I do miss the iconic Joe's Pizza which was previously located here, but Canton Pizza Kitchen has stepped up to plate and is doing an admirable job filling in Joe's big shoes. This is my 3rd or 4th take out order from here, and I will say they recovered from a bumpy previous experience. Last time, they forgot to put pepperoni on one pizza (tho' it was ordered & paid for, as per receipt). Regretfully, I passed on my usual quick peak at the pies before leaving, so I had a slightly* disappointed crowd when I got home, *BUT, the Buffalo chicken pizza I also delivered got people over the missing pepperoni. The Bflo chicken pizza lacks any kick you'd probably expect, but is otherwise awesome, & it's easy to drizzle with hot sauce at home. Back to the missing pepperoni: I called, they apologized & quickly offered to re-do the pizza or for me to come back another time. Takeout Review: 3.5 stars This is the second time ordering takeout from here. The first time, I ordered the Grilled Chicken panini at $14.95 which had grilled chicken breast, pesto sauce, tomatoes, provolone & roasted peppers. The chicken salad was good but the panini was too hard to chew, wished I ordered it on a brioche bun or grinder. The second time, I ordered the Speedy Gonzales Burger for $14.95. It has 8oz. Angus beef, chipotle mayo, onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes & Monterey Jack cheese. This was good but I requested the beef to be cooked at medium but it came out medium well, not a big deal but it would've been more tender at medium. You can order directly from their website. The ordering process was easy and food was hot and ready by the time requested. My husband loves their Philly cheese steak with peppers and onion. Will definitely order from them again. read more

Tried Canton Pizza + Kitchen yesterday -- we were underwhelmed. Ordered two small pizzas & a side of meatballs (2). My first impression when I opened the box to my sausage pizza was that it looked like it might have been meant for the "Kiddie menu". Very amateurish. My wife's Margherita pizza "looked" better, but she felt it was bland & boring. The meatballs were alright, but overall, we were disappointed. For almost 50 bucks, we were expecting better quality. At least our dog was happy, she enjoyed chewing on the crust. We briefly thought about coming back a 2nd time in the future for an Italian dinner, but figured if they can't make a decent pizza, we wouldn't trust them preparing anything else. It's almost impossible to find quality pizza up here in the NW corner of CT. We'll continue the search. read more

"Goodbye, Joe, he gotta go, me oh my oh" (Hank Williams) Within a very short time frame, the Farmingtom Valley saw two Joe Pizza restaurants close. The Simsbury location is still vacant, but thanks to the owners of Farmington Pizza + Kitchen, the Canton location has now been reborn as Canton Pizza + Kitchen. The interior looks pretty much the same as we remember it from the Joe Pizza Days with a big ordering counter up front and two rows of booths and seats in the dining room and an overflow dining room in the back. The Canton menu is very similar to the Farmington menu. Three months ago we ordered a $12.95 Chef's Salad from Farmington. It was loaded with Romaine Lettuce, red onion, grape tomatoes, peppers, and  ham, turkey and provolone cheese ribbons. The version we just bought from Canton was somewhat different from it's Farmington predecessor. First of all, the price jumped one dollar to $13.95. And that increase came with a corresponding decrease in ingredients, as the peppers and ham were no longer included. Go look at my photo, the amount of turkey and provolone was quite underwhelming. I am one thousand per cent positive that the amount of meat we had in Farmington was much more than what we received in Canton. And we paid a dollar less for it. I'd like to go back and try something from their deep sandwich, grinder, panini, wrap, burgers, calzone, pizza and pasta menus. But our first impression, based on the case of the more expensive but less ingredient salad, was a bit perplexing. read more

Our first time ordering last week was with their delivery service, which was flawless. We ordered a meatball calzone and the Speedy Gonzales burger which were both very good. Then yesterday, I needed to run some errands so decided to order online for pick-up this time. Ordering again was very easy. This time we got 2 large pizzas and my son wanted the same burger again. When I walked in to pick up our order, 5 mins earlier than promised, it was ready for me. I was greeted quickly by someone taking another order and only waited a minute or so for him to grab mine. He checked that the pizzas were correct before I left. The pizzas were both delicious and tasted great as leftovers the next day as well. This restaurant is a great addition to Canton read more

