I had surf and turf tacos, husband had 3-taco plate and we shared a churro thing with chocolate (so freaking good) and a specially prepared coffee "as Lina likes it" which was a great choice. I love the experience here as far as the ambience. Their back patio is really nice and authentic. I will say there were a lot of bees around which made us switch tables. My husband and I have been here quite a few times and we have never been disappointed but the reason for my 3 stars is because I had the tostadas de tinga and the chicken wasn't shredded like is supposed to be it was served in big chunks and it was very flavorless that way! The guacamole that we order on the side had way too many onions! My husband's fish tacos were ok to his liking though! Would we come back? Yes I'm sure but if the chicken is served the same way I will be sending it back! read more

I really never gave Andale much thought when looking for a cheap place to eat in Downtown Los Gatos. After grabbing a bite to eat there yesterday, I realized that I've been missing out! Now, you have to be aware that there's a big difference between dining inside and dining outside in their patio. Inside, you feel like you're just dining in a typical chain taqueria, but outside, you feel like you're on vacation in Mexico! The patio is super cute, and well landscaped with tropical trees. I seriously felt like I was already on my Playa Del Carmen vacation. The food was tasty too! The portions were huge, and well worth the price. I had $9 carne asada nachos, but it was plenty to share with at least two other people. I also had a glass of watermelon agua fresca, which tasted like the sweet nectar of the gods. Yay for another nice, inexpensive option in Downtown Los Gatos! Make sure you dine out in the patio at this location -- there's another one across the street for take out orders! read more

Placed an order through door dash because I work right down the street and wanted food that arrived warm. I ordered the Ensenada fish burrito which was described and pictured as "Beer battered wild caught snapper with black beans, cilantro rice, and habanero spiced cabbage topped with serrano salso". I requested the salsa on the side so the burrito wouldn't get soggy. It arrived and there was no cabbage, the fish was not breaded it was just chunks of bland white fish. The cilantro rice with the beans and bland fish just made it all really unappealing especially since the cilantro rice doesn't have much flavor also. Their salsa isn't anything special, very tomato forward. Maybe they are better if you eat in but I don't plan to ever order from them again. This review is written specifically for the new manager, Kim. I've been coming to both of the Los Gatos Andales locations for about 8 years now. I was there for the sad departure of the beloved manager Carlos, and to welcome Judith as the new manager. I've also watched Judith be promoted to a higher position, and see Carlos return as a line cook (yay!). Kim is a major problem. I've cut my takeout orders by more than half since this woman started. Anytime you walk in GUARANTEED she's micro managing the employees at the register, and taking any chance she gets to talk down to them. I always order a pitcher of watermelon fresca along with lunch or dinner. Sometimes I'm picking up dinner for the household and take it to go, and I've never had issues with this. For 8 years now it's just been 4 cups. Suddenly this woman made it 3 1/2, which is fine. That's her perogative. I don't really care. It's annoying feeling nickeled and dimed, but really, it's a 1/2 cup of watermelon fresca. So one night, I order dinner for takeout, along with the usual pitcher of fresca. The cashier filled up the pitcher and then poured it into 4 cups. One cup was about 2 inches from the top, so he just filled it to the top with ice. Kim then reamed him in front of me and said its 3 1/2 cups and then came to me and said to me "remember how I told you it's 2 1/2 cups for a pitcher?" I responded "you had said 3 1/2 actually." She said "well I guess you can have a little bit extra since we're closing." I responded and said "you know, if it's an issue, please take it back. I'm really uncomfortable with how you're speaking to me." She went on with her gibberish of oh ya it's 3 1/2 cups. Listen lady, the employees have been doing it this way for years!!! And if you'd like to harass them, don't do it in front of the customers. I was mortified. I'm a grown woman and here she is scolding me with a line of people behind me (who can hear everything) as though I'm plotting to steal a half a cup of a watermelon drink!!! I can't even handle anymore of the non sense. I've actually not ordered the fresca the last few times I've been in because I don't feel like getting spoken to like a child and then feeling guilty for employees getting in trouble. She's on a major power trip and is running this business into the ground. I really hope this place gets it's act together and gets back into customer service. Being that Carlos and Judith both have the quality of making you feel like you're on the red carpet whether placing an order to go, or by flashing a friendly smile to the customers, shows they know how to hire and they have people to provide proper training. I'll update my review when it improves. I really hope it's sooner than later. As said in other words, the rest of the staff and the restaurant deserves 5 stars. Sorry Kim. What a great find in downtown Los Gatos. So much to love about Andale. The food is authentic and yet also very accessible to folks that may not always enjoy Latin themed cuisine. The service associates are very friendly and helpful. The decor is distinctive and also has a subtle sense of humor. Next time we visit we're going to sit in the back by the fountain. How cool is that? We both enjoyed the El Presidente with whole wheat tortilla and I think that you will, too. The salsa and homemade guac is delish. Here's the bonus - in addition to generous portions of chipotle chickent inside the burrito, you also get a half dozen large shrimp to garnish your new favorite burrito. The iced tea at Andale is also very flavorful. I can only think of two items that could be a concern - relatively limited seating indoors and sort of high prices. The indoor seating is only a problem if it's raining outside and the prices - while high compared to my hometown of Dublin - are still pretty darn good for Los Gatos. read more

