The pizza is always very tasty. However, when I came to the counter the employee, behind the counter, didn't greet me, or even look up from the tomatoes he was working on. I told him I wanted to order and he glared at me. When he finally got done with the tomatoes, he took my order. I mentioned the incident to the manager on duty and she offered no apology, nor did she mention that she would talk with her rude assistant. I placed a mobile order which was fast and easy versus going inside and ordering since we were 15 min away. I was instantly greeted with smiles and a vibrant and AMAZING staff. Everything about it was not good. From the unfriendly service, to the pizza boxes that they couldn't get to close properly and had no structure so I couldn't even stack three boxes to carry without them all lopsided to the flavorless crust with no structure that couldn't hold the few ingredients that were on it and poor quality ingredients. Passing by in a trip and decide to give this place a try. Coming from nyc we can be quite picky about our pizza but the kids loved it. I did not realize that the price of the pizza was one flat rate and you can get whatever you wanted on it. If i had known i would have loaded up the toppings on my pizza. The goes was nice and soft with a little chew to it which I prefer. The sauce was good and the tiny pepperonis had a slight crunch to them. The sodas must be special to this restaurant because I've never seen them before. I would definitely go back if i was ever in the area! read more

Everytime I order pizza from them the driver keeps delivering my pizza to Trinity. I'm at Children's Hospital and when the driver calls me he doesn't speak English. They need to check their GPS because it's not right. I give them my address but they keep going to Trinity. They need to update their GPS. And send drivers that speak English to. So I don't write reviews often but I was very pleased by the service offered at this location, specifically by a Mr. Darrell (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly). He was very patient and attentive, he had an eagerness to assist me with all my request despite being very busy and the other orders. on this specific day &pizza was having a BOGO deal so they were swamped and out of dough. Even so Mr. Darrell communicated that while it would be a 30 min wait he would be happy to serve us if we did. I had questions about how to apply the BOGO deal and he came from behind the counter to assist me with placing my order at the kiosk. He was very polite and made my experience worthwhile!! Regular service is expected when you enter an establishment but Mr. Darrell went above and beyond this. When you come close to the close of a restaurant, especially after an overwhelming day-which I don't doubt they had-it's understandable that the staff are tired and just ready to get the day over with but Mr. Darrell did not exude this at all!! When he completed his task of making all the online and in store pies he transitioned roles to help his coworkers with dressing, boxing and finalizing orders, overall 10/10 experience !!!! read more

