And almost anywhere you go for a simple sandwich has lousy bread - or worse bread with so many preservatives it feels like eating a science experiement. Thanks to my snooty cat I've learned the difference between good food and junk. He is so particular you wouldn't believe it if you saw it. He loves Josey Baker bread and tuna - but only tuna if it is labeled for humans. How he knows the difference I don't know. Trust me, my cat would like all the food served here. It is the real deal. The Japanese Sando was so tasty. I walked in and they were sold out for the Japanese chicken sando, the lady was so quick to response and suggested that if I could wait 3 mins, her coworker would make one for me right away! Wow, that was extraordinary customer service! I would come again just for this. Normally any bakery store, with a line of 2 - 3 customers behind me, they would just say "I am sorry, it is sold out" or "It is not ready yet". She went out of her way and went beyond to create a very welcoming atmosphere for me. Ambiance was very nice: bright, clean and simple. Matcha drink was really good too: not too sweet. This is the bakery that makes its own bread daily inside the Stoneridge . It has been there past 30 years . A few years ago it was under new management. My favorite bread from there is the pain de Champaign bread . It is a French sourdough bread with a special texture and flavor. It was made from regular flour and rye flour. I ordered sandwiches with this bread or sometimes I just buy a loaf home and eat it for breakfast. They can slice it for you per request. You can also buy half loaf ( under $3.60 ) . A Japanese bakery chain - and in the mall too?? I'm so glad I got us to go check this place out. The workers were helpful and so were the signs. One of them stated the top 10 items, which I'm glad I paid attention to choose from. Ended up getting the mango coconut tart, apple pie, berry berry pastry, and saffron raisin!! these were each $3.95-$6, reasonably priced. Somewhat long line weekend afternoon but service was good and the line moved fast. Andersens has always been the spot for fresh bread and goods for me growing up when going to the mall. You had to get the og creamy French or the 4 cheese bread sliced and toasted. Walking around the mall just enjoying it. The taste and quality tastes the same but of course the prices has gone up with inflation. This location is small and gets busy. It's a bit messy in the dining around. They have good sandwiches and soup also. My favorite go to is always the turkey and fresh mozzarella in white. The bread is soft and goes well with the ingredients. However the turkey is processed turkey and very salty. Sandwich comes with a pickle. Overall a good spot for a quick lunch or snack while shopping. read more

The Andersen bakery at the Stoneridge Mall is somewhere we have frequently visited over the years, and sorry to say that the quality has been steadily declining. Half the time when we purchase the goods from here, we are somewhat disappointed with the quality. For example today we got some creamy French ( small French baguette with pastry cream inside) because my family usually enjoys these; and when we got home and open the bag finding the baguettes were barely filled with pastry cream... we even asked with the staff and they assured us the goods were nicely filled with cream. If there is no proper food QA/QC, why would anyone go back as returning customers? read more

Let me just start and say the service was great! Nothing bad with the service at all! Now I don't like to write bad reviews I think this is my first one ever actually but I just want to warn everyone about their sandwiches maybe the meat was already bad when it got shipped in? I don't know but I got a prime rib sandwich with chimichurri and at first it tasted fine! If anything I should've checked the meat first I mean it IS a mall so I don't expect the food to be fresh and bought over from the butcher shop or whatever but it's okay. As I kept eating I noticed there was a fishy smell coming from my sandwich and that became my cue to stop eating and just toss out the other half before I got sick..lol I felt fine throughout my day but later towards the evening my stomach started feeling queasy and I couldn't stop thinking about the sandwich I had earlier and how I hadn't eaten anything else after that but closer to the evening my stomach said NOPE, we not digesting that! and I threw it all up soo just learn from my mistake and perhaps order something from here that isn't beef! I decided to buy a creamy french when I saw Andersen in the mall. The baguette part is fresh and soft enough to not hurt to bite into, and the custard is very sweet. I was impressed by the large selection. They have fruit tarts with berries or mango. They now sell ube brioche and beyond curry pan. I noticed one of the displays has a sign for "curry pan," though, while another one says "beyond curry pan," but when I asked about the beyond curry pan since it appeared to be sold out, the worker seemed confused, and then said that the curry pan is vegetarian anyways, so it was unclear to me if these are two different pastries. Ultimately I didn't end up buying the curry pan since I assumed the beyond curry pan might have beyond meat and that was what I was interested in trying. Every time I go to Stoneridge Mall, I would pass by this store but had never had a chance to try their food. I ordered 2 items: a ham & cheese croissant [$4.50, 4.0 stars], and large cheese danish [$4.95, 4.0 stars]. Both were good, but I've had better. Still, worthy though. Perhaps earlier in the day they would be a tad better. People have complained mostly for the service. I went after lunch, 2pm, and was no issue I had...very nice and speedy actually. Last minute trip to Stoneridge, waiting for the sock store to open. Carbs sounded good. There wasn't much of a line but they seemed to be sbort staffed. When it came for us to order, we ended with the Garlic Cheese Bread (as it was almost sold out) and the ube brioche (because I always get anything with ube ). Added a butternut squash soup because it sounded nice and also an iced coffee. To my surprise, the breads were quite tasty. Fluffy, fresh, and flavorful. The 4 Fs. The soup well balanced and piping hot. Coffee although not the freshest still satisfied my craving, saving me a trip to go somewhere else. Despite the busyness, the staff were attentive and stayed the course, not seeming flustered. The only downside was that the inside sitting area was unkept. So i came by here yesterday since Ive been wanting to try their things. Around 5:15pm I grabbed a pesto turkey sandwich, strawberry matcha , & two little pastries... well an hour later i started feeling violently ill, developed a fat headache and around 10pm i was vomiting like crazy! Im talking about flying out my nose and my mouth to the point i was throwing up blood. All i was tasting in my vomit was that sandwich so i knew it was from that. This morning i still feel very ill and my stomach hurts SO bad. My husband made a point that they make shit and keep it sitting on display for several hours throughout the day and i should have known better smh. Never again read more

