Snakeskin cowboy boots is what I needed and these craftsmen made me custom boots just for my feet only. First off this is a very tiny boutique store on Sunset Strip located just off Sunset & Fairfax next door to The Griddle Cafe. Parking is in the rear so don't bother paying for parking on the street (save your quarters) and use the back entrance. However if you come through the front there's a small area for you to sit. So I enter the building and explain in detail to the gentleman my needs. He explained the process of building a mold of & measuring my foot. I then picked a heal, shoe tip shape and how far the boot went up my leg. I chose more of an ankle cut boot so it wouldn't bunch up my pants. We reviewed many snake skins and settled on rattlesnake for my boots. Now the cobbler comes out and measures my feet and draws a map of both for design. A few weeks later I come back in for a review and then a few weeks later my boots were done. Now the price for all this was $1500 but I have a pair of boots no one else owns. Side note this is the shoemaker of the Hollywood elite. Had no clue when I decided to come in but the make stage boots for KISS ( The Band ) , Lemmy of Motörhead, all of Princes stage boots. If your in the back take a look at the wall of foot molds and it's a who's who of celebrity's feet. I'm beyond satisfied with my boots and will get more made up. This place is a hidden gem. It' s unique because they also custom make shoes. You know like a bespoke suit in Seville Row in London. If Lady Gaga, KISS band members, among other celebrities trust them to custom make their shoes for tours and daily wear so can you. Andre is super informative, kind and cares about his customers. When you arrive he evaluates your shoes and then proceeds to explain the process of repair. This is helpful because my experience at other establishment has been radically different. I give them my shoes pay and return when they are done. It's hard because at times what you expected is not delivered in terms of the quality of repair. If I could give half a star I would. Not only did they take over 10 days to repair the shoes (and then another 3 because they screwed them up) but these pictures show what 2 minutes of walking on the shoes did to the "new soles" they supposedly "fixed". When I first got them back, the new soles were orange (Hello? Louboutin's are RED) and I was not happy at all....so I brought them back to be fixed. The guy at the front said that they could dye the sole the right Louboutin red and that it would take 2-3 days to do it. I picked them up 3 days later and wore them for the first time last night. I wore them for a total of 2 minutes....and the pictures show what they look like now. read more

OMG! This place is shoe heaven and Imelda Marcos would surely be their patron saint if only she wasn't probably going to be burning in Hell someday! This is THE place in LA to get custom footwear, (KISS, among many others, including royalty the world over, does) to have a pair of your old faves resurrected, or to have someone else's botched job salvaged. I opted for the latter, as I found some gorgeous Cole Haan tall clog boots on the Zappos web site for only $250. (Believe me, that is a bargain price for a pair of brand new CH anything, much less boots). However, when I received the boots in the mail, it didn't take long to figure out why they were priced so low. The calf of just one boot alone was cut large enough to fit me and two other people, plus a couple of children too. Yuck! They were so deformed! But the over all style of the boot was so gorgeous and the workmanship exquisite, so I got the bright idea of having them sized down by a shoe repair place. Man, am I ever glad that Iive only a mile from Andre's. They did a beautiful job taking the calves in, and they even pre-punched holes along the seam so that I could add a row of whip-stitching myself to give them an extra special custom look. They had the job done in three days and it was perfect! Now when I wear the boots, I literally get stopped in my tracks by strangers wanting to know where I got them. Another thing Andre's does beautifully is to distress leather. So if you have a brand new pair of somethings that you want to appear to have been handed down from Jack Kerouac , then this is your place. Absolute GENIUS!!!! I took my problem heels to the two best repair places in LA, and one recommended I bring them here. The work was done amazingly well and in just a couple days. I had 2 pairs of high heel (5"+) boots with f-ed up heels that tilted forward. This made them very uncomfortable and hard to walk in. Eventually the heel broke. So I took them in and asked if they could adjust the angle so they were straighter. Pasquale's said it's impossible. The other place sent me here. Andre said "no problem!" best $80 I ever spent (for both, and these shoes cost well north of $200) I also took a pair of Gucci metal-heel stilettos, you know the ones that were an instant classic back in like 1996. The heel snapped off for the 2nd time. The first time, I'd taken them back to Gucci in NYC and they promptly repaired them for free. Apparently, Gucci Beverly Hills doesn't use the same shoe repair and hates me. Because they charged me $20 just to do an estimate, and never called to let me know the shoes were back, un-repaired. So I took them to Andre. He's waiting on the double-end replacement screw which I could clearly see was all that needed to be replaced. I love Andre and all his talented elves. If I could marry them all I would. As soon as I can afford it, I'm having him copy my favorite boots. read more