Been coming to Andale for years. They do a nice job with what they have. This location is bigger and nicer than the one across the street. They have done a great job with the decor. The line to the counter can make you feel like you are in the other diners way and finding a table is often a challenge. I like the fact you can get some yummy margaritas here but damn they are pricey for what you get. Food is pretty consistent but not as amazing as some of the more authentic fare around the valley or over the hill. This is a great place to stop by if you are shopping the area and don't want to blow your wallet on lunch or dinner and save it for retail therapy. read more

Waiter and Bartender both early 20s were distracted with the girl working the register. Chose it for its bar but closed our tabs and went elsewhere. I know I ate here years ago, but I don't really remember anything either good or bad about it. So today when a friend suggested we grab some lunch, I wasn't sure what to expect. Like Aqui, Andale is kind of like Mexican fast food, but in a spiffier setting than most taquerias, and the food has a California twist to it, so not authentic Mexican. You order at the counter and somebody brings your food to you. The menu had a lot of variety (and pretty high prices), but I decided on the Baja fish tacos. My friend got the quesadilla de hongos (mushrooms). The menu promised deep-fried red snapper, and I must say the big pieces of fish seemed freshly battered and fried. But the tacos smelled distinctly fishy when they were served, which put me off for a moment. But since I was starving, I took a bite. The tacos were actually quite good, with cabbage and roasted tomato salsa, but no lime (I had to ask for some). My friend wasn't so happy with her quesadilla, since the mushrooms were swimming in a chipotle sauce and laced with bell peppers (not mentioned in the menu description). To be fair, when she told them she couldn't eat bell peppers and asked for a plain quesadilla, they insisted on making her a chicken quesadilla right away. It looked good, and she left happy. I won't go out of my way to come back here, but will consider stopping by again if I'm in the area. But $8.75 for two fish tacos is pretty steep. So, really 2.5 stars, but I'm rounding up. read more

Andale has been so successful that it has two restaurants on Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos. The restaurant has a cozy and lively back patio area with a fountain. The camarones al ajillo, mesquite rotisserie chicken, chalupas and torta are my rotating favorites. The salsas are fresh and vibrant with a definite kick. Andale's is pretty much the go to place for Mexican in Los Gatos. The food is good, and they have really good agua frescas there. They rotate the flavors from day to day, but they are generally good. The prices are higher than they should be, but welcome to downtown Los Gatos. I was debated a 3 or 4 star, but decided that based on the Los Gatos everything expensive factor, I would give them a pass on the price inflation. They have a walk-up counter which can get backed up, but is generally pretty efficient. You can sit down after ordering and they will find you bring you your food. The kitchen is very efficient, and they continue to have some good Mexican food. Not too heavy and the portions are reasonable. They rotisserie cook their chicken and they have good flavor without being too dried out. They have a small salsa bar you can use, but chips are generally pretty skimpy, so you need to order that separate. read more

