This one is by far the best. It's well maintained and VERY clean; both out on the floor and in the locker room. The other members are well educated, friendly, and courteous when lifting weights/doing cardio's. Rarely do you hear grunts, groans and dropping weights. The front counter staff are friendly; both coming and going. The trainers are professional and know what they're doing. I like this facility. How often do I go; 7/7 (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas)

His cycling classes were a major reason I stayed: he didn't just lead spin--he coached cycling, using watts, cadence, training zones and VO max efforts to create challenging, purposeful workouts while making members feel supported and part of a community. He also held himself accountable by doing the workouts alongside us, inspiring everyone with his own training, dedication, and competition experience. Many members considered him a friend because he genuinely cared about and helped build a community around his classes. It's unfortunate that management could let the voices of a few have such a significant impact on the community and an instructor who positively affected so many others. The replacement classes have made the difference clear--it feels more like aerobics on a bike than serious cycling training. Equinox has lost an exceptional instructor and may lose members who trained around his classes. I sincerely hope management brings Zach back. For now, I can no longer recommend La Costa as a place that genuinely cares about its community.

I actually like to workout but it still takes a little self coaxing at times. I like this gym and the staffers are always ready to help. If need be. Unlike some other gym membership experiences I can actually recognize some consistent staffing faces here. So that's nice when there isn't a higher turnover rate as the other gyms. Though I have to agree with some other reviewers. Maintenance of the equipment could be better attended. Especially for such a nice town you'd think they'd utilize the equipment warranties. If they expired maybe it's time for some new equipment to come Maybe. (Included pix of some examples) Just a suggestion or something to look into perhaps. I mainly stick to certain exercises and machines so I haven't utilized Pilates, pool, steam room etc I leave feeling that I accomplished a good workout. I've even gotten a smoothie from time to time as well. When I need a little post workout boost...it's quite refreshing! Let 'em see you sweat! *as per the international La Fitness manager reply. I'd kindly like to point out that it's rather not a "unique", stand alone, or isolated need. It's by my & many other gym members experience here that the majority of equipment might be somewhat functional but a lot of the equipment is outdated and exhibits much wear and tear. For example the older/elderly gentleman next to me had problems with his broken foot strap on the pedal. The staffers should be the ones to put in the requests to the higher ups as they see the issues on the daily. I'm simply informing the consumers and business of my frequent observations and experiences. Thus only took one star away :-) for that. ~B

The councilor said they did not provide helmets but did to the other children after the incident. When I arrived my child had a massive swelling on his forehead and I had to rush him to the Er. The councilor said they accept full responsibility. Several weeks later I got the bill and contacted them for payment and Brittney Lingenfelter, Program Director replied this: Good Morning Michael, Thank you for reaching out. Again, we hope Skylar is feeling better and recovering well. Please note that the YMCA does not carry participant medical liability insurance. If you have additional questions or need further clarification, we're happy to assist where we can. I wrote her back several times with question over the next several week and she has ignored every message with no reply. Very unprofessional of Brittney Lingenfelter to ignore our emails and not address the situation.
