Blaise showed up within 30 minutes and besides getting the car started was just an incredibly pleasant person to chat with. We talked about some of his more interesting towing jobs recently, and the more we chatted I realized what an intelligent and perceptive person he is. He told me he shares his name with Blaise Pascal, the person who invented the modern theory of hydraulics. He said this was interesting because hydraulics are a big part of the towing business. I showed him my 10-year-old sports car and we had a great time talking about the reliability of this particular brand. I can assure you if Blaise shows up you will be totally satisfied and you will have a very nice interaction with a fellow human! Sort of what Sonoma County is all about - nice people who are good at their jobs.

They sent a driver from Occidental Towing. The drivers name is Erin. After Erin loaded up my car, he said "your front tire is facing the wrong way" (not the same tire as the flat). He readjusted it (shown in the photos) and told me that something is wrong with the tire. When I got to the mechanic shop, our mechanic fixed the flat in 20 minutes, but told us that the tow driver caused damage to the car and it was undrivable until fixed. The mechanic associate told me he would order the parts and contact Occidental Towing to inquire about reimbursement, but I would need to get a rental in the meantime ( we live 2 hours away from shop location and we still needed to get home). I walked 2 miles to the nearest car rental location, and took the cheapest option. It was Friday, and Occidental's office hours are closed on weekends. So first thing Monday morning we contact them about the damage- to which they agreed to pay the cost of repairs. I appreciated this and asked about the cost of the rental, and they totally refused to take responsibility for this part. The manager I spoke to on the phone at Occidental Towing was very rude and hung up on me when I brought up these concerns. I had to pay over $600 for a rental car just to get home and go to work, due to the damage caused by Occidental Towing. Why should I have to pay out of pocket $600+ dollars because their tow driver damaged my car to the point of not being able to drive it? I'm a college student and I pay rent- I don't have money to spend on a rental car while my car is damaged from a janky tow company. Please, Occidental tow company just own up to your mistakes and fix your wrongdoings with honor. Even the mechanics at AAA say it is ridiculous to expect me to pay out of pocket for a rental that I only need due to the damages you caused. In what world is that fair? I will also mention that Erin made some extremely questionable statements during the time that I was a passenger in his car. He talked about the multiple prisons he went to, his 3 DUIs (not what you want to hear when you're a passenger) and worst of all his statements about Mexican people entering our country and how he "does not like the blacks". That is a direct quote. Erin felt comfortable saying these things because I am white, but I in no way am okay hearing these things and the lack of professionalism and morals that he displayed is on par with the company's standards on how they treat their customers after they have done them wrong. Whatever you do, I would not trust or support this business. They do not have your safety or livelihood in mind.

On a weekend, with no garages and few towing services open nearby, we were left stranded with no way to get around, including to the grocery store to buy food for our stay. We needed to get our car back to the dealership in Santa Rosa so we could get it fixed and arrange for a rental car. We spent hours on the phone with AAA trying to arrange a tow, only to have one company cancel on us and another pushing back their ETA by 5-6 hours and generally acting rude/annoyed. When we explained our dilemma to Santa Rosa Towing Service, they kindly agreed to see what they could do, even though our location was technically further away than the areas they technically serve. The dispatchers were friendly and communicative, and they were able to get a truck to us within two hours of calling. Martin, our tow truck driver was incredibly professional and friendly, and helped us feel at ease in a stressful situation.

Considering the circumstances and the amount of stuff, it was pretty well packed, which they did not have to do. They were so respectful and kind, and I felt like they went above and beyond. On top of that, the car was in a tight garage with zero room for error. Kevin knew exactly what to do--he brought out special moving plates and used them with so much skill to safely guide the car out, load it, and unload it at the new spot. He was patient, professional, and clearly experienced. What could have been a stressful nightmare ended up being smooth and quick thanks to his expertise. If you ever need a tow (especially for a classic or anything tricky), these are definitely the guys to call!
