I highly recommend staying here at the Grayson Hotel. When you enter, you are greeted and there is cold water and lemonade at the front. I definitely needed a refreshing drink after the long flight. We dropped our things off and headed down to the hotel restaurant. It did take a little while for the server to come take our order, but I could tell he was being worked and he was very polite to us. We enjoyed the salmon on a bed of chickpeas, and I had a couple cocktails to ease into our dinner. I then headed upstairs to the rooftop bar and lounge. I sipped on a vodka soda while I enjoyed the stunning view of New York City. I have to give a shoutout to Samuel for showing me around and tending to my questions and needs. The next day, I was so surprised to come back to a large bottle of Moet champagne and a handful of chocolate chunk cookies. Thank you so much to the staff for the wonderful treat, and for their supreme hospitality. The next night, our whole party of 10 went to the rooftop bar to eat tacos and drink. Another big shoutout to Tim for consistently checking up on us, helping us with our orders, bringing in more tables and chairs for our large group, and just being the best. Our hotel room on the 17th floor had a perfect view of the Empire State Building. We are so lucky to have stayed here!! read more

Opened in November 2022, the Grayson Hotel (part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt) features 296 guest rooms and can be characterized by having an "intentional design." While many boutique hotels in Midtown NYC are historic retrofits of existing 20th-century office buildings or apparel factories, the Grayson Hotel is actually a brand-new, ground-up development. Designed by Marcello Pozzi of Architecture & Design (MLLO), the building sits in a historic, gritty stretch of Midtown near the Garment District. Pozzi and interior designers The Setting New York seem to have explicitly designed the structure to pay homage to turn-of-the-century New York industrialization. Rather than hiding the modern building's raw bones, the interior relies on a juxtaposition of heavy industrial elements and understated "quiet" luxury. My guest room featured raw, unfinished concrete ceilings paired deliberately with high-gloss lacquered wood, steel, glass, and some gold accents (like in the bathroom fixtures, lamps, etc). However a hotel must include more than architectural and design details. As a frequent traveler and hotel customer all over the world, I highly prize a property's service over gloss. Unfortunately, my experience with some aspects of the service at the Grayson (I stayed several days), did not rise to the level of relaxed luxury the property seems to aspire. The Grayson has several restaurants (Harta, Cima), but during my stay only one, Harta, seemed available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went to the front desk and politely requested to have an opportunity to see Cima, a rooftop bar that is supposed to provide awesome views of the Manhattan skyline. However, I was told by the front desk that Cima was "not available"due to Fourth of July party events, and that if I wanted to view the rooftop bar, I had to purchase tickets for one of the events, and she showed me the prominently displayed post cards announcing them. Please note that I only requested to SEE the bar, not to drink or sit in it, and my ask was during daytime. As a paying guest during an extended stay, this did not sit well with me. I did eat breakfast several times at Harta, but I was not impressed neither by the service nor the food. In one occasion during breakfast I asked for an a la carte omelette with salad instead of potatoes, but got the potatoes and no salad. The service during breakfast was brisk, with two managers pushing the servers to rush table turning, cafeteria style, as if there was a line waiting to be seated (there never was even a full house). During breakfast my breakfast experiences , I had both the buffet and a la carte items. The food was, in general, fine, but not exceptional. The perceived rush was definitely not a trademark of "quiet luxury". I also had a drink and an appetizer at the Harta Bar, and the bartender told me that he did not have the ingredients for one of the featured cocktails (a Barcelona Gin and Tonic), which ended up being a plain gin and tonic. On a positive note, I was happy to see that the Grayson did have daily room servicing, and this was unobtrusive and excellent, and my room was kept inmaculate. I am providing this information as a constructive criticism, which I hope the Grayson management will take at face value. read more

Pros: * Great central location, super walkable to major NYC attractions, restaurants, and transit. * The hotel is very clean, modern, and trendy with a stylish overall vibe. * The first-floor restaurant looked beautiful, even though I didn't get a chance to try it. Cons: * Rooms are definitely "Manhattan-sized," so don't expect much extra space. * The bathroom design was a little awkward. There's a window facing the bedroom, and although there are blinds, they don't fully cover the view. * I was surprised there wasn't a wine opener in the room. When my boyfriend asked the lobby for one, they said there would be a corkage fee and that staff would have to open the bottle themselves. I've never experienced that at a four-star hotel and thought it was pretty unreasonable. * For the price, I would probably look for a hotel with better amenities and a bit more room next time. read more