My experience dining at Canton Pizza + Kitchen was what I can only describe as fine. Not to say it was the worst meal or dine-in excursion I've ever had, but it certainly wasn't top dollar. There was a friendly man working at the counter who sat us and took our orders. He also took care of everyone who came in to pick up takeout. Needless to say that besides the chef(s) in the kitchen, he was the only one working. Although, the service was great. He got our orders correct, and they were brought out in a timely manner. My family ordered the eggplant fries appetizer, which I would highly recommend. They were definitely a highlight of the meal. I had the caprese panini, which was also very tasty. A concern to be brought up, though, was that the identity of the restaurant was unclear. They clearly do a strong take out business, and the establishment has a large counter in the front to accommodate that. But, they also had the option to sit down for a meal, which was my family's plan of action. The booths were cramped, and it wasn't comfortable with all of the plates from our various appetizers and meals on the table. Not to say they shouldn't have options (take out and dine in), but this restaurant could really benefit from figuring out who they want to be. Overall, my experience at Canton Pizza + Kitchen was nice, but there were some noticeable flaws that I was unable to look past. My sister and I were the only customers there for lunch on a recent Friday. It was our first time. I love a good, plain pizza and I loved theirs. The flavors brought me back to a favorite spot on the Cape that was a haunt for my high school friends. And that was in the late 1960s! Lovely thin crust. The tomato sauce is not too acidic and I wonder if they use San Marzano tomatoes. Seems so. In any event, the quality is good, not overcooked. Service? Well how bad could it be with only 2 diners? ! The guy was great. Friendly and accommodating. This may or may not be the style of pizza for everyone, but for me it was terrific. What a friendly and accommodating place. I ordered a salad with meatballs on top. Definitely a winner. The salad definitely does not need any dressing with the tomato sauce, which is fabulous and three gigantic meatballs. I can't remember the last time. We thought this place was terrific! Yummy pizza with a great crust - thin, with an excellent texture and chew. Large, fresh salad with many dressing choices - the balsamic was great!! We had a sausage and 1/2 mushroom pizza - the sausage was tasty and the mushrooms were fresh and plentiful. Our son had the Chicken Francese. The portion was abundant, the chicken was tender and the sauce was lemony and delicious! We've eaten here twice. The first time we had grinders at lunch, which were super and well made, and the bread was fresh and soft . I don't understand the mediocre reviews - the music wasn't too loud (we could speak in normal volume and had no trouble hearing each other,) and the service staff both times we've been there were friendly and efficient. Delighted to have found a good pizza place less than 5 minutes from our house! Will go again! read more

I went to Canton Pizza + Kitchen for my third visit. This time it wqs with three friends for pizza. They too really liked the atmosphere. The food was just delicious and the staff was so friendly. Dissappointed in Canton CT! We were so looking forward to trying the new Canton Pizza restaurant that recently opened in the old Joe's Pizza location. We were very dissappointed!! Upon walking into an empty establishment, the music was Super Loud! We ordered a Marguerita Pizza with Sausage Add-On. The pizza was very thin crust and tasted like a frozen pizza. The meat was like little nuggets of cat food and even when you ate that small nugget you could not taste it. The sauce is like tomato paste - there was nothing to like about this meal. The waitress only came by to ask how we were doing toward the end of the meal, so we could ask for parmesan cheese which was not on the table. When we gave her $100 bill for the $29.03 check, she asked if we wanted change? She brought back the wrong. change, forgetting about the 3 cents. Needless to say, we will not be returning! read more

Not sure what those other three people are talking about, I had a wonderful experience tonight! I think I sat across from them, and since I knew they didn't have a liquor license, I brought in my wine, hence why I had wine and they did not. Also, I waited like 20 seconds after the nice waitress gave me a menu to get my drinks and she refilled my water without me having to ask. I can't speak to the wings as I am not a wing person, but my salad was amazingly fresh and delicious. I had a Canton Special pizza and the crust was amazing. I didn't pay much attention to the four folks who sat across from us who reviewed above, but I am pretty sure they finished their salad, their pizza, and their milkshake, so who knows! Had to wait close to an hour for a pizza and it took them 10 mins just to receive fountain sodas if I could give less than one star then I would. We were told they didn't have any wine or alcohol but the people next to us magically got wine. The wings weren't spicy at all and the salad was ehh I could make a better salad at home wasn't worth the cost of almost $90 should have stayed home. Totally not worth it! read more

food was nasty, made me sick , the waiter was so unprofessional and didnt listen. he asked my son in law if he wanted something else to drink and my son in law said yes and he never brought it to him. I asked for oil and vinegar for our antipasto that wasnt a real antipasto. the pizza tasted like it came from the store. the music was loud and not really appropriate for all ages. when asked what we wanted to drink we were told they had no alcohol but then a couple came in and they brought over to them a glass of wine. so unprofessional and totally unacceptable. if you say no alcohol it should go for everyone read more

This was our first time here. Having grown up in the New Haven area, I am a bit of a pizza snob. I was in the mood for a nice thin crust pizza. Having lived up in this area for over 30 years, I have tried ever pizza place in the area. I saw CP&K recently took over the old "Joe Pizza" space and we decided to try it. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and were pleasantly surprised of the texture and crust, which were both excellent. We should have ordered well done, but nonetheless it was still good. Regarding taste, there was something missing and I couldn't quite put my finger on it... but I think salt. Even the next day eating the leftover my husband said the same thing..."what's missing". Having said that, we are going to go back and order a plain cheese pizza and try it again. We won't hesitate to go back - the staff is literally the nices staff we have encountered in a long time. Oh, one thing we didn't know, its BYOB. Lesson learned on that. If there wasn't something missing from the taste on the pizza, I would have given it 5 starts for sure. I'll check back after trying the plain cheese (well done) , that will really be the test. read more