Been coming here for YEARS, because I love their work. I expect prices to go up with time, but the cost for simple fixes have now become out of control! You want custom shoes? This is the place. Have a difficult issue to fix? This is the place. Don't come here to replace the little heel cap on your pumps, to have your suede cleaned and protected, or to recolor the scuffs on your shoes. Gary has always been delightful, but the other man working the front desk who is rough around the edges and doesn't know how to be kind and appreciative of long times customers. I brought in a pair of Dolce VIta suede and leather heels that had been physically abused by rough nights out and an Alexander Wang bag that Barney's told me could never be repaired back to it's original color because "that's just how leather ages". Forget ever having damaged shoes or bags. This place will take your belongings and make them like the first day you bought them. This is NO exaggeration. I had a pair of boots resoled, and one of the pair re-zippered, here. For $150 the work was truly impeccable, and pricey. Because of the beautiful work and pleasant, timely service, I asked them for an estimate to work on another pair. My trusty, very worn, old cowboy boots are beginning to bust apart. These boots were $280 new, and they told me the only way they'd touch them was to basically rebuild the pair with mostly new materials for gulp-inducing $400. Hmmm. It seems I'll be rockin' that worn-in look for another season or two. read more

We've never had any experience when cobblers/leather repairs, but this was the place the Hollywood Balenciaga recommended to shorten the detachable strap to my wife's beloved Velo bag. They apparently send all their customers here. They were very nice and patient when her questions for reassurance that everything would be done right (again never had any experience with leather alterations so a teeny bit unsure). Cost about $30-35 (it's been a couple months since we did this), and well worth it for a $$$ item. It was done PERFECTLY. The seams at the ends were sealed like the original and even the thread color was spot on (her bag is in Anthracite - a sightly greyish teal color). Only took about 3-4 days to pick up. Will be going here from now on for any leather goods repairs/alterations. BTW, it shares a paid parking lot with the Rite Aid, so remember to validate! read more

they can fix anything. i found them when the fluevog store on melrose sent me here to keep up my fluevogs. i've brought so many shoes here to get stretched (new shoes) and repaired since i found them. the first time, i didn't know to park and enter from the rite-aid parking lot, which is the backside but entry door of the business. the door is not obvious at first glance but next to the pancake joint. careful of sometimes the smelly water than the kitchen staff is draining out. better not to wear open toe shoes when visiting here if you prefer to keep your feet clean from the neighboring kitchen. that's not the shoe store's issue, it's my issue with the pancake joint. i brought in a vintage purse i found at a thrift store to fix the strap, and they were so honest and patient to answer my questions to tell me it was ostrich leather (i had no idea) and tell me what my options were to fix the strap and how to keep the leather maintained. thank you! read more

Balenciaga referred me to Andre No. 1 Shoe Design and I am thrilled! One of my hand-wrapped handles had disintegrated and needed to be replaced completely. Andre replaced both handles and matched the leather to my bag perfectly - no small feat considering my bag is emerald green. It looks like it's brand new! Plus, instead of charging me to recondition the leather, they sold me the potion they use for reconditioning so that I can clean and maintain this bag and my other Balenciaga bag as well. This is the best shoe repair place in town! I have never been disappointed! The prices are very reasonable and i think you have to pay upfront for the first couple times until the guy (who is always there) gets to know your face... but its worth it! Another great find in Los Angeles. My shoe repair place, Andre No. 1. I found this place by desperation. I had gone to so many places before to get my shoes fixed & most times came out with mediocre results. A store that sells vintage belts had recommended Andre No.1 to me & sure enough they were right. Besides them making custom made shoes for KISS they have also custom made shoes for Michael Jackson, you name it they have done it. Just look around their walls each box has the celebrities mold of their feet in it. I have come out with great results. My Choo's & Blahnik look fabulous. I highly recommend this place. read more

They did a reasonable job with the re-sole of my favorite boots. However it took a solid week after the amount of time they said it would, and when I came to pick them up they were not polished or even cleaned. There was rubber sole everywhere, super dirty. The guy said, you didn't want them polished did you? Honestly in my entire life living in many different states I've never once considered cleaning up the shoe to be a special request or that polish might be above and beyond. He said I could leave them another day and he'd do it for free, but I live 40 minutes away and leave town for the holidays in 2 days, so thanks but no thanks. Honestly a crappy whole in the wall might have been better service and certainly a higher regard for their own workmanship. Wasted opportunity as I would have been a loyal customer otherwise. Goes to show lack of the basics will come back to bite you. read more

Definitely really pricey. I think I paid $60 or $65 to have one broken heel repaired on my Manolos. They did a great job though and polished the pair without additional cost. Overall, since these are my favorite pair of heels, I'd say the cost of repair was worth it. read more

This is THE place to bring your favorite shoes! They have narrowed the calf on inexpensive boots to make them look like they were made for me. They have made 15 year old expensive suede boots look like new. They have stretched gifted Louboutins that were too small for me. They told me NOT to mess with an expensive pair of Ralph Lauren boots. I go so often, that they even fixed a belt for me for free one day while I waited. They are polite, friendly, and true artisans that will inform of you of what your expectations should be and then exceed them by a notch.