I love me some &Pizza, and they're usually a 4* place on my book. But this location, was struggling when I visited. They were short a worker and thankfully the patrons were all understanding and either patiently waited or left. While I think being short staffed is something out of management's control, I would've appreciated more clarity on the situation, especially as the line grew. More upfront communication is a win in my book and hopefully something this location can improve upon. The day I visited the oven was also a little too high and the pizzas were coming out with quite a few burnt items. Maybe dial it down a little? I used to like this place but liking it less and less everyday. The workers are always rushing you when there's no one is even in the restaurant. They barley add any of the ingredients on your pizza. Always having an attitude. Not just this location but all of them. Once in a while you'll get someone good but 75% of the time it'll be one of those rush orders...pretending like they didn't hear you when you asked for something else to be added. Horrible! They added a mandatory self-service kiosk and eliminated the cashier. I ordered a pizza and paid extra for shrimp, which was not an issue. However, the server blew my mind when I asked for olives because I missed them at the kiosk. He told me next time, it would be an extra charge because I didn't include the item in my kiosk selection. There's been a couple topping mix ups but for the most part I've gotten a freshly made warm pizza. The crust is one of my favorite parts. Recently was able to visit the location a order a few pizzas for my coworkers and my self. The staff were polite and courteous to me and my coworkers. The place was tidy and clean in appearance, I used the restroom and that was pleasantly clean as well. Our pizzas didn't take long to make at all and the staff were courteous enough to adhere to our topping requests and diet restrictions. I'd definitely visit again and encourage others to as well. It's time to download the &pizza app. Once I laid eyes on the Farmer's Daughter (that isn't meant to sound dirty, it's a pizza!), I can't stop thinking about it. Every time I see an &pizza, I have to go. My Monday night dinner buddy and I were biking through DC exploring Brookland and it was close to dinner time, so why NOT go to &pizza. I'm glad we did because this location may be the coolest &pizza location in the DC metro area. Here's why: 1) It's just a few blocks from the Brookland-CUA Metro stop and all the cool shops in Brookland. 2) It's has a large ampersand sign by the entrance greeting you as you walk in that looks very cool. 3) The high ceiling and lighting. 4) Ample seating from window seating, long tables, and several large picnic tables outside. Tried delivery from &pizza and the guy shows up at my door, takes out a grimey backpack, unzips it and pulls the pizza out sideways (as in all the pizza would fall to the bottom of the box). When I open it up this is what I got (see pic). Plus it was cold. Not to mention as he left my porch he says don't forget to tip. Wow. Honestly after seeing it come out of this dudes dirty backpack I just threw it away. I sent a pic to &pizza and they blamed it on the fact that they use Door Dash. Okay. So don't use door dash if this is the kind of service they offer - or at least make that clear on your website so I know what I'm getting into. They told me to order another pizza free of charge, and that they would report the driver, but I'm not gonna order delivery again, wait almost an hour, and get another cold messed up pizza. If it looks good that's what's going on your pizza. Awesome you don't even need that stupid clip board the staff tells you what it is if you ask. Oh and the fact that it's whatever you want...I'm surprised people don't just go ham on the ingredients. So after careful deduction I came up with the following... As a veteran of several DC area institutions of higher learning, but not of Catholic, I have to say it pisses me off that CUA (and Trinity, for that matter) has an &pizza right next door. There was never much worth eating at our around UMD, Georgetown, St. Mary's, or any of my other campuses (seriously, I'm at seven in total and the food sucks at and around all of them), but here they have several nice things, of which &pizza is only one highlight. Maybe prayer does work. That being said, this &pizza location is close to the Metro and is larger than their downtown outlets, making eating in a more realistic aspiration. My latest visit also highlighted the reasons why it brings out the best of the fast casual trend. For one thing, they assemble things exactly the way you want them. Want to mix sauces, cheeses, or anything else? Go right ahead. Half and half? Not a problem. And when I ask them for just a few mushrooms, I get just a few mushrooms. Most sit-down restaurants will look at you cross-eyed if you try this, but &pizza is eater-friendly by design. On the other hand, I don't ask them to take special care to keep unwanted ingredients off my pizza; they just do that automatically. They just look at it, know that it has no meat, and use the separate green pizza slicer without being asked. That isn't just good service, that's good training and a system that works. I'm sure someone working at an &pizza has screwed up at some point, but I have not observed it. And I'm picky. The other thing is the actual stuff you can get. Only here can I, as a vegetarian with selective tastebuds, get a top-your-own pizza at one flat price and not feel ripped off. I still haven't exhausted the selection of sauces and toppings that I would want to try (let alone the many I personally don't). Even as a vegan, you could get a Daiya pizza (or a cheese-free flatbread) and get all kinds of interesting toppings. Pizza is an indulgence, but at least here you can get one with diverse and delicious plants on top. I've found the best approach is to balance complementary tastes rather than overloading on one. For example, this time I got basil pesto, so I didn't put basil on top (which I often do) and I added sundried tomatoes on top (which I normally don't because it's redundant to the tomato sauce). This worked great. You should always get spicy chickpeas, though. Those are just awesome. read more

came with some kids about 15 last-minute the manager DJ was great the staff was welcoming and patient. I mean it was 15 pre-teens fresh off a basketball game win so hype is an understatement. Oh &pizza... My love affair with &pizza is the kind that starts out really hot and then slowly fades away. When &pizza first opened in the DuPont location it was safe to say I was obsessed. Sometimes I really only went out drinking so I'd be in close proximity to get & pizza after. I loved them so much I inquired about franchise opportunities which sadly they didn't do. But as they have grown to more and more locations, the quality has gone down and down. The difference maker perhaps is when you order there and they are making it in front of you, vs. when you get it delivered, no one is watching. The brookland location is closest to me, and the past 4+ times I've had it delivered it was pretty disappointing. The crust wasn't stretched to a full crust size, perhaps a couple speckles of cheese, just overall a weak representation of pizza. I haven't had it in the past couple months from any other locations so I'm not sure if this is unique to Brookland. When I used to walk into the AdMo location, it was, per what I thought was usual, amazing. I would have given 2 stars, but I really liked &pizza as a company. The staff is generally friendly when I've been there, and I feel they've gotten behind the front lines in this pandemic with the donations of thousands of pizzas. I am a frequent & pizza customer and have visited multiple locations in the DC area. The Brookland location happens to be the closest one to my home. I actually ended up here today because I received an email letting me know I had a $5 credit just because and that it was expiring today. So I decided to make that my dinner. I have never had any of the signature pizzas and have always opted to build my own. I went with the regular crust and garlic ricotta sauce. I then added spinach, shredded mozzarella, fresh mozzarella, mushrooms, bacon and meatballs for my toppings. I also requested extra bacon amd cheese. After it was cooked, I added olives, arugala and extra goat cheese for the finishing touch. It was yummy as usual! They also have additonal sauces to top off your pizza as well as craft sodas and some dessert items as well. Shrimp is also available as a topping for an additional cost.
