John did a tuneup on my bike. He was very nice, knowledgeable and explained everything completely. My bike has never ridden better.

First off, there was no professionalism in this guy, Chris, who I asked for some assistance in getting my daughter's brakes adjusted on her BMX bike. I let him know that my wife and I tried to adjust them to work better but we just couldn't get it to where my daughter would have an easier time squeezing both brakes and stopping. He then went on to say to the extent of, that the bike is crappy yet he would still be able to adjust them. HELLO??!! Who says that?! Might I add that my daughter who is 12 is standing next to me and the guy Chris deems it necessary to speak his mind to include the negative connotation on what he thinks of the bike. I was going to give this guy and Co. my business but I thought about it and said no and walked out. I know that the $12 you quoted me isn't going to impact your business any but I hope this yelp review does and lends credit to that one person who is thinking about going to you folks to support local businesses since you're like the only bike shop in town and sways their decision to go elsewhere. I didn't think it was necessary for you to say what you said. Be professional in dealing with customers and keep your nasty comments to yourself next time and provide a service to the community in a decent manner. read more

I went in looking for a bike tool and the old dude with the white hair said there is a lot. I said well I have this and need that. He said I don't sell them. I have plenty for me to use but not for sale. I said ok thanks and started to walk away. Then I went back to ask how do I know which one I need. He looked annoyed cause it was 20 min before closing. He said just bring in your bike. I guess this dude has never heard the saying about the fish. I didn't want him to do it for me I wanted to do it my self and learn. I've been there before and the other gentleman with the normal colored hair has always been great. I go to them as I'd rather help little shops like this than give more money to big companies. I went to another store named "world of wheels" in Modesto. They had NO PROBLEM explaining to me what I need to do and how to do ot as well as selling me the correct tool. Took my dads cannondale here for some repairs which I thought would be expensive. Chris quoted us around $30 to fix the sprocket replace the brake line and put on a new chain. That is an excellent price I honestly don't know how they can afford to stay in business with prices like that. This is one of the last real bike shops around that doesn't rip people off. Real honest people and they have a great selection of bikes too. 5/5 would definitely give them my business again. read more

Awesome shop. I was in the market for a 24" bike for my 10yr old son when I checked this place out. Don't judge the store from the out side. They have a ton of bikes majority of them being BMX. We walked in and were greeted. I explained what I was looking for. The owner showed me his stock, explained the differences, and then left us alone. I was able to talk to my boy and browse for a good half hour before we decided on his SE SoCal Flyer. My son is so proud and happy with his bike. They have SE Bikes. I give this place 0 stars. They are of NO HELP. If my kids go there and ask for a part they are RUDE and don't even bother to help. It's a shame how we have to go out of town to other Bike shops to get what we need. I would rather spend my money on a place that is friendly then Rude. Great shop. Horrible parking lot. Really really horrible. This was made worse by people who's idea of parking is similar to throwing darts blindfolded. With their feet. While drunk. The shop is still worth it. There are no creature comforts in the shop like chairs or a fan and the person running the shop (the owner?) seemed far friendlier with the regulars rather then a lowly new customer like myself. He was fast though in replacing a bike tube and there was no up selling at all. I had to ask about protective measures. I ended up paying well below what I had anticipated and spent much less time then I thought I would. I will most certainly be back. read more

I really wish I could didn't even have to give a star. Went in to get a quote for an assembly . A older man with a pony tail comes up from the back . I was not even greeted . I said hello I came to get a assembly quote (showing a picture on my cell )on a ... just got completely cut off . His reply was Nope nope nope !!!! Poor customer service . It pretty sad I know this shop has been here since the 80's I remember my dad took my mini 10 speed to get assemble here . Not sure if it's the same owners or perhaps a different generation . These guys are the go-to spot for us and our bikes! They even catch things we forget to mention, like my pedals were falling apart! They always get things done in about half the time they quote! Honestly, I don't think they charge enough to stay in business, but I'm not complaining as long as they DO stay in business! Went in to order a front rim for my Schwinn. Brought in the old one to show him. He said he could get the same rim. When I went back a week later, the rim was a different color. Guy said they could only get black or silver, not a combo like mine. I took it home thought "I don't want to ride my bike with 2 different color rims" so the next day I asked the guy why he couldn't get the same rim. He said parts were hard to get due to the pandemic and all he could get was a black or silver rim. I said, you told me you could get the same rim and he denied saying that to me. The other dark haired guy in the back said "you don't get it" as if I am being insulted and not treated like a customer. He gave me back my money and smartly said "good luck finding your rim". I love a good challenge so I went online and searched Schwinn parts and came up with Pacific Cycles. They had my exact rim for $16 with free shipping and it was here in 5 days. Maybe Anderson Bikes should "GET IT NOW". These guys are overwhelmed with work and don't appear to enjoy their business. They sure aren't customer focused. read more

