I suggest passing on this shop. I thought I'd try him out of curiosity. It was well before closing time when I brought my shoes into his shop. Maybe he just doesn't like his job, or people, but he sure didn't seem like he wants my business! This man may be good with shoes (I don't know) but, be prepared, he can be arrogant, abrupt, and rude. Took my demonias in cause the platforms were starting to separate from soles (heatbreaking). I go in and see an old man, "you Andre?" I asked, "yes that's me" he said. How often do you even get that these days? English isn't his first language, but what do I care? The man knows shoes, and he fixed them good too. They are like 200+ dollar boots so I can't just throw them away. This review has been a long time coming as I rarely if ever wear these puppies but they got taken out dancing last weekend and they held up despite my move busting. Dropped off 2 pairs of shoes before Christmas and they were ready in a week. One pair had the sole falling off and needed a re-glue and the other pair had the rubber sole re-stitched around the perimeter. Both look and wear great. It's like I have 2 brand new pairs. read more

The man who operates this store has no customer service skills at all!! I took a high heel there for a very simple repair. Upon wearing said heel, it immediately broke exactly where he was supposed to fix it. When I returned and asked for my money back, he refused. He would only offer ti attempt to fix it again. I recently brought two pair of winter boots in for repair... explained how they would be repair and I was satisfied with the explanation and then charged me $100 each to repair... I live in these boots in the winter time so I wanted to save them.. Pick them up and they are unwearable! The rubber they used for the sole is uneven and I will for sure roll my ankle. This is highway robbery and he made me pay when I dropped off... I now have to find someone else to undo the damage... true safety issue. Do not take your shoes here! read more

I have taken several pair of shoes to this location, and the first few times it was pretty good. About a year ago I dropped off a pair of shoes, and went back two weeks later and they couldn't find them, even stating that I must be confused (I haven't taken shoes anywhere else in the seven years I have lived in the area - I try to shop local). I wasn't happy, and didn't go there again until a few weeks ago. This time I dropped off shoes and went back a week later and they couldn't find them AGAIN!!! I leaned over the counter and saw them and pointed them out - the guy just grinned and said they would be ready soon. They were to be ready on a Friday and I came in the next Monday, he couldn't find them AGAIN!!! I saw them still sitting in the same spot and pointed them out (again!). I reminded him of the first pair, and of coming in the week before and having to find them myself. He apologized, but I have had enough. I took my shoes - still not repaired, and left. I paid for them in advance, but just wanted to get out of there without blowing my top - so he made money and didn't do the work. I feel ripped off, and now have to find an honest shoe repair place in the area. I still want to support local businesses, but this one is off my list. read more

This place was a waste of time and money. Hoping to spare someone else with this review. Brought in two pairs of women's boots and asked if they could be fixed. One pair was leather and the other suede. The soles were starting to wear through, the heel was worn down and they needed buffed. I was quoted $27 per pair, which seemed low since I assumed they would be doing a resole, but decided to trust them. When I got the shoes back (I had a family member pick them up for me since it was challenging to make their business hours), I was horrified to see that all they had done was replace the pad on the heel and nothing else. They didn't even buff the shoes to make then look nice! After almost $60, I ended up with unwearable shoes. Perhaps my experience was a miscommunication with what I expected and I should have specifically asked what was going to be done, but I am concerned with this business for a couple reasons. 1. Quality/professional judgment: if someone thought only putting a new heel would fix the shoes, I really question their overall professional judgment. They were in no way wearable with that fix and I dress casual for work. 2. Value: I looked up comparable pricing in the area for a similar repair and it should have been maybe $15 for that repair. If I would have done it myself, it would have been $6 for the heel replacements plus glue and would have taken probably 5 minutes plus dry time. I was charged almost double what it should have been. 3. Inconsistent business hours: I often travel for work, so I tried to go in the Saturday after I got the shoes back to ask them about the repair and see what could be done. I arrived a little more than an hour before they were supposed to close and was greeted by a sign saying they had to close early that day. Since I couldn't make it back to the shop for another two weeks based on my travel schedule, I decided to donate the shoes and move on instead of persist. 4. This place is cash only. Should have known my experience would be sketchy based on that alone, but wanted to give them a shot. I love supporting local businesses, but this is one I will definitely not be visiting again and would urge others to be cautious as well. read more

I needed a dog tag riveted to a collar--called 3 days before to see if this was doable while I waited as I am on oxygen and it takes me 40 or so minutes to get there. Andre said yes no problem do you have the rivets I said yes--ok I will show up Wed afternoon----would cost around $12--acceptable. HOWEVER-- when I got there he denied everything even tho he immediately said--"oh I talked to you on the phone" Started typing on the computer wanting all my information so I asked what is this for? I need to make you a ticket my response was no you said I could get it while I was here-- this he completely denied. Then he denied he could even do the job-- then he changed his story again and said if I wanted I could wait--ok how long--2 HOURS and me on oxygen which wouldn't last that long-- finally--he pointed his finger at me and said you can leave. If you don't want this happening to you--don't show up! read more