Well-appointed hotel and super clean. My bestie and I met in NYC for an overdue hang and we stayed at The Grayson (Friday evening). We booked a room with double beds, and it was relatively roomy for an NYC hotel. The (outdoor) rooftop bar was worth the price of admission. Gorgeous views and perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail. Our spicy margaritas were balanced with sweet heat. Word! The lobby is quite small, so if you're planning to meander before leaving, you may want to sit in the restaurant instead. GREAT LOCATION!! Rooms are very small but I guess thats typical for NYC. Elevators are extremely slow and when you do finally get one; hotel workers are pushing their way in with carts. Happened many times and it was a little annoying cause they would actually 'push their way in'. Great views!! We were on the 25th floor, our A/C sounded like a jet taking off every time it would click on. Not sure if that's 'normal'??? Oh and when you exit the hotel and go left; don't ever buy anything from the bordega that is right there, it is SO overpriced. read more

Stayed here for the weekend. I was excited to try this four star hyatt hotel. Well the lobby is nice the rooms were typical new york size rooms but the huge issue is elevators. At one point all three banks of the elevator were out of service and i asked another guest that's stayed here more than me, he said the elevators are always an issue. he said that it happens often to the point that he said he will not stay here anymore. The hotel team said in no it not that often and typical for new york hotels. i pushed back and said it has never happened at other hotels in NYC. just be warned that elevators are and issue here and until the hotel makes some changes hard to recommend this hotel. read more

Really impressed with the Grayson Hotel, which is a Hyatt property. For a Manhattan hotel the room is super spacious. The bed is large and comfortable and there is a nice sized bathroom. Everything in the room feels super sleek and luxe. Sometimes Hyatt properties can feel dated, and that definitely is not the case here. There is a restaurant and a bar on premises. The bar is on the top level and has swanky cocktails and fantastic views of the Empire State building. It's a great low key spot to grab a drink and relax. It's a good location and walkable to Bryant Park / Penn and lots of eating and shopping of course. Will definitely keep in mind for future overnight stays in NYC. read more

Lack of Communication and Misinformation - Very Disappointing Experience My husband and I stayed at this hotel over Valentine's Day weekend with our one-year-old baby and our dog. Unfortunately, our experience was marked by poor communication and misinformation from the staff. Prior to check-in, I called the hotel to confirm that a pack-and-play would be available for our baby. I was assured by the front desk that one would be provided upon arrival. During the same call, I was informed that due to construction, the loading zone was unavailable and that we would need to park at an associated garage located one to two blocks away. Based on the inconvenience of the parking situation and the reassurance that the hotel would supply a pack-and-play, I decided not to bring our own. At check-in, I requested the pack-and-play again and was told it would be sent to our room. After waiting nearly an hour without receiving it, I went down to the front desk and was told a "rush order" would be placed. We then left for a dinner reservation. When we returned after 8:00 p.m., the pack-and-play was still not in the room. Upon inquiring again, we were informed that housekeeping had just advised the front desk that there were no pack-and-plays available and that they had been out of stock since Friday--the day before our arrival. When I asked why we had been assured one would be available, the front desk staff attributed the misinformation to housekeeping and mentioned that they had attempted to call our room while we were out. I was also told that I could purchase a pack-and-play at the CVS down the street. We were extremely disappointed by the lack of coordination and accountability. Had we been properly informed in advance, we would have brought our own pack-and-play. As a result, our baby did not sleep well, and we checked out the following day. Given this experience, we would not recommend this hotel. read more

Would stay again!! Every hotel employee we encountered greeted us, offered help in any way, and were so sweet. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly, and it was a great haven to come back to after long days running around the city. We didn't go to the actual restaurant, Harta, although we ordered room service one afternoon-- a cheeseburger and a BLT from their menu, and were very impressed for it being in-room dining. The fries were perfection. We'll also have to return to try the roof top bar, Bar Cima. Several people in the elevator had told us it was wonderful. (Another plus-- every guest we passed or rode an elevator with was in high spirits and friendly!!) They offer a discount with the nearby Dock parking garage, that kept our rental car safe during our stay. It was also a super convenient location for running around to a plethora of great dining, a Target when we needed something in a pinch, and even our uber ride to the Financial District for work was not too expensive. The rooms were midcentury modern, and I loved the concrete ceilings. A brutalist touch while still being cozy. I can't say enough nice things! read more

