely crowded and there is available parking, neither of which is true of the city's other locations. But what is true that this is the best fast food in the city! It's pizza so let's start at the bottom-the crust. The offerings have been reduced since it first opened but you can't go wrong with either of the two choices: regular and grain. (I prefer the grain) Unlike many other pizza places, there is a choice of sauces, each with enough flavor to stand on its own. These distinctive sauces definitely add a strong flavor to the pizza that you'll notice immediately in comparison to the basic sauce of lesser pizza joints. There are a great selection of toppings and you can load up on as many as you like without paying per topping. Staff generally go easy when spreading the toppings but feel free to ask for extra. Unfortunately there isn't a selection of cheeses for you cheese-lovers (sadface). The portions are fair for the price. It's large enough to eat on its own and be full, even on the drunkest of nights..but small enough to consume in one sitting, which keeps it firmly in the "fast food" category. Only con: this pizza does not age well. Unlike your favorite cheap pizza, this will not taste anywhere near as good tomorrow. So enjoy it tonight! read more

It's like chipotle except for pizza! Pretty good ingredients and variety and for some reason they let you crack an egg on your pizza. I don't know how but it works. The only complaint is that I ordered one of their dessert pizza and I didn't get it for like 5-10 minutes. Come to find out that they didn't even have the ingredients and didn't tell me that they chose not to make the pizza. I was a little put off by that customer service experience. read more

Watch out Brookland - &pizza has moved into town! Look for the huge ampersand to find &pizza which is located on Monroe Street just off of Michigan. &pizza can get crowded during lunchtime and it's because this college town has been itching for a good variety of eateries. And a few more restaurants and shops will be opening up in the coming months. If you haven't been to &pizza, think of ordering a sandwich at a Quiznos. It's kind of cool at first to see your pizza being made from start to finish. Choose your dough and your toppings (if you're like me and indecisive they have signature pizzas from which to choose). Then after your pizza moves through the oven conveyer belt, finish up your pizza with extra toppings - parmesan, red pepper flakes, garlic oil, oregano oil, or red pepper chili oil. This time around I asked for the Farmer's Daughter. Why? Simply because I wanted to kick my pizza up a notch with a farm fresh egg cooked on top of my pizza. This is part of the &pizza chain, I have not visited the other locations so I can't compare. These pizzas are more flat bread style, it's shapes like a long rectangle. You can choose from pre-selected options, or you can make your own. I tried the pesto pizza, it was quite tasty, however as most pizza places do, they put on way too much pesto, I believe most people think it should be as much as marinara. The ingredients seem really fresh and they have a lot of variety. I think if you don't like your meal it's mostly because of your selection. The crust is quite nice and crispy. The food is ready very quickly. Only thing missing is outdoor tables. Will definitely be back. Oh and what's with the boxes? I didn't really get the shape, which is angular and triangle, it also didn't close that well. read more

Once again, the service here leaves much to be desired. I used to love this place all around, but as they have gotten larger, the quality and customer service has become atrocious. Most recently, I ordered a pizza, drink and cookie online for delivery. During covid, service and delivery fees have skyrocketed and I happy to continue to support local and pay those fees. I received the pizza only. I received only the pizza. I texted (their only means of online customer service) to both reorder the missing items and get a credit for both the missing items from the first order and the service and delivery fees for the replacement order. They offered to refund me for the missing items, but the manager that I spoke with refused to credit me $4.29 for the duplicative service and deliveries fees that I had to pay for their error. This is not how to run a business. Particularly since this is not a first time occurrence. So sad to loose such a regular customer over less than $5. read more

After finding out I was severely lactose intolerant about six years ago, pizza hasn't really been the same. I mean, it's fine without the cheese (I swear!), but it doesn't feel like eating pizza so much as a flatbread. I use vegan cheese for other things at home and always say I'm going to make homemade pizza, but for me pizza is about convenience, and whipping it up all on my own usually defeats that purpose. Enter the &pizza chain - and their Daiya cheese!!! I can make my own delicious creations with as much gooey, yummy** vegan cheese as I want! Do I get weird looks ordering extra bacon on my vegan cheese pizza? Probably, but I'm too excited to care! I get to eat CHEESE! Thank you, &pizza, for recognizing that not everyone can/will do dairy and providing an alternative. Between that and your awesome toppings, you have a fan for life. (**I say yummy, but if you can eat regular cheese, I'd stick with that. It's amazing how knowing that something won't make you violently ill makes it taste so much better.) read more

Great idea Ingredients are eclectic and fresh. Price is reasonable. Pizza is delicious. I cannot eat a lot, but I always finish my Pizza and never feel bloated or lethargic. I always make my own and never go by the signatures. I get whole wheat crust, red chick pea and pesto, fresh mozzarella ( MADE IN HOUSE!!!), cracked brown egg, eggplant, falafel, olives, sundries tomato, spinach, and sometimes some prosciutto. Mmm. The place isn't really built for efficiency and the line always bottlenecks at the register. It's a mild annoyance. The food cannot be beat. I go here way more than I should. Worst Location! On 3 occasions I ordered pickup on the app or from a delivery service. Unfortunately, I get dried up sauce on dough with barely any cheese on it!
