Stopped here today with the grandkids after we flew in from Florida because I wanted to eat somewhere I have never been before and I really like roast beef. We ordered a large roast beef sandwich, turkey sandwich and two kids mac-n-cheese meals. Both the turkey and roast beef sandwich were very fresh. The roast beef didn't have a lot of flavor but was very moist and fresh. We did not order any drinks or sides with our sandwiches and the bill came to almost $50. The people who took our order were very friendly and verified our order was correct. The service was slow but the food was hot. The drink options were a brand I have never heard of before made with real cane sugar, except for Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. I tasted each of the options and was not a fan of them. so today I ordered the size roast beef sandwich, which was $14.99 and then because I have celiac I got a gluten-free bun for $2.99. By the time I cashed out the sandwich was just under $20 for one item. that is so beyond ridiculous. I can't even believe anybody goes here anymore, and I surely won't be. First of all they twice as much further gluten-free bond everybody else does. You can get a full-size gluten-free sub at Wegmans, which would equal four of these for $20. Forget about if I would've added fries which are not gluten-free and a drink, I would've been looking at close to $30. I really think people should stop to places that are overcharging like this and then maybe they'll think about decreasing their prices. And I will say normally they're very busy and they were not today. Maybe people are finally catching stay home or go somewhere else. I can get chipotle, core life, Panera, for way less money and actually feel full unlike I did at Anderson's. Please people stop going here. Spend your money where it's more affordable. I grew up with Anderson's... So after getting my car washed I made a break for Anderson's... Orderd to beef on weck.... Unfortunately, it's not served on a Kimmelwick roll. They are using ( most likely Castanza's ) brioche bun with a bunch of salt and a few Kimmel wick seeds sprinkled on top .. and by few, I mean FEW..... No crunch to the roll, just doughy brioche... We drove from Omaha, NE to Niagara explored some state parks in NY and then to NYC. We stopped here. The food was excellent - great high quality roast beef. They had black raspberry custard and it was amazing. My kids enjoyed the cane sugar soda on the fountain. Sad I won't have this place again for a very long time. When you first walk into the store, you are immediately hit with the sweet aroma of custardy goodness. I was pretty overwhelmed with the different kinds of sundaes and frozen custards to choose from. I ended up getting the 5-frozen custard sampler. It's basically 5 scoops of any frozen custard you want. I picked chocolate brownie, white chocolate raspberry, graham cracker, Cookie dough, and the Sponge Candy. My favorite is the chocolate brownie :) It had really generous chunks of brownies inside :) super chewy and not too sweet. The portion size was HUGE. I shared the 5-scoop sampler with a friend. We also bought the .75 cents sprinkles that come in those 4 oz container cups. After a good 30 minutes, my friend and I devoured the entire sampler. $7 was a pretty decent price. However, I wish the sampler came in a bowl instead of a plastic plate that looked like a cover from a reusable container. The service was a ehh. It seemed like the workers were not loving their jobs. The woman on the phone when I called to order seemed a bit frazzled. She needed to re-enter my credit card info a couple of times. It took nearly 15 minutes after I arrived and called for my order to be brought out to me (and to be noted.... this was not a fresh-made order.... the items just needed to be grabbed from the cooler, bagged, and carried out).... and there were no other cars to be seen. How can you pass up Anderson's?! This is the closest location to my house, and therefore the one I visit most. Full disclosure, I worked here for several years when I was in high school and college. The menu at every Anderson's is the same, minus some variation in custard and ice cream flavors. This place is no exception. I will note that it only has one special custard flavor at once - some other locations have two at a time. For a long time, the décor was dated. There has been a recent update, so it's not so bad any more. It's still not as "nice" inside as some of the suburban locations, but at least it's not like walking into the 90s (which are coming back into style...maybe they should have waited on the mini-upgrade!). Overall, if you want a taste of iconic Buffalo fast-caj, this is a good place to start! You can't go wrong with beef on weck (Carl's choice if you're feeling extra hungry, Carl Jr. if you just want a taste). Ditto for cajun fries with cheese (they're curly and coated in deliciousness).