Ok, first off there's two locations across the street from each other so make sure you come to this one(the bigger one) the other one is more for take-out. The food here is delicious, I've had a good amount of things on the menu and I've liked it all so far. The street tacos have to be my favorite though. Also, you HAVE TO eat outside on the back patio if there's room. It's so nice and peaceful out there you almost feel like you're eating in Mexico. I love it! Los Gatos as a town to this Longuylander who frequents the North & South Bay areas, is a really nice find. It reminds me the villages of South Hampton, NY and Bar Harbour, ME; take the union of both and you have Los Gatos, CA. Andale in Los Gatos (they have a few locations) based on the locals and my colleagues was the one to go to, and that's where we went. It has a fast food feel to it with the elegance of a sit down relaxed environment. The outdoor seating in the back is key to enjoying your time here along with some of their large selection of liquid sensations. Here's what transpired: Blue Agave Based Liquid Sensations: - Top Shelf Margarita. Lime, frozen, with salt on the rim by request. It was fair at best and just that...was overly sweet, tasted straight outta the Jose Cuervo / Margaritaville mix bottle thrown in to a blender and straight in to a traditional margarita glass. Bleh. I had to drink something and although I didn't love or hate it, I had 2. Next time I'll get a beer... Andale's Foodstuff Creations: - Guacamole Salsa and Chips. Blah. Wasn't made tableside, it was made fresh but who knows when...probably at 9am that morning. Was lacking flavor, salt and was overly creamy and watery. The chips however were good + Carne Asada Nachos. Tortilla chips with carne asada, melted cheese, black beans, guacamole, salsa fresca and sour cream. These were decent, the carne asade was actually pretty good and thus made the dish edible...the salsa fresca was the best part of this. - Fresh Grilled Fajitas with Shrimp. Served with pinto beans, rice, guacamole, salsa fresca and corn tortillas. Okay so I've had fajitas everywhere and I have to be honest with you folks, this was really bland. The shrimp was overcooked as prepared in MOST restaurants, it lacked flavor, however the corn tortillas were fresh and warm. They have a salsa bar which when paired with their warm/fresh tortilla chips, make a great combination. Needless to say, we went to town on their salsa bar and chips combo... I've been eating at Andale's for many years and I've watched their prices slowly climb into the range of a sit-down restaurant, but they are still fast food style, order-at-the-counter. Their food is a little on the fancier side, and the menu options have more of a 'Mexican with California flair' and less authentic Mexican tastes. I've eaten the chicken flautas (very tasty), bean and cheese burrito (fresh tasting but nothing special), shrimp burrito (again, fresh ingredients but didn't feel especially Mexican), and the super nachos (very cheesy and one of my favorites). I prefer the hole-in-the-wall Mexican food at some taquerias in San Jose that tastes like you are sitting in a Mexican grandmother's kitchen, with prices around half of what you pay here at Andale's. That being said, the staff here are very friendly, helpful and full of smiles. read more

This is the kind of restaurant you miss forever if you leave the area as I have for retired pastures. For 30 years I enjoyed the delicious fresh fare with amazing flavors and long for them again in either location on Santa Cruz Av in LG. The chips and salsa are inspired appetizers with the made-fresh-daily aqua frescas. Ohh the strawberry. My go to favorite dish is the Mexican chicken salad with romaine, avocado, goat cheese and jicama. The house dressing is out of this world, a recipe I'd love to have always asking for extra, and the generous, grilled mesquite chicken makes you wanna weep for joy. MMMMMMMM. My second favorite is the camarones Al Ajillo, shrimp in garlic butter on guacamole. And whatever you do, don't miss the flan. Whatever I've eaten here tacoes, burritoes, I have enjoyed for the nouvelle approach to Mexican American food. Meats are tender, juicy, smoky, yum! Veggies are fresh, and the sauces TO DIE FOR. This place a litle hit or miss for me but when all said and done it's pretty legit food when you looking for mexcan. It's very informal in that you order from the counter and you take a number and then they come to deliver your food. Everything is on the healther side and they are excellent to customize your order as wanted. The salsa bar is pretty good with pickled coleslaw, carrots and different salsas. Most meals come with a side salad which is a nice touch and not customary with mexican places. Portions are pretty large so don't come here if you are not pretty hungry. Also it feels a little rushed when you are eating as people keep coming in and out and it's quite noisy inside so it's not really a place to relax and eat. read more

Love, love, love, LOVE this place. Authentic, tasty Mexican food (pricy, but sooo worth it), and a great atmosphere equals one happy tummy. I've been going here for years, and I still get excited about it every time. I love to sit in their outdoor seating behind the resturant, listen to the fountain and watch the birds hop around. Very serene. My personal faves are the gazpacho soup (I'm drooling right now), chicken flautas, and beef and chicken fajitas. I'm always too full to try the dessert, but their flan looks amazing! Had a late lunch here after leaving Pedro's (Santa Clara) due to being greeted by a unwelcoming hostess and having a more unwelcoming waiter and obnoxious table next to us. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our drink order was taken and delivered fast. They menu is limited, but a good selection. We ordered the guacamole, pico de gallo and chips. Everything was really good. For our entrees, we ordered shrimp fajitas and a combo plate. Both were really good. I really liked the chicken in the taco. It was very flavorful! The beans were really good, not your ordinary refried beans, but whole pink beans I really enjoyed them and the rice was good too. My only drawback was the service. We started with a great waiter, then he went on break and we were taken care of by another guy and then a female. It got confusing as to who was waiting on us as the waiter never said he was going on break or anything. The two ladies sitting next to us were confused also. A simple notification would have been appreciated. Other than that, everything was great. We will definitely be back when in the area. read more