My family has been going to this place for years for bikes and bike service. Their prices for bikes are not cheap, but they do carry all the parts to fix up a bike which is why we continued to go there, even though Andersons always has stray cats running around and the entire place smelled like cat pee. We also liked supporting small businesses like this one. My dad went to Andersons to inquire about a part for a bike that was ordered 5 months ago. The owner estimated the part would take 2 months to get there when it was first ordered, which was fine. Now we are getting to 5 months and no word on the part. My dad then went there to ask about the part. The owner was very condescending and rude, implying that my dad should already be aware that getting parts nowadays is hard and making my dad feel stupid for asking the question. My dad tried to understand why the owner would be so rude and reason with him, but instead, the owner ripped up my dad's order paper and said he did not want his business. There was another customer there that witnessed it and even mentioned to my dad that the owner could have handled the entire situation better. My family has been loyal customers of Andersons, spent thousands of dollars there, and has referred many people to them. Well not anymore. Loyal customers don't mean anything to them especially when the owner is having a "bad day". read more

Had to give just a 1. Came into the store wanting to contribute to local business and also assuming it was going to be extremely friendly. Customer service was horrible. I honestly do not think we even got a hello. Walked in and had to say hello first and then he replied with "Oh you'd like your tired fixed? $5.00...". Although it was only $5.00, it was the worst $5 I have spent. Came back to pick up the tire, it wasn't even ready. He took it to the back to fix, while we waited for the new tubing to be installed. Not only did it take 1.5+ hrs to fix, the next day when I grabbed my tire w/its new 'tube' in it to install it back onto my bicycle, it was completely flat. I tried putting more air into the tubing, still flat... I went to Black Sheep Cycles in Stockton, in which I would totally recommend(off West and March Ln). They took the tube out, only to find that the tube Anderson's had installed had an apparent hole in it. They checked the tire and re-installed a tubing that DOES hold hair. Not only were they friendly, but also informed us on how to replace the tubing ourselves, and other cycling knowledge. I'm not too sure if we went into Anderson's bike store on his/their bad day, but it's a bike store, I'm not returning to. read more

This shop is fuckin' great in my book.......I walked in here with low expectations based on the other couple of reviews. however, I knew exactly what I needed & it saw a simple, cheap part, so it didn't really matter if the reviews for this place sucked. I must have gone to a different Anderson's bike shop because i was very pleased with the service that i received as well as the price i paid. I walked in thinking i needed a new screw to attach my left crank to my bottom bracket. the guy in the back came out when i walked in, greeted me promptly, was very friendly and offered to take a look at my detached crank arm. Turns out I was wrong about what I needed and he kindly explained why he could sell me that screw but I would continue to experience the same issues. He showed me how the wear to the actual crank arm was the issue and he happened to have a matching replacement one on hand. He sold me both the screw and the crank arm & installed the replacement parts on my bike for a grand total of ~$17. I was back out and on my way in less than 20 minutes. . read more

Their turnaround times aren't real fast, because they're a small hometown business with limited help, but they've always been honest with me up front about how long it would take for my bikes to be ready. Also, their prices are the best I've found. Chris, the owner, is on the quiet side, but he's always been friendly and given good information to me. I have to use my bike to commute to work. I average 1600 miles a year. Anderson's has helped me. keep my bike working for three years. I do my own work on the bike. They supply parts and help me do some work when I don't have specialized tools. They have always been friendly and go out of their way to be helpful, even when their isn't a sale involved. If you have a high end bike, you probably want one of the upscale shops in the area. But, if you want to keep your family's bikes working well, this is your place. They also have BMX bikes and a BMX bike club out of the shop. read more

Just picked up the rims for my 21-speed touring bike. New tires, new tubes, and they did an excellent job of tuning the rims. If I could, I'd give them a 4.9 -- 1/10th off for not calling to tell me the rims were ready. Otherwise, a great job. read more

When I called, now a week later or more ( no call) the man on the phone got a -major attitude- with me when I said I was hoping for a phone call to tell me at least whats wrong with it -he claims he never told my son he would be calling us - uhh how would we know what needs to be repaired ? went in looking for a bicycle tube. the man took my tube and as he was looking for the writing on the tube to determine size, a phone call came in and the person helping me answered the phone. i waited as he discussed whatever the customer was calling about (about 5 minutes). although i found this less than ideal customer service, i silently waited. as the phone call ended i watched as he hung up and started walking toward me when another phone call came in. again,he began to head back to the phone, this time i finally said something. i said that it wasnt right that i had to wait for these phone calls. the jerk off got very angry and came to me and threw the tube at me. and told me he doesnt have it. my phone started recording and i told him that i know he never even located the size and never checked his stock. he was beligerant and vulgar ef this and ef that. thats when i asked him why he or his employee werent wearing masks and suddenly he got very freindly. this place is horrible. terrible customer courtesy and they dont care for your business. and i got it all on tape. read more

I love my bike. It is my transportation, my hobby, and okay this sounds stupid but here goes: my friend. When my bike needed repair beyond my expertise (busted axle, hey its a jungle out there) I felt uneasy but i handed my baby over to these guys anyway. Boy howdy am I glad I did! Less than 24 hours later I was howling down the road again new axle a-spinnin and shiny new bearings bearing and stuff, at a price so crazy cheap I am still not sure it wasnt a mistake! That was a few months ago and my bike is still awesome and I have brought my son's bike in since and they will be my go-to guys. Good work, good prices, quick turnaround. Dig it. read more