I would have given this hotel five stars but the customer service was horrible. The worst I've experienced in NYC, and as someone who used to live there that's saying a lot. We called the front desk at night to ask for late check out the next day, and the front desk agent said that normal check out was at 11am but she would let us check out at 1pm. We thanked her and went to bed. The next day, the front desk called at noon and asked why we hadn't checked out- we told them about the phone call the night before. This lady said there was no record of that (implying we weren't telling the truth), that a late checkout is a half day charge, and it would be fine this time but won't happen again. It was a very unpleasant exchange. When we checked out, we went to the front desk to again clear up any miscommunication and tell them the person on duty the night before said late checkout at 1pm was fine. This man had no kindness or empathy whatsoever. He said "There's no record of that call on your room. We normally charge you for a late checkout- but we will give you this one time courtesy only but not anymore. What was the name of who you talked to last night?" We don't know! We didn't ask the front desk lady's name?!! We don't appreciate being made to feel like liars and grifters by not one, but two, employees. As frequent world travelers, and hospitality industry employers are normally kind, understanding and accommodating to customers. We were made to feel like we were taking advantage of the hotel when all we did was ask for a late checkout...it was not our fault the night employee didn't record the phone call. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression, and we won't be returning. Careful here -- these people can be very judgmental and unkind to their guests. read more

Overall I enjoyed my stay here! Spot is in an ideal local! Extremely close to touristy things here in NYC. Close to subway entrances as well. Only downside was that the room was A LOT smaller than I expected. You definitely wouldn't be able to fit more than like two normal suitcases.. maybe a third but even an oversized bag would be hard to open in the room. I feel like their suites would have been the size of your typical normal room anywhere else. The bed in this room was amazing! BEST SLEEP EVER. Extra soft, sheets and covers were great and pillows were comfy. Usually it's one or the other but everything about this bed was amazing. Overall our stay was great. I read before that people had issues with elevators but during our stay it worked well. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. read more

Really expensive for what you get , this hotel is small and rooms look unfinished but they like to call it "rustic". The hotel is nothing fancy at all and really not worth the price. They have Amex benefits like free breakfast but they unethically limit it by preventing popular items on the menu, I have never seen this before, likely doesn't comply with Amex guidelines. Their room upgrades are also a complete joke. The best thing about this hotel is the location proximity to Times Square but for the price you will not get luxury or even decent service , I would skip this hotel. In scouring the midtown manhattan area I discovered the Grayson Hotel. It was nested in the east side of the Garment District surrounded by old low rise buildings near Bryant Park. I never heard of this brand so found out it was part of the Unbounded Collection by Hyatt. In my hometown, Austin, the Driskill Hotel is part of this collection which is highly rated as a luxury hotel, so had anticipation this place was up to high standards too. As a bonus wold also earn Hyatt Loyalty Points. So I booked a room upgrading with a view of the Empire State Building. I generally prefer smaller boutique hotels to feel part of the local community. The hotel also recently opened and was fresh out of the box. When I arrived around 8:00 PM there was no bellman which was ok, walked past the restaurant, Harta, headed to the front desk. The lobby was small but was very modern and new. I was greeted nicely and checked in quickly, and headed up to my room. I was with my wife at the time where the main goal was to see all the holiday decorations and see a Broadway show. The room was like a typical small NYC apartment I where it was very organized and with an excellent view of the Empire State Building, and could even see the WTC in the distance. I felt like a scored the best room. The bed was soft, daily maid service, and nice shower amenities. There was no room for a mini refrigerator but can call and have pretty much anything brought up to your room. I made many orders during my stay and the service was reasonably quick. The only drawback was this place being so new had a few new home kinks. First we had issues with the elevators for two of our days and the outside bar/cafe did not have permits to open, but this was not a problem where both Harta and Cima (located on top floor) were available. Harta had delicious food and Cima had great drinks and a nice view of the NYC skyline. I was impressed with the Grayson where our room was so quiet, place so peaceful away from the younger party crowd, and relaxing. It's walking distance to all the tourist highlights like the Empire State Building, Times Square, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, One Vanderbilt and Grand Central Terminal. There were a few local neighborhood restaurants on the street to experience. I did not see an onsite parking garage where we arrived by black car. There is no swimming pool is you are wondering. This was definitely the perfect choice for us to stay at in NYC. read more

