We tried Andy's Coffee Shop for the first time on 03/19/2017 at about 11:45AM on a Sunday. So this place was crowded when we arrived at 11:45; however, empty at about 1:00PM when we left. We both had breakfast items today. I personally had the pancake short stack with a side of hashbrowns. The house made hot sauce was very good. I used that on my hashbrowns. Overall, I give this place four stars, because the service was attentive. The nostalgia of the place definitely had that old-timey diner feeling; however, the food was good! Good is good; however, good is not great. There was nothing that made this stand out for me as great food; however, the food in combination with the attentiveness of the employees make me give this an overall four star rating. In my book, this is a pretty good Sunday breakfast. read more

*Uncomfortable experience* Decided to go around 12pm today with my girlfriend and as we were about to walk in, we notice the door was locked. We knocked on the door only to see people look over but not unlock the door for us. I did notice there were about 3 different tables in use with people and no one opened. The diner was not busy whatsoever. Unfortunately we eventually left after 3-5 mins of looking over to have the door opened. read more

Although Andy's Coffee Shop is only about 1 /12 blocks from PCC and I've passed by zillions of times I've never noticed this place until the other day and decided to see if they had a breakfast burrito, upon entering I thought I was in some old movie or something. I'm not sure when this placed opened it's doors but it's definitely stuck in time, flashback to the 50's with 50's music playing on the radio, the wood paneled walls all covered in pictures of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and even Cantinflas ha,ha,ha also many others I have no idea who they are, oh and a nearly life sized cardboard cut out of Elvis now that's says classy!. So I'm standing there a minute or so and nobody greets me nor says I'll be right with you, have a seat nothing so I seat myself and wait a couple more minutes before my waitress acknowledges me, she finally arrives and asks. Waitress: Hello, May I get you some Coffee? Pancho: No thank you, may I have a Diet Pepsi or Coke please! Waitress: Which one would you prefer? Pancho: Diet Pepsi, Thank you! Definitely a throwback kind of place, serving breakfast and lunch only. I think they close around 2pm or 3pm most days. An usual schedule for me on Sunday had me searching for a breafast place and I have always wanted to try Andy's Coffee Shop, as I have driven past this place about a million times. The menu is pretty big - all kinds of breakfast burritos, omelettes, chilaquiles, machaca. I was craving french toast, & it also came with 2 eggs & ham/bacon/sausage. I got the ham & immediately regretted it when I saw my plate. I was a big square that looks like it came from a supermarket. Ugh. The french toast & eggs were good, tho. It took a few minutes for the food to come out, but I loved that it was hot. One thing that I thought was unusual was that the syrup was an entire bottle of Aunt Jemima placed on the table. A little ramekin would have been fine. It took forever for me to get my check. I seriously must have sat there for 15 minutes, while a group of college students paid their bills individually on credit cards. They were really lucky that the restaurant allowed this. Yummy beans and chilaquiles (red sauce). Service is non-existent, unless you are a regular or a friend of the staff here because I saw them sitting the booths and laughing and friendly with other customers, just not us. Very slow to take orders and deliver the food. I probably won't go back. read more

Andy's is a cool spot with even cooler people. They're the nicest group of people and you can tell they prefer to make people feel like family. We watched the rose parade with them and then ate breakfast there right after. The staff is incredible, they were able to seat the whole restaurant at the same time and get orders out in an incredible fast pace... Without sacrificing the quality one bit! Great place for breakfast! The food was very tasty and well priced. I ordered the create your own omelet which was hot and delicious. I had sausage, onions, spinach, and cheese inside. The hash browns had a good fresh taste to them. The only reason I didn't give this review a five star rating is because I didn't enjoy the coffee, which was a little too strong. My wife had the pancakes and she said they were very fluffy and tasted pretty good. The service was good considering they were short handed. I will definitely return again. read more

Want a go to breakfast spot? Andy's the place to go! It has a wide selection of breakfast foods both American and Mexican. Came in today around 12:30 p.m. and there was a rush of people but it had cleared out by 1:00 p.m. The service was great even when they are super busy and seemed short staffed. The owner made sure our cups of coffee were always full. I had the Fitness Number 1 with a side of french fries (very healthy, I know!) The food was good, the eggs were a bit greaser than I liked but the bacon is so good!!! Also, the french fries were pretty bland, but I took it as a sign to eat healthier! Overall, 4 stars. The food can get better, but it still has the small family owned restaurant that you do not get that much anymore. read more