I love, love, love the cream cheese walnut bread ($3.75) at Andersen Bakery! I usually get their bread at another location, and had to get the cream cheese walnut bread when I passed by while walking around Stoneridge mall! The bread is so soft and fluffy with bits of walnuts that give it a nice crunch. The cream cheese is so smooth and creamy, with a hint of sweetness. The staff was really nice and quick to take my order. The only downside is that they don't take Apple Pay, but they do take card! read more

Andersen Bakery is so famous in San Francisco Bay Area. This location in Stoneridge Shipping Mall is one of my favorites. They're on the upper level between JC Penney and Macy's. I can smell the baked goods in front of the store. It makes me want to eat their yummy croissants and pastries whenever I'm in front of one of their bakeries. I'm a croissant lover. I love to try croissants when I see them, no matter where I'm and how full my stomach feels! Lol! The croissants look and taste good here! They seem to have a line in front of the cashier all the time on the weekends. The dining area is very crowded too. I used to LOVE this place - but now I will probably avoid it. Today I got the Farmer's Chicken Salad ( my usual favorite ) and the chicken salad was SO OLD TASTING that it makes me squirm. It actually had a paste-like consistency and the chunks of apple were visibly discolored The only saving grace was the butternut soup, which was really tasty I had three bites from my sandwich and had to trash the rest - and I truly hate wasting food, but it was that bad. Now the sandwich bites I did eat are sitting unhappily at the bottom of my stomach, complaining pitifully, " WHY?!? What were you thinking ?!? YUCK!!!!!" What did I just do????? I went to Stoneridge Mall to redeem my coupon at another store but ended up getting so much goodies from this bakery . Social distance is practiced and mask is required ( well you are required to wear mask before entering the mall). Wow.....April 5th-11th is a PUFF WEEK so 3 puffs for $10.50 only but cannot choose though. It's only what they specify. I bought 2 set of those, half loaf of Milk Shokupan bread and a loaf of cranberry walnut sourdough bread which they can slice for you. My favorite is ......... cranberry walnut sourdough bread :) they bake it with a lot of cranberry and walnut which make it taste so good. I love it....... On the way out I saw one of the employees were making roasted tomato and mozzarella cheese sandwich and I almost went back to get it Nah I didn't....... Just decided to grab a quick snack here, and ended up getting an almond croissant. It's so random that they have a bakery in the mall! The almond croissant was light and crispy. It had slivers of charred almonds and a dusting of powdered sugar. The croissant also had an almond paste filling that was pretty good. Service was nice! read more

Slow, slow, slow, yes I did come during Black Friday but that doesn't give an excuse for the not so great food. The basil bread is terrible and dry. From the window, I thought it'd be great and filled with cheese but that really was not the case. The jalapeño is much better. The sauce in there is good and I had to dip the basil bread into it in order for it to be edible. I grew up visiting Andersen Bakery- so now, every time I visit the mall I find myself feeling a sense of nostalgia when I pass by. I decided to give the bakery a try as an adult. Immediately, I noticed the service was not welcoming like it used to be, it took a long while to place my order, and an even longer while to purchase a water bottle. The sandwich I ordered was alright, nothing "wowed" me- and I found it quite dry. There is definitely potential for the shop, and I hope with the remodel that it has improved. read more

We came here today, a Monday when they just opened with just one person waiting in line after us.Lady who took our order is already in a bad mood snapping back at me when she asked me what kind of bread I want.