I stayed at the Grayson Hotel (a Hyatt property) last weekend for a solo trip over Labor Day. I really liked the hotel. The location (in Midtown, very close to Bryant Park) was really convenient. Great access to subway stations and very close to the Theater District (great since I was seeing a play). Gorgeous lobby. Great service from all the staff at the front desk. They let me check in super early, which I appreciated (I had just planned on dropping off my bag and then checking in later in the day). My room was gorgeous - great windows, great decor, great bathroom. I didn't have a coffeemaker in my room, but they offer complimentary coffee in the lobby. My only real con (and it's not major) is common in NYC - why are the elevators so slow?! This was my third weekend in New York this year, and the Grayson is easily my favorite of the hotels I've stayed at. I'd happily stay again. Had a really lovely stay. read more

The Grayson is a hidden gem in NYC. I needed a hotel near Grand Central Station for a quick work meeting and was pleased to discover it's less than 10 minutes away. In fact, the hotel is also about 10 minutes from Penn Station and Port Authority, making it centrally connected to all major transportation hubs--a major plus for me. The staff were amazing and welcoming, making check-in a breeze. I needed to get to my room quickly for work calls, and I was able to settle in within minutes. The rooms are fantastic, with spacious beds and plentiful bathroom amenities. Although the room didn't have a mini-fridge initially, I found out the next day that the hotel can send one upon request. The real highlight, however, was the memorable view; seeing the Empire State Building while working made my tasks feel more enjoyable. As a fitness enthusiast, I was thrilled with the state-of-the-art gym facilities, which allowed me to do both cardio and lift weights. Overall, the hotel combines modern luxury with convenience, making it a place I will definitely return to. read more

Service was friendly, on point and the location is probably the big win - ideally in the heart of everything. This handsome boutique hotel has been open only six months, and it has wrinkles that still need ironing out. Not a reno but an entirely new-built hotel, the Grayson is even newer to the Hyatt (specifically its "Unbound" collection) portfolio, whose app's room key feature wasn't working and might have had something to do with why I couldn't get on either the Hyatt or the Grayson wifi. The courteous front desk staff efficiently produced the usual key card and shared the password for the staff wifi. On the whole, service was fine, though my favorite room service encounter had to be how two sets of compostable cutlery showed up in answer to my request for a Nespresso machine. The next morning, I returned the cutlery and partook of the La Colombe coffee at the Harta Restaurant bar that was complimentary for hotel guests. The small standard king room was, well, standard for Manhattan, but some of the standard amenities are not. I really appreciated the robe and slippers that I didn't have to request. Had I not brought my own umbrella, there was a handsome full-sized umbrella to use for free ($50 for sale). The room is too small for a mini-fridge or coffee maker, but these and other items can be requested, though you might just get compostable cutlery. I was inordinately delighted with the LATHER toiletries, which at two ounces each are twice the standard size, plus they are really lovely and lemongrass-scented. The shower will be just what you need after a day of travel. Between the bed and the room situation, I slept better than I had in a long time. The bed is firm yet soft, while the room was well insulated from street noise, though the latter might have been because mine was an inner room with an unspectacular view. The only noise heard came from people arriving on the elevator just opposite my door (0609). The design for privacy extends to the windows, which appear to be mirrored on the outside. However, this also means the room can get pretty dark if you prefer natural light. Elevators are slow, so the next time I stay here I'll request a lower floor so that I can use the stairs. The location is perfect for catching a show and commuting by train, two of my favorite things about NYC, so it's nice to have a quiet and cozy yet stylish new option the next time I want to make a quick trip. read more

Stayed 3 days on our way to France. Hotel is near Bryant Park and a short walk to Broadway shows. Manny, Daniel and Josh were all very helpful, as were all the staff. They arranged a car to JFK which was right on time. Good breakfasts, nice rooftop bar for drinks and great service at both. Very convenient location. We will definitely return here. read more

This hotel has only been open since November 2022. It is brand new construction, not a renovation. It's beautifully decorated with modern asthetic. The bed was very comfy and it was so quiet in our room, I was amazed. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant Harta which was yummy, and drinks on the rooftop bar which were very tasty. My only complaint would be that there is no coffee in the hotel room. They only had two water bottles which were not complimentary but we're $6 each. This hotel was a short walk to Grand Central and compared to other hotels of this caliber nearby, it was more reasonably priced. We will return for sure. read more

