I took my girl here for Valentine's Day like I always do, and overall we had a great experience. I really appreciate restaurants that allow reservations, especially on busy holidays. There was a slight mishap this time though I made the reservation about three days before Valentine's Day and received a confirmation text. Then the day before Valentine's Day, I got another text saying my reservation was canceled, which definitely threw me off. Thankfully, I called the restaurant and they were able to get everything situated and reinstate my reservation. That was a relief. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess who asked if we had a reservation and then directed us to our table. I really liked our table location it felt comfortable and perfect for a date night. The ambience of the restaurant was nice and set the tone for a great evening. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. For drinks, I got a Summer Breeze and my girl had the Tai Chi. For appetizers, we ordered the Lady Fingers which I never had before but were really good. For our main dishes, we had the pineapple fried rice, cashew chicken, and Pad See Ew. I stepped out of my food comfort zone with the cashew chicken and Pad See Ew, but I made the right decision because both dishes were delicious. One unexpected kicker was that they boxed up our leftovers for us, which was a really nice touch and something I appreciated. Overall, this was a great Valentine's Day experience. They were very diligent in ensuring all tables were turned efficiently and the active tables were tended to. The place was a great spot for date night, girls night or just a weeknight bite to eat. What a wonderful meal. I came here for lunch during the week. My husband got the red curry shrimp that came with a soup, salad, rice and a small cucumber a salad. I got the pad sew ew and it came with a salad too. We also got the mango sticky rice, a mojito and calamari. Everything had so much flavor and was fresh. And why shouldn't they thrive? With hearty dishes that represent some of the best cuisine found throughout the country of Thailand, Kacha Thai Bistro features a wide variety of dishes that combine traditional Thai cuisine with contemporary Western sensibilities. When we arrived for dinner on a weeknight at Kacha Thai Bistro it was busy enough despite the fact that Happy Hour had just ended for the evening. The menu at Kacha Thai Bistro is separated into categories including Chef's Special, Starter, Soup, Salad, Sides, Noodles and Rice, Curries, Main, Seafood, Desserts and Beverages. Our party of three people weren't super hungry but we were intrigued by the multiple offerings that Kacha Thai Bistro has to offer that we asked our server what their most popular dishes are. He suggested their Ginger Eggplant which was their sauteed eggplant entrée served with shrimp and chicken in basil ginger garlic sauce. We also ordered their Pineapple Fried Rice which came with our option of pork and served in a hollowed out pineapple rind. For our third entrée, they had several pictures on their menu of their many Chef's Special items, and their Oriental BBQ Baby Back Ribs which were served with a variety of steamed vegetables looked so good that we had to order it. It wouldn't take too long for our first dish, their Ginger Eggplant to be delivered first, followed by our Pineapple Fried Rice, with the Ginger Eggplant being a real star of our meal with it sautéed eggplant served with more than enough chicken and shrimp that everyone got to enjoy just a little bit and then some, and for a entrée under 20 dollars, I consider this more than a reasonable price point. When served with its gravy that topped their Pineapple Fried Rice which was mixed with our order of pork and corn, carrots, scallions and eggs, it was the most refreshing dish. Finally our Baby Back Ribs came out as it was so much food, but so good as the meat fell off the bone that every bite was juicy and flavorful. If ribs are usually served like this in Thailand, book me on the next flight! Our total bill was $69.92 before gratuity was added in and for three main dishes of which we had plenty to take home with us, we were sold on another visit to Kacha Thai Bistro. With a Happy Hour with affordable appetizer options, and discounted cocktails that can be enjoyed in their main dining area, Kacha Thai Bistro has quietly become a Walnut Creek institution, plus their Thai Iced Tea is affordably priced too! This was my second visit and as an old habit I order the same dish in time I'm in a Thai restaurant. I had forgotten that I had this same dish on my last visit. The service is cordial, friendly and attentive. As expected, each Thai restaurant offers Khao Soi and their interpretation or taste can be different. The protein portion, chicken was very generous. The food came quickly, however, the portions were small. The beef and bean dish barely had 2-3 oz of beef. We pointed it out to the only server there. He checked with the chef and advised us that the chef used the lunch special portion by mistake. No effort to get us more beef or take it off the bill or anything to make up for it. There were barely a dozen people for lunch on a fine Tuesday. Now we understand why. It's quite a large space with easy (free!) parking. However, it feels like the owners have lost their passion. The food took a normal amount of time, and we didn't mind waiting since we were having good conversation. I got the yellow curry with pork and mango sticky rice. The curry had simple flavor with no spice. I like my curry on the sweeter side, so I added some sweet sauce from the