We moved a 5 BR home from Oakland to Davis. With recommendations from trusted sources, we chose 3 vendors for quotes. I very impressed with Karl Anderson's knowledge, care and attention to every detail when he made our quote that I knew his team would do the best job. I wasn't prepared that his quote was $2000 and $7000 less than his competitors. Our move took 3 days, and throughout the team was super-considerate and careful. At the end, literally nothing was damaged except a plate that I dropped while unpacking, which I found totally astounding (having used professional movers seven other times and always sustaining damage). The jaw-dropper was that when they presented the final bill, the job went faster than expected and they charges $1800 less than the quote. We have done two local moves to storage recently. They plan well and come equipped. We had not done a move in the past 35 years. Karl patiently worked with us "newbies" to plan the move. We received a not to exceed estimate. The cost came in under estimate. The crews are capable and careful, and very efficient. Used two different crews and both were just fine. We have not pulled our items from storage but we do not anticipate any damage, given the care that went into the move. I recently used Anderson Bros. for a small move from one location to another location in Rossmoor. The move involved moving a few pieces of furniture plus relocating a few items inside each location. The company offers a 3-hr minimum rather than a 4-hr minimum like many companies - perfect for a small local move. Heath and Mitchell were very pleasant to work with and were fast, efficient and very careful. The communication with the office in planning the move was great. I had a very complicated move--much of my furniture was staying with the house, some of the contents were going to storage and the rest to a condo in SF (from Moraga). I was onsite for both the packing and the move. I had physically segregated items in the various categories. The result was horrendous. Some of what was to stay in the house was packed. Storage items were mixed in with stuff to the condo. I've had to go through every item and box in my storage unit and repack several boxes in my condo. And after the move and the house was cleaned, items were found that were left behind. I am now missing expensive kitchen equipment and have a damaged mirror and desk. They have been totally unresponsive-do not return phone calls, do not call when promised, haven't sent claim form, etc. etc. read more

Heath and his crew were nothing but professional when it came to moving my parents from the Bay Area to Northern California. They were very accommodating and had to separate the staged furniture from the furniture to be loaded and were very patient throughout this process. They brought and packed boxes and asked questions during the packing in order to ensure everything was going the way it was supposed to. The following day the unloading process was more of the same with questions about what items needed to go where in order to make sure they ended up in the proper rooms. Mr. Anderson came out and checked our fragile furniture even pointing out problems with the assembly from the last mover. He was very helpful. We had some very fragile , old items and lots of inlaid wood. It was handled without so much as a nicki. They were fast and did a difficult move going down narrow hallways with large furniture. The staff was very helpful. We were hundreds under the estimate. I prefer to be high on the estimate rather than have them take short cuts rushing to load and unload items. He gave us advance notice about cash. no problem a cashiers check to care of it. I only wish I had used them in the past.. Best investment we made into our new house was competent movers! read more

We used Anderson Bros Movers in a move last Saturday and they were fantastic. They delivered boxes and packing material to our apartment three weeks early so we could be ready to go. This company did a stellar job moving our family of 5 from a 2-story house in Walnut Creek to a 1-story house in Moraga. Every step of the process was perfect. The actual amount we paid was much less than the estimate (the estimate was very thorough). On moving day, every one of the movers (5 guys & 2 trucks) were professional, courteous, hard working & quick! We had 3 cribs to break down, move and build back up & they organized all the parts so they wouldn't get mixed up and easily put them back together. One of the other companies said they wouldn't even touch the cribs. All our furniture was wrapped and protected nicely. No damage to anything at all. I hope to not move again for a very long time, but we will absolutely be using this company again. We got 4 other quotes but are so happy we went with Anderson Bros. Our real estate agent referred us to Anderson Bros Movers. He said he had personally used them twice and had a positive experience each time. We decided to contract them for our move from Concord to Walnut Creek and we were not disappointed! Before the move, Carl came to our house to give us a quote. We liked that the final bill would not be over the quote (it actually came in a little less than the quote!). Our movers arrived on time and were very careful with all our belongings. In total three guys showed up (I believe their names were Lawrence, Darion, and Jordan - I'm sorry if I got it wrong) and they were super professional and friendly. First they picked up all our belongings and even packed all the clothes in our closet! When they reached our destination, they checked in with us to see where we wanted all our furniture and boxes to go to. I like that our stuff wasn't just dumped inside the house. Everything was done in orderly fashion and they put our furniture back together. Moves can be stressful, but having Anderson Bros Movers move our stuff helped make this move less stressful! Really BAD experience. I found their practices to be unfair and deceptive and customer service... well, I am not sure whether they know what it is. We had to move within two days and they were the first company we talked to. They urged us to sign the order since this is such a "last minute move". We placed the order at 7PM on Tuesday and cancelled it first thing Wed morning (within 1 business hour), and they still want half of what they quoted as a cancellation fee! The reasons for cancellation - we had two other quotes that were MUCH less expensive, and Anderson Bros was the only company that required two days to move two bedroom apartment worth of furniture (we didn't have couches or dining room to move, just basically bedrooms). The person answering the phones doesn't know anything, nor can provide any information. All she said when I called to cancel is "OK, I will tell Mr. Anderson". OK means OK in my world, but in this company it means "OK you can cancel and we will still invoice you for the services we don't provide". When I called to complain I was yelled at and hung up on. Never seen anything like this before. read more

Within a week, one of the owners called and left a nasty message because we hadn't let them know what our decision was. Prior to this move, we had never used a commercial home movers service. Anderson Bros Movers was recommended by our realtor as a top-level company so we made an appointment to interview Karl Anderson, the owner. After surveying our home and it's contents,and noting the details of the destination (our new home) he gave us a very detailed estimate and outlined the mechanics of the move, and told us what we could do ourselves to save money as well as make the move go as smoothly as possible. We were so impressed by the professionalism of Karl and his estimate methods, his helpful advice, and the letters of recommendation on their website, we chose his company. Horrible, dishonest, sloppy service! We had a simple move of a few large pieces of furniture (beds, dressers) from one house to another 1/2 mile apart. One of the head people in the office gave a verbal quote of $600, and even had their people come take a look at our place prior to moving. When the movers came, they assessed the items, and quoted 4-5 hours for the entire job. They ended up taking 8 hours, $1500, and charged us for a 1 hour lunch break, plus multiple shorter breaks during the day. At one point, when they said they were taking a "water break", I came out to check on them, and their truck was nowhere to be found! After I payed for the job, they admitted to breaking off a chunk of our solid wood cabinet. Despite their "insurance policy", they refused to pay for the damages, but offered to have someone come and "glue it back on". After they left, I discovered they had completely shattered one end of our solid wood baby crib (but they did not mention this). Spoke to 2 managers the next day, who were very rude and clearly in the business of cheating customers, wouldn't listen to any of the complaints. Unbelievably dishonest, cheating, incompetent company from top to bottom. read more