Come here if you like shoddy work that doesn't last and the bare minimum of accountability. It seems strange that with so many glowing reviews I should have such a bad experience. I had some sandals go kaputz on me. The sole detached from the wedge heel. I brought them in, and the owner (Andre?) was confident he could fix them up in an hour. TIme-wise, that's fantastic. I came back to pick them up, and it all seemed great. .........Then later that day I was walking around and felt something poking me in the foot. It was a nail! Whatever nails he had used started coming up out of the shoe. And yes, it jabbed me in the foot. Luckily, I'm up to date with my tetanus shot. I pulled the one nail out, probably a little too easily, and I carried on. Within 5 minutes of more walking, there was another nail. That was it for the day. Two nights later I wore the sandals and, no kidding, FIVE MORE NAILS came out. I took them back to Andre, not very pleased. With the necessary removal of the nails, also came the sole off of the wedge again. I left the shoe with Andre. My friend picked it up for me later that afternoon and it had this tacky dark yellow glue all over the edge and bottom of the sole where it meets the wedge. Really? You couldn't learn to glue more neatly? These aren't exactly Payless shoes. The good news is that the glue is actually holding. The bad news is that I feel they have ruined the aesthetic of my shoe. It also took 4 trips to the shoe repair place (there and back, there and back), and it took a really frustrating night with nails coming up and stabbing me in the sole of the foot. It was like trying to walk on lego pieces. So, in short, this place totally ruined my shoes. Andre didn't seem to really care. Who puts nails into cork expecting it to hold? And then tries to make up for it by just glopping a load of glue onto the shoe? TERRIBLE read more

Andre's has repaired several pairs of shoes for me, replaced the heel tips on a pair of heels and the elastic on a pair of strappy sandals. One time he even hammered in a loose heel tip for me on the spot at no charge. The workmanship is always very high quality and the turnaround time is very quick. As mentioned below, Andre's doesn't accept credit cards, no biggie, I just remember to bring my checkbook when picking up my shoes. read more

Just had a new Vibram sole put on a pair of men's Redwing Boots. Cost was $86 cash or check including tax, which was consistent with the quote provided when I dropped the boots off. This was slightly higher than what was quoted to me by the boot repair guy in Fremont, but was far more convenient. They were dropped off on a Friday and picked up the following Friday. The new sole matches the original exactly, appears to be stitched on very securely. I am happy with the service, as well as with the brief interaction with the gentleman who completed the repair. I will do business with Andre's Shoe Repair again. read more

I had them repair some cross-country ski boots and a utility belt for me. The workmanship was good and the final price was slightly below his estimate. It saved me a lot of money compared to replacing the items. Another reviewer commented on the fact that they don't take credit cards. It doesn't take a very bright person to realize that when you work on thin profit margins, giving 2 to 5% to the credit card company really cuts into your revenue. read more

Andre is great. I have had toes and heel tips replaced, resoled shoes and now a zipper replaced in one of my riding boots. To respond to reviewer "Susan", someone is not a crook because they only accept cash or checks. Credit card companies charge a lot of money to merchants for using CC's, so if your business is small and most of your invoices are low cost it would not make sense to use a CC service, too expensive. I have never been overcharged by him, in fact, I think the opposite, it always seems to be less than I expect! Definitely give this guy a try on any shoe you want to save! read more

This place is great. I brought 3 pair of shoes for work. Two pair needed heal replacement and a healed sandal that needed a strap attached! I got a clear and concise amount for the work and an estimate of 4 days to pick up. The work was great! The strap attached solidly and the heal area cleaned up and matching to the color of the shoes. They don't take credit card, but the estimate was spot on and I could easily bring a cash pmt and feel confident it would be appropriate! I will definitely use them again. I buy quality leather shoes for this reason, it makes repairs worth the money with quality work. These 10 yr old shoes have years more life in them again. Thanks Andre's. read more

I have had several heels repaired, as well as half soles. Price is slightly less than I've paid elsewhere. The workmanship is good. He once used a medium red polish on my dark red shoes, so they looked slightly pink until I got some darker polish on them, but not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination. I later found out that those shoes were made of 'corrected' leather, and that can be a pain to color. I have been taking shoes there since about 2011 with no problems. Cash or check only. read more

This is a great ma and pa shoe repair store. This guy is not a crook. Small family owned business don't allow credit card transactions because it costs too much. Check or cash is preferred for payment. He does a wonderful job restoring my shoes. He actually cleans them too unlike a few certain stores I visited in Bellevue.
