We recently visited this breakfast spot and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The seating area is very tight and cramped, so if you go with a big group it will be to small. The food was good overall, but it was somewhat bland. The main issue was the service we received from our server, Maria D. From the moment we sat down, she did not greet us and took our order as if she didn't want to be there. Not once did she return to check on us or ask if we needed refills on water or coffee. I had to get up multiple times to request coffee, water, and even a to-go box. When I politely asked for her name, she ignored me twice. After bringing the receipt, she handed it to me in a frustrated manner and began clearing the table. While doing so, she dropped creamer on my phone. She never came back to collect the payment -- I had to get up again. When I approached her with the receipt, she told another server to take my payment without acknowledging me at all. We remained friendly and respectful the entire time, so this treatment felt very undeserved and disrespectful. I do want to thank Bethany, who was very kind and helpful whenever we needed assistance -- even though she wasn't our assigned server. She stepped in multiple times while also handling her own tables, and her kindness did not go unnoticed. Overall, this was one of the worst service experiences we've had, and it was disappointing because it could have been avoided with basic courtesy and attentiveness. This is my second time coming to Lou's, this time we came after an ER visit and were in a hurry to eat and get my son back on time for practice. I ordered the California burger and fries and he had the breakfast chicken fried steak and eggs with the Loud coffee cake. Service was good and fast. Today is sadly the last time we will be visiting Lou's. We have loved the quality of the food and ambiance of this place over the past couple years, but one of the servers there is an absolute dealbreaker for us. I don't know her name, but we've had her the last few times we've visited, and her rudeness is consistent. She has chin-length hair, fair-ish skin, dark brow eyes, Spanish accent(?). Flashes a fake smile every now and then but then bitchy the rest of the time, no pleasantries, no asking how the food was or whether we needed anything else. She doesn't like customer service and it's obvious. We brought our out-of-town relatives there, eager for them to try out the place, and then we all had a conversation about her rudeness on the drive home. We were embarrassed. Do better, Lou's. This might be my new favorite breakfast spot! Don't be fooled from how it looks outside but inside is super cute, clean, and I love the wrap around bar seating. Although this place is small they've got table turning over quick. First off, I noticed the silverware they placed down was warm which means it's freshly sanitized/washed. And the tables didn't have that sticky feel to them. Everything felt properly cleaned. The food was phenomenal! I tried the Benedict duo, the classic and the crab cake. The classic was very good, it comes with a thick piece of ham. The crab cake was massive and so flavorful. I could've just eaten a plate of those. The hollandaise sauce was good as well. Can't forget about the potatoes either. I usually skip out on the house made potatoes and opt for hash browns but this time I was glad I changed my mind. Those potatoes were cooked to perfection, crispy yet soft, and loaded with flavor. I also tried my friends blueberry coffee cake and OH MY GOSH! Best thing I've ever had! I love good classic coffee shops and diners, it's hard out there but you can look to Lou's for some feel good classics. I ordered the Kentucky Farmhouse scramble and opted for a single biscuit and gravy to go with it. The dish is sausage links, ham, and roasted red bell peppers scrambled with eggs served over country potatoes and topped with cheddar-jack cheese and sour cream. The cheddar-jack adds a lot of richness to the dish and compliments the seasonings of the potatoes and herbs in the sausage. The portion was good and the service was really fast. They have a lot of customization options too so if you wanted this on top of hashbrowns, or fries you can sub those out. For a little more you can sub cottage cheese, fresh fruit, sliced tomatoes, or a side salad (according to DoorDash which is where I ordered from). For a side it comes with toast (white, wheat, sourdough, rye), English muffin, corn or flour tortillas, biscuit or biscuit & gravy. For a little more you can sub a pancake or coffee cake! I also got their coffee which was a good standard brew. Not burnt which is nice. I had asked for cream & sugar and I'm not sure if it was my driver who grabbed all of it for me or the restaurant that packed it but either way; they have French vanilla creamer and regular creamer; I was given 3 or each, as well as organic raw sugar an Splenda. Mmm mmm brunch delight! Lou's hit all the right spots, from food to coffee to service! My friend and I split a crab cake Benedict and an eggs scramble with loads of veggies. Both were made perfectly. I appreciated the coffee cake as a side and not just the typical selection of bread! And the coffee was REAL coffee, and I love the unlimited free refills of a coffee shop! I have been coming to this establishment for years and have always enjoyed my visits. They even have a memorial honoring my riding buddy, Bob, which makes this experience even more disappointing. During my most recent visit, I entered with my service animal and was immediately confronted by a waitress who demanded to see my service animal ID. As many people know, there is no legally required service animal ID under the ADA. When I politely attempted to explain the law and my rights, she continued to argue with me rather than asking the two questions permitted under federal law. I was ultimately not asked to leave, but the interaction left me upset and embarrassed. What makes this even more frustrating is that this was not the first--or even the second--time I have brought my service animal to this establishment. Staff should be properly trained on service animal laws to prevent situations like this from happening to others. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue, as I would like to continue supporting a place that I have enjoyed visiting for many years. read more

