I was initially referred to this company by another that couldn't take on the job. Anthony, in admin, was perfectly decent to deal with, though I was shocked at being asked for $350 simply to develop a cost estimate on a simple, one-window replacement. Encouraged by the solid reviews here on Yelp, however, I agreed to the earliest inspection time, which was about a month out. The person who completed the inspection was also perfectly decent, looked at the job site for around half an hour and dropped the cost of the price estimate to $250. I saw this sum as worthwhile based on the assumption that I would receive a fair and reasonable quote on what would turn out to be good work. Not so much. I was quoted an estimate of around $7500 to replace one 6' x 2' window and some slightly rotted framing. This not a credible or fair-minded amount based on the materials and work and I can only presume they didn't really want the work. Based on this experience, I pretty much feel scammed into paying the upfront cost estimate and would highly recommend avoiding this company, particularly for minor window work. read more

ADWM is a family owned and family run business. They take pride in their work and are friendly and responsive. My 20 year old stucco townhome windows needed replacement. ADWM quoted a competitive price. I was anxious due the scale of the project and unknowns of 'what lay underneath', I.e. dry rot. The crew arrived on time, set up scaffolding and dug in. The project duration was 7 working days. Progress was evident each day. The lead, Jorge, explained the stages of the work including a couple problem areas in the exterior wall. They not only installed windows, but also did some remedial repairs. Everything exceeded my expectations. Jared, Jorge, Jason and the others were super -- friendly and professional. Back office manager Pam was always available to answer my emails and calls. I wasn't looking forward to this project, but ADWM made it a breeze. read more

The company was stumped by the construction of the door and said they couldn't figure out a way to replace it. Deplorable customer service. Some of the worst I've ever experienced in Oregon. Mediocre quality work. And when I brought the following information to their attention...NO RESPONSE. Not even an apology for their rude technician and shotty repair for the work they didn't do right the first time. Avoid at all costs! It took several attempts on my part to even get Gordon out for a quote. While he was thorough, the quote was much higher than competitors. We decided to go with your company, though, due to the reviews and appearance of expertise. Once we made the decision, it was equally as difficult to get an appointment for the work. Much like when I was attempting to get a quote, I had to make several attempts to no avail. Calling didn't help, as either no one answered or the voice mail did not belong to the person who I was trying to reach. Pamela, the office assistant, was very nice, so I was patient to this point, accepting the excuse you've had a change in employees and phone companies. We had Jared and Alex at our house to do the work. They were fine while they were here and did several hours of work to get our door repaired. Unfortunately, I was not here when they left. If I was, I would have noticed the small area at the bottom of the door where the weather stripping was not sealing with the door. Light can easily be seen coming through the area, so I'm not sure why they didn't notice it. By the time I came home, they were gone, check in hand. I called Pamela and she said Jared would come back out this morning around 8am. By 8:30, I had not heard anything, so I called him and had to leave a voice mail. When he called back, he indicated it would be about 45 minutes to an hour to get here. It was almost 9am by that time. During that conversation, I questioned Jared about why our door handle is sticking far more than it was prior to the work. He immediately became impatient and rude, stating he already explained it yesterday. I told him, twice, I was not here when they left yesterday, so I wanted him to explain. He said, "I am trying to, if you'd let me finish my sentence." After spending over $800 and all of the hassle of even getting people here to do the work, I would expect to be treated, as as a paying customer, with much more respect. There was absolutely no reason for Jared to be impatient. If anything, I am the one who should have been rude at any of the multiple times I've been inconvenienced by your company, including the work not being done completely before they left the job. Although the work was (almost) done, I'm displeased with the customer service. I realize these guys have been around a long time and have technical expertise, but there are a lot of companies that are capable of doing the work well, so customer service is what makes one stand out from the others...for better or worse. Overall, this was one of those experiences where the customer service was high quality and consistent throughout the process. First, they returned my call promptly, the next business day (I called in the evening after they were closed). Second, I was able to take pictures of my antique door spring and they diagnosed the problem (virtually). Third, they had someone come out the following business day to look at my door. Beforehand, they helped me source the hardware for the door to keep costs down, and the part was in stock and ready for me to pick up on the way to meet the technician that day. We had this company repair our old (probably 60s era) slider with a bump in the track that has been bugging us since we moved in a year ago. After sending them some pictures, they came back with an estimate and called yesterday to see if they could work on the project TODAY! They arrived promptly, worked for about 6 hours and charged their exact estimate. And now the slider works perfectly! They even installed the old screen door, which hadn't been on for who knows how long. They answered all our questions knowledgeably and politely, and cleaned up well. It's hard finding good contractors for small jobs, and I'm glad I came across Anderson Door & Window Mechanics. I had an oak front door and side windows where I wanted to replace the clear glass with patterned/frosted glass. And while they were at it, I wanted to replace the bottom door weather seal and have some trim work done to cover earlier improper insulation. They did the job just as I wanted and it looks great. They were good to work with, from initial ballpark estimate based on your phone photos, to a complete and formal contract, to getting the job done. Very poor customer service. Took over 2 weeks to schedule an appointment to come look at the job. In less than 24 hours before the scheduled work, they called and advised that the bid I received 2 weeks ago was wrong, they "completely messed up", "apologize for wasting your time". Sent me a contract with a bid that was 3-10 times higher than the original. I suggested they adjust the bid to compensate for the poor service and last minute change to the price. You have to love a company that is so good with customer service. They were prompt with retuning my calls and emails. We needed one of the panes in one of our sliding glass doors replaced and the track on the other sliding glass door needed replace, along with the rollers on the doors. They kept me informed, as one of the windows got delayed and they had to send it back because of a flaw, but no big deal. This was the only company I found that would replace my "wavy" track of my sliding glass door, instead of insisting that I replace the whole door. Very honest and just plain nice. This is the second time I've used Anderson to repair cranks on wood casement windows and locks on wood sliding doors. Our windows are original to the house - about 25 years old. From the first call, they knew what the problems were and were able to providing the necessary parts - even with the age of the windows and doors! The ladies in the office were delightful to work with on scheduling and contracting, and the technician, Casey, was professional, professional and personable. He explained exactly what he was doing, why we had a problem, and after he was finished he made sure everything was working to perfection. After three months and several calls by me during which they renewed their promises to me, I called again today and was told that the needed part was not available from the manufacturer. Upon hanging up, I called the door manufacturer directly and have ordered the needed hardware. What was Anderson doing all those weeks and why did they lie to me about the parts? For some time, we've been needing to replace our tired, rotting, sagging, 28 year old French doors, and contacted Anderson Door for a quote. Gordon was polite, professional, and thorough in his initial inspection. The initial quote was reasonable, but we all half-expected that some additional work might be needed once the project got underway--and we were right, as there was significant rotting of the door framing and sub-floor. So did we spend more than anticipated? Yes, but the quality of workmanship, attention to detail, finished product, and professionalism of the crew made it all worthwhile. Office assistant (Pamela) was helpful throughout the process, and kept us informed of any issues.
