    The Italian Sandwich
    Vanessa A.

When I'm in the mood for an Italian sub this is my go-to spot! Never disappoints! I always order the hero (largest size) so I make 2 meals out of it.

Open super early, ordered a Bacon, egg and cheese Hero & delivered in 10 minutes. Perfect neighborhood go to deli.

Stopped by here for breakfast pick-up with friends. The breakfast sandwiches were absolutely delicious! We got: 1) Turkey sausage, egg, & Muenster cheese croissant sandwich with tomato, avocado and hot sauce, 2) bacon, egg, & monetary Jack cheese with tomato and hot sauce croissant sandwich, 3) egg & Swiss cheese with avocado wheat bagel sandwich, a cappuccino and an iced coffee with hazelnut. These sandwiches did not disappoint! The cheese was nicely melted, all the food was warm, and the people at the counter were very friendly, which isn't always a given in upper west side. Plus, the prices of the items on the menu were very affordable! I'd definitely be back and I'm excited to try their lunch sandwiches!

It was my second time going there for chopped cheese. It's super delicious but I wish their bread were softer. Other than that, they do a great job!! Getting chopped cheese with chipotle mayo sauce is also good!

Extensive menu and they pack in the portions. Got the Turkey bacon club (forget exact name) and it really hit the spot. Bread was soft and the sandwich was well put together. How all bodega sandwiches should be.

Stopped in here to grab some breakfast on the way to Central Park while visiting New York. It's only a couple of blocks from the west side of the park, so we got to sit in the park and eat. All of our bagel sandwiches tasted amazing! And they were super filling. I even wrote this haiku about my bacon, egg, and cheese bagel: My life is complete When I finish this bagel I will die happy So I'd recommend it.

both sides of the bread drenched in hot sauce after I asked FOR A LITTLE

Update: I guess this is the fourth time? Without revealing who I am I'm just gonna say my sandwich wrong. And they put lettuce when I just asked for tomato. Like I said before, verbally telling the order to the staff is not helpful. They need to write it down so they can read it. Even then it'll still be wrong. I try to come here as little as possible. Months ago: This was the THIRD TIME my order was wrong. The first two times were breakfast items. This time was lunch. Ordered a chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce and A LITTLE hot sauce. What do I get. The whole thing slathered with hot sauce (ON BOTH SIDES). Yelling out the order clearly does not work. There needs to be a better system.

I got the Turkey&Cheese on a roll with some chips and drink. The people were friendly. Ambiance was your average deli in NY.

This was slightly disappointing. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese, and the bagel was pretty dense. Prices were about average.

We got the limonata and mandarino to drink and the la toscana and la paradiso for our sandwiches. They are massive so prepare for leftovers. La Toscana- The foccacia is soft and fluffy. You get savory salame toacano, pecorino, and truffle honey that ties the flavors together. La Laradiso- The mortadella is tasty and given in generous amounts. The stracciatella, pistachio cream, and pistachio bits add a depth of flavor and texture. Limonata and Mandarino- This was sweet, fruity, and refreshing. Hits the spot after walking around all morning. Love the vintagr can designs! Great experience overall!

Someone order a Hot Italian? Here I am…read more The legendary Florentine sandwich shop achieved global fame by earning some of the highest praise in food journalism for its massive, fresh-baked schiacciata sandwiches. Google their name and "best" and get hundreds of hits, but the majors who crowned them "best sandwich" title include Saveur Magazine, the big one touted by the family; Eater NY, ranking La Paradiso the most elite Italian sandwich outside of Italy; Las Vegas Weekly, who crowned them "Home of the world's best sandwiches"; TripAdvisor, for whom the Italian original is the most reviewed eatery with a near perfect rating; and The Infatuation NYC guides who promise the execution of the crispy, airy schiacciata bread completely justifies the hype. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). Were they life-changing? No. But I rank Paradiso a 8.8 and Hot Italian a 10. And because everyone is hard-working and everything is so freshly prepared and cut, it's a class act. They should seriously make a sign that says, "Can't decide? Get two!" and then give me free sandwiches on my yearly trips for the idea.

We ducked here to grab some nourishment before I became to hangry. Ordering takes place at the counter then grab a table. I had a 1/2 bowl of their "famous chicken soup" and 1/2 pastrami sandwich. Had good flavor and was enough to warm me up on this brisk morning. My niece did a bagel, and after trying all week she finally got one exactly how she wanted it made. We ate and chilled for a bit, no plans for the day other than making it to the airport to go home. Was able to people watch and catch up without feeling rushed to leave. Saw locals come through, so you know it is a place worth stopping. The staff were nice and even apologized for not being able to give me the soup I wanted in a half order. Though things can often get overlooked and passed by in the hustle and bustle of the city...stop in and relax while you grab a bite to eat.

Date of visit: April 14, 2026…read more Our friend wanted to go to a real New York deli during her first trip to the city and this is the one in the vicinity of Times Square and our evening show that was the highest rated according to my fellow Yelpers, but I am not quite sure why based on our experience. Things did start out great, with Boudjema being very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. And once we got seated, we were able to fully appreciate the vibe, both in the primarily 70s playlist, but also the mirror and brass touches across the restaurant. Food-wise, however, there were some definite opportunities. My Roasted Turkey sandwich did come on quite possibly the best rye bread I have ever had, warm and flavorful. But while the gravy was also good, the turkey was cold. This odd temperature mismatch made it hard to appreciate the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. We also ordered some tater tots and those were quite good. While it definitely could have been worse--and I've had worse in New York City--this also could have been so much better.