Even though I said I wouldn't be back 10 years ago, I decided to give this place another try, and I'm sure glad that I did! I came on a Tuesday by myself versus on the weekend, and that made all the difference. Lou's is a very small place, so try to go during the week if you can, like on a Monday or Tuesday, to avoid the crowds and the wait, and to get better service. My server Natalie M was such a sweetheart, and the food was delicious! I ordered the Lou's Duo Benedict, with the Classic Benedict and the Veggie Benedict, minus the red bell peppers. Everything was so fresh and delicious! The Hollandaise sauce is so good, it tastes homemade. Much better than at most places. And the hashbrowns were delicious! Service is friendly and timely but not rushed or hectic. The place is fairly small with about 10 tables inside, some bar style seating, and a fews tables outside. Locals know its a great breakfast place so lines cans form and they dont take reservations. You'll find parking in front and more around back. Let's start by saying...We loved our food so much, we ate our meals, before I took a few pictures...and I apologize. I will get pictures the next time. Also this isn't our first time having a wonderful meal at Lou's. Far from that. So, pictures will be coming soon. Lou's is exactly what you would expect went you look through the front doors. The ambiance is eclectic. Kind of busy without actually being distracting and this atmosphere allows you to converse without worry. It's that "hole in the wall" with a menu that screams "try everything" and presentation that will make you happy. Breakfast and lunch each offered from 7 am to 2 pm. We have to talk about Lou's Bloody Mary's. Absolutely awesome! You won't want just one. Not too hot but not lightning your mouth on fire. Plus the garnish includes a stock of celery, an olive, pickled green bean, the topper, a thick slice of bacon. Delicious!! Mimosas, imported beers are also on hand. Now for the food. Delicious isn't a big enough word to describe the food experience at Lou's. I really can't say more than that. I have had my favorite Ruben sandwich with fries many times over the years. Did I say delicious? Corned beef piled high, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Breakfast and lunch both exquisite. Did I say exquisite? Yep, I guess I did. And I meant it. Great food, friendly atmosphere, superstar wait staff. You can't say more than that. I love this place. And now the things that have to be mentioned. Not a lot of parking and not a lot of seating. I would say 30 people would be a large crowd at Lou's. It has self seating, but this is not a bad thing. You have to figure out what time to get there that's not too busy to get a table. There is some outdoor seating. And if you're in a hurry, do an order online and pick the food up. No worries. Oops, no reservations There are other versions of Lou's hospitality, however, I have only experienced this version on Los Gatos Blvd. One more thing that has to be said. By giving this review, I've really screwed myself. LOL! Because of this review, everybody and his tree will be trying to go to Lou's. You should too. This place must be experienced. The prices are about $20 to $25 per person with an adult drink. By no means outrageous. I will be going back soon. And pictures will follow. Went here for my birthday lunch! What a delight from beginning to the end. There was a small line at the door and gave the attendant my name and wanted a table for two. I was surprised to hear she had one for us. She just needed to wipe it down. Awesome! Then we noticed a couple spots at the bar and decided to take seats there. I love the bar. It's a square shape so it's like community seating. The stools are super comfy too! I ordered an omelette and my boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy. I ordered hash browns with my omelette and my BF had country fried potatoes. Both were delicious! Oh and of course we ordered the Tiki Mango Mimosas. Wow impressive, they weren't super sweet like I expected. And they are huge. All the servers were so friendly and they all help each other out in the sweetest and friendliest way. I loved watching them treat each other with such kindness. During our lunch we exchanged chats with Alexia, Brittany, Pablo, and Jisel. They were all so fun and pleasant. PRO TIP: come very, very hungry...because the portions are always huge! It's always a tradition to come to Lou's for a late breakfast. Everything comes out super quickly (which is good when your stomach is rumbling) and the servers are all very lovely. I got three pancakes, eggs, and sausages and I was very happy! Everything was cooked well, but the only thing I would say could improve would be the pancakes, as they were very doughy and thick. The orange juice was extremely fresh and seemed homemade, and I wish it came in a larger glass. While this isn't about the food, their bathrooms are very clean! We will definitely be back! read more

Came here on a Friday morning around 8:30 and didn't have to wait to be seated. They are a small brick and mortar so I could see it getting busy on weekends and a long wait. They have a large menu with the classics and unexpected dishes like peach cobbler pancakes which I want to return to try. I ordered the Garbaga Plate which needs a new name but was a delicious scramble on top of super crispy house potatoes. Instead of toast, they offer a blueberry coffee cake that is a large and tall fluffy piece of cake. It was hard not to eat the whole thing! The staff person who sat us down and brought our drinks was a really nice man but our server had an attitude. She looked older and annoyed at us for asking for a few more minutes to look at the menu. She did check on us a few times but that initial interaction made me feel like she didn't want to serve us. Hope she was just having a bad day because the food was spectacular! Finally made it to Lou's. Clean but smallish cafe. Love the bright green accents. California eggs bene was excellent, but maybe a little more crisp on the muffin would be good. Mimosa was excellent. My partners in tasting had the steak eggs ranchero and the Reuben sandwich, which were both excellent. We may not have a Jewish deli here in the South Bay, but this Reuben is a welcome substitute. They have so many excellent sandwich options and breakfast options, including the sweets...pancakes, waffles etc. the only thing I didn't care for were the "country" potatoes: they were mushy, and the onions and peppers were not carmelized, ie raw and big pieces.