I am in NY often for business and have stayed all over. This hotel is a solid 4 given location, cleanliness, and friendliness of the staff. Room I had here was similar size to most NY hotels (ie small). I did knock it down a star because of the intense "scenting" they diffuse throughout the common areas of the hotel. It smells like an overpowering cheap perfume or like someone else said in another review, a car air freshener. If you've ever been to a Las Vegas strip hotel, that smell the hotels have, it's like that but way more intense. If they could change it to a more neutral fragrance and lessen the intensity, it would be an overall better experience. If that doesn't bother you, then it's a solid hotel option. Otherwise, maybe stay somewhere else. read more

Did a 5-day business/staycation here at the Grayson Hotel. The hotel is beautiful, which has restaurants, a rooftop and other outdoor seating around the hotel. It's located a block over from Bryant park and a few blocks from 34th street so the location is literally in the heart of the city. The hotel room was an average size for a NYC hotel (on the smaller side) but very beautifully decorated and we got a nice room view facing Bryant park. They have a gym as well in the hotel which is very nice and has all the amenities. The gentlemen at the front entrance door were also great and attentive. One CON from our stay and maybe this was just how I interpreted the situation OR the gentleman at the front lobby desk: but we came back in very late one evening around 2am and had a work call at 3am so we asked the lobby staff if they had any hot coffee and the staff replied that the coffee is only served at 7am. I then asked "there is no way that we can get a cup of coffee made for us now?" And then the staff hesitated and then states "okay I can have someone bring you coffee to your room". About 10 minutes later, someone arrives at our room with a huge Nespresso MACHINE that you have to pretty much assemble yourself. (The staff did do as he said he would , but shesh how hard is it to just make two cups and bring it up to us.) We never used the machine. I would expect better service on this request from the hotel but overall our stay was nice and I would come back. read more

This hotel stinks - literally and figuratively. First off, my room actually stinks like a cheap air freshner that swings from the rear view mirror of a cab. I asked if I could have another room and they said they all smell like this. Second, my room is really hot. I called the hotel in the afternoon and told them the A/C was broken (I had the t-stat set at 65 for several hours but the room was btwn 75 and 77 according to the t-stat). I called them and they said they would fix it. I get back 6 hours later and it is still 76 degrees in the room. I call the desk and they say "the engineer we sent said he fixed it." Nope, he did not fix it. They send another engineer who turns the A/C on and off and says we now need to wait 20 mins to see if it starts cooling. 20 mins, at 11:15pm at night. Not a good look for your customer. Avoid this place. read more

I was working on a project during this time and chose Grayson as my lodging preference while in Manhattan after trying out many hotels under the Hyatt umbrella. The Grayson stands out for many reasons but the overarching one is the staff. The people who work here take their job seriously -- because it is. Everyone from the Bellmen ( Justin) to the front desk staff, to the cleaning crews and maintenance crews are pleasant to be around. While my extended time in NY is no longer, I do look forward to a leisurely stay at the Grayson soon. I'm a Hyatt loyalist, so was excited to try this place out when I was on a work trip. The location is great - super close to Bryant Park, the theatre district, the subway and only about 20-25 minute walk to Central Park. I had a standard king room and it was beautifully decorated. The room was pretty small (even for NY rooms), but the bed was comfortable and the linens were perfect. I loved the shower, too. Because the room is so small, there is no room for a mini fridge, ironing board or dresser. There's also no ice machines accessible by guests. (I had purchased some local beers to have in my room and felt badly I had to call housekeeping to bring me ice. ) It would be nice to add a few hooks in the bathroom to hang towels, robes, clothes, etc. The service was impeccable - every team member I encountered was pleasant and quick to help. Traveling as a single for work, I'll definitely choose the Grayson again. However, I probably wouldn't choose here when traveling with my husband...the room is just a little too cozy for two with a week's worth of luggage. read more

Nice boutique hotel under the hyatt brand. Great location! The rooms were nicely decorated and good sized for NYC. They have a great rooftop bar w/ indoor or outdoor seating. The Front Desk staff were all friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! read more

Stayed at the Grayson hotel on 09/28/2024. The hotel was nice and the staff was super nice and helpful. We wanted to be near everything but not in the middle of everything which made the Grayson the perfect place. We only had the standard 2 double bedroom and it was a little smaller than I would have liked but for a short weekend get-away it was great. Room was clean, everything was updated. I would stay again. I would have given it 4.5 stars but it wasn't an option. read more