Oh, what a morning. It was the 4th of July, and things were not going according to plan. Despite that, my girl Alley and I decided to get some breakfast and worry about everything else later. When all else fails food can turn any situation around. Every place was closed due to the holiday. Suddenly, I had this feeling that perhaps Andy's was open. To our welcomed surprise it was! Sleep deprived, hungry, and I slightly hung-over, we walked through the back entrance which takes you practically alongside the kitchen. Alley asked if this was O.K, and I didn't blame her for being unsure about how you get inside this place. I felt like it was some scene from "Pulp Fiction". Anyway, we took a booth by the window, seated right under cardboard standees of Elvis and Marilyn. I'm a sucker for nostalgia. Andy's (love that name) is an all American diner. It's nothing fancy nor trying too hard to have the 1950's appeal like Johnny Rockets, clean black and white tiles with uniformed employees......No, this is far from a chain or any place trying to mesh nostalgia with classy. Andy's is a bit of a time capsule, "gem" if you will, in the Pasadena area. While sitting there, talking, and waiting for our breakfasts (Mexican omelets) we took in the old room with its high ceilings, old photos, yellow walls, and American icons of yesteryear. It's a unique experience to simply wait there for your food and be transported somewhere off of Route 66, in the middle of nowhere. This place doesn't have to pull any tricks attempting to contrive some sort of experience that other places are known for doing. What you see is what you get......Isn't that an old American virtue? Alright, so let's talk about the food. Well, it's good. I've been here twice for breakfast so unfortunately I can't say much for the other meals. I'd be curious how they would cook a steak or master a Rueben Sandwich. However, they do know how to dish out a real breakfast with their portions being on the generous side. The Mexican Omelet for example was filling and bits of green chilies were sprinkled in there for maximum effect. Personally, I enjoy diner coffee over any of those specialty places. Call my tastes quaint, but a reasonably priced and delicious plate with a side of good old fashioned coffee is enough for me. When you tack on the laid back and aged atmosphere, it feels like home. The place is also not too noisy which lends itself to good conversation. I can't think of a better way to start off the day. The service is decent, and two can walk out of there for about $20. There's also plenty of parking in the back so no need to feed those pesky meters. If you're looking for a nice mom and pop diner in the San Gabriel Valley, go here. If you're looking for something trendy then go to a themed chain. We will return to Andy's in the near future. Just watch out for the back of some of the furniture having its nails exposed. I used to go here all the time. I went back with some friends after about a year of not going. The food is still okay but the service was horrible. Our waitress seemed like she just didn't care about our table at all. Everything we got we had to ask for...and I'm talking about the things you should get automatically, like a menu, a fork, the salad and soup before the meal, iced tea refill, our bill...you get the idea. maybe she was just having a bad day, but the bad day may have lost me as a customer for good. ouch. read more

Family owned and everything is made with love! They serve breakfast late and it's always phenomenal - especially the Mexican dishes (I recommend the Chilaquiles). They know how to make the basics shine - some of the best scrambled eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns I've ever had! I usually stay in Old Town but this is well worth the short drive! Private parking lot in back for convenience and the service is always friendly - even on their busy days they quickly get you seated with a hot cup of good coffee! read more

It's not expensive, but it's not cheap. Also, there is very limited parking so just be ready to park on the street a bit away and walking in. The location itself is small. Narrow and deep. They squeeze in as many tables as they can around the walls while having a long countertop that runs the length of the kitchen. But, with all that said, and with them trying to cram in as many people as possible, it didn't feel too cramped. Only time we really felt the high density was when one of my kids needed to use the restroom and we had to find somewhere to stand and wait for it to become available. Outside of the front of the restaurant, there really is no space to just stand around. The food itself is wonderful. The burgers are no nonsense. They're not trying to be anything other than just a classic diner burger and fries. And that's exactly what I want from a place like this. Nothing is made for Instagram or to chase a trend. This place knows what they're good at because they've been doing it for decades and they don't stray from that. It's a total 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality here and it's better off for it. My son got the chili and demolished it. I was worried he wouldn't like it, but it was anything but the case. I haven't seen him eat chili that fast in a long time. The dessert was good, but probably my least favorite part of the whole meal. I think I just wanted something different than what I ordered. I got the peach crumble and, while tasty, it just didn't scratch the pie itch I wanted. It was the perfect blend of soft and crispy. The crumble was good, but I think I wanted more of it. I'm being picky here, but I think it just slightly missed the mark. I really enjoyed my brunch at Pie N Burger. It was a wonderful outing. From the friendly staff to the classic food. It was just nice. And I absolutely look forward to coming back. Again and again.