vegetable dish, which made it even better. The mango sticky rice was a good size for sharing between two people. The mango was sliced nicely and there was plenty of rice. The only thing was that the rice could have used more coconut milk, but it was still a great dessert overall. on 12/29/25, i was overcharged 27$ total and this was not the first time. i urge future customers to carefully go over their receipt. my party of three ordered the 22$ lunch combo. when we got our check, each lunch combo was priced at 25$. we decided to ask about this and i honestly thought that they would explain that we had ordered something with an extra cost, however the server came back and told us the manager adjusted the price back to 22$. he didn't explain why we were charged extra. this is not all. one guest in my party caught that they charged us a 'large party fee' of 18$. on the menu it specified that a large party fee is for 6+. without tax, this brought the original check from 108$ to 99$ to 81$. overall, we almost paid 27$ in extra, and weren't given a clear explanation of why. i wish i could see this as a mistake, but on 6/4/25 i remember the same 22-25$ incident happening, but didn't speak up about it (i also always order the same exact dishes, so there is no way i had ordered an extra charge). i also noticed that this time, the portions were much smaller and fitted on the plate flat and wide to appear fuller. i personally think the food is still great, i just don't feel that it's that same bang for your buck anymore. the photo attached only shows the receipt after they first changed the 25$ back to the 22$ price. later, they also took away the 18$ 'large party fee'. read more

We had the starter "Goong Gra Bok" and it was very good. The crispy shrimp was tasty and it was complemented well with the sweet garlic sauce. By recommendation from our waiter we got the Tom Yum and it was the perfect warm soup on a cold and rainy day. Really delicious and complicated flavors that you can't get anywhere else. We felt like having Thai for lunch and our NP suggested Kacha Thai Bistro. Though I hadn't tried it, I heard great things from folks on Nextdoor. I got the pumpkin curry with shrimp and a side of brown rice. Super tasty and filing! The rice absorbed the flavor of the curry quite nicely. I ordered it mild, which was perfect. It had a slight kick but was not overly spicy. Can't comment on the service or ambiance but hopefully it's as good as the food. Having recently returned from Thailand, I was craving some pad kra pao and was completely disappointed in my dish. Definitely not authentic and may be the worst pad kra pao I've ever had. That being said, the food isn't bad, but if you're familiar with Thai food, it isn't good, especially for the hefty prices they charge. I had high hopes for this one because the menu description sounded delicious. Upon arrival it was stir fried pieces of fried chicken tossed in sauce with baby corn and king oyster mushrooms. If it was plain chicken and not fried I would have enjoyed this dish a lot more. The flavor was good though. For appetizers, the roti with curry dipping sauce was ok. We loved this dessert too, and probably the first time to have a sweet rice for dessert. I liked how the mango was so sweet and ripe. While on our way to Locust Street on foot, we found Kacha, a Thai Bistro place. What a good find it was! The inside was very clean with contemporary modern decor and a touch of Thai culture. It had a cozy vibe! We ordered some cocktails, Panang curry, curry Roti, fried calamari, and Pad Kee Mao to eat. All were delicious and flavorful! After spending the afternoon at Broadway Plaza with a friend of mine, they recommended that we try Kacha Thai for dinner. We were able to find parking easily as there is a parking garage right next to the restaurant. Upon walking in, they request for your proof of vaccination, so be prepared to have it ready before dining here. Since it was the beginning of dinner hour, my friend and I were assigned a table without wait. However, I suggest making a reservation in advance if you plan on dining at a later time or with a party of 4 or more. APPETIZERS- We ordered two appetizers to start off our meal: Soft Shell Crabs and Beef Satay. The Soft Shell Crabs arrived piping hot, had a slight crunch, and the chili garlic sauce had a kick to it. The crabs benefitted from the sauce on the side since there wasn't much going on with the crab flavor-wise. The Beef Satay consisted of tender Sirloin skewers accompanied with a side of refreshing cucumber salad and savory peanut sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how juicy the beef was and wasn't dry at all! ENTREES- Onto the entrees, we opted for: Seafood Hot Plate, Lamb Hot Plate, and Shrimp Pad Thai. Not only was the presentation of both Hot Plate dishes spectacular due to the sizzling galore, but there was a lot of flavor going on with each bite. The Seafood Hot Plate had a delicious spicy garlic sauce and had an even amount of mussel, scallop, prawns, and calamari. I highly recommend this dish for spicy seafood lovers! The Lamb Hot Plate consisted of chili garlic paste and the lamb was tender. The dish was tasty, but it was more on the mild side in terms of spiciness. The Shrimp Pad Thai was slightly sweet with tang from the tamarind sauce. The shrimps were nice and plump. It was delicious! SERVICE- I appreciate the three servers who checked up on us a few times and refilled our waters despite how busy they were on the Saturday evening. Props to the chefs and servers that ensured our food arrived to the table in a timely manner!