So...easily one of the best values in Downtown LG! Most entree is in the $10-$15 range and for the quality of the ingredients (for example - free range chicken, organic eggs, locally grown produce, etc.)...combined with the generous portion sizes...you got yourself a winner! Fajita plates are my favorite here. Plates come with meat, rice/beans, lots of grilled veggies, generous scoop of GUAC, and 4 tortillas. I thought it tasted great! I poured some of the red salsa on here and was totally satisfied with my meal. Burritos come with a side salad (dressed with chunks of avocados and goat cheese) and chips! Again, value...value...VALUE! The restaurant is small but try to sit in the back patio if you can, it's totally awesome compared to the interior (which can get loud). Alright. This place will not blow you away - the food it mediocre. Its sort of a self service place and they don't give you chips with your meal. Inside, its a little cheesy - the walls are all painted with what looks like a tornado. Tonight my family and some family friends ate at Andale's sit down restaurant. There were seven of us in the party with three different orders. Out of the three orders only one of them was correct. My mother ordered two chili Reno's, which came out to be one chili Reno's and something else. When the next order came out, they brought shrimp tacos, however I ordered fish tacos. When we told them that those were not the plates we ordered the waiter/ food deliver was asking us if we were sure, which made us doubt ourselves and we check our receipts. They took both of the meals back, but by the time we got the two meals that were missed, everyone else was already done eating. I even got up about 15-20 minutes after they took back the first plates. When I did one water/food deliver handed me a plate of fish tacos and told me that the chili Reno's would be out soon. Overall, the entire experience was sad. In addition, my tacos were very spicy, which overpowered everything else on the plate. This place has really gone down hill. read more

I'm not from Los Gatos, nor do I have memories tied to this street or the local vendors. A friend gave me a tour of the town and pointed out this as a long-standing favorite place to grab a quick bite. I tried a chicken enchilada and a carnitas soft taco. The enchilada was pretty good, but the carnitas was pretty fatty and greasy. Overall, I'd say it's so-so. I did notice that they have a lot of vegetarian options, so that's one nice point. They also have some outdoor seating on a private patio. I don't see myself seeking this place out again, but if I lived in town it might be worth another try. read more

Andales is a great casual mexican restaurant in LG. I have been going here since high school and always go when I'm downtown. Love the back patio! My fiance and I always order/share: Chips and Guacamole (the guac is very tasty!!!!) Chicken Taquitos--there is a green sauce on one and a red sauce on the other, both delicious, and some fresh sour cream that has oaxaca or some kind of goat cheese mixed in. yum!!! Ultimate margarita--they recently got their liquor license. Don Julio margaritas! Just enough food and booze to lighten the day. Consistently great! read more

I really wish Andale was closer to where I live. They use fresh ingredients and the food is flavorful and delicious and not greasy like other Mexican places. I always get the chipotle shrimp quesadilla which comes with a delicious side salad with goat cheese and jicama. My significant other always has the shrimp burrito. They also have an assortment of aguas frutas...my favorites are pineapple, watermelon, or cantelope. The aguas frutas are perfect for rehydrating after a night of drinking lol. They have a nice covered patio and although the restaurant can get busy at times, you can usually find a table by the time your food is ready. They also have a 2nd location down the street. If you live in San Jose, check out Tu Mero Mole. This is a restaurant owned by one of the owners of Andale and has similar food. read more

Good drinks but I was not impressed with the food. My vegetarian enchilada with fried tofu filling was not memorable. The rice was good but the tofu was dry and boring (not that I would expect a Mexican restaurant to do tofu well but if its on the menu it should be decent) with no spices or any veggies or anything interesting. Do not get the tofu option!! My family said their dishes weren't great either. The cashier also messed up our large order so we were short 2 meals and there was a side added. They were sorry about it though. 1 star for the margaritas and 1 star for their cute back patio seating. Lots of plants, good lighting, etc. Wouldn't come back here except my boyfriends parents love this place for some reason! read more
